It's a pretty good day when the mouse doesn't chase the lady, the cat doesn't chase the mouse, and the dog doesn't chase the cat!

Cute illustrations, a little rhymey, but not over-the-top. Quick and fun.

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could just get along? That's the idea behind I'm Not Going to Chase the Cat Today! by Jessica Harper.

Instead of chasing the cat, the dog decides to dance. As the dog dances and gives the cat a day off, she in turn decides to ignore the mouse. The mouse then decides for the day to avoid harassing the woman who owns the house.

Through out the book the illustrations have a 1980s Fame dance theme with leg warmers, leotards and the like. I got the book for Harriet for the dancing dog and cat but the book isn't really about dancing. It would have been a better, stronger book if the dancing theme of the illustrations had been more centrally

Man I love picture books that jump up and surprise me. I grabbed this one at the library because of the cartoonish art and because of what the cat is wearing. Yes, because of the cat's clothes. The cool cat in this book has so much personality and panache, she seems ready to leap from the pages at any moment and dance her whiskers off.

The text is sweet, short and simple. A dog wakes up and decides not to chase the cat, who in turn decides not to chase the mouse, who in turn decides not to harass the woman of the house. And in the end they all gather for a party and to boogie down.

I have such a good time reading this one to my kids. I use a British accent for the dog as that's what feels most appropriate. The cat is a very fine lady from Georgia, even though she dresses and looks french. I guess I can't really do a french accent so well anyways :). The mouse is usually a New Yorker but not always. I'm rambling on here but I can't help it - this book is a blast to read aloud!

The energetic artwork has a 1980s vibe to it and is bold, unusual and full of life. And again, I gotta say it, that cat and its outfit makes me smile every time!

"I'm Not Going to Chase the Cat Today!" is a bouncy, lively book that's full of fun illustrations. A great gift for boys or girls of any age - and absolutely perfect for anyone who has a dog and a cat at home! Particularly if the cat has a habit of dressing like a french teenager...

A rather tedious little story about a dog waking up and deciding to not chase the cat. So... that cat doesn't chase the mouse and the mouse doesn't chase the lady. Not very engaging.

The illustrations weren't bad.

This was a cute picture book along the lines of "I know an old Woman Who swallowed a Fly". Colorful illustrations
