Storm

Rate this book
Storm moves to Berlin to study art and finally find himself. But on his first day, waves of dissociation catch up with him. A reminder that his mind is still a maze of distorted memories narrated by faceless therapists.

Just as he’s about to get lost, he meets Eliah, an acting student whose open presence brings a rare kind of stability. Eliah balances Storm’s intricate personality, and the two get close. An encounter with Eliah’s ominous boss leads them into a night in Amsterdam that blurs the boundaries of their friendship.

Storm begins to feel a connection to Eliah, which he can’t quite define. But things take a darker turn when he meets Sky: Eliah’s enigmatic girlfriend. The single encounter ignites an obsession that overtakes him, and he finds himself in a surreal triangle of feelings.

As Berlin’s cold streets mirror Storm’s spiraling mind, he loses grip on reality. Driven by jealousy, desire, and the twisted guidance of his darker self, he descends into a series of reckless encounters that nearly cost him his life.

Sky, battling her own demons with drugs and the toxicity of her relationship with Eliah, yearns for escape. She runs to the shores of Ibiza just to be captured and brought back to Berlin, where her path crosses with Storm once more.

...a descent into the depths of a fragmented mind
...a tale of love, lost and found
...a portrait smeared with the hues of delirium
...a trip into the heart of obsession
...a search for identity and understanding
...a reflection of the silent struggles fought unseen
...a story for those who find beauty in the broken

Storm is a haunting psychological journey that captures Berlin's gritty but beautiful essence. This novel explores the fine line between love and obsession. It stands at the intersection of contemporary fiction, gothic coming of age, dark romance, and psychological suspense.

Euphoria (the TV series) + Supermarket (book by Bobby Hall) = STORM

This was quite the experience. I will admit, I had no idea what was going and it wasn't until I hit the 48% mark I started to become invested. In the end, I had no idea what to expect. Storm is an extremely complex character, but I respect how the author created a way of building his character without the influence of outsiders. At least that's how I see it. All of Storm's episodes involve a sense of remorse, but I believe that he feels that towards himself and only himself rather than the people he is negatively impacting the most.

Holy smokes, what a ride!

I feel like I need a moment to get my thoughts together. 🤯

Noam Leon did a fantastic job at making you feel for Storm's character and the heaviness he carries around with him on a day to day basis.

And then at the end he turns around and hits you with a mind blowing twist or 5!!! I absolutely did not see that coming, even though Storm seems to start REALLLLYYYY unraveling towards the end.

I think being able to listen to this with the assisted reader helped me get through it quicker than I would have with just reading with my eyeballs only.

Thank you so much Noam Leon and goodreads giveaways for this digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

This book is quite fascinating and provokes the reader to think philosophically. This book takes the reader on quite an emotional journey and I found that very fascinating. There is an element of romance in the book and that story line was beautifully written and captures the reader. Overall a wonderful read.

Wow. What a ride. I don’t remember how I came across this book but I’m so glad I read it. I think it’s so cool that it’s self-published. I think the author, even at such a young age, is super cool in a way I never was or could be.

This book has such an edge to it, (or a corner? 😏) I love the artwork. I feel like some elements might be close to home for the author, how much so I’m not sure, but it’s interesting to cherry pick what I think could be autobiographical and what is fiction.

Gives off big Scanner Darkly vibes. I truly enjoyed it.

It was good, well written and poetic. But quite disturbing getting into Storms head, seeing his disassociation and mental illness. Gonna be thinking about this story for awhile. Confused a bit by the ending. Thanks to Goodreads, the author, and publisher for the free kindle copy:-)

A book that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, written in a unique and poetic way. The way the author describes the very confusing emotions and thoughts of the main character Storm makes you feel like you are always on his side despite his actions. He touches on important subjects like mental health and anxiety, but also educates through art. If you are into coming of age stories, experimental and poetic writing, twisted story telling it is definitely highly reccomanded. This book is not for a light summer beach read as it can be triggering and slightly intense to read. One of my favorite books I read! This debut novel feels like Skins and Euphoria meet with the gritty vibes of Berlin and today’s zeitgeist.

The one with the skateboard.
I won this book in a giveaway.
Determining if the characters have dissociative disorder or schizophrenia is the main task. You have no idea as to what’s real and who is who. I thought Storm was a female until he mentioned being a male. And the random hook up with Eliah because they were on drugs/drinking…
I’m not sure if Storm ever met Sky or if she also has dissociative disorder…honestly idk what I read at this point.
At the end sky is still tripping and I think she’s in a trunk? The mind games gave more credit—but it’s not a book I’d recommend.

Kindle Unlimited. Let’s go; time for a rapid review session, as I had these things stockpiled for a few weeks now. Warning: recycled review.

The title and cover is what drew me in; like, I felt like it’d be a really good book, just based on that. I clearly haven’t learnt my lesson on assuming a good cover will mean the book will have the same quality. It was alright; just wasn’t worthwhile.

I could not get into this book. The writing is from the point of view of someone who is almost always disconnected from reality, zoned out, confused, with blurred and distorted views of reality. I had to stop reading because I got too bored with the relentless and repetitive descriptions of the main character not being able to focus on what is happening.

Thanks to the publisher/author for this Goodreads giveaway. This was an odd, chaotic read. You never really know what is real and what is not. In that sense, it definitely gives the reader a glimpse into the mind of one who is suffering with mental illness.

First, a big thanks to the author, Noam Leon, and Goodreads for the privilege of winning a digital copy of Storm in a giveaway. Even though this was a dark and disturbing read focused on mental health, obsession, and art, it was a thought-provoking and interesting read that forced me to confront some questions about life. Storm's descent into his own mind is an exploration of how love can be a motivator or a hinderance, and how when we need something to attach to, we will often find it. There is definitely beauty in the difficult and tragic parts of the world, but Storm is a model for how to not handle it well. Despite this, you are rooting for him and hoping he gets the attachment he needs. The writing style felt very intimate and real, and brought me closer into the character's mind. I really didn't love the end, but still, it left me thinking. Would recommend to those who like deep, thoughtful reads about mental health, art, and love, as well as thrillers/mysteries.
