sigh... DNF 63%
i loved it till around 40% then all went sideways for me when she initiated sex, the thought of her being experienced and him being a v ruined the book for me ...the way they started being intimate i disliked her..i felt like she was the alpha? i dunno i just didn't like it..her taking the lead and all... this could've been sweeter but nah, it didn't work for ME.
Then moving on with this...when she wanted to be his partner in crime..i cringed again ..it wasn't like prior she had a life like that to crave it you know? again slowly my Kado was like a Beta lol.
I truly loved and adored him but she ruined the book for me, and i think it's just a me thing maybe but...yeah. i liked them until the intimacy started.

Kado, Kado, Kado. For someone who doesn't speak you sure have made quite the impression on my heart. Gahhh! This book was everything. All the anticipation and buildup for our silent hero was perfection.

He and Lucy had one of the most unconventional meetings, but despite that they found a place with each other. Her not knowing a thing about him, him unable to voice his wants and needs to her like she is used to everyone doing made it extra tough. I loved how they had their own way of communicating. That was so special.

Kado is such a sweet soul... given his employment you'd think otherwise, but as long as you stay on his good side it will all end well. He literally will do anything for those he cares about. He did just that with Lucy.

This couple's story didn't disappoint! Definitely worth the wait!

First off, thank you to the lovely ladies of Cala Riley for letting me be a part of their ARC team and this release! I’ve been waiting for Kado’s story for a while and I’m so glad to finally have it in my hands!! Kado and Lucy are goals honestly, their communication - while difficult for obvious reasons - is the best I’ve read in a long time! Kado has been one of my favorite side characters throughout this entire series and I’m so thrilled that he finally got his girl… sure, taking her was maybe not the best way to do that, but that’s irrelevant! I like Lucy a lot! She’s spunky and honest and doesn’t back down - refreshing. Ugh it’s such a good book!! You HAVE to read it, get your copy on release day, October 17th!!

They have done it again folks!
Cala Riley has written another Syndicated Series book. Kado, strong silent type 😜. I have realized that reading this series I have a favorite. “😱bookreadermom23 how can you say that?” YUP I said what I said, I have a favorite from this series 😁. Yakuza Mafia…Harukai, Kenji, and now Kado. Ahhhhh!!! I’m hooked.
Kado is the silent assassin for the Yakuza mafia. Lucy is the beauty he falls for 🤫silently. (I know my revue sounds crazy 🤪) but let me tell you Kado’s story is beautiful. The chemistry with these two is absolutely incredible . I don’t have to explain it. This is definitely a must read, if you have read this series. And if you haven’t you can still read it 😝. No but in all seriousness this book is AMAZING!!! I loved it!

“KADO” CALA RILEY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 🌶️🌶️.5/5

🌶️🌶️🌶️/5.

I started reading this late in the day but i devoured it. I was determined to finish it before going to bed and I'm glad I did. This book was so wholesome. Kado was so precious! I wanna keep him safe in a bubble and never let him get hurt. 🥰

Kado is speechless and he always lived his life just working for Kai and never wanting anything for himself until his boss finds his woman. When he saw what a woman in his kind of life brought to the table so to speak, he started to wish someone for himself that was only his. He craves companionship more than anything else. He is soooo cute! ☺

Lucy never had luck on her side but that started to change when he witness a m--der (Kado at his finest 😌) so Kado had to take her with him because he didn't had it in him to off her so Kai being Kai offer Lucy 3 options. Suffice to say she chose Kado instead.

I actually loved how "chill" Lucy was about the whole thing in a way. Despite everything she wanted to understand Kado and she did it effortlessly besides his only goal in life now that she is living with him is to keep her happy at all times.

I loved how they communicated with one another and how they seemed to understand each other on a deeper level without much conversation. They just get each other.
Sexy times were spicying y'all! Kado never did anything sexual because he never was interest in a woman to the point of doing anything but Lucy changed all that. She knew what she liked and she loved to give him instructions and he was a very good student. They were so hot but also sweet. 🥰

I loved seeing everyone again. The women are so good towards one another and the guys are just being them so it's always fun reading whenever they appear.
I wonder where this overall arc will lead us but I'm so here for the ride.

I also noticed some bikers will be building Kado & Lucy's home/bunker so I wonder if we are about to meet the guys soon. ☺
Can't wait for the next book.

* I read an arc of this book. *

Kado.... Sweet silent, but utterly deadly Kado!

Lucy was working as a cleaner and was called to her clients' home late to clean. Once she arrived, things took a rather deadly turn. He was dead, and she came face to face with Kado. Lucy was then kidnapped by him, and he had not spoken a word to her. Confused, scared, and thinking she was her life was over, she compiled. When she was given the choice to stay with Kado over all other more grim choices, she chose Kado.

Kado had been watching Lucy for a while now, and to say he was fascinated with her was an understatement. He found her to be beautiful and kind. He wanted to take care of her, and this was his chance to do that.

Kado is so sweet. Lucy had found her own way to communicate with him, and the way they do is also sweet. The heat between them wow, he was so innocent, I loved that! This couple would have to be up there in my faves, I think. I really, REALLY enjoyed reading Kado. So I absolutely recommend 👌

Omg I loved this! Just everything! If I could give it more stars I would. This is an author duo I have read lots of books from but this is hands down my favourite.

I’ve been loving man obsessed lately and Kado knows right away that Lucy is the one for him. He is truly obsessed and I loved it. Seeing them learn to communicate with each other was honestly so beautiful and I just love that Kado found his person.

I loved that Lucy found her voice and confidence with Kado. She went from just surviving to thriving with him and I loved it. It was so good to see Kado flourish as well.

Despite these people being very morally grey the book itself actually felt quite wholesome and it was so easy to binge read. Definitely one I recommend!

Kado has intrigued me ever since we first met him so I’ve been salivating for his book.

I was extremely intrigued as to how Cala Riley were going to pull off a mute hero but they did and they did it well.

Kado is the silent but deadly type that will have you panting for more. I loved how he loved Lucy and because he didn’t speak, showed his love with his actions.

I adore this whole mafia series but there is something about this Yakuza men that steal my heart every time.

Lucy is in the wrong place at the wrong time and Kado claims her as his in order to save her life.

Kado doesn’t speak much and has significant childhood trauma. Lucy is understanding and patient and they build something meaningful.

I liked Lucy. She was a cute character. I liked Kado but the fact that he didn’t speak much made it difficult to really fall in love with him as a character. He wasn’t dominant and I like my heroes more alpha. Didn’t really love this story unfortunately and the smut fell flat for me.

We have an OTP here with Kado and Lucy! Lucy wants to get to know this silent assassin and she doesn’t bat an eye. Kado opens up to her and becomes her rock. The two of them have good banter and chemistry. We also get a bit of conflict from the Yakuza’s enemies keeping up the suspense. Overall a good read.

Just finished Kado. I loved it! While I only read 2 books in the series (definitely going to read the others) this book had everything I love in a book. The gruff silent man who’s very much touch her and … I love the flow of the chemistry between our MCs. Kado lost his voice as a child who’s now a ninja lurking in the shadows who sees our FMC Lucy a cleaning lady for his target. There are super sweet moments between them the banter and the full understanding of each others personalities. Cannot wait to read the other books in the series.

Kado is book eleven in The Syndicates, a dark, mafia romance series by Cala Riley. A really sweet and heartfelt story about Kado, a mute and Lucy, a cleaner who is in the wrong place at the wrong time. They say to watch out for the quiet ones and Kado doesn’t disappoint. A silent hero meets someone who unexpectedly understands him and through learning to communicate, their feelings grow. Their romance is captivating with some good twists and turns you won’t expect as their relationship grows. There is also some suspense and violence due to his job. A slow burn that ends up perfect for them.

We have met Kado in previous books so I was looking forward to finding out more about this mysterious young man. The story starts with a sad event in his childhood and immediately my heart went out to him. Fast forward and he’s now the silent but deadly assassin for the Yakuza. Everything changes for him when on a routine job for Kai, he ends up kidnapping a witness. He usually disposes of loose ends but he’d been watching her for a while so decides to take her.

Lucy is called to one of her clients late at night and walks in on a gruesome discovery. The killer is still there and grabs her. She is frightened especially as he doesn’t say anything but gestures his commands. His boss gives her some options and she chooses to stay with Kado. She is scared of him at first but he explains he would never hurt her and just wants companionship . She has had a tough life and now someone wants to look after her and make sure she is happy. A strange concept for her but she embraces the chance to live a better life and it quickly becomes obvious there is something between them.

He is obsessed with her but worries she will escape as soon as she can and never accept him as more than her captor. He works so hard to make her happy and I felt so sorry for him not being able to tell her his thoughts. Will she see past his tough exterior and inability to communicate. Is she is the missing piece in his life. Will she choose him because she can and not because she was made to.

Lucy goes from surviving to thriving under his attention. The best bit was her desire to share his life and every aspect of it. I loved how she stood by him and was so patient and kind. The sexy scenes between them were adorable and how they learnt to be affectionate was so touching. They give each other the companionship they both desired and a purpose in their lives beside work. The way they work it all out is wonderful and I was so happy for them. When he was so sweet and caring with her you forget he is a trained assassin. Kado and Lucy are definitely one of my favourite couples from these authors and I thoroughly enjoyed their story.

Lucy, has been living in survival mode since she was 18 after being pushed out of the foster system. Picking up jobs here and there to make ends meet, her latest job gained her a shïtty apartment, in a shïtty neighborhood. Being an on call maid wasn’t her ideal job but it was a job, and when one of her contracts calls her in the middle of the night she must go. Only when she shows up to a dark, quiet house the scene inside lands her in front of the cities Dark Prince. When she is given 3 choices 2 of which aren’t really desirable, but option 3 seems to have been the better of the 3 as she gets to truly know her captor who turns out to be more of a mute golden retriever.

Kado, lost his ability to speak while screaming in the most trägic scenario. The sadness lead him to finding his best friend/brother/boss, and the life he now lives as the Yaküza’s assassïn or whatever Kai needs him to do. Which is how he finds himself with in his current predicament of essentially kidnäpping a girl, but she is special he’s never felt for any other person what he feels for her, and she is practically a stranger. But will Lucy ever choose him for him or will she try to escape the first chance she gets? Even when she is the only other person who has ever heard him speak, when everyone else knows him to be mute.

While Kado has built a home that is essentially a windowless fortress locked down like Fort Knox, the evil has come to his front door, will he be able to keep Lucy safe, or will she become his savior?

Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Once again my favs have added more to this series, and this world. Kado will sweep you off your feet without ever literally speaking a word, but when he does he MEANS them and you’ll be a freakin puddle! Lucy realizes that Kado has brought an element to her life that she’s been missing, he’s given her purpose, while she has become his whole world in a short span of time. If you haven’t started this syndicatë series you are missing out!

I want to start by thanking the amazing ladies Cala and Riley for welcoming me to their ARC team; I’m so thankful!

Kado book eleven in The Syndicates Series by Cala
Riley releases October 17th!

I’ve been waiting to see what Kado’s book would bring us, considering his way of communicating, and I am beyond happy with how it was portrayed. The wholesome connection between him and Lucy was to die for. Every time another layer of who Kado is was revealed, I just wanted to hug him. I love Lucy; her upbringing didn’t define her, and she is a survivalist, showing that she can overcome anything while remaining calm and collected on the outside. She and Kado were made for each other.

Kado is mute due to a tragic event in his childhood and was taken in by Harukai’s father. Growing up, training to be the best of the worst, he became a silent “weapon” for the Yakuza Mafia, and he is good at it. He never thought about needing a companion until he started getting lonely seeing all his brothers find love with their women. Fate intervened when he was scouting for a job and came across Lucy. He knew she was the one for him; he felt it in his heart.

Lucy, having been thrown to the streets at 18, entered survival mode, doing any job to scrape by and currently being on call to clean for some questionable people. Unbeknownst to her, she caught a Yakuza’s eye and would soon meet him during a job, forced to make a tough choice for her life. She chose right, even though she didn’t think so at first.
While Kado is mute, he will speak only for her, which frustrates her. But he means every word he gets out, leaving you swooning every time.

A part I love in the entire syndicate series is the strong family ties. Even though they are all on “different sides,” the group of women welcoming each other with open arms and tea, in Autumn’s case, amazes me every time.

Kado is the quiet one, the deadly one, the protector, and the assassin. He lives a solitary life, he has friends and a family of choice, but he would like to have someone to come home to after he's done his job. The woman he's watched is in his sights and since she's a witness to his job, he can't let her go. He didn't want to in the first place.

Lucy's been living to survive for so long that she doesn't know how to live her life. When she stumbles upon something she should not have seen, her life as she's known it will be changed. Will she find that her life is better now or worse? When danger from outside comes into her life, Kado knows he will do whatever it takes to protect her.

I've loved the stories in The Syndicates Series since the beginning. The men may be dangerous and Alpha's but when it comes to the women in their lives, they seem to be softies. Not what you would expect from these men at all, but the women that they've chosen to spend their lives with are strong, independent, and willing to stand by their men and protect them just as much as the men want to protect the women. They may seem like damsels in distress, but they are fierce and protect just their men. I enjoyed Kado and Lucy's story. She didn't seem like the type to fall for Kado and be the one to stand beside him, but she was a great surprise. I look forward to more in The Syndicates Series to come.

I've been waiting for Kado's story for what seems like forever. His story is the eleventh book in the Syndicates series by the incredibly talented writing duo of Cala and Riley. With each book in this series, we are pulled further and further into the workings and people involved. I was so engrossed with this story that before I knew it I was at the end but wanted a little more.
Kado is the right-hand man to the head of the Yakuza. He is deadly, silent, protective and passive. He is also a man who seems to be in the background however in this book we see a sweet, caring, and loving side of him which his friends I feel he didn't have. Lucy, the woman that he has been obsessed with, is feisty and holds nothing back. The wrong place at the wrong time sees Lucy being introduced to Kado's life and what it entails. Strangely she is intrigued and wants more. They seem to have a connection that his friends find interesting. Even though Kado doesn't talk, he and Lucy have a way of communicating which sees a connection starting. A relationship that sees two people who seem to be opposites, but in fact have a lot in common, develops into one of sexual tension, the need to be with one another and wanting to protect each other.
I can't wait to see what the next book in The Syndicates series holds for us.

How in the world do you make a MMC that is mute and yet we still feel like we know everything there is about him? The way he communicates is amazing and honestly it gives Kado SO much more depth. Maybe that is what grabbed my attention the most, how much we truly get immersed in communication that it isn’t always talking to someone but also the non-verbal cues we give. In this book, we learn that those non-verbal cues speak just as loudly as verbal ones. Lucy has not had the best upbringing, but she works so hard to make her life now better. That is until she stumbles into Kado’s world and he has to keep her safe. She doesn’t understand him but since they are in close proximity, they have to figure out how to communicate together. It becomes very clear that Kado sees someone he really likes spending time with and as Lucy relaxes, appreciates all that Kado is. My favorite part though? The way they come up with their own way to communicate. Simple gestures mean very important things and when Lucy asks to learn, she is able to convince Kado there is a valid reason behind it he teaches her. These two seem the most unlikely couple, but they are the perfect for each other and truly bring out something the other didn’t know was missing. Such a fantastic read!

In past books Kado has always intrigued me. It was obvious that he had a kind heart but was also ruthless when necessary. Kado has always been fiercely protective of the women left in his care, but his alpha is actually next level when it comes to Lucy. So many things really surprised me about Kado, and I also found myself shaking my head at him, too, especially at his lack of ability to understand females! Luckily he has some seriously strong ladies that love him and could step into help when needed!
Readers introduction to Lucy was actually perfect, I loved how Cala Riley peeled away the layers so we really got to know Lucy. She definitely is complex and in desperate need of someone to love her. Kado came into Lucy’s life when she really needed him most, and not only provided her love but a family.
I love how Kado and Lucy’s relationship grew overtime, and how they really balanced one another out. While Kado takes care of Lucy the opposite is also true that Lucy takes care of Kado. From the start they had a connection and bond that neither understood. They really became partners with each other and I love how Luccy does not shy away from Kado’s work either. If you love kidnapping, forced proximity, a cinnamon roll alpha MMC then this one's for you!

I recently finished Kado by Cala Riley, and I have to say, it was a captivating read that kept me hooked from start to finish.

Kado, the protagonist, really struck a chord with me. His journey is filled with both sweetness and heartbreak, making him incredibly relatable. I found myself invested in his backstory, which added so much depth to his character. It’s refreshing to see such well-rounded characters that feel authentic and emotionally charged.

Riley's writing style is fluid and engaging. I loved how easily I could immerse myself in the story. The pacing was just right—there were moments that had me on the edge of my seat! The dialogue felt natural, which made the interactions between characters feel genuine and drew me deeper into their world.

While I thoroughly enjoyed Kado, I did find a few plot elements somewhat predictable. This was a minor drawback for me, but it didn’t overshadow my overall enjoyment of the book. The emotional depth and relatability of the characters really made up for it.

In conclusion, Kado is a strong addition to The Syndicates series that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys romance and character-driven stories. I’m giving it a solid 4-star rating for its engaging storytelling and well-crafted characters!

Ok I found a new trope to read! This was the first mute character I have read and I absolutely loved it!

Kado has always been a character that intrigued me. I mean the man is a mute and we don’t know the reason why he never talked. So to get his story was so exciting. But gosh the heartbreak from the get go. I should have known the reason behind it was sad but I never expected this.

So when Lucy came into the story, I gotta say I kinda loved how he made himself known to her. She shocked me when she first meets Kado. But I guess with how she grew up and where she had been living, I should have known she wouldn’t react to it normally.

But I loved their relationship. Yes I was a little iffy about it in the beginning but I loved how it developed. How Lucy was really the only one who knew how to understand and communicate with Kado, it was really so sweet. And Kado himself was by far the sweetest MMC to read! I know that sounds crazy to say he is sweet with what he does for a living lol.

My beautiful, broken beauty. I’ll take care of you.

In their 11th instalment of The Syndicates series, Cala and Riley deliver a gripping, emotional ride that pulls you in from the very first page. Kado, the enigmatic right-hand man of the Yakuza, has always lurked in the shadows, quiet but powerful. But when he locks eyes with Lucy—a strong, sassy woman who accidentally stumbles into his dangerous world—everything changes.

Kado’s silent, brooding nature is beautifully contrasted by Lucy’s fierce personality, creating a unique dynamic that makes their communication both challenging and compelling. The authors masterfully navigate their relationship, filled with tension, twists, and deep passion, making this book an unforgettable addition to the series.

With emotional depth, thrilling turns, and a romance that feels both intense and genuine, book 11 is a standout that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the next chapter.

This is the 11th book in this phenomenal series, and this is Kado and Lucy’s story.
Kado is the right hand man to the head of the Yakuza, and he is silent, deadly, protective, and powerful assassin, while Lucy is a sassy, and a strong character. When Kado sees Lucy when he is scoping out a job, he is instantly infatuated with her, and when she interrupts a job, he kidnaps her. Kado craves companionship, and Lucy understands him, and they complement each other perfectly.
This is a well written easy to read, emotionally charged story, which is action packed, with friendships, loyalty, survival, trauma, challenges, kidnapping, tension, twists and turns, passion, romance, undeniable chemistry, romance, and love, which leads to a spicy, entertaining, haunting, unpredictable, and tragic addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from these talented authors’ whose work I highly recommend.

So I started reading this ARC late and read it before the release date and OMG Cala Riley did again and love all the books in the series but this what wow I couldn’t put it down and the spice in this book wow I can’t wait to read the next book

Kado is speechless and he always lived his life just working for Kai and never wanting anything for himself until his boss finds his woman. When he saw what a woman in his kind of life brought to the table so to speak, he started to wish someone for himself that was only his. He craves companionship more than anything

Lucy never had luck on her side but that started to change when he witness something . so Kado had to take her with him because he didn't had it in him to off her so Kai being Kai offer Lucy 3 options and she choose Kadoo.

The woman of the group accepted Lucy and was suprise to see a other side of kadoo that they never seen before

KADO - ( The Syndicatea Series Book 11 ) OMG !!! There are no words just no perfect words to express what an incredible series this truly is . But then again it’s written by Cala Riley so that’s no surprise. Because what a fantastic Duo they are . I feel like I’ve been waiting forever to find about more about Kado - well his story finally here and it delivers in spades . ♠️ him and Lucy could not be more opposite but sometimes opposites really do attract and they just compliment each other so beautifully. Kado is the type of love story that I can promise will make you feel so many different emotions you won’t even see coming. You’ll be speechless, you’ll find yourself yelling outta pure frustration, you’ll be glued to the edge of your seat anticipating what will happen from one moment to the next , you’ll smile , you’ll sob and you’ll definitely find yourself rooting so freaking hard the whole way through.

I LIVE for this series from Cala Riley and there was something so magical reading about Kado and Lucy. Even with the most unconventional way their relationship started. One thing I adore about this book and the series as a whole is how it is all so interconnected with the previous characters. It adds such a layer of depth to the ongoing story that is occurring.
With that said, Kado, even with how he decided he was going to keep Lucy, is absolutely swoon. I adored his protectiveness even when he cannot verbalize it. Being in his head as much as we were really gives you perspective and the way he loves Lucy is beyond precious. I just want to give Kado a hug. And Lucy… Oh sweet Lucy has the patience of a saint with him and even though things started out a bit rough, the way she is with Kado is just chef’s kiss. These two just mesh. Such an amazing story with all the grit and twisty moments that Cala Riley is known for!

Lucy has had a tough childhood into adult life and is just trying to make it in life. After seeing something she never wanted too or never thought she would, she just wants to escape, live her life and forget all about it but that's just not possible with Kado.

Kado wants one thing, a love like no other. He finds it but has to go to lengths to get his girl. I mean after everything Lucy has been through, maybe taking her wasn't the best idea but honestly it worked out for them in the best way.

I have loved Kado from his appearances in other books in the series and I'm so happy that he finally got what he wanted and that Lucy no longer has to fight just to survive in life. They truly are the best for each other.

It was great to finally learn more about Kado, this stoic character who has been in the background of other books. I never would have imagined that he was still a virgin but given his background it all makes sense. I loved how much Lucy accepted him for who he was.

Lucy has spent her entire life fighting for what she has. It all changes when she witnesses a crime. Kado wants to keep her.

Seeing Kai and Kenji in relationships made Kado realize that he craves companionship.
He never thought he'd find it until he met Lucy.

She's beautiful and innocent and he can't let her go. Especially when she understands him without him saying a word.

Both are falling quickly for the other but will she be able to look past the monster and love the man that he is?

Thanks so much to the authors for this ARC to review.

I think I have only read a couple of books from this series, but I will definitely be reading more. I really enjoy this book, I loved Kado so much. He was sweet, obsessed and a sneaky assassin too? You can't help but love him lol Lucy is probably the reason this is a four star for me and not a five, whilst yes I like her with Kado, and the way she easily could understand him and made him feel understood and loved, I can't lie she got on my nerves a little, a few times through the whole book. Definitely wont doubt that she loves and adores Kado, but she just wasn't for me.
Would I recommend this book? Absolutely, its a fun read, it feels like a quick read as well and honestly it makes you want to read the rest of them if you haven't already
