About the Book The Relentless Tide is a dark and gritty page-turner that follows a Cape Cod cop pursuing a vicious serial killer with a particularly sadistic style of torturing his victims. Part police procedural and part psychological thriller, the tension mounts as the local and state police join forces and race against time to save victims and bring the killer to justice. About the Author Ted Komenda is a lifelong resident of the town of Barnstable on Cape Cod and has been a successful, restaurateur, residential builder and salesman. He is an avid boater who incorporates his local knowledge of Cape seaside villages and decades of experiences both on and off the water into his writing to create authentic and exciting storylines.
This was… fine. Started out strong, but eventually it got very repetitive in the detectives theorizing, “Well it looks like he did A, B, and C…” and then cut to a chapter from the killer’s POV where he confirms to the audience, “Yep, I did A, B, and C!” Every. Single. Time.
It even goes in the opposite direction, where the killer can predict exactly what the police are going to do at every turn. Just frustrating and predictable by the midpoint of the book.
Also the graphic detail of the mutilation scenes were not for me. And the clichéd schtick of the cops all teasing, “Is that reporter your giiirrrrllfriend?” And our main detective stammering like, “Shut UP! No she’s NOT.” Come on, man… these guys are supposed to be in their 40s?
I don’t know, it just got kinda dumb near the end, even though I was still curious what was going to happen. But then the final act comes in really fast and really short. Leaves you with a, “Huh, it’s over,” kind of feeling.
You don’t need to be from the Cape to enjoy Ted Komenda’s ‘ The Relentless Tide’. Revel in the twists and turns as we follow Barnstable PD’s Detective George Bacon in his quest to catch a serial killer on the loose in Old Cape Cod. The author’s writing includes authentic geological waterways, Cape eateries & watering holes which many readers will find fascinating & familiar. The surprise ending will surely leave you wanting more from Ted Komenda! Loved this book! Laureen Browning
This book was an absolute page-turner from start to finish! The pacing never slowed, keeping me engaged the entire time. What truly set it apart was the unexpected ending—refreshing and brilliantly executed. It’s rare to find a story that keeps you guessing until the very last page. I sincerely hope the author writes another book because I will be first in line to purchase it!
The book had graphic torture scenes i had a hard time with. I definitely did not want to read this before bed. I enjoyed knowing some of the places in Cape Cod.
