Big changes are afoot for Hitsuji, Hatoyama, and Hinata! Hatoyama has been tapped to be the manager of a cafe on the verge of closure, and Hinata has made his very first friend! As always, Hitsuji is ready to support both of them as much as he can. But when Hatoyama takes a break from the cafe one night to bring Hitsuji an umbrella, the young teacher's worst fear comes true -- one of his colleagues catches them together! Will their relationship finally be exposed?
A nice volume - I liked that both Hatoyama and Hitsuji have goals which are their own alone. The only reason why this gets 4 stars is that they're taking another unnecessary break (and it's like the 3rd one in the series). Quickly solved, it's just getting repetitive.
Finally was able to read the last two volumes of this manga, and let me tell you: this manga series is so ADORABLE. Will forever be one of my all-time favorites.
If you love single dad romances, read this now! It's completed ♡
Such a wonderful volume. The series is wrapping up, and characters are growing, commitments are being made, and this little family is reaffirmed time and time again.
Love, love, love this. The break may have been a bit uncalled for but I think it was for good reason. Hatoyama was able to figure out how to be a better dad on his own, and they both figured out their own personal goals.
I think they both always knew they wanted to be together, but it’s also important to know how to be alone. Can’t wait to read the last volume… I’m so sad that it’s the last though😭
This was sweet, as always. The intimacy in this one was great, too. The break felt really unnecessary though. It was really sudden and just felt like another obstacle for them for no reason.
The art of the eyes also seemed really off in several panels, with eyes going in two different directions, which took me right out of the story. Unless it’s supposed to be that way, then my bad.

I will forever love the cuteness and true exploration of emotions in this series--I'm so sad that the next volume will be the last one. 😭
This was adorable and I loved how we got to see further into this relationship, especially from one side of the couple. And as their lives are changing and their relationship is growing, I could feel the love these two shared jumping off the pages.
Volume 5 also explores the conversation that could be approached when letting the MC's son about his relationship with his old teacher. Even it wasn't fully brought out, I liked that it was approached because it means that there might either be a more in-depth conversation in the future, or that that adorable little one will be a lot more open-minded than his dad expects. Unlike the nosy assholes who needed to mind their business in this volume.
Finally, I loved seeing the dad making moves towards his career goals. I love to see a character who's worked so hard finally see their road leading to success. It made me feel so hopeful for their future!
The ending was adorable af and I need the next volume absolutely right now, thanks.
This series remains cute but also rather slow paced. Hinata may be more perceptive than the adults are giving his credit for, and this break idea they had could may have at least temporarily backfired a bit. It seems as if they reached the same or similar enough conclusions to start moving forward again, though. At some point, someone else at the school is going to find out though, especially if they want to really live together as a family like they both keep hinting. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, changes now with the rings too. Given how they came back together, it's hard to imagine either of them wanting to take off the rings or hide them, especially once they get used to wearing them.

As much as I liked this volume, I wasn’t entire sure what the focus of it would initially be. While the main focus was on what the next exactly step for Hitsuji and Hatoyama, what that means for them, and how they handle that particular conversation(s), there was also a side plot of Hinata’s new friend. I feel mixed emotions about seeing Hinata and his mysterious new friend because it felt like a set-up for something bigger that could happen involving the two boys, but then it got pushed to the side to bring focus back onto Hitsuji and Hatoyama. I hope the new little character is involved in the next volume since it’d be a waste to not give little Hinata some proper character development and just keep him more as just Hatoyama’s son.

A really cute volume. I like their dynamic and Hinata is a cutie. That Hitsuji also has a new friend with whom he can talk about things is great, but what was that woman‘s issue? I get the „playing favourite“ part, but she also came across as homophobic … Also, I don’t quite understand why they had to take that break to that extent. I mean, yeah, Hatoyama has to figure things out himself especially in regard to Hinata, but did they seriously have to go mia for a month?? That decision is hard for me to comprehend, but maybe some people only make it work that way. I love the outlook on their future though and cannot wait for the last volume!
This is a more slow paced bl series but I love it! It’s not just about Hitsuji and Hatoyama’s relationship. As an adult, you have so much more things to worry about than just your relationship…especially if you’re a parent!!! While, I didn’t love the idea of a “break”, I did like that Hatoyama realized that he could live without Hitsuji but he doesn’t want to!!!!!
I think this series is starting to slow down a bit, unfortunately. I did enjoy it, but I was really hoping that the story would progress more than it did, I can't believe they still haven't told Hinata. That conversation is the only thing I'm really gunning for at this point.
It's interesting that we have some similar communication/distance problems to the ones that bothered me in an earlier volume, but they make a bit more sense here. Hitsuji and Hatoyama are very happy and very much in love, and they have a strong family dynamic at their not-shared home. Because Hitsuji is still just coming over regularly to visit, and that seems to be a status quo they're not trying to disrupt.
There are a few complications in this volume. First, an intrusive teacher at the school sees Hatoyama and Hitsuji together and "jokes," in relief, that she's so glad they're just good friends and that she was mistaken about how they look more like lovers. This is the kind of casual homophobia, though, that makes all of Hitsuji's anxieties understandable. It's not as though everyone would suddenly be okay with the reveal that an elementary school teacher is gay, or in a relationship with a parent.
Although I honestly don't really see what the issue with the relationship would be at this point, because Hitsuji can't be playing favorites when Hinata isn't even in his class. But maybe there are stricter rules around that, I don't know.
While they get past that hurdle, they do agree to be more cautious in public. And then Hinata asks to have some friends over to play games, and mentions to his father that "sensei can't be here." Which creates a bit of a tailspin as Hatoyama tries to figure out how much he knows, how much he should know, and what they should do about disclosing their relationship.
Hitsuji suggests taking a short break to let Hatoyama agonize through the decisions on his own - he's Hatoyama's father and it's ultimately his choice what to do and when to tell him, etc. And Hitsuji is aware that he can be distracting and that sometimes Hatoyama struggles to carefully think through complicated scenarios.
Which is fine; Hitsuji wasn't breaking up with him and didn't think they'd be apart for that long. But the weeks keep stretching on, and suddenly he starts wondering if Hatoyama is deciding to break up with him, instead...
I liked their conversation in the park, with Hatoyama apologizing for how long it took him to get back in touch, and explaining that he really did take that time to figure out if he could be a proper single dad on his own. His conclusion, to Hitsuji's dismay, is that yeah he and Hinata would be fine. He doesn't need Hitsuji to come over and handle things for them, including meal times.
But that's the point. He would be okay, which means he's not relying on Hitsuji just for that - he wants Hitsuji in his life, as part of his family, not because he needs him but because he makes his life more complete.
It's very romantic and thoughtful and fits their relationship well.
One thing I'm a little iffy on is the decision to not tell Hinata about their romantic relationship until after elementary school...which is still years away. How long are they going to hide this from him? Doesn't that mean they can't live together, then? I get that it's very complicated to tell a kid things like this, and to ask him to keep it a secret, but he's already keeping the "sensei" part a secret - "stepdad" wouldn't be that much more, really, and I'm not sure it seems right to put a relationship on hold for reasons like that. But I'm not a parent, so maybe I just don't really get that part.
This continues to be a sweet little Japanese Manga romance. I feel like this wasn’t as good as previous volumes, but it was still entertaining. Half of the story Hatoyama and Hitsuji are apart. It’s just not as much fun. But the characters grew from it and it was good.
The son - Hinata has made a new friend. He goes to Free School and it must be a little bit like home school here in the states.
Hatoyama is fixing up a business for someone. I’m not sure if he is going to live there after or not. He is maturing into a great adult.
Also, big spoilers here:
The end, the two get rings. They mentioned marriage, so we will see what’s going to happen in the future.
Hatoyama wanted to take some time to figure out how to tell his son he’s in a relationship with his teacher. They took a month long break. Hinata didn’t really care. He just wants to be around the teacher and he knows he’s not supposed to have extra time. It’s funny, the kid sees them after they fall asleep together. It doesn’t bother him a bit.

This was another super sweet volume in this series 💖 Hatoyama and Hitsuji are just so cute!
It made me a lil emo that Hitsuji and Hatoyama took some time apart in this volume, but I get it 😩 They both needed the time to reflect on their relationship. I ultimately love how Hatoyama came to realize he could be a good dad without Hitsuji, but he WANTED Hitsuji around. That definitely made me melt 🥺
I’m curious to see how things will progress in the next volume and see if we get more of Yamanaka! ✨
I feel like it is well established that they know how to communicate at this point. So the constant “we should take a break” drama as if they both don’t damn well know how each other feels is tedious. The series shines when they are working together to deal with outside drama and problems.
Don’t get me wrong, still cute. I just wish we got to enjoy so many volumes without circling the same issue over and over and over and over…
I know everyone hated the break they had but it was so necessary for their growth as individuals and as a couple! Their interdependence is great but they also need to know how to be apart and for Hatoyama to know how to parent alone! Hinata needs to know his dad will be forever by his side. Wish I saw more dad and son bonding but I loved this volume!
This was good I was just expecting more from Hinayana making friends with a boy he keeps seeing at the park. I was curious why he was always there and I wanted to know more about his home life. And Hatoyama becomes the manager of a cafe that he starts renovating.
