YOU THINK WE'RE WHAT?!When Leon invites Marie to spend summer break with his family, everyone assumes the pair are as good as engaged. Marie, being little more than an aristocrat in name only, resigns herself and parts ways with Leon. But that smile and receding silhouette is hauntingly familiar, reminding Leon of his sister from his previous life. Can he really let Marie go?

I had been waiting for this volume to come out for a while. So much so that i read the entire thing in a single day. couldn't put it down. But, does that mean it was any good? Well, in a word yeah. not fantastic, but yeah. pretty dang good.

So in this one, Marie is betrothed to a terrible guy and Leon has to basically come to the realization that he needs to save her from this terrible marriage.

Just like the first volume, i really dig the relationship between Marie and Leon. Without giving away spoilers, i'll say i like the changes in this what if storyline that RADICALLY alters from the original series. As a refresher, basically in the original storyline Marie wins the hearts of all the original otome game protagonists and Leon gets with Angelica and Olivia, the original protagonist of the game before Marie stole it. in THIS version however, Marie fails to get with the main guys and Olivia takes her rightful place as the MC. Because of this, Leon spends all his time with Marie and none of the time with the other two.

It's a pretty cool series, basically a "What if his story revolved around the antagonist rather than the protagonist" and i'm ALWAYS for what-if's.

Marie is definitely one of my favorite characters in the series, whether it be this or the original, but it's obvious the author put a lot more into the writing and characterization of Marie in this story and as of this moment, having read 3 volumes of the original, and 2 of this one, it's hard for me to pick a favorite. But...if you twisted my arm and MADE me pick a favorite....i'd go with this one. It's just something about Marie and leon's back and forth that i really like. i wonder how this is going to resolve when it comes to these two. very excited to find out.

So then i bet you're wondering why isn't a 5? Well....there's a lot of political back and forth in this one. basically evil people going "mwahaha i'll force marie to marry this guy. mwahaha" that takes up a good 1/3 of this one and... meh on that end. the bad wedding plot takes up a large chunk of this volume which i felt could have been a bit less of the story.

other than that though i really enjoyed what i read. So yeah, ABSOLUTELY reading volume #3 when it comes out (which sadly wont' be until February) but i will definitely be getting it as soon as it comes out.

We continue to see Olivia and Angelica suffer without Leon being there to intervene in their story, as he meanwhile blunders toward the incest ending. The idiot brigade has a much smaller role in this version, which is better or worse depending on your opinion of them. I plan to read more of this eventually as I liked returning to this world.
