Ariel, an aspiring pack warrior with a secret crush on her future Alpha and destined mate, Xavier, has her life well-planned. But then the ruthless Hunters strike and steal two years of her life, subjecting her to unimaginable pain and torture.
Rescued by Alpha King Alex, who is grieving the loss of his own destined mate, Ariel finds sanctuary in his royal pack. United by their shared brokenness, an unexpected attraction blossoms between them.
Can they heal each other, or does destiny have other plans in store?
The first thing that caught my attention about this book was its well-crafted cover. From the countless books I could read in this genre, I chose Defying Destiny, and how glad I am that I did. It was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. The book managed to keep me captivated from the first line to its end, so much so that I'm already eager to read the second part because I became fond of several characters here. Similarly, there were other characters that I hated from the moment they appeared, which was the author's intention. I wanted to dive into the world of the book and scream at them because they were so blind! The author's narrative was very precise in introducing the characters and giving them their distinguishable personalities.
At one point, when I couldn't stand the attitudes of a character, the solution given, in my opinion, was perfect. That's how things should be resolved, and it made me grow fonder of the story.
The book has a pace that allows you to stay hooked and not want to stop reading. The world building left me wanting more, but I'm sure the world will continue to unfold as the story progresses in this Broken Queen series.
It's a light narrative, quick to read; in a couple of hours, I finished this novel and felt satisfied. I'll be following the author's work more closely; I really liked this first encounter with her work. I recommend it to anyone looking for a wolf-shifter-mated adventure.

I liked the book overall. There are some funny parts in it with Ariel's friendship with Dom, especially after the way he was in the beginning. It really annoyed me that the author had Ariel yelling all the time, instead of talking in a professional way like a warrior. Way too quick to forgive Alex for what he did when he banished her from the pack and he was very weak willed to give into his mother and have a mating ceremony with Lola. Also, should never even have kissed Lola after having done intimate things with Ariel. Gotta admit, having sex immediately after turning back human after weeks as a wolf living in dirt and getting covered in blood from kills was kind of a cringe moment for me. Shower and brush the teeth, first. Looking forward to reading the second book and seeing what new obstacles are put in their way.

This book started off like most typical shifter romances. The FMC has a plan- in this story she is an aspiring warrior and has her eyes set on her soon to be Alpha. However all plans do not always work in our favor. In this case, the FMC was rejected by the upcoming Alpha and has to re-configure her plan again. It was quick and easy read, typical shifter romance however I did get a little frustrated with the MMC. There were times I wanted to throw my device because of him, but thank goodness I didn't lol
If you are looking for something quick to read and attention grabbing, then this is it. However keep in mind that it does seem to be unfinished since it is the first book to the series.

Oh my goodness me. I have a 4 month old and I stayed up way too late reading this book! It was different to most wolf books as it didn’t have all the mindlink in it. You could see what was coming in it but it was an enjoyable read. I really liked the female main character as she had a spark in her, even though she was in pain. It’s open for another book, so I really hope we get to read some of the things that happened in those 2 years that brought us to this book!.

If you’re into a fierce and strong female lead who fights for what she wants even if it breaks her in the process and a broken alpha who has his own healing to do, this story is for you.
Ariel is a woman to look up to who’s had many ups and downs and her own mental and physical battles to fight.
Alex has had his own struggles but he’s an alpha that makes you want to applaud him and throat punch him at the same time in parts of the story.
Can’t wait to read the next in the series.

This is an emotional rollercoaster!! We've all read the same books a thousand times. Girl meets mate, girl gets broken, rejected, betrayed...... This book is of the same ilk except it's unpredictable in a very predictable trope. My heart was in my throat for nearly the entire novel. If you love the broken and abused dark tales then this is definitely for you!.

Once I’ve read the blurb for this book, I knew I had to read the book. I became hooked into the book, once I got a couple chapters into the book. I absolutely loved the characters, the plot, and the outcome of this book. I thought this book to be well written and completely entertaining. I would recommend this book to other readers who enjoy paranormal romance books.

The book was good, I could guess every turn there was, but with every shifter romance, that’s to be expected. Was a quick read that kept me entertained, however, the MMC loooved to piss me off, especially near the end when it was his own free will. you’ll understand when you read.

The storyline had promise but the writing was terrible. It was like listening to a teenager trying to tell a grossly exaggerated story about something and wondering how they expect anyone to believe this could happen. Someone is tortured for two years and then suddenly is over it and falling in love with everyone quickly. A king who is so stupid he can be tricked by his parents and a fake fiancé into proposing a life together. Over and over i kept waiting for something to redeem this book but it just kept getting worse. Do not waste time on this. There are so many better options for books out there.
Loved this book read it in one afternoon I just couldn't put it down. The MC's were great would recommend this book to anyone who likes werewolf romance. I can't wait for the next book.
