Allow me to introduce my name is Rosaleen O’Connor. There I was, living an ordinary midlife, quite a good one as far as I knew. I read this book as an ARC and enjoyed it. Rosaleen discovering her powers and becoming a stronger independent woman later in life was refreshing to relate to. The magic was introduced at a perfect pace so it never felt unrealistic. And the build up to the final battle had the right amount of suspense without dragging out the story. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I was definitely wanting something with a lot more substance and personal development from the MFC. I felt like it was a very generic storyline. Awful husband and life shattering divorce but wait there’s a special place left to her by family. Very Hallmark channel. The magic isn’t developed AT ALL and it’s as if the FMC has never heard of any kind of mythology which is just ridiculous since she has Irish roots. There just wasn’t any substance to the book, no real plot. I can’t even say she was discovering herself or her power because none of that really happens to any in-depth degree. Sure she has to make “the big decision” of light side or dark side but she’s more torn between which man to choose. No real healing from the divorce or discussions of her moving through it which would have been a cool take of coupling that with her magic. Overall very disappointed especially since the author put witch in the title. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Rosaleen learns her husband no longer wants in the marriage and she has no choice but to relocate back to her family home in Ireland. Without the chance to settle, the whole village moves into her living room and reminisces about her family members before her. Further bizarre occurrences take place throughout her stay in Ireland and far too many memory losses affecting her sleuthing. Eventually, events make sense and Rosaleen is transported into an entire new world. The story switches perspective between Finn and Rosaleen but the story follows Rosaleen in the first person. The change provides readers with both sides of the narrative, gaining information kept from Rosaleen. In addition to the variety of characters, there are more pronouns than character names so this is not a casual read.

Very entertaining

A wonderful escape!

Always lovely to start a new series, and this first book eased me gently but firmly into the story. I really resonated with the main character. I enjoyed following her enlightenment as she grows into her new role, her new life. Dramatic but not overly so. I like the tone of this book.

A good example of the genre

A little hard to follow
Our main character is Rosaleen O’Connor, Londoner, mother of college age Molly, and on unknowing wife to a man who has decided he wants a younger woman. With no money Rosaleen heads to her grandmother’s cottage. Then the story gets interesting. Quite a few characters are introduced to Rosaleen, and she ends up being challenged by what she is faced with in this little village. I liked the story, but Rosaleen seems to let life push her around. The author, Tara Heavey, does a good job of keeping the reader guessing what is going on, which keeps it interesting. The end of the book isn’t really the end, with 3 additional books so far. I’ve continued to read the next two books, so I am recommending this series to anyone who likes to read about paranormal characters.

All I can say is WOW! Rosaleen doesn't know the bloodline she has inherited but she is going to have to come to terms with it pronto.

If you love all things Witchy and Fae with Shifters thrown in for good measure, you are going to love this series.

I was so impressed by this book that I bought the next two in the series and I am hoping that there will be more.
