The Millionaire's Daughter

Allison Crawford dwelt in a wonderland of mansions and private jets, far from the gritty reality of the streets that J. T. James knew too well. But from the moment the seductive renegade careened into her privileged world, their fates were irrevocably entangled — and they were headed straight for peril.

J. T. had little patience for the leggy blonde with a trust fund, even if her delicate beauty did engulf him with restless hunger. But it was Allison who gave J. T. sanctuary in the tension-filled days as danger stalked them — and Allison who made his fantasies come true during their steamy, all-too-fleeting nights in hiding...

I really enjoyed this one. At first our hero really comes across as a bitter jerk, disdainful of people with money but then you see his selfless heart and work for runaways. His childhood left scars and deep anger within him and he thinks he only has time and space for his work. What he never counted on was the heroine who is everything he doesn't want. For one she is rich, ignorant of the despair that is his world. They meet at a fundraiser organised by her where he is a major jerk to her. At their second meeting when she comes to his place he is no better but that is when they both realise the attraction they share. Their third meeting is when the hero gets shot rescuing a teenager and seeks refuge in the heroine's haven. The heroine was kidnapped as a child and after that her dad protected her so much that it was stifling. I liked how she admits that she doesn't know his world but is willing to help him when he is injured and even call him out on his bs. Despite his growing feelings for her, he doesn't think she can fit into his life and world but she proves him wrong and when he tries to pull the over-protective crap she stands up to him. I felt the heroine showed great progression from coming across as shy at first to a lady who could stand up for what she wanted. The hero's backstory was also really sad, his rich mother just abandoned him for power and prestige. An engaging read.

I have been looking for this book on ANY site! It's like it doesn't exist. Like Kim Cates never existed. I've read quite a few of the Kimberly Cates historical romances and that's because her book Uncertain Angels, written as Kim Cates, made me love her writing. I could kick myself for getting rid of this book. There's no synopsis on here, or book cover, so I really hope I have the right book. In this story the hero has started a charity for homeless and at-risk kids, he meets and falls for a young, wealthy lady and they get embroiled in some sort of dangerous situation with one of his at-risk teenagers. There's pain in his past and she helps him to heal.
