Title: These Corridors
Author: Sudha Sikrawar
Rating: 🌟🌟💫

This book purports to be a cautionary tale, a beacon of light amid the murky depths of cybercrime. However, upon closer scrutiny, this work proves to be a disappointing exercise in clichéd storytelling and shallow moralizing.

At its core, this book is a narrative marred by predictability and lackluster prose. The supposed protagonist, a victim of cybercrime, is rendered as little more than a one-dimensional figure, devoid of depth or nuance. Instead of delving into the psychological complexities of her ordeal, the author opts for trite descriptions and superficial characterizations.

Furthermore, the author's attempt to infuse the narrative with a sense of urgency falls flat. Rather than eliciting genuine emotion, the melodramatic tone of the writing comes across as forced and insincere. Scenes that should evoke sympathy or outrage are instead met with indifference, as readers struggle to connect with the plight of the protagonist.

The author's penchant for moralizing only serves to exacerbate the book's shortcomings. Rather than engaging with the complexities of cybercrime and its impact on society, the author resorts to heavy-handed admonishments and simplistic solutions. The result is a narrative that feels preachy and didactic, lacking the intellectual rigor necessary to tackle such a multifaceted issue.

Moreover, it suffers from a fundamental lack of originality. The themes of love, betrayal, fear, and panic are recycled ad nauseam, offering little in the way of fresh insight or innovation. Instead of pushing the boundaries of the genre, Sikrawar remains firmly entrenched in familiar territory, content to rehash tired tropes and clichés.

In conclusion, this is a disappointingly pedestrian work that fails to live up to its lofty ambitions. With its shallow characters, predictable plot, and moralizing tone, the book ultimately falls short of providing any meaningful commentary on the scourge of cybercrime. Readers would be wise to look elsewhere for a more intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant exploration of this pressing issue.

This book initially struck me as just another book, and I approached it with a casual attitude. However, delving deeper into its pages, I realized its profound significance in today's technology-driven era. As our world becomes increasingly interconnected and advanced, the prevalence of various scams and cybercrimes looms large.

Sudha Sikrawar's book serves as an important warning about the dangers of online interactions that may seem harmless. I appreciate the author for addressing such a timely and crucial topic. "These Corridors" goes beyond just being a story.

It is a compelling tale that delves into the themes of bravery, resilience, and the dangers of cybercrime. Set in Lucknow, the story follows Vedikaa, who becomes a victim of a disturbing cybercrime scheme that preys on her genuine emotions and trust in social media.

The narrative skillfully navigates through a myriad of emotions, from joy and love to betrayal and panic, taking readers on an emotional rollercoaster. Through Vedikaa's story, the author effectively highlights the pervasive threat of cybercrime in today's technology-driven world. The book serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of online safety and vigilance, urging readers to be cautious and skeptical of deceptive online interactions.

Sikrawar's storytelling captivates the reader, fostering a deep connection with the protagonist's struggles and triumphs. The authenticity of emotions portrayed throughout the narrative adds depth and resonance to the storyline.

While initially slow-paced, the book gradually unfolds into a gripping thriller that keeps readers hooked until the very end. Vedikaa's journey serves as a cautionary tale, prompting reflection on the vulnerabilities inherent in online relationships and the need for vigilance.

I admire Sudha Sikrawar for her insightful storytelling and for bringing attention to this important issue. This book is not only engaging but also serves as a valuable resource for navigating the complexities of our digital world. Highly recommended.

‘These Corridors’ is a gripping crime thriller revolving around the experiences of a victim of cybercrime. Written as a cautionary tale, the story is a motivating story of a girl’s courage when faced with impossible odds.

The story is about Vedika, a teacher leading a normal life. Her life takes a curious turn when she accepts an Instagram friend request from a man named 'John Rose'. Soon John befriends her and professes his love for her and even his desire to marry her. What starts as a friendship takes a sinister turn when John starts manipulating Vedika to send her money under different pretexts. What is John’s reality? Will Vedika be able to get out of this predicament.

The story starts slowly but gathers momentum as Vedika finds herself caught in web of lies and deception. The story accurately portrays the danger of social media and online interaction, serving as warning for anyone addicted to social media. The story immerses you with Vedika’s troubles and how she begins to sink deeper and deeper in her troubles. The story has many parallels with real life stories so the story is really believable.

What sets the story apart is Vedika’s character and her bravery and resilience to overcome her troubles. As a reader, you feel connected to Vedika due to her good nature and genuine desire to help anyone in need. Vedika’s actions are questionable at times but her pushback is inspiring making you read through till the end. The book once again highlights the importance of online safety and avoiding cyber fraud. The author has always written stories about seemingly common people with uncommon spirit and this story is another inspiring story capturing the protagonist’s courage and struggles.

Overall, ‘These Corridors’ is an engaging story with well crafted characters and a strong plot with a message. A great read for mystery lovers.

Vedika is a normal teacher leading a normal life. Her life takes a turn when she accepts an Instagram friend request from a man named 'John Rose'. How will accepting a friend request from a stranger and having a casual conversation alter her life?
.
A good crime thriller keeps you at the edge of your seat. In that sense, this book didn't meet the standard. From the preface, the plot of the story becomes very clear and takes away any element of surprise. If the backdrop of the story had been shared at the end of the book, it would have been better. In the first chapter, where the protagonist starts writing a letter to her father, a lot of problems faced in the society are shared. But the issue is, so many problems are cramped within a few pages that it becomes almost impossible to ponder on any issue properly. A mix of narration and dialogues is used, without proper distinction between the two. The message that the author tries to convey is a very important one which every person must be made aware of. However, a lot of spelling and grammatical errors tends to shift the focus from the main point. A lot of us share true stories to make a strong impression and to stress our points. Even though this book shares about the very important issue of cyber impersonation and deception, I wouldn't recommend this book to make a point. Had the delivery of the story been better, this could have been a good book.

These Corridors, a compelling crime novel by Sudha Sikrawar, illuminates the realities of cybercrime. The protagonist of the tale is Vedika Singh, an Indian science teacher who resides in Lucknow. Focusing on the technology addiction of our society "Three Corridors" presents a story which is interesting as well as thought provoking. The main character Vedika writes a letter to her father narrating her life experiences. In the beginning I was not much connected with the book as the letter begins with random mentioning of current social problems in various fields. Even if its relevant I was bored while reading. After a while the letter comes to a point were Vedika tells about her life. From there it felt good.

The narration was not that much captivating but as the topic was serious it kept me going. The emotional connection was very well there. The pain, fear and horror faced by a cyber crime victim is sensibly portrayed through Vedika. Vedika is a representative of all those people who were going through a disturbed and fearful phase of their life as a cyber crime victim.

This story is a much needed one for today's generation especially, for teenagers. This book highlights the danger and depth of cyber crimes and the need to be beware of it. We need to be super cautious about our online relations or social media connections. It also encourages the real life victims to open up and stay strong in their fight for justice instead of being broken up.

These Corridors by Sudha Sikrawar is a real account hat explores the course and aftermath of a well planned fraud. of resilience in the face of cybercrime.

The narrative dives deep into the heart wrenching experience of a victim,  navigating through themes of joy, grief, love, betrayal, fear, panic, i.e. a gamut of emotions and suspense, thus offering a warning to the readers.

The presentation in the form of a letter is very different and new. The manner in which terms and day-to -day activities are described is really impressive.

The title is apt, with regards to both the setting and the theme of the story. The colours chosen for the cover, black ad white creating a maze represents the amount of hard work and thought put into creating this piece. A must read I would say.
