A naughty fairy tale standalone with a HEA SEDUCED FOR A NIGHT. TAKEN FOREVER.
With only nine months left at Stanford, and despite being top of my law school class, I take leave to care for my sick mother. That means juggling three jobs, the best of which is researcher for novelist, and syndicated columnist of "Cat Does Crime," Cat Summer.
One evening after leaving my Cat's apartment, I literally run into the hottest man I've ever seen, Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome in a perfectly fitted suit that screams wealth and power, the kind I want to make for myself. The kind I will make for myself just as soon as my mother is healthy again. I don't have time for a distraction but it doesn't seem to matter where this man is concerned.

Dirty Boss is the fifth book in the Scandalous Billionaires series by Lisa Renee Jones. This book really sucked me in from the very beginning, and held my attention until the very end. I love this author's writing style and storytelling, and this billionaire series is one of my favorites.
Cole and Lori had crazy chemistry from the moment they met. I honestly felt like I was watching the movie instead of reading the book. It was all so realistic, which I loved. The overall story was really good, and I would definitely recommend it.
All the feels as always! Loving this series. I enjoyed watching Lori and Cole’s relationship grows and fell in love with this couple all over again... I just enjoyed everything about this book, it has all the feels I have come to expect from this amazing author. Overall rating: 4.5 stars!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review..
Started devouring this book in the first month it was published (love the cover btw) Writing wasn't the best I've read but it did the job since it still had a plot and character development. Also can't say no to a guy who likes to be on his knees (that often)
Currenlty waiting to see if Cole decides to throw Reese into the mix for a threesome or foursome - doubt it will happen (didn't)
God the 2nd half of this book took FOREVER - also what was with THOSE TIME JUMPS Kinda happy the book is over TBH
Fav parts: - I’m not this person. I don’t want to pretend to be her. I want to be her and until I can, I won’t. - “You think you can ruin me in one night?” “I’d like to try.” - “Any second thoughts about coming here?” “No,” she says again. “Then you still want me to fuck you,” I say. “No,” she says. “I want to fuck you.” I laugh because she isn’t being bold and sexy. She’s playing tug of war. “No competition though, right?” - I almost revert to pre-law school and add “I guess” but cut it off. I know better. Indecisive words tear away your control and your power. - Some part of me also knows that the more I challenge him, the more he will demand. I realize then that there is more to this night than me simply wanting an escape. There is me craving the battle of wills with a man like this one, the adrenaline rush of battling an equal, and winning, or at least, not falling. For the first time in what feels like forever, Cole is giving me that rush and I had no idea how much I needed it. - Sweetheart. He keeps calling me that and I like it too much. - “Because the danger of never letting go is you lose yourself. When you lose yourself, you lose what you’re after, why you’re doing what you’re doing. Been there, done that.” - “I know how to size people up with incredible accuracy.” In other words, I sized him up. “I never quit,” I add, “and I know how to set priorities and limits with great discipline. For myself and those around me.” - maria calling her cinderella because she knew and understood her story was kinda sweet - I settle my briefcase and purse on a barstool. Cat is about to sit down when Reese catches her shoulders and pulls her back against him. “Relax, sweetheart,” Reese murmurs near her ear, the “sweetheart” another little tidbit to remind me of that intimacy between Cole and I that shouldn’t exist but does. - Her expression is conflicted. “I’ll pay you.” “You already paid me,” I say. “With help and friendship in all kinds of ways.” I key my MacBook to life. “Did you send me the file?” - You can’t love someone and not need them, honey (motherly advice I suppose) - “I don’t know if I want to cry, kiss you, or hit you right now.” - My heart squeezes and so do my eyes. I don’t answer. I am not going to answer. - I feel the crush of emotions he creates, and I smell him everywhere. I am angry all over. - I rush down the hallway to find him standing at the living room window on the phone, his back to me, a white tee stretched across his broad shoulders, jeans hugging his powerful lower body. He looks deliciously male. His voice is deliciously rich. I hate that I notice.
Funny moments: - I’m having the most sexual experience of the past two years of my life, on the street with a stranger. - “I thought you couldn’t do drinks tonight, Lori?” “Maybe I just didn’t want to do drinks with you.” His lips, which are full, beautiful lips that I shouldn’t be looking at, quirk at the sides. “Is that how it is?” he asks, amusement in his blue eyes. “I haven’t decided,” I say, because he’s a man who consumes a woman, and I can’t afford to be consumed. “Then I consider that a win.” “How is that?” I query. “This morning you said no,” he points out. “Now you’re not sure.” - Sex has a way of distorting reality and then punching it right back in your face. - “You need to get out and date, honey,” my mother says. No, I think. Forget the dating. I’ll take Cole’s hand on my ass, just one more time. (lmao) - I’m alone in the apartment, and I put another huge slice of chocolate cake on my plate. I might as well grow a bigger butt. No one is going to be seeing it anytime soon. - “I want a lot of things,” he says, his eyes flicking to my mouth and lifting. “Coffee isn’t one of them” - I peel off my jacket and tie, and walk to the bar, grab a glass for whiskey and decide I need ice or I’m going to drink way too fucking fast. - “No woman should leave Paris without being spanked.” - “What comes next, Lori?” I ask, my teeth now scraping her hip. “Apparently you spank me,” she whispers.
Build up: - “You really are arrogant.” “Yes. I am. But I’m also not wrong. I’ll be back next week.” “I don’t want to know that,” I say. “I don’t want to know you.” He arches a dark brow, the moonlight catching on the renewed challenge in his eyes. “No?” “No,” I say, but even to my own ears, I do not sound convincing. I do want to know him. It’s just the wrong time. The wrong place. - “Why?” “There’s the question I need answered. Do you want to know me?” “No,” I lie, despite hating lies. He leans in close, his hand back at my waist, scorching me, branding me, his cheek against my cheek. “Liar,” he whispers by my ear, and that whisper, his warm breath on my neck and ear, shivers a path through every inch of me. - considering I can still taste you on my lips, this party might just be tolerable.” I stop walking and look at him. “Cole—” He turns to face me, intimacy and warmth in his blue eyes. “Yes, sweetheart?” “Don’t say anything like that in that room, please,” I say. “Because I’m not sure I can hide my reaction.” - “I don’t want to be your kept woman.” I laugh. “My version of a kept woman is you naked, tied to my bed, with another spanking thrown in just for the pleasure of it.” I stroke her cheek and soften my voice. “We’ll figure it out. I promise.” I don’t give her time to argue. “Tell me something I don’t know about you.
Omg the plane scene: I cover her hand with my hand. “Any notable reason for that fear?” “I didn’t say fear,” she corrects. “I simply said that I don’t like it.” “Any notable reason not to like it?” I ask, trying not to laugh at that correction. “Just the fear of crashing.” She laughs and looks at me. “I just admitted to being afraid.” “Yes,” I say, and this time I laugh with her. “You did.” The plane starts to pick up speed. “I really hate take-off,” she pants out, looking out of the window. I squeeze her hand. “Look at me again.” “Not right now,” she says. “Now,” I say, reaching across her and pulling the shade. “I need to see,” she says, reaching for the shade I hold in place. “If you can’t see take-off, you can’t see what you can’t control. Trust me. It works. Leave it down. Try it for me.” She inhales and lets it out. “Okay. But you better be right.” “I am right,” I say, sinking back into my seat. “Now, look at me.” She inhales again and turns her apprehensive, green-eyed stare on me. “You’re beautiful,” I say.
Smut moments: - He’s kissing me, tongue licking into my mouth in a deep, drugging stroke, followed by another. I moan softly, and any will I had to resist is gone. I sink into the taste of him, drinking him in, and he tastes like cream and whiskey, and sin and satisfaction. I melt into the hard wall of his body, and he is so damn hard everywhere, and yet, this is the easiest thing I’ve done in months. - “You haven’t invited me over there,” I say. “I didn’t know I had to.” “You do,” I say, trying to turn my hesitation into my control. “Then I am.” He holds out a hand to me. “Come over here.” - His hand caresses my neck, his mouth lowering, breath warm on my lips, lingering there a moment before his tongue strokes deep and he kisses me, a deep, drugging, over too soon kiss, before he says, “Do I taste like I want you to leave?” “You taste like trouble,” I say, the pure need I feel for him, when I’ve disallowed myself that feeling for so long, is dangerous, and yet addictive. - I have a plan for you, Lori whoever-you-are. Since I don’t get a promise of a last name and a phone number,” he says, dragging my mouth to his. “I get everything else.” “Everything?” I ask, my belly clenching with all the possibilities that word holds. “All of you,” he says. “Define all of me.” “For this one night,” he says, leaning in, his lips near my ear, the rasp of his light stubble scraping erotically along the delicate skin of my cheek. “I own you.” - “No one owns me.” “Then, sweetheart, you’ve never been properly fucked.” I slide my hands under her jacket, settling my palms on her shoulders. “I guess that depends on how you define properly.” - “It’s not about pain, Lori. It will sting at most. It’s about escape. It’s about the freedom to be vulnerable for just a little window of time when you don’t dare any other time.” - I suck in air as the sensation of his touch spirals through my body, and when he begins tracing my clit with one hand, one finger, he also begins a slow pat over the top of my sex with the others. It’s nothing anyone has ever done to me before, but it’s good. It’s really good, each pat rocking me with spikes of pleasure. I am wet, I am aroused, I am so on edge, so ready to come, that I’ve forgotten everything but wanting more, needing more. - “Do I taste like I want you to leave?” he asks again. “You still taste like trouble, which is why if I had any sense, I would have left before now.” “But you didn’t. You haven’t, and you shouldn’t.” He doesn’t give me time to reply. He scoops me up and carries me toward the bedroom, and in a few moments, I’m on the mattress with his big body over me, the heavy weight of him pressing against me. - “You forgot to replace the panties I tore off you.” “I didn’t forget,” I say. “I wasn’t letting you ruin yet another pair.” (haha been there) - “I’m not leaving this time,” she says, which is the exact answer I’m looking for. “I’m going to stay around and own you this time.” I laugh. “Own me, sweetheart,” I say, and I’m not above having a momentary fantasy of her naked body draped over my lap again, only this time her mouth is on my cock, which motivates me to add, “I’m looking forward to it.” “Why do I know you just had a dirty thought?” she asks, opening her computer. “Because I did,” I say, leaning closer. “Would you like me to share it?” “No,” - I kiss him. “Don’t laugh at me.” “Or else what?” “I’ll find a way to punish you.” - We both laugh, and she blushes a pretty, sexy pink. “In my tequila-laden mind that went differently.” “Like the tequila made you call me an asshole downstairs?” I tease. “The tequila kept me from saying it sooner.” “Is that right?” - “Come on my fingers,” I say, my lips next to her lips. “Then on my cock.” I kiss her, and slip two fingers inside her. She’s wet, and hot, and she pants into my mouth in that sexy, sweet, way she does. The more I lick into her mouth, the more I stroke her, and the more she arches into me. - I want her on top. I want her to ride me. I want her to show me how much she wants me. And she does. - “Show me how you want me to touch you,” I order, knowing Lori is reserved, but wanting her to let me see that other part of her I know exists. The part that let me spank her. - His mouth comes down on mine, and suddenly I’m pressed against the refrigerator, his big body framing mine, and he is kissing me, a deep passionate, tormented kiss that is darker than any kiss I’ve ever experienced with this man. It’s pain and torment that didn’t just happen today. It’s more, it’s something he’s never let me see and I don’t understand. - Once I’m there, he’s kissing me, a drugging, intense, burn-me-inside-out kiss, that is forever and not long enough.
Lori Havens is one of Cat Summer’s part-time research assistants. She works at a coffee place for a couple of hours in the morning, works for Cat and is also a part-time waitress at a restaurant when they can use extra help. She just took a full-time job too. Lori was at the top of her law school class at Stanford with less than a year to go when her mother had a stroke shortly after her father died leaving them with his gambling debts and other debts. Cat wants Lori to go back to school. Lori hasn’t told Cat that they still have hundreds of thousands in debt to pay. She doesn’t want Cat and Reese to give her any charity. While heading from Cat’s apartment to her full-time job at a law firm, Lori bumps into a handsome stranger. He asks her to meet him for drinks, but Lori turns him down.
After work, Lori meets Cat in the bar in Cat’s building. Cat and Reese have found a law consortium program that takes on one intern for the duration of their schooling. The winning intern gets $50,000 at the start of the program and $50,000 upon completion of the program. If Lori is the one chosen, she will get to finish her degree. Cat has to rush off to a meeting but insists that Lori stay and have a drink. Across the room, she sees the stranger from that morning. He comes over and introduces himself as Cole. He has to leave in the morning but will be back in New York in a week. Lori panics and leaves.
However, Cole follows Lori and kisses her. She decides to go for it and tells Cole that she wants to be with him just for the night and no personal information is to be shared besides their first names. They have an incredible time but Lori leaves while Cole is in the shower.
Reese merges firms with a Houston lawyer and his firm is now called Summers & Brooks, Attorneys at Law. They are a new member of the consortium. When Lori wins the scholarship, Reese is excited to tell her that they are lucky enough to be the ones that she will be working with first. Since Reese’s new partner is establishing his team in New York, he will be Lori’s boss and mentor during the program. Little does Lori know the Brooks of the firm is none other than Cole, her one-night stand. Cole is also surprised to find out that the new intern at the firm is his Lori.
Part Two starts with Lori now being a full fledged lawyer who does the closing arguments for one of Cole’s cases and helps them prove their client is not guilty. Cole and Lori are also now married. While on the honeymoon, they find out there is major fall out from that high profile case.
This triggers a whole bunch of issues for Cole and Lori. They have deal with their family drama and past relationships that formed who they are now. They also end up trying to help Cole’s former assistant, Ashley, who moved to Paris to be with her fiancé.
Another great story in this series.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
DIRTY BOSS is the first instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’s contemporary, adult SCANDALOUS BILLIONAIRES erotic, romance series. This is law student Lori Havens, and attorney Cole Brooks’ story line.
NOTE: DIRTY BOSS is was originally released as a duet-DIRTY RICH CINDERELLA STORY and DIRTY RICH CINDERELLA STORY : EVER AFTER
Told from dual first person perspectives (Lori and Cole) DIRTY BOSS follows the building relationship and forbidden romance between law student Lori Havens, and power attorney Cole Brooks. Lori Havens is struggling but looks can be deceiving. The recent death of her father, and her mother’s recovery from a stroke, our heroine, a former Stanford law student, is desperate for some me-time which includes a one-night stand with a stranger. Fast forward to present day wherein Lori Havens will come face to face with her future, and her past-Cole Brooks-her one night stand –and the man who has been tasked with mentoring our heroine as she returns to the study of law. What ensues is the forbidden romance between our leading couple, as they struggle to keep secret their growing attraction for one another, as Cole continues to mentor the woman with whom he is falling in love.
DIRTY BOSS is a slow building story line where Cinderella meets her Prince Charming, a prince who continues to look for the woman that stole his heart. There are some issues between the couple including misunderstanding and jealousy when met with the possibility of previous love interests, as well as our heroine’s difficult acceptance of financial help, and the obvious wealth of the man that she loves. The premise is engaging as our couple navigate the push and pull of a forbidden relationship but the majority of the story line conflict is the perceived reaction of others, and our heroine’s blind spot as it pertains to her need to remain at home.
DIRTY BOSS is a sexy, sassy and spicy story line; a spirited and seductive tale about two people caught up in the storm; torn between trying to help, and losing all control. Lisa Renee Jones brings together several members of Walker Security as they place themselves in harm’s way to protect and investigate the who, how and why of the people in Lori and Cole’s life. The premise is intriguing and inviting; the romance is passionate, erotic and intense; the characters are colorful, dynamic and alive.
Another duet (Dirty Cinderella Story) rereleased as a single (long) book, this is the story of Lori and Cole, and appears to take place between the first and second halves of Reese and Cat’s book, Dirty Lawyer.
It will probably make more sense to read the first half of Dirty Lawyer before this one, because Lori is Cat’s researcher, and Cole is Reese’s partner, but you can probably do it as a stand-alone.
I gave this 4 stars because it had a lot more moving parts than Dirty Lawyer. Where that duet revolved around 2 high-profile trials, this one keeps adding complications and ends up less focused.
I liked Cole, but Lori got a little less interesting as the book progressed. She seemed to lose herself as the plots got more involved, whereas Cole seemed to remain more tightly focused. Lori started as a struggling woman working several jobs after dropping out of law school when her father’s death left her and her mother without the money to pay for her mother’s medical care after a stroke. One of those jobs was as an assistant to Cat, the legal columnist in Dirty Lawyer.
On the way home from Cat’s one evening she literally runs into Cole, a lawyer in town negotiating to partner with Reese, Cat’s husband. A steamy one night stand ensues, and she disappears the next morning.
Reese and Cat want to help Lori, and find her a scholarship/fellowship type program to finish her degree and work at Reese’s firm for his new partner. Of course it’s Cole. They negotiate their way into a relationship, and then lots of different things happen. Lots. Possibly some of this is setting up for the third book, Dirty Obsession—reading that next.
We have Walker Security and Savage involved here too, if you’ve read those series.
Like Dirty Lawyer, I don’t think this is exactly a romance—more like a thriller-adjacent book with lots of sex. Cole loves Lori, but he’s not exactly a romantic guy. To be fair, she’s not either. I got the feeling by the end that this was trying to tie together a few different series and I’ll have to go looking through Jones’ books to find where some of the many plots in this book get resolved, because it doesn’t happen in the second half of Cat and Reese’s story.
I enjoyed it, enough to read the next one, but maybe a little less than Dirty Lawyer.
Intense… Riveting… Sensual Dirty Boss focuses on two superstar Attorneys, their loves, and the firm. The story is packed with intense interactions between super smart, super aggressive attorneys. With Lori’s law education, her full-time job is as a researcher for Reese’s wife Cat who is “Cat Does Crime”, a New York Times column, as well as a best-selling author. Reese is so impressed with Lori’s legal skills that he hires her to do legal research for his law office. He also helps her get back on track to finish her law degree. If you love a romance that’s HOTTER than a forest fire and true and forever you will love this story. I love this story. I received an advanced copy of Dirty Boss from Booksprout and these are my thoughts. Linda
Lisa Renee Jones' book "Dirty Boss" is an emotional and gripping story that combines the novels "Dirty Rich Cinderella Story" and its sequel, "Dirty Rich Cinderella Story: Ever After". This version offers an even richer experience, as Lori and Cole's story is now one comprehensive book that follows their story from the moment they meet, showing how they learn to overcome challenges together.
The first part shows how Lori and Cole, who face similar difficulties not only professionally but also emotionally, find each other. Lori's determination and struggle to make ends meet and support her mother touches the reader, while Cole's role as a successful lawyer, despite his outward confidence, reveals his inner struggles. The book is able to reveal both the deeper layers of the characters and the emotional bond that binds them together.
The second part shows a deeper, more complex side to their relationship. The lovers are not immune to the conflicts of their past, as a case on their return from honeymoon sparks new tensions and unquestionably becomes a test of their relationship. Under public pressure and media spotlight, Cole and Lori learn to fight together. Here, Lisa Renee Jones deftly plays with the characters' depths and vulnerabilities, portraying a mature romance that seeks not escape but a shared solution to problems.
By merging the two stories, "Dirty Boss" offers a complete picture, full of deep emotion and excitement, showing how a couple's relationship can evolve from tender moments to intense difficulties. The Walker Security team and the secondary characters add further layers to the story, especially the thread of Cole's former assistant Ashley, which holds even more excitement for the future.
Overall, "Dirty Boss" is a read that can engage both romance lovers and those craving suspense. Once again, Lisa Renee Jones has proved that she is a master at weaving romance, drama and tension into a single story. For those looking for a satisfying read full of emotion and twists, "Dirty Boss" is the perfect choice.

Dirty Boss is the fifth book in the Scandalous Billionaires series. It is a standalone novel within an interconnected series. Dirty Boss is a steamy, captivaing and suspenseful read that follows the tale of two individuals caught in a storm of passion, intrigue and danger, adding aspect of Walker Security members working to protect them. The book is a fun and engaging read that delves into the complexities of personal and professional relationships filled with intense romance, intriguing characters, and thrilling suspense.
Despite being a top student at Stanford Law School with only nine months left, Lori takes a leave to care for her sick mother. Her favorite job is being a researcher for a novelist and a syndicated columnist for Cat Does Crime by Cat Summer. One evening, she sees a very attractive man who exudes wealth and power. Despite not wanting any distractions, she finds herself drawn to him. The story follows the developing relationship between law student Lori Havens and power attorney Cole Brooks. Lori, dealing with personal struggles, has a one-night stand with Cole, sharing an unforgettable night, who later becomes her mentor. Impressed by her work, he hires her as an intern. As they work together, they struggle to resist their attraction and maintain professionalism, forget about their past encounter and growing chemistry. They navigate a forbidden romance, facing challenges like jealousy and financial differences. Lori is independent and caring, while Cole is single by choice and a successful lawyer who finds himself drawn to her. Their chance meeting may be the start of something new for both of them.
Love means you can be hurt, but it’s worth the risk. What a fantastic tale about two souls that are meant to be together. Sometimes the right people meet at the wrong time. Lisa Renee Jones brings these wonderful characters to life and pulls you in from the very first page to the very last. I was so pleased that there were two parts to Lori’s and Cole’s story that were included in one book. The story has love, intrigue, and absolutely wonderful characters!
Lori is a strong independent woman who cares deeply for those in her life and will do everything in her power to right the wrongs of others. She’s been dealt some difficult blows in her life that she has to work through when she finds the beginning of the end is a new beginning.
Cole is a top winning lawyer who’s chosen to be alone until he literally bumps into Lori and can’t get her out of his mind. Ever wonder if there is a kind of kindred spirit one knows by merely bumping into a person on the street? Is Lori’s and Cole’s chance meeting just that? A chance or a new beginning for them both.
This statement from the book sums it up: “I believe we end up where we’re meant to be. We just don’t always understand why until much later.”
If you love romance, suspense, and incredible steamy scenes, you’ll love this! While this is book 5 in the Scandalous Billionaires series, you can read this standalone. However, I recommend reading Dirty Lawyer first to understand the nuances of the additional characters in this story.
Cole, a successful businessman in town to seal a deal, encounters a beautiful and intriguing young woman outside her friend Cat's apartment. An instant attraction sparks between them, leading to an unforgettable night together. However, the next morning, Cole finds himself unable to locate the mysterious woman he spent the night with, leaving him wondering about her identity.
In a twist of fate, Cole discovers that his mystery girl is none other than the new managing owner at the law firm he's partnering with. He's captivated by her strength and her work within the firm. When she wins a scholarship, he seizes the opportunity to have her work closely with him as his newest employee-intern.
As they navigate their newfound professional relationship, Cole and his mystery girl find themselves fighting an undeniable attraction. They struggle to maintain boundaries and avoid blurring the lines between boss and employee. Adding to the complexity, they must keep their friends, especially Cat, in the dark about their initial encounter and the sizzling chemistry between them.
The story takes readers on a captivating journey as Cole and his mystery girl grapple with their feelings, try to maintain professionalism, and keep their friends unaware of their secret past. It's a fun and engaging read that explores the challenges of balancing personal and professional relationships, especially when fate intervenes in unexpected ways.
Lori works for Cat who writes crime novels and the popular series of Cat Does Crime stories. This isn’t her dream job but she had to leave law school to take care of her sick mother and this job gives her a lot of flexibility. She isn’t looking for a relationship but one finds her anyway. Cole is a successful attorney. He is merging his company with Reese’s company. He never expects that life is about to have him meet the woman meant to be his.
Cole is typical of the heroes in Lisa Renee Jones’ books. He is demanding and bossy and frequently moody. His determination to make Lori the best attorney she can be was a nice addition. I enjoyed how Lori developed from a woman struggling to figure out life to a woman who is showing the world what she can accomplish. I agree with Lori that people will have opinions about her relationship with Cole. I think his attitude shows that he is already at the top of his game and that maybe he forgets how judgmental people can be.
Because I read a lot of books from this author I found myself comparing it to others. This isn’t one of my favorite books written by this author. At the end of the day, I won’t remember this book. I don’t know why but this story just didn’t make a big impression like some of the others.
This is a contemporary boss romance. This book is connected to the events in Dirty Lawyer. I recommend reading them in order. I will read more from this author in the future.
Cinderella runs into her Prince Charming, literally. Both are stunned by the encounter. Their connection is palpable, demanding and white hot. Lisa Renee Jones never fails to impress me. Her characters and storylines are so strong and dynamic. She evokes powerful emotions; stress, anxiety, anger, lust, love, mistrust, betrayal in her characters. There's more than enough intrigue, suspense and mystery that compels you to keep reading in order to find out what happens next.
Lori Havens and Cole Brooks attraction is so erotically charged it practically arcs off the page because of the electricity between them. Thus begins a personal and professional roller coaster ride of emotional highs and lows. They both want and need each other but going all in is terrifyingly real. His need to take care of her and her need not to need him. When he does things to make her life easier and pave the way, she needs to realize he's offering help not a handout. Trusting him finally removes the last wall between them. He owns her just as she owns him. His trust in her abilities is gratifying and she learns from him daily. Her input on several high profile cases is a tipping point into winning. Things gets dicey when they must navigate the murky aftermath of the murder trial that brings out deeply buried memories and feelings in both of.
Lori dreams of going back to law school, but times have been difficult with working three jobs. Her mother's health is better but there's still to pay bills left to pay. Fate steps in and she actually runs into the sexiest man outside her friend Cat's apartment. Wow instant attraction and a night neither one forgets. Cole is in town to seal a deal and a partnership when he encounters a beautiful young woman, a young woman he can't find after she leaves the next morning. Talk about fate there's a new managing owner at the law firm she works at. Yep, its Cole, he can't believe he's found his mystery girl. He's intrigued by her, her strength, her sassiness and her ability within the law firm so when she wins a scholarship she becomes his newest employee-intern. What a captivating story as these two fight their attraction, try not to blur the lines between boss and employee and not to keep their friends in the dark especially about how they first met. A fun story to read!

I wanted to like Cole and Lori, but I couldn't get there. Cole started off great, sexy, confident and smitten with Lori immediately. Then his attitude took a turn to overkill and it did absolutely nothing to make me like him. Lori has some seriously high walls that she erected after her father died and her mother had a stroke that became a bigger character than herself. Nothing about her appealed to me.
I liked Cole and Lori's beginning, a one night stand and the following months until their paths crossed again. After that and some heavily described intimate scenes, I found their relationship to be overplayed and redundant.
Their legal work was interesting and kept me going in the story. The supporting characters, which are in the other books in the series was a bonus. I like Walker Security and Reese, Cat and her brothers. They give the story a break from the up/down, back/forth of Cole and Lori.

Arrogant, hard-headed, and emotionally scarred, Cole runs chest first into smart, brainy, and emotionally scarred Lori. Lust at first sight is a definite in this story, and after a one night stand, Lori thinks she's in the clear. Until Cole shows up as her new boss. I liked the way that Cat and Reese from previous books come back into play as this story is told parallel Dirty Lawyer. The banter between Cole and Lori is top tier, and their spicy scenes are good.
Part two 3⭐️
I liked the second part because of the mystery surrounding Ashley and getting to know more about Cole and Lori's backstories, but wow, there was a lot of going in circles over trust and overprotective tendencies. "Let's go fuck the fight out of our system." Was a quote that stuck out to me which is how Cole and Lori seemed to solve all their issues. It got really repetitive halfway through this part and I ended up skimming all the spicy scenes. You just knew that if someone was angry, irritated, mad, etc. That they were going to end up in a sexual entanglement.
Overall 4 ⭐️
The story was good, spice was repetitive, and banter between Cole and Lori ended up being repetitive, but the side characters and overall plot were what made it okay.

Lori and Cole bump into each other on the street literally and then a second time the same day. They end up giving into the chemistry they have and spend the night together. Lori steps out of her comfort zone for a little while, enjoys her time with Cole but retreats into the safe zone soon. Cole and Lori don’t know they are going to be working together in the near future with him as her boss. While Cole sees no problem being the boss and being with Lori, she doesn’t want people to assume she slept her way into her position. There is a lot of internal struggle and growth with both of these characters as they do have baggage they need to unpack. While they are figuring out how to get to HEA a case puts Lori’s life in jeopardy and opens up a whole new set of obstacles. While we’re on the journey with these two you get a the mystery of their cases and lots of side/supporting characters that add to the story. I am enjoying this series and I can’t wait to read the next one!
Dirty Boss By Lisa Renee Jones Main Characters: Cole and Lori I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 5 out of 5 stars Lori and Cole start out with a one-night stand with no names involved but boy did they hit it off sexually. However, when Cole finds he would love to see more of Lori but she manages to disappear on him. Cole is a defense lawyer practicing in Texas and Lori was almost through law school when she had to leave unexpectedly. As fate would have it, they again meet in another state because of mutual friends. Cole would like to continue with what they had but Lori isn't having any of it with the trust issues she has of men in general. Loved the book and you will too.

DIRTY RICH CINDERELLA STORY #1 This was a story that kept me reading. This is the story of Cole Brooks and Lori Havens. He is the new partner of Reese. After she gets left in a restaurant, Lori did something she never does she had a one night stand and Cole is the man she was with. When Lori gets a new job with the law office she finds she will be working with Cole, he is her new boss. I very much enjoy LRJ’s books. They are always very well written, and the characters have insanely hot chemistry. This is 5 stars.
DIRTY RICH CINDERELLA STORY, EVER AFTER #2 This is after Cole and Lori’s honeymoon. Of course when they get back from Paris things start going awry. I enjoy this couple. Great banter, intrigue, suspense, emotional as well as sensual with on fire chemistry. This is 5 stars.
Lori works several jobs including being Cat's assistant. There is a program that Reese and Cat have started to help others get their law degree. Lori is trying to win it so she can finish her degree. One evening while having drinks Cat has to leave but Lori sticks around and hooks up with a stranger. Lori gets picked as the winner of the program and Reese lets her know that his new business partner will be her boss during her time there. She is stunned when the man she hooked up with turns out to be her new boss. Its not long before things get even more complicated between them. Lori finally has her degree and is together with Cole. Yet one of the cases they won together has some major issues come about. Will they be able to survive what is going on?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. its a book any book lover would enjoy.

The story is about Cole, Reese's business partner and Lori, Cat's assistant on her books. You meet these characters in the prior book. That is one thing I love about the series as characters intertwine from book to book. But again like the last book stories are rushed and incomplete, though in this book the main characters are established more. The main reason for the 3 not 4 is I feel 2 major storylines are not answered leaving me disappointed.
Now about the book. A chance encounter has Cole and Lori meeting for a one night stand. However they meet again as boss and assistant months later. Let the story begin. Between cases, work, family and inner turmoil you have the making of a great storyline. Let's not forget more appearances from Walker Security. If this was a tv series I'd be watching it weekly.. hooked to the very last episode.
Wow what a story it starts with a one night stand for 2 people who want nothing more until they get together. Cole and Lori are meant to be together. It just takes a while to convince Lori that she is all in. They embark on life events that make them pull together. This is such a sexy sensual relationship. I love the way Lisa Renee Jones creates stories within stories that enhance each character to their fullest potential. I love the ways she pulls other characters from other books to create a realistic story and narrative. This is a must read if you like drama and true love; good vs evil. It is all in this story. I would give it more than 5 stars if possible.

"I'm pretty sure that means we've finally fit all the broken pieces of our lives into one perfect heart that we now share" Swoon, sigh and do it all over again. Cole and Lori's story is such a fairy tale, not without a lot of issues and drama and suspense, but a fairy tale none the less. I love how this author pulls me in from page 1 with her writing style and amazing characters then adds a little mystery that gets me reading faster having to know what happens next and if everything will turn out ok for all parties involved. I just want more and more and more of these characters and their stories I love them all and can't wait for the next books.
Dirty Boss is the fifth book in the Scandalous Billionaires series. The book was originally published as a duet, Dirty Rich Cinderella Story, in 2018. This story is about Lori Havens and Cole Brook and it is a wildly dirty naughty read....of the best kind. Lori and Cole are on fire so be ready to have your fingers scorched as you read, and your Kindle smokin'. Both characters were introduced in the previous book, Dirty Lawyer, as Lori is Cat's assistant and Cole is a lawyer who is in the process merging firms with Reese's firm. Lori and Cole are both interesting characters as they navigate their way to a real relationship.
Cole and Lori started out with intentions of only one night but they both couldn't get the other off their minds. This was a wonderfully written, very detailed story of two damaged people learning to trust and love. This well written story led us through the ups and downs of all new relationships and it was done to perfection. It was fast moving and had many interesting twists and turns. Lisa Renee Jones is an auto buy must read for me. This series just keeps me coming back for more. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is Book 5 in the Scandalous Billionaires Series by this author, and can be read as a standalone. It is an off limits romance between law student Lori and her mentor Cole. These likeable characters and the unique plot make for an interesting read. What starts out as a one night stand turns into something more. It is a love story with drama and steam, humor and charm, sexual tension and chemistry, twists and turns, and engaging secondary characters. An emotional ride!

Part one of Dirty Boss gives us the meet cute of Cole and Lori. I appreciate the story, as I was a little lost in part two of dirty lawyer :) There’s definitely instant attraction. They work well together. Definitely a Cinderella story. Part two got a little long for me, the drama was good. I hope we get Ashley story at some point. Lots of steamy times, and a definite need between the two. Full length. Can be standalone but reading Dirty Lawyer may help - actually read Dirty Lawyer part 2 bw part one and 2 of dirty boss.
It was a really captivating story, I loved it so much, the author did such a good job with the writing and everything else, atmosphere, characters ect ! They gave me everything I wanted in a book and all the emotions I was looking for, I couldn't put it down. Lori & Cole are absolutely amazing as a couple and as characters. I'm so glad I get the chance to read it ! 💚🥰
Dirty Boss is a fantastic read. I loved this so much. Lori and Cole are fire. I love their chemistry so much. Cole doesn't back down and goes after what he wants. Lori may have had some challenges but never gave up on her dream. Lori is amazing and promise to be a talented lawyer. Cole is so supportive of Lori as he takes her under his wing. I could not get enough of Lori and Cole. I cannot wait for more in the Scandalous Billionaires series. Go one click this today.
