4.75 stars!

My first read by Malory Ford and I loved it! It was a shorter story but really well done. I wish there was more of it because I loved it. This is part of a series and based off this book I recommend reading the others in the series first. Also had great Christian content. Overall a great story and I definitely recommend!

Content: woman was raped in previous book, they refer back to it but not in detail, and she is pregnant as a result

This is book # 5 of the Hope House Brides series. Definitely recommend reading them in order as they build off each other. This series is a beautiful series to read as these lovely ladies each have an intriguing story of what brings them out west and how their friendship with each other continues from their time at Hope House in New Orleans.

This book focuses on the story of Grace, who arrives in the Mud Lake Community after a life altering event. She begins work as a nurse in the clinic working alongside Dr. Ethan Collins. They face many obstacles and even an illness that spreads through town.

The characters in this book are some of my favorites. They rely on each other and on God to carry them through some tough times and recognize that God promises to be with them through the fire but that doesn’t always mean there aren’t scars.

God is the mender of broken lives.

Grace’s life has taken a life-altering detour and she has landed in Mud Lake with the other Hope House girls. Ethan needs a nurse but wasn’t expecting a wife at the same time. Their marriage of convenience becomes much more as they work together to save the town and start their family.

I enjoy this series. The writing style is easy to read and the story flows well. There is romance but it isn’t the overwhelming part of the story; you get to watch the characters grow and learn to trust God with their lives together. A sweet and tender HEA for them and a little clue for the next book in the series.

I received a complimentary copy and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.

The Doctor’s Wounded Bride

Grace has a sweet story of overcoming adversity. She had been brutally attacked in New Orleans. Starting over with her friends from Hope House who had moved to Mud Lake seemed to be a good idea when her friend mentioned the Doctor was in need of an assistant. She was happiest when she was helping others and her training as an orderly in the hospital had given her experience. Dr Ethan Collins sees that Grace has suffered much but she seems to enjoy helping with the patients. Her kindness and soft spoken bedside manner was welcomed. When Ethan realizes the position Grace is in as a result of the attack, he volunteers to marry her. I recommend you read the book.

This is a very well written and beautiful story of abandonment, a life changing attack, nightmares, heartache, an unexpected pregnancy, fear and romance. There is also a strong thread of faith through out the story. This is Grace and Ethan's story, and the character development is outstanding. Grace becomes a nurse and goes to work with Ethan, who is the town's doctor. As the couple work at a relationship the town suffers an epidemic and the couple must put everything else aside to care for the townspeople. Will there be a HEA in their future; be sure and read this outstanding story to find out. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Dr Ethan and Grace

This is a tale of Dr Ethan Carter and Grace. Grace is from New Orleans and is assaulted and hurt badly both physically and emotionally. She keeps most of this to her self. She has worked as an orderly in the hospital there. She is one of the Hoe House girls. Tessa asked Grace to come to Mud Lake because she knows she needs to get away from New Orleans and that Dr. Carter need a nurse desperately. She accepts the nursing job and she and the doctor decide to marry. You will enjoy discovering how they fall in love and survive a small pox epidemic in the process.

I couldn’t wait to read another Hope House Brides book! Especially one that is an MOC!!

I loved Grace’s sweet and loving nature. She jumped right in when nursing duties were needed. She and Ethan got along well, and complimented each other. They, thankfully, never had to deal with arguments or complications in their relationship, but had to work together to fight other issues.

The story line was filled with faith and trust in God, with both Ethan and Grace putting their trust in Him, and not relying on their own strength.

If you love marriage of convince, western and strong faith elements, this book is for you!

From abandonment to orphanages to the evil inflicted on her by her abusers, Grace wondered if settling in Mud Lake near her friends from the orphanage would rid her of the nightmares haunting her night after night. Meeting and working with the handsome Dr. Collins as his nurse gave her purpose but the scars of her past still tormented her. Could the God she served heal and redeem her? Would she ever have that happily ever after? A redemptive story to warm and inspire the heart of each reader!

I enjoyed the book! Grace lived in New Orleans where she was attacked. She left and came west to be with some of the other former Hope House residents. Grace became a nurse for the town doctor (Ethan). When Grace realized she was pregnant due to the attack, Ethan married her. Their marriage was a marriage of convenience. As they worked together, they became close and then an epidemic hit the town! I highly recommend reading this book!

This was a precious story. No matter how broken, wounded, hurting a person can be God can bring healing and beauty into a person’s life. This was a very sweet story of trauma, hurt, painful pasts, bitterness, all made better by the forgiveness the Lord gives us. It is exemplifies Christ in me, the hope of glory. What God can do in a life surrendered to Him. This was a beautiful story of love, forgiveness and the work of the Lord in their lives.

Wounds can heal

The town doctor needs a new assistant. His Aunt helps but hasn't much empathy for others. So other towns folk help him find a new nurse. Only she has fresh wounds that will need to be gently cared for to face the future. They find courage together to help heal her wounds, also giving him what he really wants. He wants a family and she needs understanding love.

My favorite of the series!

Grace and Ethan’s story is my favorite so far. No conflict. No arguments or tension. Just lovingkindness and tender care. Ethan was pretty much the perfect man and he treated Grace with such love 💘

Good story worth the read

A good Christian story of a doctor and nurse who have a marriage of convenience amid smallpox epidemic, unexpected pregnancy due to assault and nasty relatives.

So sweet and full of hope.

I was a little nervous about this one because there are a couple of triggers for me in this book. But Ford did so well at handling sensitive topics in such hope-giving ways. It also didn't feel too heavy (which I was afraid of) and I wasn't forced to read the trauma-inducing situations of the characters.

As usual, the men in this book were all gentlemen and our hero Ethan was so kind, so patient, but not without his own weaknesses. Likewise, the women were mature and had such lovely friendships with each other. We are given beautiful examples of healthy community and how the characters support each other even when situations are stressful or not ideal.

I really appreciated that our heroine Grace was a victim and had to overcome so much emotional and physical trauma, but she made bold choices to not remain a victim. Her story is one of truly finding redemption in such a sad circumstance.

I'd also like to mention that there is a local disease outbreak and that is usually an automatic DNF for me, but I trust Ford and her hopeful stories and I was not disappointed. Not only was there a happy ending, there was a relationship that was reconciled through the stress of the epidemic and I was very pleased with how it all turned out.

Another great Hope House installment!!
