The only reason this doesn’t have 5 stars is because I have not been able to put them to practice.
I started with her book “Plan your year like a millionaire” and it lead me to this audible.
This one has changed me, I physically feel different after listening to this book.
Whether you want to have a million dollar side hustle or not (you probably do if you’re reading this) there are huge reflection points in this book that can be applied to anyone.
Find what’s important to you and do it.
After listening here is the take away:
1. Hustle (free up time)
- reclaim your time, try to get 20hours a week
- Have a $10k goal
- get the family/ people involved, be specific on what they can do to help
- This is the time when you need extra support
- Don’t have a “broke ass story”, write a “million dollar story”
- Get rid of anything that can cause doubt until there can be nothing left but a positive outlook
2. Choose your hustle
- do a strength assessment (Clifton strand, disc, the Ineogram)
- Start a business related to a strength and develop a million dollar offer
- Your business needs to provide a kind of improvement, aka a result and must be in demand
- Must be scaleable, can eventually multiply and expand beyond you
3. Focus your hustle
- who is your ideal client
4. Price your hustle
- lets normalize being expensive, be the premium option
- Charge based in the value that you provide
- Charged based on the highest result
- Best way to booster confidence is to get evidence (get reviews and stack them)
- You attract the energy that you put out
- Provide excellence and charge accordingly
5. Announce your hustle
- how to get the first time clients
- Get your first 10 clients
- Invite 100 people to follow, watch, attend and if 10% sign up then that’s your first 10 people
6. Market your hustle
- Calm, composer, and confidence
- You want a pain killer not a vitamin, “you know it’s the right decision”
- Show you care/ create the connection
- Say less to sell more
- There are funds in the follow ups
- Empathize your results not your process
- create a automate marketing system
7. Manage your hustle
- Establish a schedule
- Create your environment
- Have weekly appointments to celebrate your victories
- As you start to grow revenue, out source what you suck at
- Notice the value of your time
8. Legitimize your hustle
- Make a hire
- Choose a payment system
- Choose a business structure
- Get your employer identify action number or federal tax id number
- Get a business bank account and card
- Register your business with the state or city
- Get insurance
- Sort out your legal docs.
- Protect your intellectual property
- Hire the pros
9. Take care of yourself
- Do one thing everyday that makes you feel rich (bring you energy, power, peace, and joy)
- Delegate one task on your to-do list to someone else
- Raise your standards
10. Expand beyond your hustle
- Maintain your hustle
- Grow your hustle
- Decide when to sell or when do go all in
- Invest and acquire assets

Before you give up, you should actually try.

O and you can download a checklist for free, yes that’s right. Get the book today.

Six-Figure Side Hustle by Rachel Rodgers is a powerful and inspiring guide aimed primarily at women who want to turn their side hustle into a thriving six-figure business. Written in a relatable and empowering tone, Rodgers provides actionable strategies for building wealth, balancing life, and scaling without burnout. While the book is targeted at women, the principles and insights shared are universal, making it valuable for anyone looking to take their hustle to the next level. It’s like getting advice from a savvy mentor who knows how to motivate and equip you for success, no matter where you’re starting from.

I love Rachel Rodgers. Always have. And this book has a number of helpful ideas to align your brain with entrepreneurship.

However, so much time is spent on assumptions of community and delegation that really aren’t feasible or accessible for a lot of people.

And I didn’t hear her mention- as she has in personal posts - about her sister investing in her business. Not all of us have a relative willing to bankroll us. It makes an enormous difference.

I am thrilled for this author’s brilliant idea(s) that found her subsequent luck and success—but the “I did it and so can you!” advice is not guaranteed to work. Though she’s figured out a recipe, I worry it is all so dependent on varying factors and a lot a bit of luck. Nevertheless, anyone venturing into a side hustle could benefit from her insights. If only I had a good idea to get me there.

While I’m happy for the author, her advice practically boils down to “start a business and you’ll make a ton of money” her vantage point, as a lawyer with a specific skill set positioned her for a six figure success.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very motivational and well written book, but lacks substance. How do startups deal with competition? How do I handle a skills gap?

I get who this is for - the person (probably black woman) who Rachel is trying to motivate to live their dream life.

Though she gives some good advice and tells the story of her rise from nothing to multi-millionaire, the problem I have with many of these books is all the stuff that is taken for granted.

Entrepreneurs like Rachel talk as if everybody should become an entrepreneur - they shouldn’t.

She talks as if scaling a business and finding product-market fit is easy, it’s not. At all.

She talks as if she assumes that everybody is like her. They aren’t.

If 100 people followed her advice, maybe 1 of them will have a viable business but none will reach Rachel’s level.

Entertaining. But Im missing the real value.

For years i've been telling myself to start a side hustle. Tried other books and guides but could never really figure out what i could do and how to start. This book really lit a fire under me and got me thinking. Now i'm actually starting to plan.

This book is exactly what i needed to think about my skills and what i could bring to the table and has given me a guide as to where to start. Thankyou.

A great masterclass on getting started as an entrepreneur. I valued her first 7 principles and found the mindset work really helpful. The last 3 were less useful as I already have an LLC. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to start a business. Her delivery is a little flat but the content is good. Think of this as a “class” and not an entertainment listen and you will appreciate it more.

Excellent audio book. This is for you if you know you are talented and wanted straight talk. She breaks down the steps and provides real life stories to back everything she says. Love all of her material.

🎨 Impressions

“What is stopping you from making more money and what are you going to do about that?”

I think this was really a powerful and motivating book I’ve read so far. The author was very insightful and compassionate (unlike the Millionaire Fastlane’s author whose book I was reading in tandem with this one). And even though the audiobook was very brief, I still learned a lot from this. The author really made me belief that I can do it, and I really like the fact that the author kind of marketted it especially to marginalized people. This is the type of audio that I will re-read over and over again as a reminder of what I can achieve.

On the content of the audiobook, much of the core values that the author gave here is actually quite similar with what I read in Millionaire Fastlane book. For example, the mentality, the concepts (either sell to many for lower price, or sell to few with high price), etc. But this book also offers some new insights that are novel (for me), especially the pricing part.

Although I liked the actionable steps she provides in starting a “side hustle”, the book read more to me like an inspirational story of how she became a millionaire. I’m thinking of maybe going back and rereading at a later date just so I can see it through fresh eyes. I can see how this book may not be for some people because she does make a few assumptions that definitely don’t apply to everyone seeking to become entrepreneurs….

more advice > how-to

The advice is good. The process: do this than this, is good.

But you must take the advice, which points you in the right direction, and do your own due diligence.

Maybe PRICING how to that provides formulas could become useless as things change. Yet, the advice that says price base on value and not on your time or materials seems timeless.

Incredible read I like the authors ideas and strategies.

My main takeaway is to do something rich for yourself daily. It is a way to stimulate abundance. There is much more gems inside this book but that one in particular stuck with me on this read. I will definitely reread this book. Also recommended is her plan your year like a millionaire and Millionaire habits.

No new ideas, lots of assumptions about available resources (“don’t have the time to start? Just spend money you don’t have on door dash and house cleaners!” Does not work for someone already working 2 jobs with nothing left at the end of the month), and not than a smidgen of racism. But it’s against white people so it’s ok.

While I’m not necessarily thinking about 6 figure owning my own business if you have any desire to work on the side or have the mindset of an entrepreneur this was a good listen! Written by a woman to encourage under represented demographics and gives real world examples and testimonials.

While her confidence may be inspiring to some it didn't sit well with me but I did gain some good insights regarding trail & error and pushing past the fears that naturally come with being an entrepreneur.

4/5 ⭐️

This book was helpful. It felt like a more concise version of We Should All Be Millionaires. However, this book focused on building a six-figure side hustle and overcoming common barriers to achieve it. I'm excited to work through the accompanying resources to help plan my new year.
