Waking up hungover in the sheep pen is the least of my problems. The worst? A foreclosure notice for my family farm. Scratch that. The actual worst is the woman delivering the news: my ex, who broke my heart and left me behind for the big city. I’ve spent a decade trying to forget Lia Thorne, and now she’s the only one who can help my family dig ourselves out from our crushing debt and even stronger egos. I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty. And if I go along with Lia’s new-fangled scheme, maybe I can win back more than my finances … Just as long as my meddling grandma and her spoiled sheep don’t interfere. Since You’ve Bean Gone kicks off the Farm 2 Forking crop of laugh out loud romantic comedies set on Bedd Fellows Farm. Dig into this swoony, unputdownable second-chance romance by USA Today bestselling author Lainey Davis and buckle up for an un-baa-lievable ride.
This is only my third experience with Lainey Davis so I’m not sure if it’s always like this, but she does not shy away from #RealLife circumstances and I like it! Not only does she not shy away from making it part of the storyline, but she also doesn’t just throw it in for effect. She digs deep into the circumstance and really folds into the story so the reader can vividly “live” the story. That’s the best way I know to describe her style. Our FMC, Lia, has Crohn’s disease which is the catalyst for her and the MMC, Ethan, to have been separated since after high school when she basically ghosted him, because reasons. Without giving details on the “story” I’ll tell you that I am now very well informed on the disease but also not just informed like I would be from reading its Wikipedia page, but informed because I was drawn to the story and felt like I was “in it” and “living it” right alongside Lia.
I found this story to be emotional, heartfelt, and also very humorous! It’s an endearing second chance to get it right romance, with quirky characters and a smalltown setting that you will fall in love with immediately. I love that Lia & Ethan “aired out” the reason why Lia left like she did within the first third of the book because it gave them time to grow into friends again and then more without it seeming rushed at any point.
I’m very intrigued to see how all the stories in this series will flow from one to the other and how the siblings will all come together for each other and themselves as they navigate to their own HEA! I’ve read quite a few of these types of series and I’m always amazed at how different authors, each with their own style and voice, can come together and write a series that connects and is really cohesive. I had the absolute best time 🎧listening🎧 to this story because of course, Erin Mallon is one of my all-time faves and she is a superstar but also because Alastair Haynesbridge brought his a-game and they were fantastic together! A++ for narration!!!
“Since You’ve Bean Gone” is book one in the multi-author Farm 2 Forking series about the Bedd Family and I am hooked. I really enjoyed this story; it was funny and heartfelt.
Ethan is the oldest Bedd sibling and is now fully in charge of the family soybean farm after the death of his grandfather. Unfortunately, the farm has been in dire financial straits for some time.
Lia Thorne is the financial advisor assigned to work with the Bedds to avoid foreclosure. She is also Ethan's high school sweetheart who broke his heart when she left to go to college. Lia had her reasons but never told Ethan.
Ethan & Lia still have feelings for each other and I liked how they were able to come back together without too much drama. Lia is dealing with some personal issues that I don't want to spoil, but Ethan is there for her in so many ways. His family is as well and I hope to see more resolution with his siblings as the series progresses.
*Gran and Baabara Streisand-Bedd are shining stars!
I cannot wait to read more about this family. I am fully invested in the future of the Bedd Fellows Farm.
Highly recommend if you like small town rom-coms with well placed puns!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book.
This was such a cute second chance romance. I always love a farm setting, in a small town, and a big family with interesting dynamics. And bonus points for taking place in upstate NY! Ethan is the oldest sibling and is left in charge of the family’s soybean farm after his grandfather passes away. The farm is in dire need of financial help, and the advisor sent to work with them is none other than Lia, Ethan’s high school sweetheart. She broke his heart when she left without any explanation. But she had her reasons, the most important being her health. I loved how protective, caring, and understanding Ethan was regarding Lia and what she was dealing with. There is a lot of humor interlaced with serious issues, which I always enjoy. Two standout characters are Gran and Baabara the sheep. I have sheep and can totally relate to her antics!
The audiobook is narrated by Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge and I thought they both did amazing jobs portraying the characters and conveying the emotions of the story. I definitely recommend listening!

Thank you Home Cooked Book Promos and Lainey Davis for the ALC!
In the first Farm 2 Forking book, Davis does a good job of establishing the setting of Fork Lick; and while some of the Bedd siblings were introduced more effectively than others, there are enough glimpses to bait the hook for the reader, and it will be interesting to see their stories play out over the course of the series.
Davis’ entry with the story of Ethan and Lia is just a really sweet second chance romance. The characters have a clear affection as well as attraction for each other that I found really appealing. There’s also some great rep for invisible, chronic illness in this story, with a nuanced portrayal of the trials and tribulations that go along with such a diagnosis, and how living with such illnesses is often misunderstood. At its heart, I felt that this is a story about the beauty of finally being seen - in all facets of one’s existence - by the right partner. Ethan is so great because even when he doesn’t understand Lia’s condition he cares enough to learn and doesn’t presume to think he knows better than her- and that is so gratifying. And it’s a great strength of this book that these are two people who really come to know one another again in a genuine way, and though their history plays a part, it doesn’t get in the way of them coming to know each other in the now. The second chance trope is just really well-executed.
The only issue I had with this book was the romcom label. The only comedy didn’t really arise from the romance. In fact aside from some goat related shenanigans, there really wasn’t much comedy to be had. Instead, this was much more an exploration of the relationship between these the MCs and the gentle re-ignition of their love story. So, it’s not that it wasn’t funny, just that the funny wasn’t related to the relationship so I feel like it doesn’t really fit the romcom mold. However, though I think calling it a romcom mislabels it, this is still a very satisfying story, with a well-drawn setting and great MCs.
This is a definite recommendation and I am looking forward to the rest of the series and seeing each Bedd sibling meet their match.
I received an ARC copy of this book via the author. All opinions are my own.
Audiobook Addendum - November 2024
Narration: 5 ⭐️s
After returning to SYBG in audio form several months after reading this second-chance romance, I found that the audio augmented my overall experience with the story. Erin Mallon and Alistair Hayesbridge are well-cast, adding further appeal and layers to Ethan and Lia. And while I still don’t feel strong rom-com vibes from the first in the F2F series, it’s still very good and I appreciate the characters and the work Davis put into crafting them. I love Ethan and Lia’s interactions and how he still shines as a partner. And I think that Haynesbridge’s performance, especially added to that. Erin Mallon brings her usual A-game to Lia - her delivery made me feel Lia’s emotions even more this time around. And obviously Baabra is the GOAT even if she’s a sheep. Definitely worth a listen!
I’m grateful to have received an ALC copy of the audiobook via Home Cooked Books. All opinions expressed are my own.
4.5⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ Book one is this shared world was a delight! From Ethan and Lia all the way down to Baarbra sheep! Seriously she kinda tries to steal the show. This is Ethan and Lia's second chance but what went wrong the first time? Well that's just it Ethan really has no clue. Lia on the other hand had so many reasons yet to Ethan he just still wants to know one good reason. The characters really shine as they unravel the years between them and begin to show each other the people they've become. I have voluntarily left this review.
What I’m Starry-Eyed Over: 🤩 Updating for audiobook: Erin Mallon & Alastair Haynesbridge have scrumptious voices, enhance all the feels, and make this story even more sweet, loving, and enjoyable. I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of the series in their narration. 🤩 This whole amazing collaboration between authors to make the Farm 2 Forking series—Bedd Fellows Farm and Fork Lick, New York. The next books will be written by Liz Alden, Karen Grey, Erin Mallon, and Ember Leigh. 🤩 The book reminded me why I prefer first person dual POV. I love knowing both characters deeply, feeling the inner turmoil, deep thoughts, and growth. 🤩 An emotional support sheep named Baabara Streisand. And, some super fun town names. 🤩 Angsty second chance romance—oh my heart. 🤩 The captivating plot is the reason Lia Thorne is back in town. And that need to know how and why she left town in the first place. 🤩 Secret pining, forced proximity, and naughty thoughts. 🤩 Amazing Crohn’s Disease representation—so much heart while keeping the romcom humor (the dung diary). 🤩 Farm life is interesting and funny. 🤩 Cabin life—Ethan Bedd is total book boyfriend material—caring, loving, supportive, and so stinkin’ hot. 🤩 Sibling fun and forgiveness. 🤩 Gran—she’s amazing and funny and so, so sweet.
What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About: 💫 A little love triangle situation. I like it this way, where the one character (non-MMC) is not a very good person. But I wish the love triangle could have been gone a bit sooner. 💫 The slow burn was beautiful, but I did wish for a little more time with them as a true couple. Update: The bonus scene helped me feel more like I got enough of them together as a couple. 💫 Molly and Alex—I’m so looking forward to their story and the rest of the series.
What a great kickoff to this series! So many wonderful characters, animals and antics in this fun small town. The surrounding town names are hilarious and will make you giggle.
Lia has returned to town to take care of some business…but not everyone is happy about it. She is strong and determined to get the job done but she has a few bumps along the way…including her heart.
Ethan is a fantastic and caring man who is a hard working, protector and a wonderful human. He’s facing a crisis and needs to lean on others…one of them being the most unexpected person.
Lia and Ethan are a wonderful couple who give us great banter, tension and overall dialogue. I love when they finally get to the point where they can laugh again…love those scenes. The family members add great humor and love.
I really enjoyed how they all came together to meet their goals. So looking forward to the other books in this series.
Thank you home cooked books for the arc and alc.
Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge delivered a phenomenal performance!! Erin has an amazing voice and she has become one of my favorite narrators. Bags gives the characters perfect emotion, personality and voice. Alastair is a new to me narrator and his voice is so delightful! He also gave perfect emotion, personality and voice to the characters…and the way he says Baaabara!!!
The entire series is amazing. A fantastic listen!!!
Since You’ve Bean Gone Farm 2 Forking Series By: Lainey Davis Narrated by: Alastair Haynesbridge, Erin Mallon
“Since You’ve Bean Gone” is the first book of the “Farm 2 Forking” series, a multi-author series set in the same world, the Bedd Fellows Farm in New York’s Catskills, and features a different member of the Bedd family. Lainey Davis starts off with Ethan Bedd, the oldest sibling and the one who took over the family farm after his grandfather’s passing. Unbeknownst to him and his siblings, the farm was having financial problems, something their grandfather did not share with their grandmother or that he refinanced the farm. The bank assigns a financial advisor to work with the family to avoid a foreclosure, and that advisor turns out to be his ex, the love of his life and the one who broke his heart, Lia Thorne. Lia had her reasons for breaking off things with Ethan those years ago, ones she never shared, but she is solid in her life now and is doing well in her career and her love life. Ethan and Lia still have unresolved feelings for each other, but she is involved with someone and is only in Fork Lick for a short time. Lia was in her element on the farm, coming up with ideas to generate funds, and she and Ethan made a great team. I thought these two were great together and for each other, and he was absolutely amazing with her when her health issues flared up, caring and understanding, and it makes her think of what she was missing in her current relationship. This wonderfully written and plotted story has plenty of drama, a touch of humor via witty dialogue and shenanigans to lighten things up, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. Lainey Davis, thank you for another fabulous story, the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Alastair Haynesbridge and Erin Mallon did a fabulous job voicing the characters, and I loved how they took each role and owned it, sounding believable and just as I imagined they would sound. Mallon nailed it as Lia, grasping every aspect of her personality, from her vulnerabilities to her strength and determination. Haynesbridge was a natural in Ethan’s role, showcasing his personality perfectly, from his grumpy side to his caring side. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for another wonderful listen.
This is my first Lainey Davis book and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The story went from funny to serious as Lainey has highlighted an illness that one of her characters has,and we get to see through the characters eyes how hard and diabilitating it can be living with an invisible illness. This story takes place in the small town of Fork Lick. Ethan's grandfather dies and he inherits Bedd fellows farm to manage but his grandfather has left the farm in ALOT of debt and they need to find ways to make money to get out of debt...They decide to grow and sell strawberries. Lia is the financial advisor for the farm..she used to live in Fork Lick and dated Ethan they were high school sweethearts, and were very much in love. But Lia left town and ghosted Ethan breaking his heart...She didn't mean to hurt him but Lia was dealing with an unexpected illness that needed her to be in the city so she could see the doctors there and recieve her medication. Lia has Crohn's disease..I really connected with Lia and understood her pain and how her life had to be modified because of her illness..I don't have crohn's but I do have a digestive disorder that causes all sorts of digestive and bowel problems..So I got how embarrassing and helpless you feel sometimes and a burden to your family. Being back in town and seeing Lia on the farm helping out with advice etc...The attraction between them is still there and it is easy between them. But the past has to be acknowledged and Ethan wants answers to why she left ...When Ethan finds out he is really protective and caring about her situation...and I swooned at his considerate, attentive and kind side. You can see this is a second chance romance but there is a problem as Lia has a boyfriend in the city a doctor and a selfish assh*le. I wish I could find someone like Ethan who was such a great care giver and understanding to Lia's needs. The Narration to this Audiobook is Excellent Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge are just so Amazing at telling the story and portraying these characters. Their comedy timing is perfect and they deliver the emotional lines just as ideally and I loved listening to them. Since You've Bean Gone is a lovely romance funny, sweet, and a bit steamy it was such a pleasure to listen to...Now I want to listen to ALL the other books in this series. LOved it. 5 Stars
I loved the idea of a series of small town romantic comedy stories set in the same world and each story created by a different talented author! The first book starts off with my favorite second chance romance trope, so I was very excited to begin and I was not disappoint. Ethan Bedd is the oldest in the family and he is now in charge of the family soybean farm after his grandfather's passing. He learns that the farm is about to enter foreclosure after his grandfather took out risky loans without telling anyone. Lia Thorne is the financial advisor who is assigned to help him turn things around. Unfortunately she is the one woman who owns his heart and has never gotten over, after she left town years ago without looking back. Lia has her own secret she is embarrassed to disclose. But when her hard work on the farm causes issues, she is forced to tell Ethan. Ethan will do anything to help Lia, and it only brings them closer. As they make creative changes to the farm, Lia begins to feel at home again, and her feelings for Ethan resurface stronger. But when her assignment draws to a close, will she walk away again, breaking both their hearts for good? I love Ethan and Lia together! Their relationship starts off a bit rocky, but I loved how they slowly begin to reconcile their flawed history. They also have difficult but loving relationships with their quirky family and friends (insert their awesome Gran and Baabara Streisand-Bedd here) who cause more hilarity, complications, and drama that had me laughing out loud, swooning, and cheering for Ethan and Lia's HEA. I also loved how Davis introduced a sensitive topic with honesty and empathy. This slow burn, rom-com is filled with witty banter, awkward and hilarious situations, and a sweet and sexy storyline with lots of heart. Alastair Haynesbridge and Erin Mallon did a great job bringing this story to life. I love both their voices, along with their flawless comedic timing and dynamic voice changes as they delivered the authors fast paced, clever banter. They made this hilarious, heartfelt, and steamy story even better.
Since You’ve Bean Gone is a captivating entry into the Farm 2 Forking series, setting the stage with its rich tapestry of familial responsibility and rekindled romance. Lainey Davis deftly introduces readers to the world of Bedd Fellows Farm, where Ethan Bedd grapples with the unexpected financial woes left by his grandfather. The arrival of Lia Thorne, Ethan's ex and a financial advisor assigned to save the farm, adds an intriguing layer of tension and unresolved emotions. As Ethan and Lia navigate their past and present, the story explores themes of love, responsibility, and personal growth. Lia's innovative ideas and Ethan's unwavering support during her health challenges highlight the strength of their partnership, despite her current involvement with another. The novel weaves drama with humour and steamy romance, creating a compelling narrative that keeps readers engaged and rooting for a second chance at love amidst the challenges of farm life. Alastair Haynesbridge and Erin Mallon truly excelled in bringing this story to life with their outstanding vocal performances. Their ability to infuse the narrative with impeccable comedic timing and dynamic voice changes added an extra layer of enjoyment to an already engaging story. Mallon's portrayal of Lia was spot-on, capturing her vulnerabilities and strength with precision, while Haynesbridge embodied Ethan's multifaceted personality with ease. Both narrators skilfully oversaw the secondary characters, ensuring each one felt authentic and distinct. Their storytelling prowess not only enhanced the humour and heart of the tale but also made the emotional moments resonate deeply. As seasoned professionals, Haynesbridge and Mallon proved to be a delightful duo, transforming the listening experience into a truly memorable one.
Since You've Bean Gone: A Heartfelt Second Chance Romance
Lainey Davis kicks off her Farm 2 Forking series with a charming audiobook that perfectly balances humor and heart. Narrated by the talented duo of Alastair Haynesbridge and Erin Mallon, this romantic comedy set on Bedd Fellows Farm delivers both laughs and emotional depth.
The narrators' performances are particularly noteworthy, with their dynamic interaction and complementary styles bringing the story to vivid life. Their versatility shines through as they navigate both the story's lighter moments and its more poignant scenes with equal skill.
The plot centers on a second chance romance that's both emotional, heartfelt, and genuinely humorous. What sets this audiobook apart is Davis's knack for creating authentic characters facing real-world challenges. The story is liberally sprinkled with puns and outlandish predicaments, yet never loses sight of its emotional core.
Set in upstate New York's Bedd Fellows Farm, the narrative unfolds with warmth and wit. The rural setting serves as more than just a backdrop, becoming an integral part of the story's charm. The audiobook excels at creating a cozy atmosphere while tackling meaningful themes about love, second chances, and personal growth.
While some listeners might find the abundance of farming puns a bit much, they generally add to the story's charm rather than detract from it. The pacing is well-maintained throughout, and the dual narration helps keep the listener engaged from start to finish.
For fans of romantic comedy audiobooks, "Since You've Bean Gone" offers a swoony, unputdownable experience that sets a promising tone for the rest of the Farm 2 Forking series. It's a delightful blend of humor, heart, and small-town charm that will leave listeners eager for the next installment.
This was okay for me. The writing itself wasn't bad, although it did take a little bit for me to get into the story. There is a lot of back story mentioned, but never really gotten into. The reader is told that Ethan and his siblings were raised by their grandparents after their parents died, and that the relationships between Ethan and his siblings are strained, but that's it. It's just mentioned, there's not really any actual information given. This story kind of ends on a cliffhanger, not with Ethan and Lia's story, but with the fate of the farm, so I'm guessing there will be more info in the siblings stories. It kind of sucks that I didn't get at least Ethan and Lia's perspective on things. On the subject of Lia, I thought Ethan deserved better. I get that Lia was young and just realized she had major health issues, but she made the decision for both of them that their relationship was over. She never even told Ethan what was going on, or that she was ill. Then she comes back and has a boyfriend, and proceeds to cheat on him with Ethan. Granted, Richard was exactly what his name implies, but that doesn't excuse cheating. Ever. Even after Ethan has turned his life upside to care for Lia, she still tells him he doesn't know anything, and she's going to consult her bf/dr who does. It's not until Richard shows her AGAIN what kind of man he is that she wants Ethan. Ethan instantly forgave her, but I couldn't enjoy their relationship after that. I would have definitely enjoyed this story more if the relationship between Lia and Richard wasn't in there. This was a first for me from this author, and although it wasn't a 5 star read, I would be willing to read her again.
Book 1 in the Farm 2 Forking series, with each title focusing on one of the Beds Family siblings.
• Romance • Second Chance • Small Town • Farm • Chronic Illness • Meddling Grandma
This fun, laugh out loud read was a delight! From the perfect narrators and great story line to witty banter and great family dynamic (not everyone is perfect or gets along, however they care about each other in the way a farm family can!) this was such a wonderful story. I'm thrilled it is just the first in a series of books!
Lia and Ethan were high school sweethearts. When Lia went to college, she suddenly cut Ethan and his family off without reason. Now, 10 years later, she is back in town to help save the Bedd family farm, which Ethan is now at the helm.
Lia's chronic illness and Ethan's desire to help and support her pull at my heartstrings. While there are some heavy topics (death of an elderly family member, illness, uncaring boyfriend, business debt, etc), they are handled well with a positive outlook.
My only struggle is there wasn't much closure with boyfriend - and of course, I wanted Lia and Ethan together, and wanted her to kick the 3rd wheel big town boy friend to the curb, he seemed to have something going on that I would have loved more on. (maybe that is the mystery/thriller reader in me. LOL).
Alastair Haynesbridge and Erin Mallon are phenomenal narrators and their work in this book was no different.
I received a copy of the audio from Home Cooked Books and listened to it through BookFunnel. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
Since You’ve Bean Gone is the first in a 5 part series about a dysfunctional family that finds out after their grandfathers passing that they may lose their family farm. I enjoyed the dynamics between the 4 brothers and one sister, usually with big family books you find that everyone gets along and is willing to do whatever to make things work. Not so with this family, no one really seems to get along with anyone, and for me I loved that extra storyline along with the romance.
So in this book we’ve got a second chance romance between Ethan and Lia, who were high school sweethearts. So cute. Lia moved away to go to collage and in the process broke Ethan’s heart. However now she’s back as the financial planner to help save the farm. There’s obviously still old feeling left unsettled between these two so what happens now that they’re back in each others lives?
These two were just so sweet together. I loved the chronic illness representation and how Davis helped those of us understand the trials and effects that having Crohn’s disease can cause. She certainly didn’t shy away from the ugly side of it. Then we have Ethan, who even though he comes off as a stubborn jerk at times really is a total sweetheart, he just needed to be nudged that way. I also have to give to props to manna and Barrr-brah Streisand because these two added such great comic relief through the book.
Narrated by Erin Mallon, who has quickly become one of my favourite female narrators as she always does an amazing job. I’m new to Alastair Haynesbridge who did a fantastic job as well. I’ll be adding him to my list of top narrators.
What a fun new multi-author series, by my fave authors!
I have loved every Lainey Davis book I’ve ever picked up, but this one is extra-special - it’s the first in a new, multi-author series by my faves! The Farm 2 Forking series has my top favorites plus a couple new ones I’ve been meaning to read forever.
Book 1, Since You’ve Bean Gone, focuses on one of the Bedd siblings, Ethan, as they trying to figure out finances after their grandfather passed. His ex is the one from the financial company that grandad took all the loans out from, and so Lia is back in her small town for the first time since she disappeared on her high school sweetheart, breaking his heart.
Lia is trying to help the family, who treated her like one of them when she was a teen, save the soybean farm from foreclosure. She left for the big city and medical intervention once she graduated, and never looked back. She finally got a diagnosis of Crohn’s Disease, and even with her new doctor boyfriend treating her, the flare-ups are awful and she can’t go far from a bathroom.
As Lia and Ethan are forced to work closely together to figure out ways to get the farm solvent again, they find their way back to a friendship - and something a bit more. There’s also a very cute sheep, Baabara Streisand.
I really enjoyed this close proximity, second chance high school sweethearts romance while they had to save the farm, and work through Crohn’s flare-ups. Having real life experiences like this make books more realistic and enjoyable. Thank you Lainey and Home Cooked Books PR for the advance copy - I definitely recommend this to all! Lainey Davis is a great author!
Looking forward to book 2 by Liz Alden (one of the new authors I’ve been meaning to read forever)!
A new series with four different authors set in the same world and this was a fun start. “Since You’ve Bean Gone” is a sweet, heartfelt and fun start to this new series.
To say Ethan Bedd is surprised to find a foreclosure on his family’s farm is understatement. And he’s even more shocked the woman handling the foreclosure is his ex, the one who got away all those years ago. Lia is back home temporarily to help her employer with the foreclosure but old feelings surface and she wants to help Ethan and his family save his farm. As the two spend time together, the feelings they still have for each other start to resurface.
This was a fun and flirty rom-com and I enjoyed reading it. I really felt for Ethan who was blindsided by the debt that the family farm owed. His grandfather tried his hardest but definitely let that part slip up for sure. But Ethan is strong, determined, smart and willing to do anything to save the farm. Lia is incredibly kind, caring, smart and I loved how she didn’t want to be the bad guy. She was looking for something, anything to help save the farm. Ethan and Lia had a deep connection and that was apparent throughout the story. Lia had her reasons for leaving like she did and I can understand why she did. I’m glad she came back and confessed to Ethan about everything that had happened to her in the last years. I loved the Crohn's disease representation in the story and how it affected Lia and even people in her life. Their ending was so sweet and I’m looking forward to more from the town of Fork Lick.
This series was so much fun to listen to as I found myself laughing out loud on numerous occasions. We start off with quite a doozy in this second chance romance for Ethan & Lia. Ethan & Lia we’re high school sweethearts with great plans to run his family farm. Until out of the blue, he found himself all alone with her leaving town. Fast forward several years later, and Ethan finds himself along with the rest of the Bedd siblings & the family farm, Bedd Fellows Farm in financial trouble after his grandfather‘s death. In an effort to prove her worth at her company in the big city, Lia finds herself back in her small home town of Fork Lick. But what she wasn’t counting on was coming face-to-face with her first true love and discovering all over again, what made her fall in love with him in the first place. I loved watching Lia tam the ever grumpy Ethan, after years of being apart. I loved seeing their friendship grow as their love slowly blossoms again. I also loved how Lia wasn’t perfect, with her medical issues, yet Ethan showed her that she was perfect in his eyes. Seeing Ethan grow & learn a whole new aspect of the farm just shows what you can achieve when the right person comes along. I can’t end a review without mentioning the hilarity of grandma with her beloved, spoiled, and pampered sheep, Baaaarbra Streisand.
Audiobook Review: Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge brought this entire town to life. Erin always delivers a stellar performance & Alistair was right there with her matching her energy & bringing emotion to the characters.
Lainey Davis kicks off the Farm 2 Forking collaborative series about the Bedd Family with Since you’ve been gone. A second chance romance about Ethan Bedd the oldest Bedd sibling and head of the family Farm, and Lia Thorne a financial advisor who had some personal struggles of her own. The pair were high school sweethearts but Lia broke things off when she went off to college and though she had her reasons Ethan never really knew why.
This was such a great story I really enjoyed it from start to finish. Lainey Davis did a fantastic job laying the foundation for the series while still putting the focus on the MCs and their beautiful second chance together. I enjoyed their undeniable chemistry and bond. They were genuine and really perfectly matched. And not to give anything away but I loved the mutual respect, support and understanding shown as the story unfolds.
I listened to the audio version of this book that was narrated by Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge. They were perfectly cast for these characters. I’ve always been amazed at how flawlessly Erin transitions between characters and the many different emotions they display throughout a story. She is just so talented. And Alastair was phenomenal as well and I look forward to hearing more of him in future books.
This is a romcom with so much heart. Definitely worth grabbing if you enjoy fantastic storytelling and and wonderful characters.
I enjoyed this series in AUDIO. Narrators Alastair Haynesbridge and Erin Mallon (author and narrator) did great jobs. Authors include Lainey Davis, Liz Alden, Karen Grey, Erin Mallon, and Ember Leigh. A copy of this review will be added for each author.
This is a RomCom series and appreciated as such. I liked the many characters in the family and community. I had no trouble keeping up with who was who. The setting was the fictional town of Fork Lick, New York. Lots of jokes about that name and the nearby town of Climax ensued. Baabara the comical, and trouble-making Merino sheep is a personified character throughout the series.
The authors did a good job with continuity of setting and characters thru the books. The books aren't long, but long enough to enjoy the development of each couple. I loved the grandmother throughout all the books. I liked the overlapping of businesses and various related expertise that characters brought together for the success of all. I felt that I learned a little about growing crops while being entertained. I also learned about Crohn’s disease, which I knew nothing about.
My only complaint is that the ending of the 5th, and apparently the last book felt like more of a segway into another plot line than a conclusion of the series.
Overall, I enjoyed this RomCom series and would have read more if available.
• Second Chance • Short and cute • Baaabara the sheep who thinks she's a dog • Chronic illness rep • Saving his farm
This couldn't have been more cute! It's the first book in the Farm 2 Forking series and I devoured it. It's short! And such an easy read!
This was a cute second chance romance. Following Ethan and Lia's after spending years apart. Lia is brought back to Fork Lick to help Ethan and his family come up with ways to save Bedd Fellow's Farm!
I fell instantly in love with Lia's character. Ethan's took a little longer. But the second he started taking care of her and changing things around his house to help her illness I was SWOONING! This man!
Also! I am LOVING all the side characters. BUT Baaabara is a favorite!!
🎧Audiobook review🎧 Dual Narration Narrated by Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge
Ahh!! Erin and Alastair did such a great job in this audio bringing Ethan and Lia to life. Erin played Lia. I freaken LOVE Erin she's one of my favorite female narrators. And this was the perfect role for her. She brought out Lia's character so well! Alastair played Ethan! And man I needed more of his audiobooks. Its been a while since I've listened to one. He did such a great job! I can't wait to listen to these two this whole series! 😍
Review for Since You've Bean Gone by Lainey Davis. This story brought me so much joy, it was just light and fun and really had me laughing. I didn’t think I could read a story that talked about poop as much as it did and still enjoy it, but here we are.
Ethan and Lia were high school sweethearts but she left him at the end of school and he never quite understood. I liked the little bit of mystery about why she did what she did. Lia is actually back to take care of some business relating to Ethan and his family farm. They have to work together to save it and they get a lot closer and reignite feelings. There was a large part of the story involving chronic illness and I think it was handled really well . Ethan did a great job trying to learn as much as he could about it.
Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge absolutely nailed this narration! 🎙️ Erin’s voice is nothing short of incredible. The way she pours emotion and personality into every character is just perfection. Alastai, was very delightful! His voice is swoon-worthy, and he matched Erin’s energy perfectly, bringing the characters to life with so much depth and heart. This duo made the story an unforgettable experience.🎧
Audio/eBook Review: This was the first book I read by Lainey Davis so I was excited to listen to it on audio. This is also the first book in the Farm 2 Forking Series a 5 Book, multi author series set on Bedd Fellows Farm. This is Ethan Bedd and Lia Thorn’s entertaining and fun read.
Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge did a wonderful job bringing the characters and their story to life. They were spot on with the passion, the love and the drama but more importantly they got the humour.
Ethan and Lia have known each other most of their life but he stayed on the family farm while she left town and went on to be a financial advisor and now Bedd Fellows Farm is in trouble she is back home to offer advice before they lose it all. As soon as Ethan and Lia start working together they realise the feelings they had are still there but will Lia want to give up her city life for life on the farm. This book made me smile well let’s be honest who wouldn’t laugh when grandma’s sheep who is called Baarbara. I loved the characters, I loved the banter but more importantly I loved the story and how the author wrote compassionately about Lia’s Crohn's disease. A heartwarming, witty romantic comedy that I highly recommend.
Since You've Bean Gone is book #1 in the Farm 2 Forking series. Lainey Davis always brings us stories about folks with real lives and struggles that we can relate with but still have that romantic fantasy of an HEA. Ethan is struggling to save his family farm that has landed in a huge amount of mortgage debt and about to be foreclosed on. The lender sends none other than his enemy Lia Thorne, Ethan's ex-girlfriend from high school, to help get the farm back on its feet. There are a lot of unanswered questions from their past, secrets that have yet to be revealed, oh...and a possible fiancé that are mudding the waters. But the chemistry between these two is still sparking. This is a funny, heartwarming, totally steamy second chance/small-town romance that will keep you listening from beginning to end. Forking good fun and an excellent start to this fantastic series!
The duet narration was spectacular. Alastair Haynesbridge is one narrator that I could listen to all day long and never be disappointed. He definitely gave us the grumpy Ethan we were expecting. Erin Mallon has been a mainstay in my audio library with her versatility in bringing the funny and sexy sides of her characters. These two were just a dynamic duo. 5 forking stars!!
This book is the first in the Farm 2 Forking series with 5 books, 5 authors. We get off to a great start as we meet the situation on Bedd Fellows Farm, son-in-charge Ethan Bedd and Lia Thorne, a financier sent to help refinance the farm. Lia and Ethan have unresolved history and this all unfolds as they spend time together, working to save the farm.
It's definitely a romcom, with silliness around Grandmas's sheep Baabara Streisand, and a host of Ethan's siblings wandering in and out. Not everything is resolved, which neatly sets up the next books but the gold here is the rekindling of Ethan and Lia's relationship. They just slot back together so well, there's kindness and caretaking and while Ethan isn't educated or travelled in the way that Lia is, it's pretty clear he has so much to offer her. I loved the Crohn's disease representation, especially as we see how this disease has affected Lia and her life choices. Ethan is so wonderful with her, he's proactive and thoughtful. Grandma's cooking gets a gold star too! Recommended reading and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
Thank you Lainey Davis for the ARC. Opinions are my own.
Thirty-two year old Ethan Bedd has been tending the family farm, but now his grandfather has died, leaving the rest of the family with $750,000 worth of debt, and the bank has sent a financial advisor to help them avoid foreclosure. And who should that advisor be but Lia Thorne, Ethan’s high school sweetheart, but what Ethan does not know is that she didn’t leave Fork Lick and him because she wanted to but because of the medical diagnosis of Crohn’s disease that would kill their dreams of a family.
Lia suggests that the farm diversify their current soy bean crop with strawberries, so she and Ethan develop a plan, along with finding their feelings for each other. Lainey Davis has created a delightfully quirky, heartwarming, laugh-out-loud, steamy romantic comedy that hooked me from page one. The characters, including one spoiled goat, are carefully crafted, and the plot line is mesmerizing, even including the difficult challenges that people with Chron’s disease face daily. Grab a copy and enjoy a page-turning experience set in the town of Fork Lick, nestled in the Catskills mountains. So great!
I received this book as an ARC reviewer and voluntarily leave my honest opinion.
This is book 1 in a multi author series Farm 2 Forking. This contribution is by Lainey Davis and a wonderful start to a new series. I loved this well written / beautifully duo narrated second chance romance. Our main characters are Ethan and Lia and the audio version with it's dual narrators bring these characters and storyline to life. Lia left Ethan suddenly and broke his heart and now she's back at the worst time for Ethan and his family only she comes with hope in hand, but she's also struggling with her own issues which was why she initially left to begin with. Will Ethan and his family be open to change to save all they hold dear and, in the process, will Lia find that the home she left is still home? Some swoon worthy sweetness, a bit of steam and some laughs...I love how the barriers fall over poo - that whole scene was hilarious, and I was laughing along with them! A great second chance romance and I can't wait to see what will be in store for book 2 in this multi author series!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review. I have both the ebook and audio versions of this read.
I listened to the audio version of this book narrated by Erin Mallen and Alastair Haynesbridge. Ms. Fallen is one of my very favorite narrators. She did a fantastic job with the narration. Her delivery is perfect for the humor in the book. Their voices work very well together for this story.
This is a great romcom that is the first story in a series written by different authors. This particular one starts out with Ethan trying to figure out how to save his family farm. The woman sent by the bank to try to help turns out to be no other than Lia, his old girlfriend.
This second chance trope is very fun. I loved the sheep named Baaabara, and especially the way the characters said her name. I also loved that Ethan was so supportive of Lia when her chronic illness was flaring. I also suffer from an invisible illness, so I really connected to that. I happen to have my own Ethan in that respect. Then there is the hot farmer holding baby animals. Lia really didn't stand a chance in resisting Ethan.
If you like a good flirty romcom, you should give this a try.
Thanks to Home Cooked Books for the audiobook. All thoughts are my own.
