Nestled in the heart of Montana, a mysterious treasure awaits.
When 13-year-old Kalli finds a cryptic poem in her hawk’s aviary, it doesn’t take long for her to realize it leads to treasure. Before she shares her secret with her best friend Clara, Kalli makes her take a vow of secrecy. But their plan goes awry when a member of their all-girls club, the Shooting Stars, gets in trouble and is forced to quit. In a desperate play to save the Shooting Stars, help her friend, and find the treasure, Clara breaks her vow to keep the treasure poem secret. Now Kalli is forced to support Clara and the club as they seek to find her treasure. To survive the dangers of the Montana wilderness alone, the girls must rely upon their loyal horses, their trustworthy dog, and their feisty hawk, but most importantly each other.
Themes of loyalty, friendship, and love of nature appear throughout the riveting plot and descriptive dialogues in the book. Would (and will) recommend to my students!
