The Academy’s secrets ran deeper than I could have imagined.
Evil spilled into every facet of my life, but I could do nothing to stop it after they’d taken my Enzo. Each day at the whim of my enemies chipped at my sanity but I had to play along with their little power games.
I wished that was my only battle, yet I couldn’t stop dwelling on the past. I never had the opportunity to face the devastating memories of my mates’ betrayals and I feared I’d never forgive.
Despite that. . . I would do anything for them, even trade my life for their freedom.
Cruelty and I were becoming closely enmeshed and I began to like it—I was a monster and it was time I embraced it, even if it meant breaking my ruined beasts.
RUINED BEASTS is a why choose paranormal romance with enemy-to-lovers/love-hate themes. Please read the Content Warnings page of the book for more in-depth descriptions. They are also available on my website.
This is undoubtedly the best one yet. Probably because there’s really never a moment’s peace to assess the plot beyond the craziness currently occurring, but I’ll take it.
The spice? Whew. The author and the characters whipped out allll the stops regardless of the chaos.
There were, however, multiple metaphor mishaps in the beginning…
She says there’s a lump the size of a soccer ball in her throat? Ima be real with you, I didn’t even know soccer existed in this world. It’s just jarring to introduce an item for comparison from literal left field.
Then, she ‘feels like a parakeet’ repeating herself. At this point, I checked myself for signs of stroke. I’m all good, if you were wondering. Just an eye twitch, but that’s understandable since it’s a PARROT, you kumquat. Parrots repeat things. They’re so well known for it, that they received their own special verb for doing so – parroting. A word that is used 40% later in the book.
But we’ve got heavyy themes of interspecies yearning and groveling, so, it’s just like my grandma used to say, “I’m willing to overlook some writing slip ups in exchange for passionate chases through the woods in their animal forms until their willing prey is pinned into submission.”
This book was insane! Depraved and spicy!!! I absolutely loved this installment and the way it was written! The FMC's brutality played alongside the MMC's desperation so well! I don't normally enjoy one of the tropes in this book, but the twist and how well it was written heightened the story and kept me on the edge of my seat! I absolutely adored the characters in this book, but that ending was intense!
I lower the rating because near the end I was getting bored with so much back-and-forth. Maya trying to remember, but forgetting after a second, Maya fucking the guys and again trying to remember, but again ignoring and running. I was hoping that by this point Maya would have forgiven the guys, but instead they kept going around in circles and it bored me.
But that ending... 😭😭 I can't believe that happened and I just hope comes back to life, otherwise everything would be ruined with that ending of the book 😭. Looking forward to the last part.
This was my least favourite installment because 2 of my least favourite tropes are forced separation and memory loss/ mind altering. But it was still very well written. But that cliffhanger!! Holy..... 😫😫😫😫😫
I have loved this series so much. I love the characters. This book was a lot more intense for me. It kept my attention, and I couldn't even take the time to write my review after I finished because I had to go straight to the next one.
Okay, this book goes into a deeper emotional journey for Maya…but it ends on a hell of a cliffhanger. I can’t write more. I have to read the final book.
This fourth book? INSANE. Unhinged. Depraved. And I loved every second of it.
The Academy’s secrets run deeper than blood, and Maya’s descent into embracing her monstrous side was EVERYTHING. She’s no longer just surviving, she’s clawing her way through betrayal, cruelty, and chaos…and she’s starting to like it. 👀🔥
What you’ll get in this installment: 🩸 Groveling MMCs (and I ATE IT UP) 🐉 Animal form chases that turn feral & spicy 👏 🐺 Brutality balanced with desperation and yearning 💀 Interspecies longing (yes, it works, yes, it’s hot) 🔥 Absolutely no peace - just back-to-back chaos 💔 An ending that made me want to throw my Kindle
Maya’s growth into her darkness is perfection. She’s savage, scarred, and so unapologetically herself now, and the way her beasts can’t help but orbit her had me feral. The desperation, the obsession, the broken devotion: chef’s kiss.
Allie Santos didn’t just raise the bar, she lit it on fire and danced on the ashes. Book 4 is depraved, raw, and unforgettable. And that cliffhanger??? I need the finale YESTERDAY.
This was an amazing! I genuinely love Maya, she has put up with and been put through so much, she still has a sunny outlook. Tanner, Enzo & Beckett are still smoking hot!
I did Not see that coming in this book! TWICE! I’m just gonna leave that there so I don’t spoil it!
Another thing that I particularly liked was how the author titled each chapter dealing with each character.. the far, the dragon, the wolf, I found it super charming!
This is a great read! I cannot recommend it enough!
