This is a very useful and accessible book of baking recipes from the editor of "Bake From Scratch" magazine and franchise, and contains all the positive features of that publication and its subsequent baking volumes from Introduction with a valuable Emergency Baking Substitutions chart and a Warming and Softening Shortcuts page before it jumps to the baking categories. An assortment of Cakes (from upside-down to loaf to bundt), Breads (yeast rolls to scones), Pies and Tarts (galettes to tarts), and the final Cookies and Bars (biscotti to shortbread, Lemon Crumb Bars to an assortment of Blondies). Each recipe gets a quick intro, precise list of ingredients (including grams) and straight-forward directions, most all of the recipes fit on one page and is accompanied by a vibrant result photo. Intriguing recipes for Sweet Potato Spice Cake with Toasted Meringue, Turtle Coffee Cake, and Baba Rustico are very enticing. Good for time-crunching bakers from beginners to more experienced. Readalikes may be One Bowl Baking by Yvonne Ruperti, Weeknight Baking by Michelle Lopez, and Bake Club by Christina Tosi.
