Jennifer lives at the base of a very tall mountain in Northern Utah with her husband, three children, and a naughty puppy. She loves the smell of rainy days, hot chocolate, and old books, preferably all at once. She is a former speech teacher, theater director, and enjoyed a brief but disastrous career as a door-to-door pollster. In her spare time, Jennifer tends to panic, wondering what she has forgotten to do that has allowed her any spare time.

In the third and final book of the Underworld Chronicles, Elves, Dwarves, Brownies, Gnomes, Pixies, Fairies, Trolls, Satyrs and Centaurs all join forces along with Elliot Penster as they attempt to save the Underworld from the Demon Kovol.

Once again, Jennifer Nielsen's fun characters, sense of humor, and wit make for a fun read that most 9-12 year-old children, and some adults, are bound to enjoy.

In Elliot and the Last Underworld War, Elliot learns an important lesson when he defeats the demon and comes to realize that even someone ordinary can do something extraordinary.

And for the next day and the next and every day after, Elliot played and learned and laughed as any ordinary kid would. Every once in a while, though, he would stop when he smelled the very strong odor of pickles. And sometimes a pointy brown hat would peek out form behind a bush. And he would know that even though he was no longer the king, a part of him would always belong to the brownies.

The final book in the series has Elliot facing Kovol the Demon, who has recently escaped.
Tubs and Cami offer their brand of assistance while the brownies and pixies also try to help.
Elliot's final adventure is still very silly and the ending is touching.

This story grew on me, it definitely had a good ending. All of Elliot's friends came together to help him fight Koval and at the end, Elliot gave Fudd what he always wanted. But this time Fudd would be ready to rule because he actually cared for other people. I admit, I didn't see that one coming. I usually dont like stories that end that way, like in Leviathan trilogy or The Last Templar where both rulers stepped down, but in this story....it seemed right.

There were still some parts of this I found funny but for the most part the novelty has worn off. It seemed to me each book was grosser and less funny than the one before it. I do, however, love how nice the characters are. Elliot is amazing and definitely someone you want kids to emulate.

Fun book series. Definitely for the middle-grade age kids. Fun, quirky characters set in a fantasy with fairytale creatures and magic. Brynolie read these books aloud to the family.

Counting books in my reading challenge that I copyedited or proofread. It's only fair. It's a damn lot of reading I'm not including otherwise!

Such a fun project.

In the final adventure, Elliot must battle the evil Kovol once and for all to save the Underworld and the world as we know it! He is aided by the faithful brownies, Harold the Shapeshifter, and yes...even the "so totally" awesome fairies and pixies! I like how his siblings, Tubs, and Cami also join in on the effort. Everything ends well and touching. I was a little sad at the ending, but I would not want it any other way. An overall fun series I am happy to add to my collection.

The Elliot series are, hands-down, my children's favorite books to be read aloud. I get undivided attention from all four of them, aged 4-9. The laughs are loud and long, and the hardest part is moving on to another non-Elliot book when it's all over. As far as my kids are concerned, Elliot is hard to beat.

- Poor Diffle

- All the great elements were there again.

- The princess of the pixies' way of speaking got annoying

- This was a great end to the trilogy.

- I highly recommend these books to young boys. They'll get a kick out of them.

This third and final book in this series was a page turner! Every spare moment we had my son was begging me to read it to him. It was a fun story that even taught some great lessons along the way.

It was a really good, short series. I could see more books in the future.
