After trying to read this thing I must say it has nothing but ornamental value, and I will put it on a shelf in my school room to add a nice pop of colour.
A different approach to writing about movies. Don’t write about the movies, write about the character types, sets, props, costumes, and other themes and patterns within the movies. That is this book. It’s different, but, like the works of Wes Anderson, each part is enjoyable, though odd, yet part of a coherent whole.
This book was a nice, relaxing fun little trip. I enjoyed the layout of a museum which was well designed. I felt i didn’t pay enough attention to bottle rocket, and i haven’t seen certain movies like life aquatic to enjoy the book as much since they reference those two a good amount. I feel inspired to watch his movies again and maybe read along. My favorite part was the projection room, i loved the inspiration and connection. Watching the movies without the knowledge of inspiration, it was very fun to look back now easily seeing the concept.
I do not think I have watched enough of Wes Anderson’s films to fully appreciate this book. I did however really enjoy how it was written and the formatting; it feels as if they did right by Anderson and like he would have approved. I especially enjoyed the ties to J.D. Salinger and The Catcher in The Rye.
