All of my readers have asked about Mark, the witch from Oliver's book, and how he came to be with his werewolf mate.
Well, take a trip back in time with me, to when they were at the most elite paranormal college in the US. And let's watch as a pair of unlikely roommates fall in love.
Blake R. Wolfe has adored werewolves and monsters since he was a child growing up in a small rural Michigan town. Now he lives near the shores of Lake Michigan with his two partners, two cats that need to be fed every three seconds, and a dog that is very spoiled. He spends most of his free time hiking through the nearby forest, thinking up the next great romance story for his readers.
Blake writes under three separate Pen Names:
--Blake R. Wolfe -- Gay Paranormal Romance
--Atreus Rosewood -- Gay Contemporary Romance
--Eoghan R. Cunningham -- LGBTQ+ Fantasy

A prickly witch and a golden retriever werewolf are rooming together involuntarily for their last year at the paranormal college they’re both attending.
There was A LOT to love about this book —all the magic, the irresistible bond, their bickering, their falling in love, them standing up for each other and a whole lot of us-against-the-world.
But some stuff in the author’s way of phrasing made me uncomfortable so I won’t rate it any higher. Although this is the sixth book in the series it can be read as a total standalone as it takes place a few years before the events of the first book. I loved that the author wrote this book practically as a fan-service to all readers who loved Mark in book #3 and were curious about him and his familiar.

The only saving grace so far has been Dustin & he kinda deserves better than the A-hole he's being paired up with!
The other MC is a downright unpleasant character & a bigoted snob to boot 😬
The Principal is a spiteful moron... on the fly without any investigation, he metes out a really harsh punishment, which technically would've meant the expulsion of all 4 students as the subjects they're banned from are the reason for their scholarships 🤦♀️
That's some exceptionally bad writing IMO. No school would dole out punishments without an investigation & a board/group of teachers arriving to an agreement about what the punishment should be.
There would be abuse of power galore if any headmaster/Principal had that kind of reach!
Again... Dustin, so far is the only likeable character in this book so far.
He's conscientious, mature & so sweet!
He tries to start over on the very 1st day & the other jackass turns his snobbish little nose up & even though he KNOWS that Dustin did NOT participate in the bullying, he still punishes him & Dustin is the one that needs to apologise AND ask for a 2nd "let's start over" olive branch!
Dustin comes clean to the Dean/Principal what have you & still he gets the harshest punishment as he did NOT participate in the bullying AT ALL!
& if I'm reading the comments correctly, he's not even named in the other books.
I only figured out that it was part of a series during the introduction, but it said this book would be set a few years before the other books... but poor Dustin, it sounds like he's nothing more than a footnote in the other books 😢
dnf at 44% the only reason these two are together is because they're awful white men and i have enough of those in my real life i dont need to read about it.
mark is elitist misogynistic scum and dustin is such a forgettable character i could not for the life of me remember his name and im almost halfway into this book. their clashes aren't like fun tension theyre an explosion of a disregard for manners and morals. dustin doesn't stop his two best friends from stealing markus's things while he's sleeping in fear of being labeled as a "sissy". mark makes derogatory elitist remarks about dustin the entire fucking time they're at odds, calling him a charity case to his face because he's not rich? mind you the BOTH of yall are on a full scholarship???? also their FIRST sex scene mark goes on and on about how he doesnt't know "how straight guys stand all that screaming and cawing women do. It’s annoying as fuck." and how he doesnt want to hear "whatever the hell it is those women are doing." right after this he tells dustin to strip????? hello??? we'll just move on from how much he hates women??????? i actually really do despise misogyny more than anything and especially from gay men because i will not and do not hesitate to get physical. these fists will be thrown especially for this miserable rich twink who wouldn't known struggle if it spit in his face. daddy issues make men so annoying.
genuinely so sick like this was already really bad but the misogyny REALLY clinched how i did not enjoy this read in the slightest
🎧 Why is it titled “Mark’s…” but he’s not the wolf? To follow with the other books, this should be “Dustin’s…,” especially since it has his wolf on the cover. Maybe that’s all just me. This book gave the story of Mark and Dustin (who the other books didn’t give the name of), a witch and a werewolf, enemies to lovers style. I was glad the political component present in the last two books wasn’t as prevalent in this one (it was still there, but it wasn’t as strong). Don’t misunderstand, it has its place, it just makes me sad that things are the way described (fiction and reality). Their story was kind of fun (it has a flying carpet!), and telling. A principal who knew of the Ombra pack… Then there’s Todd, it felt like he could have a story too… while it maybe wasn’t a story that was planned, it was a story that you could tell the author had fun writing. Especially with an over-the-top HEA.
Mark and Dustin! The love story I didn't know I needed!
This is the last(?) book of the Ombra Chronicles, and man-oh-man, this is so awesome!!
I really loved Mark in Book 3, with Oliver at the gym, and although we were given a little taste of how snarky, fun, and potentially powerful Mark is, this ties it all together beautifully!
Blake, I'll really need a book 7 on my boys, as I hate to say goodbye...although for now I'll just have to read them all again!😉❤️
I loved this one the most in the entire series… Mark is snarky and hilarious and Dustin really is just a giant overgrown puppy lol
Dual first person point of view steam was good. I would 3-4/5
Blake did an amazing job of wrapping up the entire series and bringing in the couples from the original umbra pack. What a wonderful series and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
I think this one was the most original of the six books. First of it starts out with Marcus, the witch, not the werewolf. It was fresh and different, yet still got us to the Ombra Pack.
We met Msrk in an earlier book and he saved Oliver's mate from a demon, but this was his story and it was cool.
This was the best of the series! They say to save the best for last and Blake did that. Sometimes authors repeat parts of the story with different characters, not here.
So happy to have Mark's story. It was an exciting trip, and I am glad that you made an issue of the bullying, as I had it for many years of my life. A HEA with a great ending. Keep the books coming, and I'll keep buying them!
