When Frederica Beauchamp boards a ship for the Americas, she dreams of a life filled with adventure, but she gets more than she bargained for when her passenger ship is attacked by pirates. The heartless men kidnap her and force her to serve their captain—a fate that might be worse than death, since though he does not have his way with her, the captain delights in baring her, shaming her, and thrashing her bare bottom as punishment for every imagined disobedience.

After the pirates bring aboard an injured man found floating in the sea, Frederica tends to his wounds and learns that he is Gaston Galette, a survivor of a shipwrecked vessel. Gaston seeks her help to overthrow the vile captain, but when their plan goes awry he is forced to use all of his wiles to save them. As the naïve girl and the seasoned sailor navigate one perilous situation after another, he informs Frederica that the only way they can survive is if he is in command, and that if she thinks things can be otherwise, she will be taken over his knee for a bare bottom spanking.

As he watches the proud, willful Frederica bow to his authority, however, Gaston worries that her growing hold on his heart will be his downfall. He knows he cannot take a woman with him when he returns to his ship and crew, but when Frederica accepts his lustful dominance completely, submitting to him with grace and beauty no other woman could match, Gaston realizes that he may never be able to let her go.

Publisher’s Note: Rescued by the Buccaneer is the first book of the Pirates of the Jolie Rouge trilogy. It is an adventure and erotic romance novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes including elements of BDSM and humiliation, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

out of all the books i downloaded on the stuff your kindle day, i was most excited about this one because it was pitched as pirates with bdsm. like hello!!! on a ship full of ropes, that sounds great!! but it was really not. awkward writing, awkward characters, rushed action. no development, annoying main character, predictable. thankfully it was short enough to get through quickly, but this really left me unimpressed and disappointed.

So, I was overcome with coverlust...yet again.

This is probably best described as historical erotica. I don't have outrageously high standards for historical content in erotica. But this was just not good. It's one of those historical's where you get the impression that the extent of research on the time period the author did was to read other a couple of other historical romances of the same time period. Historical erotica can be good! Seriously, check out Jess Michaels or Charlotte Featherstone. The sex wasn't even all that good. At least had it been fantastic sex that could have made up for the rest of the content (or lack thereof).

I'd skip it if I was you.

I was given this book by Normandie Alleman in exchange for an honest review...

Right to start of with is that I love Normandie's books!!
I have read a few of them and they never get old, they are always different and fresh and this one sits right up there with the rest of my reads from her..
The thing for me is why this one is so freaking good is I don't normally read these types of books e.g pirates, historical they have just never really appealed to me but with this book it was so different, I can kinda understand the appeal with pirates lol...
I got an email from her and she sent me the plot an when I first read it I was like hmmm not so sure because of what it was but I was like 'okay Joanne you have read her work and loved it so give this a try' and so I did and I am just glad that I did.

In this book we have Frederica who is annoyingly naive at times as well as stubborn and when she is put to it she can argue like a pro and also makes the points come across when they are making not one bit of sense but the thing I liked is that she wanted a life and a adventure for her and her friend who is more like a sister but she just wanted more and you can't knock a chick for wanting for the better, well that is before her ship is attacked down from the pirates and she is taking against her will.

Will she ever be free?

What is to come of her future?

Would she rather be dead then face what the nasty captain has in store for her?

Of course with these types of books there is always a good guy well a hot sexy guy that makes you wanna jump his bones and that's when Gaston comes into this tale *enters Gaston with his hot wet body* he is like one of those guys that think he is the LORD!!! but not in a bad way so to speak, he is cunning and ruthless.

What's he got up his sleeve?

Will he open his heart for a chance of love?

I can say that for something I don't normally read that I really enjoyed this.
This first part of the trilogy was a great start and left me wanting more and I can also say as a spanking kink that is huge for me the spanking in this was perfect. It left me feeling like I wanted a spanking and I made sure I got one lol.

Thanks for letting me read and review this book and the huge build-up to a great trilogy to come...

This was my first Normandie Alleman story, and wow was I impressed! She really puts together a great story!

Frederica), taken captive by a Jolie Rouge pirate ship, is tenacious and strong willed, a woman who can do anything she sets her mind to.

Gaston, a good guy (also a pirate), set adrift in the sea, meets Frederica aboard the pirate ship, and talks her into helping him attempt a mutiny.

This was a wonderful mixture of high seas action and drama, mixed with island romance and hot sex, further combined with a fun engaging plot that kept me turning the pages.

And the spankings?! I loved them too. There was such an interesting contrast between the harsh punishments doled out by the pirate captain, (the bad guy that takes our heroine captive), and the firm chastisements given out by Gaston.

I loved the interplay between these three main characters, and adored the sexual awakening the beautiful, young Frederica went through.

This was action packed, romantic, sexy; had great emotional character development, and some awesome spankings!

What a fun read! I can’t wait for the next story!

love anything Normandie Alleman, I first discovered her as an author when I started reviewing for Stormy Night Publications. The first book I read by her was Daddy Morebucks and I loved it! Since then I have become an avid fan of hers reading everything by her. She is definitely one of my top 5 favorite authors. When she told me she was writing a historical pirate trilogy I was intrigued. I usually despise anything historical but I wanted to see if Normandie remained herself when writing this. By adding a strong personality and a sprinkle of humor. She does just that!

Frederica Beauchamp has a lot of growing up to do, she is most certainly naive and stubborn. She knows how to put up a good argument and point out things when they don't make any sense. She boards a ship for the Americas and gets more than her fair share of adventure when her ship is attacked and she is taken prisoner on a pirate ship. Faced with a fate far worse than death, she is humiliated and used for the captain's pleasure.

Gaston Galette slips into the story perfectly, he comes along the pirate ship as a survivor from a ship wrecked vessel and meets Frederica when she is dressing his wounds. He learns a little about her in the beginning and already has a plan to overthrow the captain. To me, Gaston is that schoolboy that is full of mischief and always had a plan up his sleeve. He is careless in all thing except when it comes to Frederica, he feels a need to protect her.

I loved Rescued By The Buccaneer because it has a strong buildup that will lead you into wanting to read the rest of the trilogy. If you are seeking kink, there is some but not a whole lot. Book One is mostly the buildup to let you know about the characters and their various personalities. I look forward to reading Book Two, Bound By The Buccaneer later this year!

If you are looking for adventure, romance, and steamy sex, this is the book for you! When Frederica gets captured by malicious pirates, it’s only fitting that she be rescued by another pirate. She and her rescuer, Gaston, find themselves shipwrecked on a tropical island. That's when the love story and steamy scenes escalate. I love Gaston’s character, and as I was reading I kept picturing Johnny Depp the whole time. (Of course.)

Frederica is a feisty heroine who gives Gaston everything he can handle. I highly recommend this book as a fun, sexy, historical escape. I can't wait for the second book!

I was given a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.

Rescued By the Buccaneer by Normandie Alleman is a great book that I could not put down. Frederica, aka Freddy, cracked me up throughout the book. One minute she is shy, virginal, and naive, and the next she is wanton, fierce and brave. He trip to the colonies does not go exactly as planned, but she makes the best out of a bad situation. I seriously do not know how to classify this book. It was funny, romantic, erotic, and adventurous. For a short read, I did not feel like there was anything missing.
I hope to read more from this author. She seems to get the right blend of, well everything, to make this book work. I give 4 stars for keeping me entertained.

Rescue ME Gaston!Let me start by saying how much I loved these characters. I LOVE a book where I can connect and actually get inside the head of the characters. Frederica and Gaston really came alive for me. It was easy to empathize with Frederica and all the terrible things that happened to her, and Gaston was as magnetic and charming as could be. From the moment they met I was rooting for them to get together. It took a while for Gaston to come around and for her to stop being upset with him, but ultimately the payoff for the reader is huge and the love scenes are sizzling. I recommend as a fresh take on historical erotic romance!

Okay... I needed a book with pirates for a challenge... preferable with BDSM. This story was very 'standard' and not particulary good. A dime a dozen-story; fluffy, boring and predictable... and disappointing. Or maybe it's just me... and I like my books darker nowadays? ;-)

Frederica Beauchamp is a young woman traveling to America from Europe with her best friend Cassandra. After her parents died, Frederica decides to move herself and her friend to the Americas to start over and try to restart their lives.

Things do not go according to plan. Pirates (not at all like Captain Jack Sparrow) attack the ship the girls are traveling on. Frederica is the only one that is spared and is taken prisoner by the captain of the pirate ship.

The Captain is a horrendous man. Most of the time he’s drunk and can’t do anything, but when he’s sober it’s not good news for her. Sometimes when he’s drunk it’s not so great either. She’s kept locked away in the captain’s quarters out of the view of the crew. He tries to rape her at one point, but because of wounds he sustained years before, he can’t…uh… preform. He beats her though, with is almost as terrible as the rape would have been. Maybe.

After some times passes, a new passenger is taken aboard the ship. Gaston Galette is plucked out of the sea by the pirates and is sent to Frederica so that she can tend to his wounds. He’s intrigued by her because she’s young, pretty and the only woman on the ship. What were the circumstances surrounding her arrival to the ship?

He turns on the charm and convinces her to meet him in the middle of the night on the deck when it’s most likely it will be deserted so that they could talk. Things happen that surprise her (in a good way) and she eventually agrees to help him with his plans for mutiny.

The mutiny doesn’t go according to plan, and they’re both sent to Davy Jones Locker. Or rather… they’re tossed overboard. I can’t imagine that… being on a pirate ship and then being handcuffed, and THEN getting made to walk off a plank out in the middle of the ocean. I’m a pretty good swimmer, but I would have panicked.

Gaston is able to get them both to shore and finds shelter. Their time on the beach is both sweet and hot. We don’t get a lot of his backstory, but even though Gaston has been through a lot in his life (I’m assuming he’s in his late twenties…maybe early thirties) he’s still able to be a nice person and takes into consideration Frederica’s feelings. He knows that a life with him on a pirate ship would not be an easy one, even if it’s something he would like.

A few days after finding shelter on what they at first thought was a deserted island, Gaston learns that his ship that had been damaged in battle (which is why he was adrift at sea) was on the island being repaired. He’s reunited with his crew and sets about trying to distance himself from Frederica.

I thought their reunion after he basically hid from her was hilarious. She might not be that experienced but she knows what she wants and she goes after it. She’s met with some resistance at first, but in the end things happen the way they should.

Rescued by the Buccaneer was a short read just like Daddy Morebucks was. It actually might have been shorter. I wish it’d been a bit longer…so that we could see how life on the pirate ship was for both Gaston and Frederica. I really enjoyed it though, despite the shortness of the book. It’s well written and I seriously enjoyed watching Frederica grow into herself and discover more about herself. There were some characters that I didn’t like (like the evil captain) but I wasn’t supposed to like them. Gaston was a love. He’s a hard man, but he’s not bad. THOUGH — is it bad that whenever I read his name (or typed it now) I thought of the Disney movie The Beauty and the Beast? Yes? No? Maybe I’m just weird?

Anyway, overall I really enjoyed the book. I’d read it again and I’d tell anyone that would enjoy a short, but hot read about one eyed pirates that they should pick up this book.

10/10 would recommend.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Pirates, adventure and romance were all mixed into this novella. Filled with heart racing moments of spanking as this pirate had to reign in this feisty young woman.

Frederica Beauchamp, seeking adventure, left the comfort of her diseased parents home to find her own way to the new world. But life as we know it does not always work out as we planned and soon she found herself in the hands of a ruthless pirate. Captain Humphrey from the Jolie Rouge held her captive in his cabin while teaching her the ways of the flesh. This young virgin, not realizing the effect what his ministration had on her body; became his sex slave and found herself locked up in his cabin for months. She never lost her hope to find what she always dreamed about. Knowing that there was so much more to discover than what she was experiencing. Her skills coming to the rescue every time she needed a reason to proof herself.
When they picked up a shipwrecked, from the ocean, her world changed once again.

Gaston Galette, found himself at the mercy of this unsavory captain trying to take over the ship since the sailors were already dissatisfied with him.
But disaster struck and he and Frederica found themselves walking the plank.
A man used to be in command, Gaston seemed to be always in control, no matter the circumstances. His knowledge and skill saving them both.

Lost at sea they survived when they came across a island, finding their way and each other; where she had learned more about her own body by the hands of this pirate captain. Totally different form Captain Humphrey.
Passion ignited from the moment they met and willingly she submitted to this man she hardly knew.
When choices had to be made; continue with her journey or stay with him we find this young woman defying every rule to proof herself to him.
A fast paced story filled with action, adventure and enough erotica to keep you entertained till the very last end.
Both characters were challenged in their way of life, learning to cope with what life dealt them, finding more than they had expected.

Frederica is on her way to the new world (America) to find adventure but I am sure what she encountered was nothing she ever dreamed of. After her ship is attacked by pirates Frederica is kidnapped and forced to be of "service" to the pirate ship's captain.

When the pirates have her tend to a man they scooped up from the ocean they form an instant connection. Gaston had survived being shipwrecked and is loving his time with Ferderica, she is just what he is looking for to loose himself until he rejoins his men. There is chemistry between Gaston and Ferderica, but for some reason I felt a disconnect with the characters.

I know that a lot of historical books portray women as helpless creatures that need a strong hand to discipline and keep them in line, but I liked Frederica and didn't think that she was to headstrong but hey those were the times she was in. I enjoyed the light BDSM, Domestic Discipline, and the story itself, but for some reason I just couldn't connect with them.

I have enjoyed other books by Normandie Alleman so I will continue this series and hope that I have a better connection with the characters in the upcoming books.

2.5 stars, rounded to 3

Okay, I would have been unlikely to read this except I got it free (stuff your Kindle day download) and I wanted to read a pirate romance. This was okay - loads of steamy scenes and mild kinkiness along with a story that seemed a little farfetched. I wasn't a huge fan of Frederica, but oh my! Gaston! (cue hand fanning). My main complaint is that this was more like an installment on a serial novel. Yes, it was free...obviously so the author could suck you into buying the rest of the story (it appears to take 2 more novellas to finish this up).

Shortest Book Ever

It's not a full book. It's more like two chapters and it's just a girl getting spanked and debauched. Sad.

A headstrong heroine, a Pirate Captain, some spicy spankings, a lot of naughty behavior & HELLO my Master!

Frederica Beauchamp left England to find adventure in America & she brought only 1 truck & her BFF Cassandra with her. While traveling the high seas, her ship is attack by pirates, knocked out, wakes in another cabin, learns she is the only survivor & the Pirate Captain's captive, but soon discovers that she likes be spanked.

Gaston Galette's ship was attacked & as he dodged a cannon ball, was thrown into the drink, floats for days, until he is rescued by a ship flying the "Jolie Rouge" flag, which means they only deal death, but they pill him in & into the caring hands of an innocent girl, Freddie.

Soon they band together to cause a mutiny, but it goes wrong, they are tied up, thrown into the brig & Gaston learns that Freddie likes a good spanking. As they walk the plank, they meet the sea, strip down to swim & Gaston promises to get her to land, protects her at night & she sees land the next day. What's to do on a deserted island, but survive together, right? No, Freddie wants him to release her inner submissive & he is totally down with that. With her Master's exquisite domination of all her girlie parts, while she quivers, shivers & begs for more, she falls in love with her Master. All to soon for Freddie, they find civilization, his crew, his wounded ship & it possible the end of Freddie's sexual freedom with him. Can Gaston love, accept & take her with him always? Will Freddie release her BAD GIRL & pull her Master back? How will his crew feel with her on board?

This is my 1st Ms. Alleman erotic romance read & I am hooked to her PANTIE DROPPING naughty books. I love historical romances, but sometime the virginal heroine need some spiciness & Freddie was a woman, who was shocked at 1st, but went with what made her feel good & she was not going to feel bad about. Gaston was a pirate, maybe not by choice, but he lived with his choices & Freddie shock his foundation. I respect any Dom/sub relationship because it is so much more than just amazing orgasms, but deeply earned trust. Do you remember the 1st time you were really naughty & maybe sneak a peek at say, Cinemax After Dark, & felt all jittery & nervous about getting busted by your parents, well I was peeking behind my pillow as I devouring this yummy read! This Ms. Alleman piratey tale is a guilty, naughty indulgence that will make you feel like butterflies bombed your tummy, give you a happy pleasure center & wake up all your senses! That is why Ms. Alleman earns my top score of 5 fingers up & 10 toes because she will take you on a swashbuckling ride filled with satisfy, misbehaving, scandalous & erotic behavior!

This is a 2-in-1 review of the Pirates of the Jolie Rouge books: Rescued by the Buccaneer and Bound by the Buccaneer. Both books follow the same characters, Frederica and Gaston.

Get ready for a great seafaring series, of pirates and adventures, all for grown ups. The action starts from the first chapter of the first book to the last chapter of the last book.

Frederica was on voyage on a ship heading to the American Colonies in the New World when her ship was attacked by pirates and many of the passengers murdered. Frederica was abducted and she became prisoner to Captain Humphreys. She is surprised that while her mind despises Captain Humphrey's brutish behaviour, her body responds to his ministrations.

Along the way they picked up Gaston who had been adrift on debris in the sea after his ship Ocean's Knave was involved in a battle and became damaged. There is instant attraction between the two when Frederica has to tend to Gaston's injury. The air sizzled around them. Of course, their interlude doesn't last long when Humphreys routs Gaston's mutinous plans. Eventually, Gaston reunites with his crew and Frederica manages to convince him to let her be part of it.

At the start of Bound by the Buccaneer, we meet Gaston and Frederica enjoying their lives together. Gaston has taught Frederica to embrace her submissiveness and he is a protective master. But danger is not far behind because their chosen livelihood of robbing other pirate ships have made them lots of enemies and trouble is brewing for them. To counter this they need the support of like-minded captains. The men drive a hard-bargain and will only help them if Gaston agrees to share Frederica with them.

Frederica is a strong and spirited, sometimes to her own detriment. She is adventurous and will try anything once. She views her encounter with the three captains as such. On the other hand Gaston regrets agreeing to the deal as jealousy eats him up. It is easy to understand his internal struggle after she's enjoyed the night with three men.

I came to understand both characters a lot better in the second book, especially Gaston, as their relationship became truly tested. Although he had seemed a little standoffish at first, it was great to see him finally put his heart on the line and fall in deep love with Frederica.

This is a great sizzling action-adventure series. Both books are well written, the characters are engaging and readers will enjoy their erotic and fun adventures. This is my first time of reading this author and I will surely be hunting down more books.

A Manic Readers Review

Manic Readers

Adventures, abductions, pirates and spanking…Normandie Alleman’s successful recipe for a great book.

Frederica Beauchamp doesn’t have anything holding her to England. She decides to go on a great adventure and boards a ship to meet her distant family in the Americas. Her adventure doesn’t go as planned and she finds at her journey grief, fear, love and hope.

Gaston Galette has always been a fighter and up until now, life has given him an extra dose of luck that has made him overcome several disadvantages. He is rescued by a red flag pirate ship, but is this good or bad? On that ship he finds a lot more than he has ever bargain for. There he fights others and himself, through a journey that may change his life’s course forever.

Rescued by the Buccaneer has some amazing characters. They feel real and are easy to connect with. Frederica is the perfect historical heroine. She is beautiful, sweet, naïve, but resilient, strong and adventurous. Frederica doesn’t give up even when life doesn’t show her mercy, and she fights for what she believes even when it seems impossible. She is the type of character I want for a friend. Gaston is the dangerous, hot, not-so-good hero type, which is a bonus, and the secondary characters are all relevant to the plot.

Ms. Alleman brings a fast-paced, well created plot, and the story kept me guessing until the end. Most important, the book has me curious enough to want know what comes next.

I would recommend this book to everyone that enjoys a sexy adventure with a few spanking in the mix, and some wicked pirates as a bonus.

As Gaston says: “A pirate’s life, my dear, is filled with danger. Comes with the territory.”

Wonderful Story! Normandie Alleman writes beautifully! she really brings her characters and story to life and makes you feel as if you are right there along with them as adventure after adventure is being had. I really love historical romances, especially ones with pirates! and this one was awesome! The people, the battles and the high seas are never more adventurous then in a story like this one!

We all know that Pirates are the bad guys which makes them so thrilling to read about. What makes a story like this tricky is that they have to be the bad guys and the good guys all at the same time. Normandie Alleman does this part of the book really well, just when you start to forget that Gaston the main character isn't the good guy he goes and does something bad guy like to remind you. He totally reminded me of Damon from Vampire Dairies the T.V. Show the ultimate bad boy and sexy as hell and a complete ass...lol

The book defiantly had the whole "Master" "Slave" thing going on as well and considering it was 1660 of course all the men were in charge and hey Pirates. The author not only used it in a sexual way but in the historical way in that woman had to bow down to men of the time especially when one was a captive. This irked me as I kept wanting to tell her not to bow down to no man...lol...but of course we all know that because of the times things like this are accurate and me ranting and raving at her in my modern way of thinking is kind of pointless and stupid.

All in all I really enjoyed the book and I will definitely have to read more of Normandie's books! so for all you historical romance fans out there this is a book you will want to add to your reading list!

It's been a very long time since I read a historical, let alone one that include nice juicy erotic scenes to boot. Pirate romances aren't my thing but Miss Normandie has changed that. I loved this at sea romance adventure.

Frederica is definitely a woman all her own. She doesn't fit the normal domestic damsel that other books speak of. She has grit and determination. A majority of the time she acts or talks before she thinks things through. She is a free spirit that society at that time would rather pin in. That is until she falls into the hands of pirates on the high seas.

She becomes a prisoner. She becomes a slave and Captain Humprey's property that is until they come across another stranded almost sunk individual in the sea. They rescue Gaston because he'd be another able body able to work on ship. He keeps his true identity hidden to save his own neck.

Frederica and Gaston's worlds collide and nothing is the same ever again. Frederica learns that it is indeed better to obey than disobey when Gaston's had enough and reddens her bottom. Chaos reigns and they both find themselves at the mercy of the sea once again. Washed up on shore of an island things heat up between them in more ways than one.

Want to find out how things heat up? Then read the story for all the hot details and the booty that pirates find. I can't wait to read the 2nd book in this wonderful series. You won't be disappointed.

Young Frederica Beauchamp manages to get herself spanked by not one but two pirates in this great spanky pirate adventure. When she survives being captured by pirate on her way to a new life in America, she becomes to slave of Pirate captain, Humphrey who is a bit of all-round bastard.

When Gaston Galette shows up and almost immediately throws frederica over his knee for a spanking, he looks like he mightn't be much better than Humphrey in his treatment of her. In fact I didn't like him at all to begin with. But you know what that sexy spanky pirate totally won me round. He wins Frederica round as well, more importantly. When the two of them are cast adrift in the sea, he shows himself to be a true hero, despite his devil-may-care attitude and nefarious career choice.

Definitely worth reading especially if you like a bit of swashbuckling with your spank.

One minor gripe though. Who the devil is that man on the cover? It's certainly not Galette who is repeatedly described as having an eyepatch and dreadlocks both of which are conspicuously absent on Mr Shirtless there. For goodness sake, how busy can Johnny Depp be? Can't someone get him to put on his Jack Sparrow costume, bung on an eyepatch and pose for a new cover for this? That'll bring it in line with the version of Galette I had in my head all the time I was reading this.

Holy HOT Historical Romance!

I can honestly say that I have never read an erotic historical romance before, but it was so unique, and I was fascinated by the idea!

I enjoyed reading Frederica because of her innocence and her pride. Throughout the book, she maintained respect for herself even in the face of some difficult situations. Her lack of knowledge and experience about things in general was, at times humorous, but it also highlighted Gaston's virtues of patience and understanding.

Gaston was wonderful! As I mentioned, he had a side to him that is very patient, but the other side of his coin is pure alpha; he was in charge and everyone had to know that. I liked when even his alpha side admitted he just might have feelings for Frederica.

And oh my goodness, this book had some VERY steamy scenes! I must say that they all are not what one might find in a typical romance novel, but that difference was very refreshing to me. I think that Normandie might be on to something with this "Erotic Historical Romance" genre!

A Jolie Rouge pirate ship attacks the ship Frederica is on and kills everyone except one pirate sees Frederica (Freddie) he does not want to see her killed and saves her but then she is forced to serve the captain. He can not use her body physically so he beats and humiliates her instead.

Gaston a handsome one eyed pirate captain is forced to jump ship to avoid canon fire and is set adrift and picked up by the same pirates. He decides to take over the ship but his plans are discovered to soon.

Gaston and Freddie are then forced to "walk the plank." Forced together in a deadly situation this is where the characters really start to develop. The relationship between the Hh are believably written especially with the BDSM development in the story.

If you like a strong, sexy, alpha pirate and a stubborn, saucy wench you will enjoy this book! The author did a good job with the development of this story and made the book fun and interesting nonstop adventure.

Swashbuckling Adventure - BDSM style!

Frederica sets sail to the new world only to run into a band of fearsome pirates flying none other than the 'Jolie Rouge,' which should spell nothing but death. Luckily for her, the fates spare her but her new course will not prove to be an easy one. Surrounded by pirates she finds herself settling into her new role as seamstress and doctor, trapped without recourse to escape, until the delightful Gaston comes aboard.

They form a friendship and when Gaston volunteers to try and take over the ship, Frederica agrees to be his aide. All is not smooth sailing, however, and while the sparks fly between this delicious couple, so do the twists and turns of the book.

Verdict: Delightful spankings, beautiful humorous dynamic between the characters and plenty of action. All in all - A FIVE STAR READ!!!

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

When Frederica's parents have passed away, she decided to leave England and travel to the American colonies. She and her best friend Cassandra set out on the Adelaide. When the Adelaide is taken over by pirates, Frederica is the only one left alive. She learns a bit about BD, Gaston was found floating in the water. He tried to stage a revolt, but was found out.

Frederica and Gaston were made to walk the plank. They floated until they came upon an island. Gaston taught Frederica the joys of BDSM. When Gaston finds his crew, they are repairing the ship. He plans on leaving her on the island. She has other plans.

Can they see eye to eye or will he break both of their hearts?

I have a deep and abiding love of historical romance, the hotter the better. When I saw some initial reviewers that didn't like it because it has quite a few historical inaccuracies, I thought it was something I could overlook. And, to be honest, the historical problems weren't the problem. The writing is.
The characters are as shallow as a puddle and incredibly unlikable. There is no one to root for. The language is cringe-worthy throughout. I tried and tried, hoping the book would improve, I got two-thirds the way through before giving up, and the only reason I stuck it out for so long was because I paid for it.
Decent alternatives is When Strangers Marry by Lisa Kleypas, or even Enslaved by the Ocean by Bella Jewel.

Frederica is on a ship to America with her best friend where she thinks all her dreams are going to come true. When her ship gets attacked by a pirate ship and she is captured, life as she knows it changes drastically.
Gaston is a captain of a ship that was attacked and forced him to jump ship and float in the ocean until Neptunes Damnation, the pirate ship that captured Frederica, allowed him passage. One look in her eyes and Gaston knew he was sunk.
After some misunderstandings, walking the plank among them, they find themselves in the ocean wading towards land. Can a proper virginal girl and a broody pirate make the love connection they both so desperately need?
Absolutely loved this book! Smoking hot submission/sex scenes!

Who doesn't like a great pirate capture fantasy? Well.. this wasn't a great one, but it was okay. The problem was the lack of character development and over reliance on cliches. There just wasn't much to the story and the romance between Frederica and Gaston wasn't one I could really care much about. It might have been more interesting if something had come of several supporting characters, such as the evil pirate captain and the sweet first mate, but they got screen time and were never seen again leaving several loose ends.

To make it worse, I'm afraid Disney's Beauty and the Beast has made it impossible for me to take a hero with the name of Gaston at all seriously. It was still a fun little romp and fine for something light to read when that is your mood.
