... don't @ me. I love Barbie movies so much, and I love books. Did you really think my love of this would be anything less?

The most stand out part of this story for me was the artwork. Each painting was so detailed and lovely and whimsical. Very in line with Barbie and with the happy-Disneyfied-for kids version of the Rapunzel story.

The plot didn't always make sense, like the fact that all of a sudden, Rapunzel was an artist? But the additions of animal friends and Gothel's motivations and the spell at the end... love it. I really want to rewatch the movie now.

... I might go do that.

I’m pretty good at blocking Barbie books from view when we visit the library, but the librarians at my neighborhood branch must have it out for me because Barbie books are ALWAYS faced out.

This picture book is hilarious. It's an adaptation of the movie "Barbie as Rapunzel," and it assumes a great deal of familiarity with that story. If you haven't seen the film, it will come across as weirdly bizarre, with huge sense jumps and comically absurd leaps in the story (like the introduction of both a magic paintbrush AND a magic hair brush). For me, I didn't even know there was a film, and for years I read this aloud to my daughter, having a very hard time trying to containing the guffaws as I read. Then we found the video at the library, watched it, and the book makes a lot more sense. I actually prefer it as absurd, with all the context of the film removed. So if you haven't seen the film, don't bother. The book is a lot more ridiculous without it, and that's fun.

I actually own this as treasury with 'The Nutcracker'. It's wonderfully illustrated. Nice book for children. I hope to share it with my daughter one day (If I have a girl) . I thought it was nice but didn't understand why her hair was long at the end? Gothel cut it off!

I can't believe I let someone talk me into reading this book. I can't believe this book exists. We are all doomed.
