En soit très bon livre, l'auteur a clairement une riche compréhension de l'histoire du conflit, des différents acteurs et de leurs motivations politiques. L'approche historique, politique et matérialiste permet une analyse rationnelle des enjeux sans recourir à des clichés orientalistes et mystiques qui reviennent bien trop souvent dans les discours concernant l'Asie de l'Ouest. Malheureusement, ce livre est un peu brouillon, avec des passages moins soutenus et d'autres contenant des erreurs d'édition. Bien qu'il soit rigoureusement documenté et sourcé, l'analyse est parfois superficielle et la frustration de l'auteur avec le gouvernement israélien (bien que justifiée) risque de décrédibiliser certains de ses arguments.
