If Sasha thought life would slow down after being captured, she was dead wrong.
Having an extremely high level of magic, but not knowing how to use it, has become more than a little problematic. Struggling to get her power under control has everyone on their toes, waiting for something to blow up. And then there is the issue of loving Stefan, but not being able to mate him because she hadn't a clue how to lead, which is necessary if she wants to rule by his side.
No, things have not gotten any easier.
With the incoming visit of the Regional and his white mage, the pressure turns way up for both Sasha and Stefan. So many issues are riding on the balance, and one word from the authoritative pair could have Sasha back in her old life, still in danger, and without the resources to carry on.
Sasha has to learn to battle while walking on a razor's edge.

Ok, so now I see how ridiculous this series actually is. It still has some funny moments and it read fast but I am done with the series. There are many much better out-there.
Sometimes you get so attached to fictional characters that when a book ends, you miss them. Such is the case for me with Sasha, Stefan, and Charles in the latest KF Breene series. The third installment in this story was released yesterday, and I happily and greedily got sucked back into their world.
This is a compelling series, full of mythological creatures and beings remade so skillfully that they seem normal. Paranormal and fantasy isn’t my favorite genre, because it takes a skilled writer with a firm grasp of reality to write a story that seems legitimate and relatable. KF Breene is exactly that kind of writer, and I thoroughly enjoy reading everything she writes.
On A Razor’s Edge picks up more or less where Braving the Elements left off, with Stefan and Sasha totally in love and screwing every chance they get. With the much anticipated arrival of the Regional - essentially the Boss’s boss - we see Stefan in a whole new light, and learn more about how Stefan’s people fit into our world. There is also another species of almost-humans and a road trip involved. Lots of magic, lots of information, lots of fun.
Honestly, the real world seems pretty boring and staid in comparison.
The more I read this series, the more intrigued I get. Yes, I love the hot sex and the proliferation of physical beauty, but it is the magical power and the non-human creatures that really fascinates me. I am a bit wistful for their almost-real world, and after each book I look at our world a bit differently. It’s possible there are other human-like species walking around....it’s possible that humans have the ability to wield magic, if only we knew how....it is all very possible....
This third book lives up to the high standards of fun, interesting, and hot established by the first two books. It is a enchanting read, and while several important issues are satisfied, it will leave you hungry for the next book.
I really liked the first book, but the second book was a bit of a let down. It has redeemed itself with book 3, lol. I like where the plot line is leading us and hopefully the characters will develop a bit more.
On A Razor’s Edge starts off with Stefan and his clan awaiting a visit from the Regional – the grand poobah (more or less) of Stefan’s race of “not humans but not vampires either”. The Regional, his linked Mage Toa and a few other council members show up on Stefan’s doorstep to scope out Sasha, determine if she has the black level magic and discuss Stefan’s taking a suitable mate.
Things go surprisingly well – all things considered – and before she knows it; Sasha is off to magic camp. Well not really, but she is off to study under Toa and learn her craft; deep in the heart of Mata country. The Regional – Dominicous who seems to take a bit of a shine to Sasha (more on that later); explains that the Council has entered into an agreement with the North American Mata (aka shapeshifters) and that Sasha will be part of an “exchange program” – going into their territory as a delegation; as Stefan’s intended mate – and also to learn to control her magic – relatively safe from the evil Andris and his Caped Crusader.
There’s lots of excitement along the way. Sasha has Charles and Jonas along as her body guards; even though Jonas hates humans, and Sasha in particular and has already tried to kill her. Stefan for some reason trusts Jonas but doesn’t trust the Mata – like at all. Darla shows up with Adnan to offer friendly assistance – because she’s just good that way. There’s betrayal and new loyalties forged. There an epic battle. There’s humor. There’s Charles thinking with his dick as usual. There’s also romance – which – I have to say – I just don’t really feel the chemistry between Sasha and Stefan – but I think it’s really a case of it being “me not them” that’s the problem. I like them both as characters.
This was a little bit of a drag... i wanted more of more of more...and when I did get more, I was kinda wasted from waiting to get there at least the sex is still holding the fortress and the banter between our heroine, her bodyguard Charles is hilarious (I like Charles, btw!) and I still need to see how this will end
So I am definitely getting tired of the "I can't figure out my magic." plot line. I am not sure if it is the way people treat her because Sasha's magic doesn't want to cooperate, or if its her own attitude towards learning the magic and trying to manipulate it, but I am for sure feeling the frustration on this. Maybe if they spent more time trying to figure out what she is and why she is this way it would help. So I am glad Trek is out of the picture, seemed a little anticlimactic tho. Why is it that Sasha can speak to the Dulcha? Everyone keeps making vague mentions of this with surprised or shocked expressions but no one ever explains what it means! I really need for Sasha to get a handle on this so we can move past it, maybe even just figure out how to learn and make some progress. The lack of progress is going to be this series's downfall for me if it doesn't pick up soon.
Sasha is still learning how to use her magic: she and Stefan are now a couple but their relationship has to be sanctioned by the Boss's bosses as well as the clan before she can officially become his mate. For both of those reasons, the visit of the Regional is very important. The third book in this series continues to entertain; Sasha is funny, fierce and full of self-doubt. Even Stefan's tender love isn't enough for her to be confident, which makes her endearing. Loved it.
The more I listen to the series the more I end up falling in love with the characters. I love Sasha and Stefan’s character and amazing chemistry. Sasha tries to learn to control and harness for talents danger looks right around the corner. Diving into the next book! Absolutely love Victoria’s narration!
I continue to enjoy Sasha's sassy and mix of unconfident personality. I am so proud of Stephen trusting her to be an ambassador to the shifters alone. Though he didn't really have a choice. Darla continues to be a hussy unfortunately and Jonas is still a jerk, but Sasha doesn't give up. My only issue was how fast it goes.
Well life for Sasha may not be getting easier but hell now after that story it's certainly getting more interesting I can't wait to read more, her powers are just amazing.
This series is making this Bibliophile so freaking happy!!! Im so engrossed with the story that it only took me a couple of hrs to finished this book! Just cant put it down. Off to read book 4!
I received On a Razor’s Edge in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by AToMR Promotions. Sasha and Stefen have survived the most recent kidnapping they are now waiting for the Regional to show arrive. When the Regional arrive they test Sasha to see if she truly is a black mage or if it’s a mistake after all the black magic uses are just a myth. They also notice that Stefen has marked her but it’s not out of business but because he loves her. The pair is nervous that they won’t let them be together but after seeing what Sasha can do things are looking hopeful. With the help of Toa a white mage Sasha may just learn to control her powers.
Stefen and his people have been at war with the Mata who happen to be shape shifters but the Regional wants to form an alliance. Wanting to keep them happy so that he can keep Sasha as his mate Stefen agrees to let her live with the Mata as an exchange program. It will give her a chance to work with Toa on her magic as well as learn to be a leader. With a friend from the past claiming her she may have found her place in Stefen’s world but will it last? What about the threat that still wants to take control of Sasha and has found a way to get her?
Oh Sasha you just keep getting better with age. Each book I find myself liking her more and more, she has this spark you can’t help liking. She’s has a sense of humor that makes me laugh even if she’s creating killer treats or taking dinosaur bites. She may be lacking in training but she’s still willing to give it a shot even when it ends badly. I love the chemistry between Sasha and Stefen they are a power couple who love each other and are willing to risk everything for each other. I still like Charles he puts up with so much but handles it well.
I found On a Razor’s Edge to be a captivating installment in the Darkness series. I couldn’t put it down I just had to know what was going to happen to my new favorite power couple. The author introduces the twist of shapeshifters which I felt added a new dynamic to the mix. I’ve read the series back to back over the course of a day and half one after another. This is another installment I finished in a few hours. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next with the series. An action packed story filled that kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end only to leave me wanting more. The characters are engaging I feel like I’m really connecting to them. The covers are beautifully done just like the story that is beautifully written. I really enjoyed reading the book it was a surprise after how much I enjoyed the series. The first book is a little rough but the second and third are fantastic. This is my first series by this author but I plan to check out what else is available while I wait for the next book….”hint hint”
Reread; Each time I read this book I fall in love more and more with each character. The relationship between Sasha and Stefan, DAMN!!! Sasha and Charles, Hilarious, but the new bonds made in this book are just as wonderful but I’m not mentioning them as it real ruin the surprise for you. But this book is going to bl*w your mind. So enjoy!!!
4🔥🔥🔥🔥 ‘On a Razor’s Edge’ is book three in K.F Breene’s Darkness series. This story continues on from ‘Braving The Elements’. Recommend reading it prior to this.
The Regional has come to asses Sasha’s magical abilities and Stefan’s choice for a mate. Sasha must learn to control her magic before someone gets hurt, especially with Trek and Andris determined more than ever to get Sasha. An alliance between Stefan’s people and the Mata (Shape Shifters) need to be formed if there is hope for success, but with so much history between them it’s not going to be easy.
A new type of “human” species is introduced in this book, although a lot isn’t explain about them, they however are a pack made up of different animal shifters, bear, “cats” and wolves, etc. This book was fast paced with another explosive fight, new levels of relationship between Stefan and Sasha, friendships and secrets revealed.
It’s very hard to write this review without giving any of the plots and twists away but please read this series. I was recommended it through a Facebook group I’m in and I can say I’m throughly enjoying it.
So many scenes stick out in this book but the one that I feel deserves a mention is when Sasha is being assessed with her magic abilities. It had me in stitches with the reactions when things wouldn’t go right (as per Sasha’s way), then heartache when she used White magic. But the one that had me hysterical was in the room after the freezing incident with her shield and the guards lol. Cryptic I know but if you go and read the book you’ll understand.
Still enjoying this series and I can’t wait to see what’s next, so I’m off to go and read ‘Demons’.
FYI there is intimate scenes in this book so recommend it for mature ages.
The Darkness series by K.F. Breene is a light fantasy romance series. It has an intriguing basic concept, action, funny banters and of course, magic, vampires and shape-shifters. The series starts out interesting but looses it all pretty soon and turns into a superficial formula fiction. The first 3 books are readable, although only as a light quick read with no expectations. The following books are disastrous.
....
You can find the full review under book 1 in this series.
Stefan thinks highly of himself and his abilities, "it's a good place to start. And the next big thing has been here. Or didn't you remember getting pounded by it when you woke up?" This one not much notes or highlights were taken as I was to busy being entertained at seeing what Stefan does for his woman.
Another night another book, I am getting through this series at a rate of knots. A book each night, once I start I can't put it down until I have finished it. This one didn't disappoint either, as we get drawn further into the lives of Sasha, Stefan, Charles (you just have to love him) and the rest of the clan we learn more about them. The Regional is making a visit to the Mansion with a white mage, Toa, to assess Sasha and her magic with is mighty fierce but which she still has very little control over. She thinks she recognises the Regional, Dominicous, when she first sees him, but all that is put to one side when Toa starts to assess her magical level, taking her higher and higher and is surprised to learn that she is actually much stronger than he is and she is a Black Mage of the highest level. However her lack of control is creating chaos. There are discussions as to whether the clan could mere with the local shifter clan, The Mata, to create a stronger force against their mutual enemy. Stefan is against this as he personal problems from many years ago involving the Mata, but Dominicus decides this will go ahead and he sends Sasha along with Toa to a secret location to meet with the Meta's and discuss terms (their attempt at trying make her into a leader worthy of being Stefan's true mate) but also to get one to one magical tuition from Toa. However there is a mole in Stefan's clan who knows where they are and helps the enemy make an attack on the camp with the view to kidnapping Sasha once again. How this battle ends, and how Sasha does actually know Dominicus is very interesting and you need to read this brilliant book to find out. Well her I go, onto book 4
welp... Its not better. The series about magic wielding almost vampires has boiled down to fights where people stare violently at each other while describing magic happening. Thrilling. Romance is dull, the characters inconsistent, Sasha is nearly insufferable. The only saving grace is we don't spend that much time with her so we don't have to listen to her whine about how she doesn't fit in anywhere despite having the most powerful kind of magic, the hottest/richest/most powerful boyfriend ever, and the alpha of a wereclan interested in her.
Honestly the most interesting part were the were creatures because at least they're fun and interesting and have personalities. Like, there's obviously going to be some tension/a poly dynamic (I doubt that'll bloom considering how tame the rest of this stuff is) with Tim (terrible name) and he seems cool as hell. I'm kind of rooting for him, he has a personality and does stuff, not just overtly threatening everyone (All the threats are clumsy as hell and make the people look stupid in my opinion)
Side bar, I didn't realize that Josiah and Jonas were two different characters until I started book 4 and Jonas came back. I genuinely was like "oh, ok, so this is playing out his threat from the first book about having things in the works" and I just thought he was putting on a nice guy act to get her comfortable. That's how bland the characters are and/or how disjointed this story is.
I got the audiobook four pack from hoopla so I've already started book 4 but if something mind blowing doesn't happen I can't see continuing on. There's just... Nothing gripping.
This entire series is great! Stephan and Sasha have amazing chemistry. Charles and Jonas have a special spot in my soul. Don't even get me going on all the other side characters.
This series has a dark romance aspect to a point. However what paranormal/supernatural series doesn't.
The main part of the series follows Stephan and Sasha's meeting and initial 'relationship' (you'll understand the quotes when you read it) in the first book, and as the books progress it gets deeper... There are battles, dark forces, magic learned, life or death situations. Plenty of action, adventure, heartache and of course... SPICE. I won't rate spice because everyone sees it differently. There's stalking behavior, kidnap-ish behavior, and definitely touch her and die feels as well. By the end of Sasha and Stephan's books in the series I was BEGGGGGGGGGGINNNG for Charles and Jonas, let me say, NONE of these books disappointed me. The only issue I think I had was with time jumping. That being said, it makes sense now with how many books there ended up being.
If it says ANYTHING to anyone, I read these in 2014 and am just doing the review 10 years later and can still remember them... Every.. last... one of them. They were so captivating, I devoured 1 a day until I finished them all.
This is my second reading of the series, my first was back in the days when I'd never even heard of Goodreads. That was long enough ago that I'm rediscovering all the fun, mayhem and frolics to be found in this fast-paced and entertaining series.
Whilst there are things I might wish to be done a little differently, that would only be so that it perfectly aligned with my tastes and preferences. I still love Sasha and Charles (who isn't the love interest but who IS a huge part of what makes this series so good) and I finally felt like we started to see the real Stefan too. The author seems to write strong females who are riddled with self-doubt. However, she does it in a way that instantly enamours you to them and has you 100% on their side. Her heroes are self-possessed alpha males who are strong, determined and fearless. Well, fearless unless the heroine is somehow threatened.
I love that the author crafts a genuine, believable relationship between the protagonists. Whilst there is on-page sex, and what scorching hot scenes they are, that isn't the entirety of their connection. There is communication, trust and respect shown, as well as love, passion and caring.
I'm already halfway through book #4, and I only started it last night!
