She was the last woman on Earth and becomes his entire world.
Miranda is determined to survive.
Being the only human left alive after Earth’s apocalypse was horrible enough, but fate just had to add being chased off a cliff by rabid dogs to the mix.
Miranda expects the fall to be the end of her. Instead, she opens her eyes to find paradise.
Paradise and a very green, inhuman male with a muscular body plucked right out of her fantasies. She’s as desperate to get close to him as he is desperate to get away. He’s her only guide to this new world called Faeda and she’s going to use every trick and treat available to keep him at her side.
Govek is determined to escape.
After being rejected by his fellow orcs, Govek of the Rove Wood Clan leaves his brethren to join the ongoing war.
And then a woman falls out of the sky before his eyes.
Resolving not to be waylaid, Govek ignores his instinctual drive to keep her and tries to leave her behind, but Miranda’s constant babble and open heart soothes Govek’s past hurts. Abandoning her is impossible, and the mysteries of how she came to his world are too curious to ignore.
Their attraction mounts as they battle the dangerous woods of Faeda, and Govek is inevitably forced to choose between the kin who betrayed him, and the woman he is growing to love.
------
This is the first of three books following Miranda and Govek's story. No breakup but it does end on a cliffhanger.
Miranda (h), the last human survivor of Earth's apocalypse, finds herself in the magical world of Faeda after jumping off a cliff to escape rabid dogs. Her unexpected fall leads her to Govek (H), an outcast orc who's been shunned by his clan for his violent tendencies. Initially, Govek intends to leave Miranda to her own devices, but her determination and open heart gradually break down his defenses. As they traverse the dangerous woods together, Govek reluctantly becomes her protector. Their bond grows as they face various threats, from wolves to mysterious creatures, and even the challenges within themselves. Govek's struggle with his place among his people mirrors Miranda's quest for a sense of belonging in this new world. With their lives intertwined, they begin to find solace in each other. However, the book ends on a cliffhanger...
I really enjoyed this book! I really loved the characters and their dynamic! Miranda is bubbly, chatty, and doing whatever she can to make the best of her unfortunate situation. Govek is tough and driven, but he’s insecure and has a soft side. Something about MMC’s who are tough on the outside but have a soft spot for the FMC I just EAT IT UP lol. The romance and banter was so cute and it had me giggling and smiling. The spice was good and I felt like there was a good balance between spicy scenes and other plot.
I will say this book took a little bit to get into it, but once I did (maybe about 20% in) I was completely sucked in. I also don’t prefer third person POV but that’s just a personal thing.
I received this book for free as an advanced reader copy (my first one!) and I’m leaving this review voluntarily (& completely honestly!)
The Orc Outcast's Conquest is book one of the Orc Mates of Faeda series by Aurora Winters. I'll admit that I chose to read the book with equal parts curiosity and skepticism. Vampires, yes. Werewolves, yes. Trolls and dragons and elves, yes, yes, yes. But orcs were new for me. Throw in a post-apocalyptic world where the only human survivor is a woman, your average, every day woman with no special powers or skills (or does she), and what's left is an intriguing premise for a book. On that could go right or incredibly wrong. A third of the way through I stopped waiting for it to go wrong and settled to what was a very enjoyable read.
The two main characters are Miranda and Govek. Miranda is certain that she will find other humans after a catastrophic event destroys Earth. After days of traveling, reality sets in; she realizes that she is the lone human survivor. Although filled with survivors guilt, her instincts for self-preservation are intact as the rabid dogs, the only other living beings, chase her off a cliff and into Govek's world.
Govek has been shunned and shamed by his own people for most of his life. When events lead to him being an outcast in his village, he sets off to another village where he feels his skills would outweigh his failings. As he journeys, Miranda falls from. The sky as though she were a gift from heaven. What follows is the story of two survivors seeking to find their place in the world (and a smoldering romance).
The author did an excellent job with world building, giving us a sense of both worlds through the eyes and stories of both characters. Both main characters were interesting in their own right, and I enjoyed the fact that Mirznda was no shrinking violet but was her own self. She didn't ever stop being anyone other than her simple, down to earth self. The banter between the two was fun and the read was simple and uncomplicated. A refreshing read. I'll be happy to read the resrof the series.
'Soon she would realize what he was and spurn him. He’d learned that lesson well from Yerina. It was inevitable. But until that moment, he would relish every touch she graced him with.'
I really enjoyed this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. This isn't the first book I've read of human women somehow going through a portal to end up in some fantasy/alien world, but this is the first that began with possibly the only survivor of an apocalyptic event. Running from a pack of monstrous dogs, Miranda falls off a cliff and right into another world.
I liked that some orcs in this world were born with magic. Govek seemed at war with his nature- the body and temperament of a warrior, but born with magic and lacking the slender build, serenity, and peacefulness that should have come with it. Govek is exactly the type of male I'm drawn to- insecure with himself and unable to see his worth and just needs the right partner to elevate him and show him how he can be loved and valued. I thought he and Miranda were really sweet together. Some of the banter between them cute. And I liked the way she didn't shy away from asking the questions she wanted to know- especially wit cultural differences so there weren't misassumptions or misunderstandings.
The only thing that bothered me (probably not even a pet peeve?) was when she would use the "curse" word 'frick.' It would throw me off because that was a curse I used to hear kids say when I was a teenager liked 25 years ago. So every time I read it (though it wasn't much- only 9 times), I would immediately lose focus to think, 'What are you, a teenager? Who says 'frick' anymore? Would a grown adult use that curse?' Especially since the other 4-letter f-word was used 145 times in the book. lol
This is the first book I've read by this author and I will definitely be continuing the series (cliffhanger warning!). 5 stars.
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Miranda and Govek since I picked up this book. Miranda is so relatable and her comments/reactions often made me giggle because I felt so seen. Like Miranda I get you girl LOL. Also Miranda went through SO MUCH and it was inspiring to see her fight for her survival and stand up for herself. And when she got caught up in the war in her mind (PTSD Rep.) I felt deeply for her. I was so grateful to Govek every time he noticed her struggling (We LOVE a man/Orc who pays attention) and then did his best to bring her back to reality and help ease her panic and fear.
Oh Govek… I fell for him so fast LOL. He was always so patient, gentle (unless told not to be hehe) supportive, reassuring, attentive, caring and kind to Miranda. He even had a sense of humor and his unexpected comebacks never failed to make me giggle. And the way he NEEDED to protect her and HAVE her had me WEAK.
I adore them both and love them together. They bring light into each other’s darkness and care so much for each other. Their banter had me smiling so big and giggling so much. And THE SPICE 🥵😍 I loved the way it was written. It was sweet AND spicy. You could feel the love in their desire for each other.
Ahhhh I am so happy I discovered this book. I am so excited to start the second one.
Also what I would give to be able to be carried and embraced by Govek. It must feel so loving and safe. A little piece of heaven.
LOVED these quotes🥹-
“Many injuries cannot be seen, only felt and experienced. That does not mean you are unworthy of care or owe apologies.”
“You are breathtaking, Miranda, and all I want in this world is to be allowed the pleasure of continuing to bask in you.”
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily <3
This was such an interesting read - there's a lot going on here: nuclear war, interspecies conflict, disease, magic - and the biggest magical question of all being how our FMC ended up in the blighted forest in the first place. The book finishes with lots of questions left unanswered - I'm glad the next book is coming so soon as I really want to understand what's going on.
I liked the way FMC Miranda's trauma was dealt with - she's a fighter, who wants to survive and cling to the safety she sees in MMC Govek, but she's also definitely not OK, with panic attacks, anxiety and intrusive thoughts about what she's left behind. I'd definitely say this is one of those check the triggers moments - while the story is mostly a cute little romance walking through the woods there are some very heavy themes sprinkled throughout.
I struggled a bit with imagining how Govek was holding his jaw for much of the book - to the extent where I went online to see if the author had any before / after illustrations. It's not that the description wasn't clear, I just couldn't imagine how he was meant to look or talk with his face contorted like that. It didn't interrupt my enjoyment of the story, but I feel like it's something that may be relevant in later books once we're around other orcs so a more detailed description would have been helpful.
In all a really unique spin on alien orcs, with a couple I'm looking forward to reading more about!
I read an advance copy of this book. My thoughts are very much my own.
Tropes: 💚 Orc MMC x Human FMC 👉 Traveling in another world ☀️ Grumpy x Sunshine 👀 Involuntary imprint 🔗 Forced proximity 💔 Emotionally scarred MCs 👉 PTSD rep

~ STORY 📝 ~
Binged it in one go, began thinking I would read a few chapters before going to bed, and ended up finishing the book while hearing birds waking up outside. 🤣
MCs are so endearing with Miranda who's the very definition of sunshine but also has the most chaotic energy and Govek who just tries to understand what's going on with her most of the time. 😂
They both got shitty cards in life but they're healing each other 💗
Story is kinda quick paced, really entertaining, and ended in a cliffhanger. So definitely reading book 2 😂
Globally, if you want an orc easy-read, pick this one up 👍🏽
~ SPICE 🌶️ ~
If you're reading "The Orc Outcast's Conquest", you're in for:
🍃 Big tease FMC 🍃 Orc who tries really hard to rein himself 🍃 Size difference 🍃 Sexy bath time
Among other few things 😌

This is an arc review. Thanks Booksiren for the advanced ebook copy 🙏💖
It was such a great novel, probably the best debut I've ever read. Miranda was a sole survivor of a nuclear apocalypse on Earth. Well, there were also packs of mutated dogs. One of them chased her off of a cliff, and she fell into a world of Faeda. Where she was found by a grumpy orc Govek. He was shocked when he started imprinting on her as soon as he saw her, because a bond like that should take a long time to develop. At first he fought with himself to just leave her and go on his way, but he quickly realized that he couldn't do it. I was surprised that such a short novel managed to have interesting worldbuilding and two believable, 3-dimensional characters. Both Miranda and Govek had complex personalities, issues and wants that made them very likeable. Miranda suffered from PTSD and Govek was her anchor, his steady presence brought her back from her panic attacks, even though he didn't know what he was doing. He was a poorly socialized man (well, orc, but you know what I mean), touch starved, deeply insecure and ashamed of his character and looks, but he was doing his best to take care of Miranda, and it was heartwarming. I wished he communicated better, but with his fear of rejection I got it why he couldn't. Miranda seemed a little immature at times (saying both frick and heck from time to time, even though Govek cursed in front of her regularly), but I guess she did work with little kids, so maybe it was supposed to be self-censoring on her part ;)
Miranda's the last human on Earth. After her last hope at finding others is lost, she tumbles over a cliff only to wake up in a strange world. Govek is different from all the other orcs in his clan. He's not gentle, slender or regal. After being outcasted of his clan, his plan is to go to war for his kind. But his plans change drastically when a beautiful woman tumbles from the skies.
Govek and Miranda are just so sweet. Both have had traumatic experiences in their pasts. Miranda being the only survivor of the apocalypse. Govek always trying to fit in but never being able to. He has had to hide so much of himself over the years and Miranda is able to coax him out of his shell time and time again, by showing him, that he's enough and that she's not afraid of him. Govek is really gentle with Miranda, giving her time to open up, never prying, but helping her when she gets lost in her head. Add some hilariously funny misunderstandings because Miranda and Govek come from completely different worlds after all and a pinch of fantastic spice and you can guess how much I liked this book. Book one in the "Orc Mates of Faeda"-Series ends on a cliffhanger, but the wait for book two isn't too long, thankfully 😅 I'm really looking forward to reading more about the orcs and humans of Faeda and I'm curious how Miranda's and Govek's story will continue.
This book is a debut novel from Aurora Winters, the first in a trilogy, and it is INCREDIBLE! I was sucked into this story from the very beginning and didn't want to put it down!
The trilogy follows one couple, so the book ends on a cliffhanger. However, you won't have to wait long as each book will be released within a month of each other (June, July, August).
This is a slow burn romance with some spice, so you will have to wait towards the end to get your smutty fix, but trust me - it's worth it! The plot is fantastic. It's gripping, funny, has great world building, and has left me absolutely salivating for the next instalment! The characters are written beautifully as well: The human FMC survived an apocalypse on Earth before magically landing in another world. She not only has to come to terms with everything that's happened to her but her new reality as well. The Orc MMC has been through a lot himself - grief, emotional abuse, self-esteem issues, and suddenly finds a human falling out of the sky, straight into his path and ruining his plans. Despite being grumpy, he ends up being a total cinnamon roll who dotes on the FMC. He even cuts and washes her hair!
Honestly, I loved this book and can't recommend it enough. If you love monster romance, slow burn, and an incredible plot, get this book!
I really enjoyed this. It was a very interesting take on a post-apocalytic world on Earth and Miranda is the only survivor, that someone gets dropped into another world where Orcs and other mythical beings exist with other humans. There she meets Govek, who feels an instant connection with her because they are fated mates.
Miranda is determined to survive (even after her intense flashbacks of what happened on Earth), whereas Govek essentially wants to go to war. But somehow, they stay together and that attraction between them grows and grows and eventually, they give in and it's spicy 🥵
"He wasn't human, not at all, but dang, he was gorgeous."
Govek is so concerned that she doesn't want him for who he is and is so so careful to not do anything that could scare Miranda away but Miranda proves to him over and over, that nothing he does will do that and she is determined to stay and it's the sweetest and most beautiful thing to see how vulnerable he is when is comes to touch and love.
This ended on a major cliffhanger because what?! That ending was so intense and I cannot wait to start book 2 to see where Miranda and Govek end up because I desperately need to know!
"You are breathtaking, Miranda, and all I want in this world is to be allowed the pleasure of continuing to bask in you." 😍
New author for me, I loved this really well written and beautifully detailed story. The orc character of grovek was so strong yet so vulnerable sensitive alone and despaired of ever fitting in like so many ppl feel. it was a beautiful mixture of self awareness, longing to belong, feeling worthless yet always striving to conform to the standard of the clan while humble and caring being the only hunter of big game.
Miranda is the lone survivor so far of an apocalypse yet doesn't give up trying to find others in a world now beyond devastation. Then suddenly falls into a new realm to find a world she doesn't understand face to face with a green giant alien . Yet treats him with kindness respect care and concern looking past his outer shell to the person inside.
Both characters are uniquely strong in facing adversity yet compliment each other in a way that bonds them together.
The only reason this isn't 5 stars is I absolutely hate cliffhangers.
For a first book I think this author did a fabulous job of blending two different worlds into a wonderful intriguing plot that really holds your interest.
Can't wait to read the next book. I received an arc copy from book sirens and this is my honest voluntary review.
Govek and Miranda were the cutest! The author did such a great job with this grumpy x sunshine duo!
What I liked:
The author had a distinct writing style. Very whimsical, and the dialogue was quirky and fun.
The characters were awesome! Miranda was so sweet and kind, and our hero had never had that before. Seeing the way they communicated and appreciated each other was heartwarming.
A unique world and great background on our characters. They felt so real and fleshed out. Lots of substance to them and the world they find themselves in. It’s been a while since I’ve seen this in a monster romance.
What I didn’t like:
Honestly I didn’t have a problem with anything. That cliffhanger has me a little nervous for them though!
A great setup for future books. I’m very excited to dive into the rest of the series and see how Govek and Miranda’s relationship develops with the obstacles they have ahead of them.
Part of the Orc Mates Of Faeda series each can be read as a standalone or the series with monsters with beautiful hearts. Miranda is the last human in search of others on earth she has hope until arriving to find there isn’t any other humans distrust not watching where she is going falls over a cliff and wakes up in another world a strange world. Govek is a sexy orc but different from those in his clan, he isn’t a gentle, he isn’t slender, he isn’t regal so the others in his clan kicked him out, his plan is to go to war for all his kind until a beautiful woman drops from the skies then is mission changes somewhat. The pull between these two is something different both come from terrible past yet having survived and together they are stronger. They sort of heal one another she allows him to be himself without having to hide himself and he allows her to heal knowing what she has been through helps her no overthink everything or miss so much of what has been lost they complement one another but where are they headed? (I HATE CLIFFHANGERS ….NOT SURE WHY THEY LEAVE US HANGING LIKE THIS)!
I totally enjoyed reading this first part of a touchily romance story about Miranda our human and Govek our Orc who were great characters to root for. Miranda is the last human survivor in the area on the devastated Earth after a nuclear bomb, only rabid feral dogs survived. After trekking for days on the decimated land hoping to meet the ocean to find survivors, she meets a pack of dogs which chase her off the cliffs. She lands on a pile of leaves in front of Govek in Faeda's forest. Govek because of his uncontrol temper and magic has been outcaste from his tribe. Govek is heading through the forest into war against the Waking Order (Humans) who blame the Blight on them. Then Miranda falls from the sky. What occurs is an engaging story as Miranda suffers from her ordeals and Govek suffers from being rejected by the tribe and the conquest women he courted. When he finds himself imprinted on Miranda, he's worried that without any boon how can he win her? How can he show her without scaring her away? I volunteer to read and review this copy I'd received and volunteer to review.
🔸️ Interesting monster story settled between post apocaliptic Earth and magical universe.
🔸️ I liked the pair of MC's. She is a survivor, doing her best to adopt to new circumstances while fighting PTSD. MMC is an outcast orc, unnacepted by his clan, he sees himself unworthy of any positive attention.
A sunshine /grumpy pair.
🔸️ The romance goes from slow burn, to mutual fascination (with fear of rejection) to finally reach cute and tender steam. ❤️ The transitions between every phase are smooth and sweet.
🔸️ The story has good world building, some background political intrigue and interesting magic system.
🔸️ Well written, positively executed, fun to read.
Well deserved 5 stars for debut in monster romance.

I greatly enjoyed this story. It was surprisingly sad and tense in the beginning and things aren't the easiest for Miranda or Govek from the get-go. They clash and his desire to join the war his kind is fighting isn't making things any easier. But slowly these two grow closer and closer as they spend more time together and start to understand one another better. The banter between our main couple was a highlight for me, it worked so well!
I liked the slow burn of it all and even though the end cliffhanger came as a total surprise, I'm very curious to see where this goes next. I felt the pace of the plot was good and the spice was on point. The world-building was done well and I grew even more curious about Faeda with every nugget we got from Govek.
Miranda and Govek are an unlikely duo, but I could help but enjoy their connection. She accidentally portals herself to his world after trying to escape a nuclear fallout on Earth, and he's just been banished from his clan for being different. They team up for protection on Miranda's part and the raging fated mate bond for Govek and wander around the woods for the whole story. Winter is coming fast, so they debate on where to hunker down and how to get the necessary resources. Of course, here's a growing tension between them that turns spicy mid-way through. Govek is used to being rejected, so Miranda loving on him definitely has him questioning everything. Meanwhile, he's the best guy she's ever known, so the affection is no chore for her. There's a decent cliffhanger, so I'm eager to see how book two resolved everything. Overall, this debut work gets a thumbs up from me!
This was a great book and I loved the main characters and good they were together. Miranda is the last human woman on Earth and just bearly surviving and getting by but when she is attacked and chased by a wild pack of dogs she runs for the cliffs thinking this is the day she dies and falls over the cliff only to be saved by a huge green male. Govek is an Orc from the Rove Wood Clan who has been rejected by his clan and is determined to fight in the war but when a female falls into his lap he isn’t sure what too do about her she is not in his plans and he doesn’t need mate to complicate his life but he is drawn to her none the less and as she is to him and so she wont let him leave her behind. Loved the banter between them it had me lol and it brings a smile to one's face. Great book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really liked "The Orc Outcast's Conquest." The story is about two characters who have both been through a lot of trauma in their lives. The book starts off slow but then picks up and gets really steamy at the end. I felt so bad for Govek because he doesn't think anyone could want him. The way Miranda helps him through his fears that she'll run away from him made me root for them. This book had all the good feels! I can't wait to see what happens next in the series.
I was very surprised that is a debut novel, this author is one to watch.
I got an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks to the author, Aurora Winters, for letting me read this book.
First I want to thank Booksirens, the author and publisher for the ARC of this book. I am floored this was a debut novel! This is my first ever Orc story but I have read other monster, alien romance stories and I am now hooked! I cannot wait for July for the next. Gorek and Miranda were absolutely perfect. This was the perfect fun story to read in between some f the heavier books I read. The writing was fantastic, way to follow story and the work building was good. Not overly complex so it didn’t take up to much of the story. I will be reading more by this author.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I received an advance review copy for free thanks to the author and BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. All opinions are my own!
This book was pretty much everything I expected, so in that respect it gets 5 stars. However, it feels very short and ends abruptly, and I don't know what the reason for that would be, but a longer story would definitely make it feel more complete.
For sensitive readers, this is a "fated mates" type book (some questions of consent inherently implied) with graphic sexuality and depictions of violence.
“He was losing his blasted mind over her. Nothing could have prepared him for this woman. He would never be able to let her go. He’d rip the world apart if she tried to leave him. The imprint blazed a brand on his soul.”
Slooooow Buuuurn! I think I have scars from the constant lingering burn of this book🥵
These two characters need to heal together and it’s a slow, real process. Aurora does an amazing job showing the nitty gritty of trauma and healing. I’m not even mad there’s no HEA. The plot was just too good. On to Book 2!
Miranda is the lone survivor of earths ending. She ends up falling off a cliff and right into a 💦Dream aka Orc outcast Govek. He is the perfect example of 🔥🔥ness. He has also been an outcast his whole life. He has finally had the last straw and leaves his home to go off and join his cousin in war. But things change when a human female lands in your path and wants to keep him. lol I mean who wouldn’t but with his poor treatment his whole life what she says and that she just wants him is beyond comprehension to him. Until she slowly makes him see she just wants to stay with him and only him.
I love orc romance books and Govek and Miranda's story did not disappoint. Govek and Miranda are wonderful characters. He is a cinnamon roll and she is so sweet. The world building is wonderful and compelling. The story is action-packed and suspenseful. The spice and romance are lovely. The story is unputdownable and I'm looking forward to reading what happens next for Miranda and Govek!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Took me only two chapters to get hooked! You get enough background story about the MCs but are left wanting to know more about their past. As always i find it frustrating when the characters dont communicate, but that is not a big part of this book.
When the MCs finally give in to each other the steam is steaming 🔥🔥🔥
The ending will leave you in a hurry to get the next book.
She is the last female left and when she is chased off a cliff she expects to die. She will find herself in a strange new world with him there, he is an orc and all he wants is to get away from her and back to the war. Can she win him over? Will he leave her? Will they become a couple? See how it will all go I received an advance copy from hidden gems and I want to review
Miranda is a survivor of post-apocalyptic Earth who stumbles, literally into Faeda and straight into Govek the outcast orc's path. It was a slow burn and did end on a cliffhanger (part 1 of a 3 part series). But both main characters were well written and felt real. I'm jumping right on the next one as soon as I can because I have to know what happens next!
I really enjoyed this book! Being the last human from earth and trust into a new world, Miranda took things far better than I imagine I could have. Miranda and Govek have good chemistry and for being such a big grump, Govek really has his little soft spot for Miranda and I just think it compliments his hard personality so well.
I am excited to see where book 2 goes, cuz that cliffhanger man 😆
