A Christian Romance with Twilight vibes--no vampires.
Alexa Ford was her church's sweetheart vocalist, with an angelic voice everybody adored. However, she lost faith in God and the bright girl she used to be as her father passed away from cancer.
One normal Sunday, after the service, Alexa caught a handsome stranger staring at her. From that first moment of locking eyes, she couldn't shake the feeling that there was something special about him. But when he disappeared without a trace, she thought she had lost her chance. That was, until she stumbled upon him in a bookstore, challenging her to a game of communicating without facing each other.
After the encounter, not only Alexa discovered she had a secret admirer, but a part of her old self had been resurrected.
Soon enough, followed by a so-called ‘ghost attack’ on her ex-friend who bullied her at school, Alexa acknowledges there's someone out there in the shadows, watching her, defending her, and protecting her.
It's not until the day she was pushed to the brink of ending her own life, after suffering blackmail from her sister's boyfriend, that she uncovered that mystery.
Her secret admirer was not an ordinary boy.
If you enjoyed "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer, you'll love this thrilling tale of romance and supernatural powers.
Karen Daliath is a Christian young adult who loves her Creator more than anything. She loved reading since she could remember whether they were stories or interesting news articles. Though growing up, fiction conquered her full attention, and she has now barely time for non-fiction.
Unlike most authors and her own sister, Karen wasn’t a fan of writing until the Covid-19 pandemic. She started her writing journey on Wattpad with fanfictions in 2020 and then made her debut on Amazon in 2022. Now, writing is the second-best, most beautiful part of Karen’s life she can’t live without.
Karen writes closed-door romances, both contemporary and fairytale, through which she hopes to share the love of her Christ. She lives with her younger sister (Katelyn Daliath, author of RED ROSE OF ORDELIA) and her parents. When she is not writing, she is lost in a book to escape reality, singing, having bookish talks with her sister, or helping her mom around the house with cooking and cleaning.
More of her beloved book babies are coming in the future, so make sure you follow Karen on Instagram @kjdaliathauthor
This was so cute and sweet yet intense and suspenseful as well! I had never heard of this author before, but I saw in my feed one of my Goodreads friends add it to her TBR and the second I saw the gorgeous cover and that it was a Christian paranormal I saved it then snapped up this baby as soon as it released. Like seriously I paid full price for the ebook and I NEVER do that, but it just kept calling to me so I listened to my gut, took the plunge, and I’m so glad I did because I loved it!
It’s compared to Twilight and as someone who read that book for the first time last year it very much is minus the vampires and creepy guy watching her sleep bit. Some of the story beats were very similar too but not in a plagiarizing way as this is totally its own story and waaayyyy better then Twilight, but still enough that if you like Twilight this is a great “close but not quite the same” read. It’s also super intense and my jaw nearly hit the floor more then once at the crazy plot twists and even when I DID guess something correctly the author would just blindside me somewhere else, lol!
Alexa is the perfect flawed yet likable heroine who I latched onto from page one in just how natural and real she is without being unlikeable or obnoxious. I also really like her close relationship with her sister, Cassie, who is a fantasy romance author which I loved, being a fellow fantasy author myself. Tristan is a perfect gentleman with a heart of gold hidden in his tortured soul, and my heart broke for him on numerous occasions, especially when he reveals how he got his powers. He’s not without his flaws though the biggest being he DOES “stalk” Alexa for a while and while in some cases it was good he was watching out for her (especially when she tried to commit suicide) it’s still problematic and is brought up and discussed multiple times between characters, so even though he does it it’s addressed in a healthy way to the point where I’m comfortable saying he and Alexa are a perfect, cute couple while pointing out that what he did is NOT a thing to emulate in real life.
The faith content is very natural and light until the very end, though the author did say there will be more faith themes in the next book. And while it does have the trope of “I hate God because He let someone I loved die” which I normally think is, A) overused, B) not well written, or C) annoying, this managed to not be any of those and with Alexa’s I appreciate that she only thought God didn’t care about HER anymore, not that He doesn’t exist which was a nice change. I also don’t agree with the author’s view that those who commit suicide go straight to Hell—that’s not in the Bible in any way, so we don’t know for sure, and I personally think that mystery is best left in God’s hands without putting words in His mouth, so to speak, on the subject.
I totally and completely ADORED this book even when it got a bit slow around the 60% mark—I didn’t care, it was so cute!—and I can’t wait for Book 2! If you love good, clean urban fantasy/paranormal romance that’s also Christian I highly recommend checking this little gem out! I know for sure I’ll be reading it again and good luck getting me to shut up about it, lol!

This was really creative, I liked the combination of YA drama, growing romance, and supernatural elements. It felt like a cross between Twilight and Maleficent, with the fairytale vibes, curses, paranormal abilities and YA love. This was a refreshing read, there was sweet communication, character growth, and swoony moments. While this is primarily a YA Christian/clean romance and paranormal adventure, it also tackled darker topics including loss, abandonment, blackmail, death, stalking, and attempted suicide. It was fun seeing Tristan's abilities, and how he defended Alexa from danger and as revenge. I also liked seeing how his obsession unfolds into revealing his true feelings and expressing himself. The story is crafted well and it kept me entertained and intrigued, especially with the ending. Looking forward to the next book and seeing where the story goes for Alexa and Tristan.
⚡"I stalked you because you became my obsession. Watching you and listening to you from the shadows became my entertainment' ⚡"I love you because you're the girl who flares my heart to life and pulled me out of my shell" ⚡"You came like an angel into my life, spreading light and hope, and pulling me out of my shell and my despair"
4.5⭐️ What a unique and extraordinary tale! I loved it from the first page. Mysterious swoonworthy mmc and shy, reluctant, sweet fmc. Chemistry and banter is top notch. Sweet and clean romance. I really loved it!
I absolutely absolutely loved this novel. You needed to see me grinning and squealing as I binge-read this book in one fell swoop on my bed. It was quite the company to keep me up all night while I finished up my school design project. I was completely immersed in the story because every character was absolutely relatable (well except Brandon, of course. I detest that guy).
I liked how the humane side of all the characters was clearly shown. There were inner turmoils they all had to wade through. I loved the bond between the sisters, Alexa and Cassie. And Tristan, oh Tristan has won my heart. Gosh, I wish I had my own lightning knight. I guess I do, since the Bible says we have guardian angels, only that we cannot see or fall in love with our guardians now, can we?
When I saw the promotions on Karen's Instagram account, one of the first things that drew me was the genre: I'm an absolute fan of Christian paranormal fiction—strictly does that feature angels and demons. PS: I don't, have never and hopefully will never read a book where the main character (portrayed as good( is a vampire. The closest I've ever come to that was Ted Dekker's "Emmanuel' Veins" I've never read or watched Twilight. Despite all this, Lightning Angel would be the first Christian paranormal romance I'll be reading that exceeded my expectations. There was only one paranormal being—Tristan— but even his powers were so well defined and explained that it all seemed so realistic.
Plus, I must really commend the cover design. When I shared the cover picture on my personal Whatsapp status, many people flooded my DM asking to read and I told them it's out for preorder on Amazon. Every element on the cover bore a great meaning and was quite attractive. Plus points for the fitting colour choice because purple is my favorite color too.
Kudos to the author. And please don't keep us waiting for too long. Make sure you begin writing the sequel immediately you see this, because I'm literally hanging by a thread over a cliff. Thanks so much for such a beautiful story, Karen. God bless you.
Thank you so much author for the eARC. I had so much fun reading this!
This book had the sweetest romance 😍 It truly gave twilight vibes but this is waay better than twilight.
It was refreshing to read a cute romance with unique powers that's not revolving around popular tropes (I love popular tropes! But this felt like a nice break)
I loved how they communicated. I loved the character's growth. I loved their banter. Everything was so sweet
Recommended if you want a book with Christian elements, simple and cute romance, and twilight vibes with no vampires but unique powers.
Lightning Angel was a fantastic paranormal Christian romance story. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, but in a good way. There were many creative twists and turns! I will be honest I intrigued by this book when I heard Lightning Angel was inspired by Twilight, but had no vampires. The book gave Vampire Diaries vibes as well. Tristian was so much better than Edward Cullen! He was a mysterious golden retriever MMC. I loved his whole story line and found it to be very captivating. He was very protective of Alexa. Alexa was a relatable character. With the abandonment of her mother and death of her father, she struggles with her faith. I love how she slowly opens up her heart to love. She is extremely loyal to her sister and friends. Furthermore, I loved the banter between Alexa and Tristian! The story had many great side characters that really enhanced the story. Like Cassie, I really loved the sister bond between her and Alexa! She was fiercely protective of her sister. The romance was clean with only kissing. I am eagerly waiting for the next book after reading the ending! If you love paranormal stories that have no spice, highly recommend Lightning Angel!
I volunteered to read an ARC copy of the book and all thoughts are my own.
I was lucky enough to receive a eARC copy from the author!

~ eARC BOOK REVIEW ~
Let me start by saying I haven’t read many Christian romance before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect . But this book didn’t disappoint.
I loved the characters, Alexa and Tristan had my heart, I loved the writing style, throw in the paranormal twist, the adorable love story and you have yourself a enjoyable story.
I’m super excited for book two, I can’t wait to see how Alexa’s and Tristan’s story ends.
If you finding yourself looking for a clean, cute Ya love story with a hint of paranormal then read lightning angel, you won’t regret it.
ARC Review ✨️ *Paranormal Clean Romance♡ This story has complete vampire diaries and twilight vibes but without the vampires. Instead, they have highly unique powers. I enjoyed reading this so much! It was a cute and fun story with some loveable characters. Alexa was my favorite! I loved how much her character developed throughout the book. I highly recommend reading if you love a fun, clean romance! I'm stoked for the second book!
This is a great YA romance book for sure I love how the author combines supernatural and Christianity it is definelty great for middle schoolers and up. The close family relationship between the sister is so sweet and the protective aura the Main Male Character has is adoring, definitely worth the read!
Tristan and Alexa will bring your twilight loving hearts out and take you on a wild ride of paranormal, found family, superpower magic with clean romance.
Karen Daliath hit the spot. Well done. Thank you for the opportunity to read this.
The book is as all those Karen has written top notch. The part which was lovely was where she said the 3 words he wanted to hear. Geez. Looking forward to the second part so patiently.💖💖💖💖
This is another case of "bookstagram made me do it" since someone shared a quote of this WIP and it was marketed as "Christian Twilight". As I said in my "currently reading" story, I have no regrets (mostly) since it has some elements from it, but it's not a fanfiction/copy of it. Lightning Angel is original in its MMC abilities/superpowers as well as his background (I did not expect Tristan's story to include all of that). This is my first time reading this author, and since this is a duology, it ends in a Happy For Now (HFN) situation, or better said, a cliffhanger. What I'm truly thankful for is that this book/duology does not include a love triangle, 🙌 but after that prologue, I truly missed having Tristan's POV in the story. However, it seems it'll be featured in the second part, so that's something to look forward to. As for Alexa (or Lex, Lexa, or Alexandra Ford, depending on who's talking) what first hooked me to her story was that she was relatable in her struggle with her faith and church life. As a Christian, it's so easy to fall into the way she was thinking and living her life at the beginning of the book (whether you've experienced something as hard as her or not), so I also knew that at some point the author would address this, I just didn't know it'd be kind of "out of the blue" or that it'd be towards the very end (last 10%). Don't get me wrong, she handled it beautifully, but I just thought it'd be more of the main part of the story. And along that line, I struggled with the middle third of it. While this book does a much better job than Twilight at talking about the stalking of the MMC, at times the doubts/questions felt too drawn out.
Overall, this book has a really nice and sweet cinnamon roll hero, a conflicted/ struggling yet fiercely loyal and bookish heroine, a clean/sweet romance (it's just kisses) with a thread of Christian faith (it depicts a spiritual battle in the mind of the FMC that leads to a suicide attempt), along with some really cool superpowers and a mystery surrounding the MMC. So, if you like/love/are intrigued by any of these elements or are just a fan of the author, go ahead and pick up your copy. ~ 3.75 stars rounded up to 4.
Content: FMC has lost her dad and is distanced from her mom due to her decision to leave her family to be with her lover.
I didn't know what say about your book at first, but as story went on I walk in love with your book and God grace and love in your book. The surprises and all.
Alexia and Cassie stop believing in God. Alexia believe God stop loving her and not there for her. God is there for her and she just don't believe it.
I hope Tristan and Alexia become friends and when she get older maybe become more. I like this story because not sexual.
As story keep going on I really like these book and I like the flow of the book. There are surprises in this book and parts make you upset and mad.
It is sad she want kill herself for her sister and the sister evil boyfriend.
I wanted cry because Alexa want give up her life to protect her sister. Her sister love her and i believes she wouldn't her sister to die.
I love how God *Holy Spirit * talking to her and I hope she doesn't listen to devil thoughts in her head.
God send Tristan to save her life
I really love this story as it goes on you have be careful of the person you trust.
I really like this book it goes even better as it goes on at first I didn't know what to say about book. I am glad I kept listening and reading the book it flow even better.
I am glad Tristan and Alexia became friends you will wait till happened.
I did get little confused when Tristan and Alexia went to police station and reported Brandon and when Cassie and Brandon in kitchen while Alexia making confession and when Brandon said he going to police station. Alexia said what she said. I thought the police was right on it. So if he went to police would he not went to prison.
I love how you talk about God but it sad she gave because her mom left them. God listen but different than she think.
I love how messenger came witness to Alexia love how she listen and telling his testimony
I love the to read 2nd book of this one
I love everything about book and how Tristan and Alexia grow in story how they was lost and didn't trust God. How betrayal come in with in sister family and boyfriend of sisters. You trust God through it all. How the sisters bond is like no others.
I hope in 2nd book it show progress as journey from not believing and doubting and falling away become show becoming Christian and start back believing
*Disclaimer: This is just my personal, honest opinion. I am one person. I do not speak for the masses; this book has lots of great reviews. It just maybe wasn't for me.
In the beginning, I liked the story quite a bit, but there were a lot of grammatical errors and other mistakes that distracted me from the plot and made it hard to read.
There were a few things in the plot that were very drastic that, for me, seemed like they were in the book just to advance the plot, but served no other purpose and took away from the realistic aspects of the book. Like the fact that Alexa tries to off herself (not a spoiler - it's in the first few chapters) and, while it's talked about, it's talked about lightly, like it's not THAT big of a deal, like she didn't have some sort of mental illness that caused her to jump to the conclusions that that's the best solution.
I did like that there were Twilight aspects and loved to see a little of Bella and Edward mixed in, but I don't think it gave overall Twilight vibes as the marketing promises. The mood and the overall tone is lighthearted like a romcom, but the themes presented are very dark and broody.
Things I LOVED: - their first kiss! All the swoon! - Dr. Knight. I wish there was even more of him. - the first time Alexa goes to Tristan's room and something (no spoilers, sorry) happens ⚡
Again, the book just wasn't for me, but others have loved it and you may too!
You just did not leave me in a cliffhanger 😭✋ Also apparently there is a book that takes places before it so if you want to read In chronological order , read that book first (which was what I was supposed to do but oh well..). It’s called “ The rescued runaway”.
Keep in mind this book contains : - A clean Romance - A suicidal attempt - Attempt in sexual assault - Cliff hanger ending
This book rendered me speechless! (It also kept me teary eyed in a lot of scenes ; okay maybe just a because I simply am an emotional person but still I don’t tear up with all of the books I read !!) This definitely exceeded my expectations for this book,I absolutely loved the plot of the book, the clean romance and just everything!! I really wanna read book 2 now, the suspense is killing mee.🥹
I wanted to love this book so much. I just couldn’t get past how fast Tristan said he loved Alexa. Everything happened to quickly. A big chunk of the book was about their feelings for each other, calling each other pet names, staring into each other’s eyes. I also couldn’t get past how much it resembled Vampire Diaries and Twilight. I felt like I was watching the movie or show all over again. It didn’t feel like its own book. I had to push myself through to finish it. Which I’m glad I did because the ending really caught my attention and I am excited to read the second book.
I absolutely loved this novel, fell in love with the characters too. It was so refreshing to read a young adult fantasy that wasn't about vampires and werewolves. I was invested from start to finish. Can't wait to continue this story with Tristan and Alexa. Kudos to the author. This was amazingly creative.
I read this book after reading the author's retelling of King Thrushbeard... an amazing read that I highly recommend. I was not a huge fan of this one, but it is probably because it was too YA for me and the characters come across as immature. I can see the similarities to Twilight, but the action is more internal struggles than external.
I never read Twilight, but I think it's funny how many references that were made to Twilight in the book. And then her calling him a fae, that was hilarious 😂. Anyway, I liked it. I will be reading the next one. There is no stopping me.
