After the EMPs #2

1000 Miles of Bad Road 2: After the EMPs

Rate this book
The drumbeat of chaos is getting louder.
Nowhere, no matter how remote, can escape the sound.

Joey heads east with his new friends, anxious to get far from the devastation in Denver and the rogue Americans who caused it. However, he is at a serious disadvantage in his escape. He is traveling the treeless high plains in a 50-year-old cherry-red Mustang that can be seen and heard from space, and the other side has access to surveillance aircraft, military tech, and a network of traitors...

A game of cat and mouse begins…

Far away, in Fort Myers, Florida, the unlikely teen trio of Kamino, Liam, and Garth try to wait out the EMP inside an abandoned high school. Unfortunately, the campus belongs to a group already staking out territory for the unfolding apocalypse.

And in New York City, Herb and Mildred must choose between staying on an island with a million hungry residents or making a run for it through one of the dark tunnels out of the city.

It is only the second day after the EMPs, but the people who launched them have been prepping for the chaos for a very long time. Can ordinary Americans organize and fight back against such evil before the country falls apart? And can they do it without smartphones, news broadcasts, or modern vehicles?

This is the second book in a new EMP collapse series set in EE Isherwood’s Neighborhood Watch universe. This series takes place at the same time, but in different parts of a fallen America. Read one, read the other, or, if you can’t get enough EMP thrills, read both!

E.E. Isherwood has been a storyteller for over 30 years. Initially the muse took the form of childish comic strips. As a teen it manifested itself under the guise of Dungeons and Dragons adventures. In college it culminated with a Master's thesis on Missouri geography—an extremely boring kind of story. Three decades and several careers later he realized that siren song never stopped, so he began to author books. A life-long enthusiast of apocalyptic fiction, writing about zombies was his passion. Future titles in science fiction and fantasy are in the hopper. He lives in the St. Louis, Missouri area, where his series of zombie books takes place.

24 TO 48 HOURS AFTER A EMP TERRORIST ATTACK THAT HAS DEVESTATED THE U.S. WHO CAN YOU TRUST?

1000 MILES OF BAD ROAD 2: AFTER THE EMPS by EE Isherwood is a very well written book which goes into what three groups of individuals in Colorado, Florida, and New York all of which are of different social and age groups from high school students, middle age adults, to seniors in their 80's all trying to survive the day. The only way survival is even possible is to band together to watch out for each other and to defend themselves from those who want to take advantage of the situation for their own benefits.

The characters are well defined and you'll find yourself cheering for Joey and Libby's little group, Kamino, Garth, and Liam, as well as Herb, Mildred, and Anna as they struggle to survive away from their homes and families.

As with all of E.E. Isherwood's works I have read so far, this book and series is packed with action, suspense, mind-blowing twists and turns that will hold your interest throughout.

I really have enjoyed reading this book and can't wait until the third book in this series is released. I hope you will find yourself enjoying this book also.

1000 Miles of Bad Road 2 is an action packed apocalyptic thriller with relatable main characters. The drama and tension pulls the reader in and doesn’t let go until the last page. I highly recommend it but, please be kind to yourself and read book 1 first to avoid confusion.

EE Isherwood keeps you engrossed in his books from 1st to last page.

Going cross country or attempting to when most vehicles don't work and figuring out that older cars and trucks will run helps some while others use them to steal, murder and take over food, weapons and whatever else they want only takes a couple days before chaos appears. Who is really to blame and how widespread is the damage and why?

Continues this series that is related to the Neighborhood Watch. A lot of the action is in the car and Joey took directions much longer than I would have from Reed who was uncertain about a lot where they were going. We continue to find out more about the crazy Reset people and the president's role in the disaster. I rather like Herb and Mildred. It would be so daunting to be elderly and trying to get home from New York to Florida. He still always tries to do the right thing but, what a struggle. I do look forward to book 3, though suspect more time in the car.

Enemy Number One

Nobody knew who there worst enemy was. The author held back and let us worry about him. Finally he revealed himself and kidnapped our main character. You'll be shocked who he is.

1000 Miles Of Bad Road 2 - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Fleeing from the Legion/cult, Joey and his two companions arrive in Denver, while teens Liam, Em, Kamino and Garth join up with pupils hiding at the High School that they hope will be a sanctuary.
It's danger from all sides as these engaging characters soon find, in named short chapters that keep the action-led storyline racing along at breath-taking speed.

1000 Miles of Bad Road 2

I’m waiting impatiently for book #3. I keep hoping Joey goes to Clownfish Cove instead of Chicago. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
