A pop star's scandal, a small-town escape, and a second chance that could change everything.
In Metropolis, Illinois, my escape from chaos holds more than just memories. Ruby Colton, my best friend's sister, had a crush on me for a long time. When I left six years ago, I didn't look back. I made my fortune singing on stages worldwide. But then, when scandal blew up in my face, I ended up back in the last place I ever thought. And guess who's my neighbor? Ruby Colton! She is a school teacher and writer. She's everything I'm not—steady, normal, and utterly off-limits. Now, we are neighbors, reigniting a spark I thought had died. The more I draw close to Ruby, some relentless enemies threaten to expose our fragile connection.
With careers on the line and secrets unraveling, can I convince Ruby to give us another chance? Or will the shadows of my past destroy the love I'm desperate to rekindle?

I have never read anything by Ava Sparrow before, OMG this was fantastic!! Kyle Ford had a crush on his best friends (Gabriel) sister Ruby. She also had a crush on me, she wrote it in her diary. Gabriel made me tell her I didn't like her, and she was crushed; but that was six years ago. Now I am a famous pop star, but I need to lay low; and I am back in my hometown. I find my new neighbor is Ruby, and of course she hates me. Can we work through our past? Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Sparrow!!
This small town romance with a big popstar and a old friend go for a second chance at love. I liked that they dealt with the paparazzi because that is a big thing dating a celebrity. This story takes a chance a big-time Romeo can become a monogamist, but Ruby is where his heart is. Good story and wonderful characters that make you want to laugh and cry. The manager is a great villain thinking he knows better than his popstar's wants and need. I haven't read a good celebrity romance in awhile. I'm glad I read this one.
This is a wonderful story about missed opportunities and second chances. The characters are very likable and easy to cheer on. Although one of the main characters is the titled "popstar", the foundation of the story is the romance between Ruby and Kyle. Therefore, there is limited dive into the music industry and fame. This is a charming romance with a little bit of spice.

Frustrating! Semi-enjoyable read but too many gaps/lack of information. Reader has to make too many links, assumptions to move plot. One example: Chapter 8 narrator Kyle Ruby calls for Kyle to pick her up because her car won't start Chapter 9 narrator Ruby she's grading papers. Gets harrassed by fellow teacher. To get away from him, she packs up and goes to car. Kyle saves the day. Characters were likeable except for Kyle's agent.
Her apartment smells like weed!!! WHO is smoking it?? In the hallway!! And then she realizes it is an old friend — and a pop star, Turns out he now owns the building!!! And that is the last thing she needs!! This is a great romance, full of unexpected happenings!!! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
Ava weaves a compelling story of second chances, misunderstandings, regrets, selfish and selfless people and love! Awesome storyteller! You won’t be disappointed!
