This story was beautifully written considering the heavy topic of alcoholism and was more than a hockey romance with the growth of both main characters Stella and Ethan. I adored the way they both accepted and supported each other and their chemistry was on point. This was a joy to read and even though it’s book two in the series I had no trouble following along as I hadn’t read the first one. I would highly recommend Scored On.

Stella and Ethan are everything!

These Commodore players are the best! You may think they’re tough hockey players, but once they meet the right one, they become mush!

Lots of action on and off of the ice. And the spice, well read it and find out for yourself!

Scored On is a steamy, enemies-to-lovers, opposites-attract, childhood bully, girl gets her hockey player romance. Ethan is a hunky hockey player with a drinking problem and a bad boy reputation. He has been traded to the Connecticut Commodores and really doesn't plan to change his image. Stella has been hired by the team's public relations to clean up his image. She comes from an affluent family that is stifling and controlling, always worried about their image. She has a secret life as a dominatrix as an outlet. She is determined to clean up Ethan's image and considers even fake dating him. But when these two realize who each other is, tempers flair. They went to the same private school and were enemies. Can she clean up his image? Can he change his ways? He secretly liked her in school, but more things were at play. How was her dad involved? This was a great story, not only about hockey but also addiction, recovery, love, and redemption. The chemistry was sizzling hot, and the ending was happy after a lot of drama. I loved it! Another great read from Skye!.

🏒Childhood rivals
🏒Enemies to lovers
🏒Forced proximity

Skye does it once again. If anyone knows how to write a hockey romance, it’s Skye. Just like book 1, I could not put this book down for the love of anything. I loved getting to see more of Audrey and Quinn. I was so happy that Stella was Ethan’s date to the team functions, fake or not. I LOOOVED that they had a childhood history…new favorite trope loading??? Maybe??? The nicknames were hilarious and so sweet…in the childhood rival way. And as per usual the spice was SPICING. But I REFUSE to believe Audrey didn’t know what she was doing.

First of all Stella is an absolute badass. But she’s one with an unused degree and no PR clients, so she obviously needs a job. What better way to make money fast and easy than being a dominatrix…right? She is our beloved Audrey’s best friend. So when Audrey gets a player who needs his reputation cleaned up and has a best friend who “works PR” well who better to hire than your best friend.

Stella and Ethan were childhood rivals for the year that they went to school together, but according to them they were each other’s bully. Stella’s new job is to fix Ethan’s reputation in the PR world as fast as possible. Ethan is a hockey player with a bit of a drinking problem. Then things take a turn for him and he is out of a home, so obviously the solution is to move in with Stella…right? Their chemistry is undeniable, so mix that with living together and spending so much time together, well…maybe there was more to being each other’s bully than either of them realized.

Can I just say I wanted to absolutely drop kick Stella’s father SO MANY times???

Completely unrelated but I can’t believe it took me this long to realize the person I pictured as Audrey is none other than the queen herself…Miss Blair Waldorf.

First I would like to thank the author for providing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the story of Ethan and Stella, childhood rivals, who work together to fix Ethan's reputation and role in the NHL. After Ethan is sent to the Connecticut Commodores as a last chance team, they connect him with his childhood rival turned PR genius Stella to coach him through improving his reputation. As they work together and Ethan backslides a little, Stella convinces him to confide in her and figure out the root of the problem and use that to build the plan going forward. After Ethan is kicked out of the house he was living in he moves in with Stella and they spend even more time together and the past frustration/annoyance with each other turns into something much hotter.

What I Loved:
- Stella, she has grown up with a big safety net but she wants to branch off away from her parents and finds something that makes her feel like the boss ass B she is
- History, Stella and Ethan had one year in school together when they were much younger and they were rivals and each other's "bullies" then you come to find out they gave each other so much crap cause they had crushes on each other
- Ethan, even though he has a bad reputation when it comes down to it he is a golden retriever for Stella and will support her in whatever she chooses as long as he can be by her side
- Team, Ethan joins the Commodores and I just love all of the members of that team cause they can be hard on him, supportive of him and really be there when he needs them the most and have his back
- Spicy, when they do get together it is HOT and the slower burn is well worth the wait
- Nicknames, as they have that history their nicknames for each other just made me giggle since they are typical nicknames for kids of the age they met

If you are looking for a hockey romance with childhood rivals, forced proximity, unique jobs and a lot of good banter this is the book for you! If you like this one be sure to go back and read Scoreless, the first of the series.

Stella is not who everybody she knows thinks she is. She has a secret that would totally shock her parents and friends. She'd spent most of her life trying to make something off herself without her father's influence or help. The trouble was she can never stand up to him, and the suitors her parents kept setting her up with were just carbon copies of her father. Then out of the blue her best friend asked for help altering the image of their new signing on the hockey team. Ethan loved hockey but for some reason he just wasn't gelling with any of the teams, this was probably his last chance this transfer had to work out for him. So he liked to party and yeah maybe to many pictures of him with different women and drunk wasn't really the best image, but he needed something. Then he met his new image consultant, really could it be her he'd not seen her since he was transferred from the private school they both attended. They were each others arch enemy, but secretly he'd always had a crush on her. Coming from totally different backgrounds they certainly didn't look good for each other. Can looks be deceiving or will the angst they had at school still tear them apart. If you like steamy hot stories this has it in abundance. I couldn't stop reading Stella's story really makes you think about how easily judged you can be without any thought about how you feel yourself. It's nice to see how she changes and finally learns she can be strong with everyone not just sometimes. I've really enjoyed reading this and hope there will be more in this series.

Book is a full length novel about love, friendships, addiction, recovery and hockey. Lots of hockey.
For a first time hockey writer, (at least I think it’s her first time) Skye has the game down pat. Many scenes are included that you just feel like you’re at the game!
Ethan Rivera, a skilled hockey player, has been traded more times than most players due to his reputation.
Of drinking..
When he’s traded to the Connecticut Commodores he is not even trying to clean up his image. Since he’s been labeled, he feels like he must live up to the name of an alcoholic. So the teams PR girl, Audrey, hires Stella to clean up his image. Which she’ll do whatever the cost. Even if it means dating him to prove he’s turned a corner.
That’s all fine and dandy for Ethan. Because his life has no hope. He’ll probably lose his career anyway.
Until he realizes who Stella is.
They had been enemies in grade school. Ethan was a “bully” according to Stella and Stella was a “meanie” per Ethan.
And things haven’t quite changed much.
When he randomly gets a spot to a hockey school far away, it’s like a dream come true for Ethan.
Stella is from an affluent family. Her parents never allowing Stella to forget how much they gave done for her.
Keeping dad’s name on the title of the family home that they had gifted to Stella upon her graduation from grad school is proof of that.
However Stella has some secrets of her own. Secrets she needs to keep hidden.
Will her first client become a liability? Or will he find out Stella’s secret employment and out her?
Will Ethan’s drinking land him in bigger trouble?
You’ll have to read to find out.

This was a steamy enemies to lovers sports romance.

I loved this story! The vulnerability each of the characters shows as they struggle to get their lives in order was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Stella Faron has an online PR company and secretly works as a dominatrix. She is Audrey's best friend and gets hired by her to clean up the image for the Commodores newest player. She and Ethan were adversaries in seventh grade. She comes from a wealthy background with a controlling father - he knows what is best for her.

Ethan Rivera is the new forward for the Connecticut Commodores. He has a reputation as a bad boy and loose cannon. He is an alcoholic. He lives for hockey and takes care of his large boisterous family.

Stella is determined to keep her relationship with Ethan strictly professional. Ethan promised to stop drinking and not get in any trouble because he needs to be a part of the team. She ends up being his plus one to several team functions as his fake date. Their relationship turns real and they catch feelings for each other. She finds out her father did some unscrupulous things to get Ethan away from her in school. Her mother keeps setting her up on blind dates with appropriate men her father approved of. She and her parents have a blow out when they find out about her relationship with Ethan. Meanwhile Ethan's playing improves drastically now that he isn't drinking as getting in trouble, the team accepts him. They get their HEA and they reconcile with her parents.

This book was a-dor-able! Our girl Stella is a living a double life. A PR gal but day and dominatrix by night! Asked by her best friend Audrey, Stella is stuck babysitting and fixing alcoholic Ethan Riveria. Fixing his PR is going to be a nightmare, but Stella is up to the job. As she and Ethan start working Ethan already messes up. Out drinking with another teammate gets him kicked out of, one of his teammates house. Stella having nowhere else for Ethan to go offers up her own house for him to stay in. Immediately lines are blurred, Ethan and Stella start hate-flirting at every chance. Pushing each other’s buttons, but always laughing at it in the end. Ethan’s character was such a great interpretation of a high-functioning alcoholic. The steps he had to get over to actually be able to play the game his loves was beautiful to read. I think he was able to give drinking away in exchange for his drunken love for Stella. I loved reading about them two so much. They were so stinking cute. Oh how I loved Stella’s character, for Stella to give over herself to Ethan after being a dominate lady for so long was lovely to see. She just needed someone go surrender to and feel safe doing it with. Skye McDonalds did a lovely job on this book! It’s a shorter book but it definitely had me sucked in, I sat all afternoon and finished the book!

Stella has been tasked with reforming the reputation of Ethan, who is the newest acquisition of the Commodores hockey team. Ethan is a very talented forward with demons against whom he’s losing the battle. He just so happens to have been Stella’s seventh grade nemesis and secret crush.

When escorting Ethan to a few outings crosses the line into something more, the pair face obstacles and pressures both internal and external. Oh and there’s the little matter of Stella’s secret side hustle. How will this all play out?

Once again, Skye McDonald has sensitively and compassionately written three dimensional characters that are compelling and complex, with touches of humor and a lot of heat. The chemistry between Stella and Ethan was off the charts, and I personally loved the way Ethan was so accepting of the existence and doings of Stella’s alter ego. Ms McDonald truly made some inspired choices.

I loved this book even more than Audrey and Quinn’s story in Scoreless, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I was fortunate to have received an advance reader copy from the author and bookfunnel, and I’m very pleased to share my honest review.

Ethan and Stella - oh how I loved your story. You are both strong willed, stubborn and so in love with one another it made my heart ache. They also made me laugh and maybe once I might have gotten a tear in my eye.

I admire Ethan's strength to make a conscious decision each and every day to keep to his sobriety. That action alone truly makes him a hero in my eyes. I wish my ex had had his strength to have done the same.

I also admire Stella's strength for finally using her inner dom personality to stand up to her father and tell him how she wanted to live her life. Kudos to her and for the results it yielded.

I loved the epilogue and how Ethan and Stella shared their happy ending moment with an entire stadium. It was a perfect ending for these two lovebirds.

I'm hoping for more stories in this series as I'm not ready to leave this team of hockey playing men, with hearts of gold for their ladies, behind yet.

Fast paced and charm that makes me scowl then grin. I love a book with good banter but what Ethan and Stella have is downright nostalgic. Stella comes from money and she’s fairly aware of her privilege and made so many decisions to make her own way and I admire and respect her for that. Was also pleasantly surprised to find out that she has some curves to her and while others saw that as a detriment, she instead didn’t for the most part. Ethan is so relatable on a lot of fronts and I can only imagine the bullying he had as a scholarship kid in a world of of posh English last names. But he has such a positive outlook and wanted to do and be someone better for himself and not just for Stella. They were able to talk and actually discuss in a more direct way which helped considering how long the book is. There were times I forgot about the fake dating trope as it was really more for the outside world because anyone inside saw it for what it was and that spoke so much about the team and Ethan really getting to gel.

4.5* - Rounded up to 5...

Ethan has a superbly bad boy reputation, and with the future of his hockey career on the line if he can't get his act in line. So his team PR Manager hires an image consultant for him - Stella.

Stella is not all she appears. Image Consultant by day, and quite something else by night. And she fears that the two parts of her life can never truly gel.

But as Stella works with Ethan, to help him gel with his team, they find that they too gel, and as they reacquaint themselves (having been bullies of each other in the 7th grade) they find that as much as they are different, they are completely complementary.

A thrilling journey of discovery and self-acceptance. Of courage, growth and love. I love how Skye McDonald was able to address the difficult topics she does in this book, and put them across in such a positive, self-affirming way.

the fact the series has Connecticut in it had me at a go. CT is a special to me currently!
FMC has a secret job. MMC has a secret that can tarnish both his career and life.
Are they, aren’t they??
Banter that has you smiling and rooting for them.
Oh the grit of dealing with one’s self destructive behavior is health throughout the book. Whether you’re an alcoholic or binge drinker this books MMC situations and feelings will hit home.
Never thought I’d be into a hockey drama romance
Did I mention the flirtation banter makes you smile!
The anticipation between the characters and the situation of the characters is well built.
Even if you don’t know anything about hockey, which I didn’t going into this book, you’ll be sucked in the games atmosphere and their world.
Spice 🌶️🌶️
I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I recommend it to anyone starting out in contemporary romance.

📚✨ Book Review ✨📚

I just finished Scored On by Skye McDonald and absolutely loved Stella and Ethan’s story 🏒💙 Their banter had me laughing out loud so many times especially with the history of them picking on each other back in school. That childhood rivalry made their chemistry even more fun and their romance so much sweeter.

One thing I really loved was how, when Ethan realized he had a drinking problem, he made the choice to stop completely and he never let anyone bring him down for it. That strength and determination made me admire his character even more.

Watching their playful teasing grow into something deeper gave me all the feels. It’s the perfect reminder that sometimes the best love stories start with a little rivalry 😉 This book had the perfect mix of heat, heart, and humor, and I couldn’t put it down!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5

I can't figure out the confusing 'plot'. These two have a backstory of middle school bullying, so I expected some 'hate'. Ethan is an interesting character. Stella's secret business is odd, not because of what she does but how the author identifies it and then doesn't really go there. I just don't feel a connection between them or why she now thinks he is hot. Was that after he puked in her shrubs? Plus, I really hate meddlesome parents and daughters who don't tell them to F-off. Imagine your mother arranging your dates for you. For some reason, Stella moves Ethan into the big empty mansion in which she lives and runs her secret side business. That makes no sense. While he's out, she sneaks around in his room. They flirt via text messages. Disappointing but I don't care what happens. DNF at 30%.

Scored On is an amazing follow up to Scoreless. I’m so excited to see Stella again, this time in the starring role! I wasn’t sure what to make of Ethan at first, but his character was fleshed out well as the story progressed. The couple has great chemistry and it was fun to see them grow together.

It was great catching glimpses of Audrey and Quinn post-their story as well as my other favorite background characters. I hope the series continues showcasing all the great characters we’ve met.

**Scored On does deal with some heavier and more mature topics than Scoreless - chiefly alcoholism - which can be distressing. Please take care of yourselves and skip this story if that might be upsetting for you. Skye McDonald has many other great stories that you could try instead. :)

Scored On by Skye McDonald is the perfect book for hockey romance fans. It's fun and romantic but it also has some heavy topics that make for a great story.

Ethan is the hockey bad boy who needs to battle his own demons. Stella is hired to settle those demons. I like that the two had history together before coming back to each other's lives. Both have issues that prevents them from being their true selves. Their road to their independence also paves the way to their relationship.

I love that Skye uses her hockey knowledge to be able to depict the hockey game scenes. I'm not well versed in hockey, but reading it through her stories makes me want to actually watch some games. It's pretty exciting.

Scored on is the first book I've read by Skye McDonald because of the intriguing storyline involving a dominatrix and bad boy hockey player and I loved it! The story was well written and I found the characters to be very endearing and relatable. You will adore both Ethan and Stella and be cheering from behind the plexiglass as their relationship heats up on the ice!

I was able to read this as a standalone story and excited to start at the first book along with the other stories, so I can follow the characters and hockey team who were also featured in this story.

I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

cute, fun with some spice

This was cute. I had been eager to read more of this series after having so much fun with Audrey and Quinn. Ethan wasn’t nearly as interesting of a character and Stella was a bit flat. But their childhood enemies to adult lovers was feisty and cute. And the handling of Ethan’s sobriety was done with taste and maturity. Quinn still steals the show, from his assertion that Ethan’s bad luck could be contagious to getting lost in his own head over Christmas plans with Audrey…. Sorry, Ethan. Goalies.

Scored On: A Hockey Romance by Skye McDonald is a great addition to the Connecticut Commodores Series. This Book 2 is a steamy, opposites-attract, hockey romance that is engaging and well written. Stella and Ethan are childhood rivals who become a dynamic couple that evolve throughout the story. I love the strength and grit of Stella and her continued friendship with Audrey (from book 1, Scoreless). Scored On is full of life, emotions, steam, romance, family, and friendships and is worth the read.

From high school rivals to friends?
Stella is assigned to PR for the Commodores new player.Ethan is a big partier and he comes to the city with a DUI.
How he deals with his drinking problem is smart. It might not be enough for everyone but it worked for him.
Stella is assigned plus one to events he has to attend, to help him stay sober.
They spark off each other.
Her Dad is so controlling and a snob.
Stella is hiding an interesting secret from everyone. Go girl.
Stella realizes a certain hockey player looks hot playing hockey and fuels her imagination. She has to take back what she said about hockey players to Audrey.
I love the ending, that was perfect.
