Shalom.

It’s nice that they have Hebrew short stories to help learners grasp the basics besides the usual vocabulary and grammar learning that usually form part of the learning when taking on a new language. Throughout history Hebrew is important because it is the language of the Bible and ancient Jewish history.
A language written from right to left, a first glance makes this look difficult, and perhaps unassailable. Each chapter ending has a set of questions that relate to the previous stuff.
The stuff of language is examined in the next few chapters - syllables, nouns, adjectives, verbs, Dagesh and Shiva, singular and plural or dual, masculine and feminine. Sentence structure. Tenses.
Numerals are looked at too. Pronouns follow; then prepositions. Conjunctions follow. Hebrew verbs follow that.
We come to greetings. Shalom is a word I already know. Having visited Israel it is a word I’ve witnessed in use.
Those who set out to master Hebrew perhaps need to have faith in Shekinah, and an outlook like Eli.
I think this is a useful book probably best used with a pen and paper because to the untrained Hebrew eye the language looks a little like double Dutch, if you’ll pardon the pun.

a great guide for beginners wanting to learn Hebrew

I’ve studied several other languages as a native English speaker including Spanish and Portuguese. I became fully fluent in Spanish and moderately so in Portuguese. I’ve studied several other languages as well including Hebrew, German, and some Mandarin Chinese.

This is one of the best introductions to Hebrew I have come across in my studies.

I really enjoy how the book includes different exercises after each chapter, a phrasebook, and even some short stories.

I have a long way to go before I would consider myself to be fluent but this is a great start.

Excellent Study book!

This book makes it easier to learn Hebrew. From the alphabet characters, to useful phrases for daily life and for travel to use in restaurants, transportation, etc… It includes quite a few short stories to show how to recognize the words are written with English translation so you can learn to write it in the correct style. Very useful to learn not just speaking but writing the language. Great job!

Perfect resourcee

This book would have been an excellent resource when I was in Hebrew school. Well laid out and paced. My only suggestion would be to buy the paperback; the Kindle copy will be very limiting to use with the tests and quick referencing. :)

A good start

I always wanted to learn Hebrew and this book is a good guide for beginners like me. The book gives a nice overview of the basic principles of the language. I particularly enjoyed the quiz questions at the end of the chapters, and the stories as well.

A great companion to Bible study and an excellent aid to understanding, and learning, the Hebrew language!

I purchased this book as a companion to my bible study as sometimes I like to delve into the Hebrew to add context and clarity. The book is nicely and logically laid out. It contains lots of helpful exercises to help reenforce learning for those studying more seriously than me. It’s given me a greater insight into the Hebrew language including learning new applications of words such as ’Shalom’ in daily life. Id happily recommend this book to anyone wishing to study Hebrew.

Good information!

Excellent grammar information and helpful travel phrases. I would say, however, that this book is not for beginners, unless you are a linguist or grammarian.
