WHETHER THEY'RE JUMPING barrels, zipping along the highway on a road trip, or tearing up the motocross track, motorcycles are the coolest things on two wheels! Choppers! authors Susan Goodman and Michael Doolittle show readers the many types of motorcycles there are, how they work, and some of the exciting jobs, competitions, and events that feature them. This actionpacked Step 3 reader is filled with vibrant color photographs!
Susan E. Goodman is the author of more than thirty nonfiction books for children, including How Do You Burp in Space?; See How They Run: Campaign Dreams, Election Schemes, and the Race to the White House; All in Just One Cookie, an ALA Notable Book; and On This Spot, a Washington Post Top Picture Book of the Year. She lives in Boston, Massachusetts.
This book is an easy-to-read and informing piece all about motorcycles. The illustrations of the book are real diagrams and photographs of motorcycles. As I read Motorcycles!, I find that the author used good formed sentences and formatting for early readers. Goodman talks to the reader about speed, types, races, and parts of the motorcycle. In the classroom, this book would be a great exercise for breaking down sentences. I would recommend this book to any student needing to work on their sentence making skills or who are struggling with new words.
A book all about motorcycles - kinds of motorcycles as well as a bit of their history. The book is written at a "Step 3" level so great for younger kids.
Could be part of a text set on transportation for 2nd grade. Good for classroom library for 2nd through 5th grade.
