Fumetsu no Anata E / To Your Eternity
Even though her one-shot Koe no Katachi won critical acclaim, it took a longsome law suit to get a magazine to publish it because of its socio-critical theme. Eventually, it was featured in the February edition of Bessatsu Shounen Magazin, where it placed first, and later in the 12th edition of the 2013 Weekly Shounen Magazine.
She has also collaborated with UBUKATA Tow for the manga adaption of his novel Mardock Scramble.
Well, this is the least successful volume in the series, from the creepy Lolita cover to the water-treading story inside where the protagonist spends the whole book destroying and reconstructing every building in a city as he supposedly learns a lesson about trust. Everything is nonsensical or nearly unreadable until the last three pages. Here's hoping the next volume can build on the momentum of that cliffhanger.
The Renril arc begins! This is shaping up to lead to a huge climax. Loving all the new revelations, including that frankly shocking cliffhanger.
As a sidenote: For some reason the translator chose to use some honorifics halfway into the volume, after never using them in 10 whole volumes (unless I somehow glossed over them before). There was also a name spelled two different ways in the same chapter (Alma/Alme). Wonder if the translator or editor had a bad week during the production of this volume or what. Not a big deal whatsoever, just odd.
After training to extend his ability to create more complex structures and to feel through them Fushi is ready when Prince Bon and Kahaku return to see how he is doing on his task at hand. What they discover is an impressive display unlike anything either has ever seen before along with the fact that Fushi has been taking care of a young girl he calls Iddy (see cover.) With his talents improved and the threat of nokkers ever present since they warned of their plan to "help" by attacking Renril, the royal capital of Sonia, everyone is ready to do their parts to prepare for the threat. Part of this is Fushi learning the structures of the huge city and recreating it with his power so he can oretrate the attacks against the nokkers and be able to fight a large scale of them as best he can. However one cannot just walk into a royal capital and demand they be allowed to take over everything so trust must be established in addition to a task seemingly impossible that Fushi insists on completing no matter how tiring the task is in reality. Come meet all of the new people Fushi meets in this volume as well as the return of some familiar faces including one at the end of the volume that might be a surprise to Fushi if they meet. Who is that? I guess you'll have to read to find out. :)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
felt more like a filler volume for the next arc which again not too interested in (it's okay) but at least fushi's fear of everyone dying remains intact.
2,5 stars I still don't quite understand Icia's role, but perhaps she works as a radar. The past of the three new characters is told in a confusing way. Most of the volume bored me. With the last two chapters I regained interest. Now I am curious.
In order to prepare for the Nokker attack on Renril, Fushi must push his powers to new and unknown limits. Everyone, including a few new allies, works hard to get ready, but Fushi seems to be expending every ounce of energy he has.
How long will he be able to keep it up? And will he have enough strength left when the time comes to fight?
And will Fushi and his allies be able to get the people of Renril on their side before then?
This volume felt very intense. Fushi's exhaustion is such a tangible thing throughout that I felt quite worried a large part of the time.
His growing powers are also really interesting, though due to the fact that he kept splitting himself into different bodies, the transitions were sometimes a bit confusing, and I ended up reading a couple of passages twice to make sure the character I'd just witnessed was Fushi.
I liked getting a little more information on the mysterious black-cloaked figure.
and I understand why people keep getting in to fight over every little things on twitter because my right eye twitched from reading just few lines of people saying "this is the worst what is with the lolita" here on goodreads and I was like, "Hello, you forget March?" Oh yeah that felt like hundreds years ago since March Arc.
Anyway, yes I understand why people gave this bad review, I myself feel like this story is going nowhere since Hayase's rise from death.
People who say bad thing about characters in Naruto getting resurrected again and again will tear their hair out if they read this manga.
Haniwaay, I only have volume 11 left from manga bundle deal and I don't want to wait for years for the next volume.
And just like what members on discord said, "Forget you buy comic from m&c publisher" lol. JUST like I have to forget that the last volume of this manga they released was volume 6 and it was....last year? Before the pandemic for sure.
I just hope they don't go bankrupt before finishing My Hero Academia.
Things in Renril are heating up. Fushi is starting to use his new powers and struggling to win the town over while once again making more friends. Bon is clearly having a different goal in mind but damn, I love his mind.
Fushi, Bon, and Kahaku are reunited and they head to Renril to complete their preparations for the upcoming nokker attack.
Fushi gains three special new allies that help him gain the trust of the people, the army, and the royal family while Fushi wears himself ragged setting up his custom made network of monitoring, teleporting, attack and defense. Hold on to your butts cause things are about to get wild.
As always, I feel like this series is stuck between two styles. Time moves so fast and the narrative is so grand but it also wants you to develop meaningful relationships with characters very quickly. This volume definitely leans into that, with several backstories for new characters throughout. That said, I'm still curious to see where it will go and the storytelling is engaging.
disliked gushing in the beginning of the volume but am wondering if that was because he was putting on a front in order to save everyone or if it’s because he lost some key vessels? this volume mainly consisted of preparations for an impending attack on the city. very confused about march at the end??? and half-siblings. literally don’t piss me off
Here we followed the characters preparing for the grand battle. It was a good build up, I’m looking forward to it and the cliffhanger was goo too. Not a fan of the characters who came back to life, nonetheless let’s see how this turns out.
The story is getting very convoluted at this point and I’m finding it harder to sit down and read these books. It’s not that it’s bad at all, it just isn’t gripping me and there’s so much mad stuff going on now that it’s a bit hard to stay interested.
This is the first of three parts. Fushi and company are preparing to defend a city from a Nokker attack. There are some interesting moments in this volume, but there's a lot or prep for the upcoming battle and, quite frankly, it was a touch boring in places.
