EarthCent Auxiliaries #6

Royals on the Galactic Tunnel Network

Rate this book
The Ladies in Waiting are done waiting for Earth to get its governmental act together. A delegation that includes Georgia’s mother is on its way to the Vergallian homeworld to petition the Council of Queens to send princesses to rule Earth. Thanks to derivative treaties, the implications for the tunnel network reach far beyond humanity, and EarthCent Intelligence and the Galactic Free Press assign John and Ellen to keep an eye on things, with Semmi attending as guest royalty. Larry and Georgia can’t be far behind, and Myort is bound to show up anywhere there’s action.

I wrote Date Night on Union Station while taking a break from work on a science fiction epic I've been struggling with for years. The goal was to cheer myself up and to find out if there is still an audience for a science fiction comedy that gets its laughs from dialogue and funny situations rather than from gross-outs and shocks. As many readers have pointed out, the EarthCent series could be rated PG under the old fashioned system, no bloodshed, no graphic sex, no four letter words. And after years of imagining a galaxy for my epic in which multiple human civilizations are at war with each other, it did me a world of good to write about a galaxy where most people are just trying to make a living and find some joy in life. I received so many requests to extend the Date Night universe into a series that I put aside my epic for an extended period to write a sequel, Alien Night on Union Station. The events take place five years after the conclusion of Date Night, and the plot involves a mix of business, diplomacy, gaming and family relations. As a bonus, we finally get to meet Kelly's mother. After the positive response to Alien Night, I wrote a third book for the series, High Priest of Union Station, which is currently in the editing stage and due out in mid-October. I just started a book that extends the EarthCent galaxy with a different mission and cast of characters, though they may intersect at some point.

another great book

Interesting story, basically a group of women decide they want to import royalty to run their gov since their local govs are so bad. A lot of good discussion on styles of gov and it does make you think. I enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.

Complex

Number 437 in the series, collect them all. Start with the three bundle of Union station. This book is about humans trying to recruit alien princesses to run earth.

Excellent read. Unfortunately, I've gotten to the same point as when a season on the tele ends and leaves you salivating for the as yet unannounced new season to carry on the plot.

This and the accompanying off-shoot series have added depth to the Earthcent saga. In some ways, and with the aging of the lead characters of Ambassador McCallister et. al. and the looming retirement of EarthCent as subsumed by the new Earth Empire seem to embody a shift in the importance of the later spin-offs. However, the long days of EarthCent tales on Stryx stations are not vanishing. More and more, the locales of the growing "empire" make valued appearances, cross-linking the novel du jour.

Humans have never been good at governing themselves. We'd be much better off if we brought in outside help in the form of alien princesses trained in the art of empire management. The only trouble is, that might open more than a few cans of worms and there are lots of different kinds of people who would rather not see that happen. Thus some of our favorite characters once again find themselves caught in a web of politics, governance, vegetarian food, and a whole mess of spies, some of whom might even be friends! Lots of fun. Recommended for any fans of this or any of the related series.

Very Enjoyable

This one had a very satisfying ending. I’m like some of the others in this series that I read you didn’t leave me at the end of the feeling of OK why didn’t she finish it? This was a good tying up of loose ends, and it still had its funny moments.

Wish fun! Princesses are good to look at.

Can I get a Lady in waiting badge? To bad we can't do the same now here in the real world. Kamala Harris is not a princess. No Clinton wasn't either. These stories give me wild ideas.

I like the story line and the way 3 lines work together!

I hope that all 3 stories continue in the future or will you bring them together into a bigger universe of problems.
I hope Joe and Kelly live a long time and are part of the story!

Book 6 in the series

The Ladies in Waiting present their petition to the Council of Queens to bring Vergallian princesses to Earth to act as contract queens in local government. An interesting way to get honest and efficient government administration. A great story.
