We have all experienced some level of trauma in our lives. Trauma can come into our lives through many different and varied avenues. Trauma can be verbal, physical, mental or take many other forms. Sometimes we may be aware of the trauma in our past, and sometimes not. It is important to recognize the history of trauma so that we can begin the healing process.
This book offers two parts to help you navigate toward wholeness. You will find a gripping retold story of the parable of the Good Samaritan in a modern setting. The parable of the Good Samaritan has six main the victim, the bandits, a priest, a Levite, the innkeeper, and the Good Samaritan. We often only think about the victim and the good Samaritan, but we can learn much from each participant in the story. And as we think about each character, considering how we might relate to each one, we can grow and see that trauma touches all of us in a variety of ways.
This book will help you understand what trauma is, how to walk through it and action steps you can take today to move towards healing and wholeness. Jesus can still heal broken hearts, and there is a road you can take, hand-in-hand with Him, that will help you exchange ashes for beauty, mourning for laughter and how you can receive healing from heaven for the broken places in your life.
There are so many books you could read about healing from trauma. And yet, I have found one that not only provides information on this topic but also helps you see it played out in 2024. This book was very helpful.
The story focuses on The Parable of The Good Samaritan found in Luke 10:25 -35. They took a few verses, made it into a self-help book with thought-provoking questions and a heartfelt gripping fiction story, which was easy to read.
The questions were so comprehensive until after chapter four, I skipped them in order finish the book. I was not disappointed because the allegory brought everything to life. Very relatable. Gripping to the core of one’s beliefs. Makes you wonder which character you are in The Parable of The Good Samaritan.
I liked that they didn’t conclude the book with the allegory, but with an Epilogue which gave a practical way to help one on their road to wholeness.
It was my pleasure to receive a copy of the book before it's release date.
the Good Samaritan is a story many Christians are familiar with but the way the Bowling women analyze it brings a whole new depth and understanding to it. The first half of the book is such a good analytical look into trauma and the second half of the book fully pulls you into what the Samaritan story would be like in the modern day. I cannot rave about this book enough! It is insanely deep but you also come away with the simplest of truths - Love is what’s going to heal us all.
