What if the only way to heal your broken heart is to give it to someone else?
Sid thought he had sworn off love forever - until Alia, a mysterious woman from Jordan walked into his life, re-igniting his dormant passion. As their feelings deepen, the future seems uncertain. Between Alia's conservative father's disapproval of their relationship and Sid's unwavering dream of attending a prestigious B-school in the USA - the chasm widens, ultimately leading them to a breakup. But when an unprecedented tragedy occurs, Sid and Alia are compelled to test the waters of their relationship - just when they believed to have lost each other forever.
Will Sid and Alia rise above all the obstacles in their path? Or will life get the best of them?
This book is pure love. Every poem in it feels so personal and beautiful that you can’t help but feel all the emotions within you. And that diary—OMG! Seeing it made me want to start writing a diary too. I loved how the author portrayed their story using a diary format and poetry; I felt every single word in my heart.
Both Alia and Sid felt like real people, as if I knew them and had witnessed their story firsthand. I loved how they helped each other move on from their pasts and supported one another. At first, I was angry at Alia for not understanding Sid’s dreams and making him choose, but what she did later was AMAZING! I am so proud of her. However, I’m still mad at Sid—I get that he was nervous and lonely in a completely new place, but it didn’t sit well with me that he was on the verge of falling for Alexandria. How can you do that while claiming to love Alia at the same time??
That being said, I really liked Alexandria for not being the typical "other girl" who comes between them—she was so nice! But I still can’t get over that part of Sid’s story. Aside from that, I loved everything about this book. Their late-night talks on the rooftop were my favorite, and adding the magic of poetry to the story made it even more amazing.
I think this will be one of those books I remember forever. So if you love stories that feel real and raw with emotion and also enjoy poetry, then you NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!
You Belong With Me by Shuchi Batra isn't just a love story it's an emotional storm. Every word, every letter, every silence between Siddhartha and Alia hit me like waves. I've rarely come across something so raw, so vulnerable, and so devastatingly beautiful. It's a journey through heartbreak, healing, hope, and the kind of love that stays long after the last page. Shuchi's writing didn't just tell me a story - it made me feel it. Live it. This is easily one of the most soul-touching books I've ever read.
It's one of those rare books that doesn't just tell a story it tears you open and stitches you back together with poetry, pain, and truth. Siddhartha's journey through grief, longing, and love is hauntingly real. Every diary entry is a confession, every silence a scream. This isn't a story you move on from - it's the kind that lives under your skin. Whether you're a reader or not, this book will make you feel. And that's exactly why you need it.
I never like to rate a book this low! But it disappointed me... I hated the way the diary entries are written! So poorly plotted Even though the idea of the book was nice, it was not nailed as it deserved to be!
