Nadia and Anabella head down to Houston, Texas, for what they thought would be a relaxing vacation. Nadia could work on her travel news articles for her boss in Cedar Rapids while Anabella caught a few rays of sunshine. Or that was the plan. Little did they know what trouble lurked inside the luxurious hotel nestled in the center of downtown Houston.
When Carlisle Ali introduces Anabella to his friend and brother-in-arms, Carter Jackson, all hell breaks loose for the Mavericks. Trouble never has a problem finding Nadia when she is out and about looking for a story. Be it Cedar Rapids or Houston, it doesn’t matter. Nadia finds a way to cause chaos and disaster.
What happens when Mr. A and Mr. J go out on a hunt for the man who is terrorizing people along I-45, the interstate running through the heart of Houston? More importantly, what happens to Nadia and Mr. A when they are forced to face the feelings that have been boiling between them for over a year now?
Hello, and welcome to my Goodreads page! I am touched you have taken the time to visit me.
Here's a bit about me. My hubby and I have been married over a decade now. Our family has grown to include two perfect kids, two dogs who think they are humans and a cat who thinks he’s a dog, haha!
Writing has always been something that called to me, or rather being creative in one form or another.
I am so thankful to everyone (and there are a lot!) who has helped me along this journey. Each and everyone of you mean so much to me and I will never forget your love, support and help!
Maverick Touch is a story about a vacation that Nadia and her sister Annabella decided to take in Houston. Nadia is a reporter and wants to have a relaxing time but also do some work for an article she is writing. They are accompanied by Carlisle Ali, whom Nadia has known for about a year. He introduces Nadia and Annabella to a friend of his Carter and they all proceed to start the vacation with dining and sightseeing. Of course there is bound to be trouble for Nadia and it takes Carlisle and Carter both to protect the sisters from an evil lurking in Houston. There is a serial killer or killers on the loose and they do what they do best. See, these Carlisle and Carter are assassins but they only go after the people who happen to escape justice in a court of law. It is no secret to the sisters that this is what these men do, but it does not seem to bother either of them. This story was good, the plot at times a bit unbelievable. I think that the author crammed a lot into the 176 pages. I think things happened too quick and had the book been longer it may make the story line a bit more believable I did enjoy the book, however I think it may have been a bit more credible to me had I read the first book, Maverick Touch: The Cat. This is a story that has suspense, romance and a bit of humor and is a very quick read. If you have read other works by this author, I am sure you will enjoy this series.

My Review:
Maverick Touch: The Highway picks up where Maverick Touch: The Cat left off, albeit a year later. Nadia Maverick, her sister, Annabella, and the ever mysterious, Mr. A, are off to Houston for what is supposed to be a relaxing vacation. Note the word supposed. With Nadia, things rarely go as planned.
Mr. A introduces the ladies to a friend of his, Mr. J. If you read the first book, then yes, you guessed it; Mr. J is in the same business as Mr. A. There is an attraction between Mr. J and Nadia’s sister, so you have a small side story going also; which I love. I’m the type of reader who likes to know about the other characters as well as the main ones and Ms. Nemer delivers.
So how does Nadia’s vacation not go as planned you might ask? What else, but she finds a story that needs telling. Which of course leads her to the danger/mystery part of the story.
Maverick Touch: The Highway is a fast read like The Cat was. Also like the first book, there’s a good old fashioned mystery along with humor and believable characters. I enjoyed this book, but like the first one, I wanted more. Hey call me greedy. But like The Cat, The Highway leaves you knowing, hoping, that there will be another addition to the story. There just has to be. Right Ashley?
I'm still feeling cozy after this book. I love sweet, make you feel good, books with a bit of a thrill to them. The book opens up with a slap in the face (not literally, but still...) and I was sucked in. I had to now how Nadia ended up in that situation. I love the relationship that Nadia has with her sister Ana and it reminds me of the banter that I've had with my own sisters now mix that with Mr. A and Mr. J? Yep, I giggled through most the book. I'm in love with Carlisle and Carter, just am. I love the way Ms. Nemer created them, they are men who are't sorry for what they do—kill people. Yep. No really, let me change my way for you romance here. Her descriptions is great so that you get a senses of Houston and grounds the plot a little more.
Ms. Nemer manages to create a HEA without the need for a lot of the theatrics. I still have the warm and fuzzies and goofy grin that I had when I finished reading this book. There's a bit of mystery to it, a lot of sexy personality in the men. No sex, but it doesn't need it. That's not the focus of this character driven book. I can't wait for the next one! If you want a quick, quirky read, pick up this series, Ms. Nemer will not disappoint!

This was quite an enjoyable read and something different from Ashley Nemer. She has taken a focused reporter, coupled her together with a hot assassin and sent them on a working holiday where they step into danger. It was an intense read at times, but mostly sweet as Nadia and Carlisle’s relationship built.
Nadia is quite an amusing character. She is dedicated to her work, close to her family, but wants to explore her connection with Carlisle. She stumbles into trouble
Carlisle’s job has been a big focus in his life, but he is soon realising his priorities have changed. He is struggling with his emotions but once he makes up his mind there is no stopping him.
The side characters were great too; Anabella, Nadia’s sister had her ups and downs and I liked Carlisle’s friend Carter… He added some spice to the story too.
I enjoyed the mystery element to this story. It wasn’t the major focus of the book in my opinion, the relationship was, but I liked how it tied the whole story together. This is the first book in the series that I have read and I think it can be read as a standalone. I did miss a bit of how the relationship developed, but I think the author has done well with this particular book. I am intrigued as to where things will go now, for all four of the characters that were in this book.

Nadia and her sister Annabella decide to go on a well deserved vacation to Texas. Nadia being the reporter she is decides to try to make this a working vacation. Of course Carlisle Ali, the assassin who has protected Nadia for the last year tags along. While in Texas Carlisle introduces Annabella to Carter, a friend of his in the same line of work as Carlile, which makes him an assassin too. Now if you know Nadia trouble seems not only to follow her but find her so this keeps Carlisle and Carter busy making sure the sisters are safe from a killer.
Can the guys keep the sisters safe and get rid of the killer in their own special way? Are Nadia and Carlisle getting serious ? Can they? Is Carter the right man for Annabella?
A fast paced, action packed thriller/romance. I love the confidence of Carlisle, he knows who and what he is and makes no apologies for it. Nadia is a fun girl and serious about being a reporter. Another hit and I'm jumping right into the next book in this great series.
