DNF @29%. I'm slumping. Feels too precious ("She now knew the life-changing passion of a good man's love." and "She knew not how she could find happiness without him.").

To be clear--I'm the problem here, not the book.

Kidnapped! Help! Lady Elara and Nicholas Preston are abducted and thrown into a windowless room, where they are shackled with a sack over their heads. Being in close quarters, attraction between them sparks. How will they get out? Who is behind the abduction? And will their love survive?

Wow. What an incredibly steamy and mysterious read. There were plenty of twists and turns I wasn't expecting — and even more spicy scenes. The author sucks you in from the very beginning. I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters. Preston was naughty while Elara was strong-willed. This was a first for me by this author, and won't be the last. Please read the trigger warnings below:

It started off pretty interesting and I really liked the Hero at first, but then it started to go downhill very fast, to the point where it didn't make sense anymore, at least to me, and I didn't like the interactions between the main characters anymore. I was either really bored or rolling my eyes. I decided to skip ahead to see if it got better... it didn't. It just got more ridiculous. Not my cuppa.

Wow. I didn’t enjoy that at all. If you like all the angst with lots of villains and no actual groveling, this is for you. The FMC was continuously used, manipulated and mistreated. The reveal for the kidnapping in the beginning didn’t even make sense. I hated his parents for hurting an innocent woman and they shrugged it off. Gross. The sex wasn’t even that great. I wish I had DNF’d after the dubcon scene in the beginning. It gets two stars because the writing wasn’t bad. I didn’t enjoy the premise or the story. Your mileage may vary.

Do you believe it’s possible to fall in love with someone, sight unseen??

I was absolutely blown away by this book. As a first-time reader of this author, I was unprepared for the rollercoaster of emotions that awaited me. The delicate handling of the forced situation between the characters brought a sense of compassion and grace to what could have been a difficult subject. Nicholas was such a complex character with so many layers, and the mystery surrounding him kept me glued to the story. And Elara, she was such a sweet and loyal person with a spine of steel. Her love for Nicholas remained steadfast, even when his behavior confused and hurt her. The love, mystery, suspense, heartbreak and forgiveness were all interwoven seamlessly, creating a story that was both sensual and emotionally charged. The explicit, but tastefully done sex scenes added to the passion and intensity of the story, while Nicholas’ dominant side added an intriguing dynamic. I adored how the initial attraction between them was based on conversation and actions rather than visual appeal. The story was perfectly balanced between character development and plot progression that flowed effortlessly. Despite the serious undertones, there was a great mix of humor, passion and surprises that kept it from feeling dark. My one complaint is that I really wanted more groveling from Nicholas after their third act breakup. This was so painful for Elara, and me as a reader, that I needed to be soothed and won over just a bit more. This is a personal preference and what transpired may be enough for others.

I wholeheartedly recommend both the author and the book for their unique twists, fresh style and ability to provide the perfect escapism for any reader craving a passionate and engaging story. And the steam!! Emotional, descriptive and abundant! I loved this story so much that I immediately started another book by Mihwa!

I thank Mihwa for gifting me a copy of this through her Facebook group giveaway with no expectations from me. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was great. I really loved that this author brought a little bit of BDSM into this book. I loved Nicholas’ filthy mouth and I also loved that Elara wasn’t a pushover and stood her ground.
I was happy to see that the author brought characters from her previous books into this in.

The ending was excellent. The story itself is fun and easy to read. Lots of banter. I loved Preston's friends and the interactions between them and Preston. I'm interested to read the other books in the series after reading this one. However, I absolutely HATED the way Preston treated Elara. He lied to her all throughout, yet she still kept coming back to him. Girl, where's your dignity?! Overall, there's SO MUCH happening in the book. It jumps straight into action right from the very first page. There are some totally unexpected plot twists.

Spicy and fun

The key to a good story is that you fall in love with a character. Elara had everything throughout this tale. Good standing, manners, vulnerabilities, innocence, elation, sorrow and a large helping of naughtiness. There were times during reading where my heart broke for her, with her, and I could not see how it would heal, but the author clearly had other ideas. It is a slow starter but bear with it, and you will enjoy this tale immensely.

Surprisingly well written. Good story about an abduction, forced proximity, a 27 year old virgin spinster, a solicitor/barrister, and some good friends from previous books in the series. I started with this book. I hope the first two books are anywhere near as good as I am putting them on my to-read list. Mihwa Lee writes good dialogue with rakish humor.

Steamy scenes were short on the page but hot nonetheless 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I mean, we know the title…and that’s how the book begins and (no spoilers) ends. Lady Elara is a sassy heroine who isn’t afraid to speak her mind or feel her feelings. Nicholas Preston is a mystery…but we know for sure he’s a hottie lawyer who does pro-bono work and has a little too much money and influence for who he says he is.

Lee slowly unfurls the mystery with miscommunication, a house party, and some very spicy scenes. Would read again.

My first book by this author, and it was an entertaining very spicy story with a modern flavor. It starts off when the hero and heroine are abducted, and thrown together with burlap sacks over their heads. Lots of twists and unexpected turns keep this story moving along to the HEA.

I really like how the book was constructed with very short chapters that have date and time headings. Very creative! The author has a unique writing style, and frequently uses similes … so many that I was tempted to start counting them. JK. I can’t decide if they were overdone or just consider them part of the author’s creative writing.

Numerous explicit sex scenes that came across as a bit mechanical … would have been nice to have some more romantic words exchanged between Preston and Elara. Overall, a really good fun story from a newish author!! Highly recommend!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

(Another HR with a very similar start where the hero and heroine first meet each other and are forced to f*** in front of another person: Defiant by Pamela Clare. It won a RITA award for best book of the year, and is the third book in the McKinnons Rangers series. Excellent)

A steamy, emotional roller coaster ride.
I found this book via a FB group for hot historical romances, and the author played up the beginning and the main characters’ first time together.
And indeed, the meet cute was anything but cute with them both kidnapped and tied up.
Sound zany? Yes, but it was handled so well…The hero was the epitome of heroic, and as gentlemanly as the situation allowed. The rest of the book continued the thoughtful, emotional journey for Nicholas and Elara. I don’t always read histroms with villains, but her cousin was certainly a villain, and the couple’s journey to overcome all that was a fantastic read.
This was my first Mihwa Lee and I was happy to see there is a backlist to enjoy.

Very exciting and steamy

Not a moment of dullness with an exciting storyline with twists that flow seamlessly. Super steamy and eloquently written. Not as dark as one would expect from the title as the story focuses on how the couple’s love develops in the adversity.

Abducted is the 3rd book in the Rogues Worth Saving series by Mihwa Lee, but is perfectly delightful as a stand-alone. It is a steamy regency romance featuring forced proximity, fake fiancé, secret identity, instalove.

Lady Elara finds herself abducted and imprisoned with a mysterious, yet charming solicitor Nicholas Preston for reasons unknown. However it quickly becomes clear the villains are not after ransom money. Confined in one room, put in shackles and presented with an ultimatum, undeniable attraction sparks between them. After managing an escape Elara learns of her father’s poor health and her cousin’s mischievous plans. Needing help and protection, she turns to Nicholas to ask him act as both her solicitor and fiancée. The attraction between the two blazes once again, but Nicholas has a powerful secret that threatens to destroy their newly forged bond. Can Elara unravel the mystery surrounding Nicholas? Can Nicholas find a way to be with the woman he truly loves? Will their love prove strong enough to weather scandal, betrayal, jealousy and treachery?

The plot is well developed with interesting twists and turns so there is no way to put the book down once you have started reading it. Filled with steamy passion, deception, love, heartbreak, conflict and a taste of mystery and danger, it is and emotional rollercoaster that keeps you hooked from the very first page. The storyline stands out as being original and also very intriguing – definitely one to remember. It is a refreshing escape from the traditional debutantes and ballrooms. The story is rather fast paced and very well written. The book comes with some triggers, so check the warnings before reading. After starting with a big bang, there are so many unanswered questions, but the author has it all worked out and everything will make perfect sense in the end. The main characters are interesting. Elara is intelligent and capable and knows her own mind. Nicholas is kind, yet can turn into cold and domineering in an instant – a chameleon. He also has the air of power, confidence and mystery – an intriguing man for sure. Together they make a lovely couple – I really like the way Nicholas is trying to protect Elara no matter what and the way Elara puts her trust in him. There is a lot of interaction between the characters over the paragraphs, so there is constantly something happening and the timeframe of the story is actually very short, yet it doesn’t feel rushed or unnatural. All in all it is an exciting story and I really enjoyed reading it. Cannot wait to read other books in this series.

A kidnapping introduces the readers to Nicholas Preston and Lady Elara , the main characters of Abducted. I was immediately intrigued with this unusual story structure and as I read on and discovered the kidnappers demand, I knew there was no chance of me putting down the book!

Nicholas Preston is a charming, humble solicitor who works for the good of the everyday man. As kind as he seems, he shows glimpses of a hard and domineering side that adds a bit of mystery to the man. He has strong friendships with members of the TON who readers have met in the Rogues Worth Saving Series. As a reader I appreciate close friendships built into the lives of the main characters and as you read you can feel the connection and respect between these characters.

Lady Elara is a capable, intelligent woman who has avoided her slimy cousin James for a long as she can. With her father's illness, James begins intruding and setting the trap for Lady Elara's hand. When you read, you feel the danger he presents, seethe at his underhanded actions and pray that Elara stays one step ahead to thwart his plan and maintain her freedom!
The kidnapping lingers as an unsolved question weaving in and out and ultimately driving the story. I love Historical Romance with a taste of danger behind a mystery. This is a well-crafted plot line and the twist and turns keep me on my reading toes. I dropped my jaw as things were revealed bit by bit and felt as outraged as Lady Elara when she is faced with a heartbreaking deception!

Abducted was a fantastic tale full of discovery, tender feelings, and heartache wrapped in loving steam! All the spice comes naturally from the growing relationship between Nicholas and Elara making it that much better!

Abducted was my first book by Mihwa Lee. I devoured this one and will be reading Books 1 and 2 in the Series. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for something a bit different filled with emotion and solid storytelling!

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily leaving my review based solely on my personal reading experience.

Thanks to the author for a copy of this book and this is my freely given opinion.

This is the third book of the series and while I have the others, I actually have not read the preceding books in the series, so am not sure if I would have gotten more out of it if I had read them or not.

This is a historical romance that starts with the two main characters meeting in a period of trauma and crisis. Lady Elara and Nicholas Preston are strangers to each other and only meet when they are abducted and forced to be each others sole source of comfort and strength when they are abducted. Despite the harrowing circumstances, their forced proximity and reliance on each other quickly builds strong feelings of trust and protectiveness. But Nicholas is hiding much about his past that prevent their relationship from becoming more when they gain their freedom.

This is a forced proximity, hidden identity story that becomes quite a dramatic story that also includes court and international intrigue, mixed with hidden conspiracies, and if anyone has issues with it, marital infidelity/marital intrigue. It is a very unusual story and I quite enjoyed the writing. But it does start with the trauma of abduction, and a situation that involved forced intimacy that some may have difficulties reading. I know I had some issues with the situation when reading it, though I found it interesting story telling. I did have some issues with how passive Lady Elara was at some points in the story; considering what she went through, wants, and is putting up with, I was not happy that she sat back in tearful despair and helplessness, rather than fighting for what she wanted or at least for answers.

But it was a very interesting, and compelling read, and I am enjoying Mihwa Lee's vision and story telling.

When destiny gets a firm shove in the right direction...
or what happens when the powers that be run out of patience.

Elara – earl’s daughter, 27, capable assistant estate manager, shy and untouched – and soon to inherit all her father’s assets to great frustration of his heir, her cousin and jilted fiancé.
Nicholas – solicitor for the poor, knight in shining armour, man of many names and occupations, skilled escaper and always looking over his shoulder – and married to a wife he hasn’t seen in nearly a decade.

They’re both kidnapped and thrown together. Their captor’s demand: copulate and create.
Luckily Nicholas can free them, but not before the deed was done – and his heart irrevocably entwined with hers. His next mission: find out who ordered this and stay as far away from Elara as possible – at least until he can locate his wife and get their marriage annulled.
But when Elara’s father falls ill and her cousin once more comes to stake his claim, she turns to the one man she can trust – Nicholas – and he’s unable to deny her...

This story is complicated and a little bonkers with a hint of twisted and ye-of-little-faith, but intriguing, steamy and rather surprising in its predictability. It has some nifty twists and a few unexpected dirty ones. His parents are a nasty piece of work, and so is his soon-to-be ex.
Nic is a strange creature; possessive, protective, jealous yet caring, dedicated and capable of changing face in the blink of an eye. When his blood runs south, he becomes forcefully domineering. Not that she’s complaining, but it felt wrong sometimes, out of context, especially with a woman of so little experience.
I really liked that Elara made him suffer a bit in the end; he really deserved that after all he put her through. He never lied, but he also kept her completely out of the loop.
It’s a good book, captivating with a solid plot, but I think I prefer the two previous ones in this series.

This is the third book in this series and like the other two, there’s a different location setting for each one. This book reads well as a standalone, it has a darker tone than the others and there are characters in the end from the previous books but it’s not essential to have read the former books.
Lady Elara and Nicholas Preston are both kidnapped and held hostage in a room together. Neither knows why they are being held. Nicholas tries to reassure Elara and make her comfortable regardless of the situation they are in. He’s protective of her and they are attracted to each other when they eventually get to see each other.
The kidnappers eventually tell them the reason they are being held and neither can believe what they are hearing.
The conditions of their situation leads to an uncomfortable situation that is written with delicacy, discretion and compassion. Elara falls in love with Nicholas but after they escape, their relationship changes and Elara doesn’t recognise the Nicholas as the man she knew.
There are lots of surprises in this book and steamy, steamy scenes throughout. Thankfully they get their happily ever after and there’s some familiar faces from the previous books near the end of the book which was lovely to see.
It was a great read, even though the start wasn’t unusual for a regency historical romance. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys steamy historical romance novels.
I received a special copy of this book from the author. I’m voluntarily leaving this review. All views and opinions are my own.

When I started reading Abducted, I wasn't quite sure what to expect as my experience with Mihwa's writing has been mixed. “Saving the Marquess” sparkled as a debut novel, but book two, Lady Asilia’s Gamble didn’t quite tickle my fancy (tickle tickle tickle). But bae-by, Abducted, book three in the Rogues Worth Saving series, hits all the right spots. Packed with characters that practically jump off the page, this book ensnares your imagination in a series of twists and heartfelt moments. The storytelling is crisp and captivating, chaining you to its pages from start to finish.

The premise, Lady Elara and Nicholas Preston, two people who have no knowledge of one another are inexplicably kidnapped and thrown together. At first, the logic behind their capture is as clear as mud, but eventually the pieces slowly begin to fall into place. As Elara and Nicholas fight for their freedom, a flicker of connection starts to kindle between them. This budding romance, nurtured under the cloak of secrecy, faces a rocky journey as Nicholas's dark past and a web of deceit threaten to tear them apart. With every passing encounter, Elara struggles with trust and treachery, love and betrayal, while questioning if the love they have is genuine and worth fighting for.

Abducted is a testament to Mihwa's evolving storytelling skills, weaving together a tale of mystery, emotion, and a love that defies odds. From its gripping opening to its heart-pounding conclusion, the book holds its reader in a tight embrace, making it impossible to put down.

Lady Elara and Nicholas Preston have the most memorable meeting in romance when they are abducted from their Regency lives, handcuffed to a bed in a remote cottage, and instructed to copulate--while their captors watch. Lee turns this into an opportunity for tender, passionate love-making, and that's not the first surprise in store in this delightful story. After Nicholas, one-time spy, manages their escape, Elara returns to her life as an earl's daughter and he to his as a solicitor, but both are marked by their torrid experience.

When Elara's evil cousin pressures her to marry, Elara turns to Nicholas for help. Instead of the standard marriage of convenience trope, however, Lee changes it up once again: Nicholas isn't free to marry. He's also very high-born. Kingdoms are at stake if he doesn't please his family; but all that will please him is winning her.

Lee knows how to pour on the passion, yet the couple's connection is soulful at the same time, and their quick-witted conversations were my favorite part of the book. The twists and turns of the action yanked my heartstrings this way and that, while Preston's bawdy group of friends--whom we've met in her previous books--provide comic relief. The ending is definitely climactic, and if I don't get Carlisle's story soon, I will tracking down the author and demanding it. Her books are a salacious, savory treat.

One of my pet peeves

I read 91% of this book before dropping it out of irritation. I hate when the male character does something reprehensible and then the female just forgives him in the name of love. Boo. Boring.
I want prolonged groveling and true regret. "I did it for us" doesn't work for me. He didn't even send her a message for 2 weeks and she's just gets over it in a snap.
I also thought the storyline to be ridiculous. If his parents wanted him to stay married what was the point of the kidnapping? Why did nobody question what was going to happen to the baby? Or her when she returned to society a ruined woman? There were no pregnancy tests so how were they supposed to know if she was pregnant after only 3 days? Why would Julia accept James, a lowly viscount?
I've read more than my share of historical books but there were several times in this book when the writing was so overly flourished I had no idea what the author was saying.
The only reason I gave it 2 stars is bc the SA scene and subsequent smut was well done.

This book was amazing! A top tier historical romance you don't want to miss out on if you're a fan of the genre.

I'm a big histrom fan but I sometimes have trouble finding historical romances published today with a voice I find authentic for the time period, where the characters don't talk in too "modern" a way, where the setting doesn't feel like an ersatz of an ersatz of an ersatz of Regency because of hasty world building.

Not so with this story. "Abducted" blends an epic storyline (the mystery! The danger! The DRAMA!!), passionate love and super spicy scenes. The dialogues are great and the start of the story will such you right in. I loved Elara who was reserved but so determined to take charge of her own life, and Nicholas is a true-blue alpha hero. Their chemistry was INTENSE and kept me turning the pages.

I'll definitely be reading more of Mihwa's work! 5 stars

A rollicking roller coaster right from the start!
If you want an escape from the normal tropes with a large pinch of spice, then this is the author for you. The book starts in at the deep end with H and h who don't know each other, being kidnapped by a team of rogues. Then begins a tale of a villainous family member, an ailing father, friends from previous books, and a twist that explains all. It's a roller coaster ride with descriptive consensual sex almost from the outset. Now in other hands this might be over the top but the well written drama has plenty of tension and a satisfying hea. I had the pleasure of reviewing an ARC copy and can highly recommend it.

This book was such a delightful discovery—I’m so glad I picked it up!

Abducted is my first historical romance, and it opened up a whole new world for me 😁

The story blends spice, mystery, and comedy beautifully. I found the pacing very enjoyable and the main characters quite likable—plus, who doesn’t enjoy some good aristocratic drama? 🥸

The only aspect that felt a bit bland to me was the motive for the kidnapping, which could have benefited from a bit more explanation.

The FMC is incredibly sweet and captures the longing many women of that era felt to find true love and happiness—a desire often overshadowed by the prevalence of arranged marriages among families.

Nicholas Preston and Lady Elara Frances are abducted and forced to be together. A bond of affection and intimacy develops, but must end after they escape and return to their places in the real world. Distance doesn't stop their longing for each other. Preston's secrets will ultimately drive a wedge between them. Before it's too late and she is married to another, he must confess and claim the woman he loves. A complex and complicated plot with descriptive sex.

This was another enjoyable read by Milha Lee. It was very spicy and kept me invested from the first page.

I loved the heroine, Clara. She was sweet, but also strong. The Hero, Preston, was not always my favourite as I didn't like the way he sometimes treated Clara.

If you like a steamy, abduction trope with abit of mystery, then you should pick this one up!

I received an arc via the author and this opinion is my own and review was submitted voluntarily.

So Hot!!!!! This book is off the charts! So well written just as the first two in the series, excellent book with a great story and so steamy. Preston is so sweet, attentive, and caring, and even better Dominant as all get out. I'm pretty sure I'm in love. And if the heat in her books was not enough to keep your attention, the story lines and the plot twists just outstanding.

After reading this book I just have to read the the first two in the series I enjoyed it so much. A whole lot of hot hot hot steamy intimacy scenes with just pure attraction and lust, based around the first moment of being kidnapped in close proximity. The banter between the two main characters was enjoyable to read for the happily ever after.

This book retains a lot of the Bonkers elements of old school romance, and is a quick high paced read! Has a lot of potential for sure, I think I was just hung back on the hero’s hot/cold treatment of the heroine. Yes, there are reasons for this, and yes, this is also a hallmark of old school romance!
