The deal is simple: my brother’s best friend--who just so happens to be my new roommate--shows me the ropes in the bedroom, and I owe him a favor when the time comes. No big deal, right? Except that the favor he asks for is something I never saw coming.
Call Me Teach is a spicy lessons hockey novella that takes place in SJ Sylvis's upcoming series: Wilder U (coming 2026). This title was previously in an anthology but it has a couple of added scenes and a glimpse of upcoming characters!
S.J. Sylvis is an Amazon top 50 and USA Today bestselling author who is best known for her angsty new adult romances and romantic comedies. She currently resides in North Carolina with her husband, two small kiddos, and dog. She is obsessed with coffee, becomes easily attached to fictional characters, and spends most of her evenings buried in a book.
"They don’t call me Teach for nothing, Hannah. Now get on the bed."
Nolan Hayes loves a challenge. And that challenge is Hannah Evans. His best friend's sister. And his new roommate. Hannah wants nothing to do with Nolan. But be careful what you wish for because Nolan just so happens to be a great teacher… And Hannah finds it really hard to keep away from him. And his lessons.
"I can’t deny the pull I feel when I look at her."
I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review ❤️🖤
"There's a chemistry that I feel with Hannah that I haven't felt with anyone before, and the more I'm with her, the stronger it becomes."
It was smutty, short and sweet and I could not get enough of it. I CANNOT WAIT for the rest of the Wilder U series. I devoured this in an hour and it was 🔥🔥 to say the least. I loved Nolan's cockiness and honestly you had me hooked at the title 😏😏
"Looks like we both earned an A."
And the playlist was short and sweet and definitely smutty 🌶️🔥
✨ Hockey novella ✨ spicy lessons ✨ brother's best friend ✨ roomates to lovers
I love Hannah and Nolan so much! This is the perfect novella and introduction to Wilder U.
It had a little bit ofeverything I love and that wonderful mix of charm and spice that SJ is absolutely a master at. Hannah has to move in with her brother after a break up and his roommate and best friend Nolan overhears her tell a friend that she's never been able to 💦 with another person. Nolan decides to become her spicy teacher. Well of course he catches feelings and wants her for himself.
This is just charming and quick and easy was quick to read and get lost in. I also squealed when Hannah's brother found out because it's simply THE BEST MOMENT!
SJ Sylvis what did you put into this novella?! I am addicted. I mean Brother’s teammate, they are roommates and so many spicy lessons. Sign me up! I need more!
Hannah ends up living with her brother and a few of his teammates temporarily. She has been feeling inexperience and not that confident in the bedroom, so once Nolan over hears her conversation with her best friend talking about finding a man to help her with those lessons. He jumps right into agreeing to help Hannah. Then, the feelings start to developed and he wanted her to be his. I loved them soo much.
I think this was an amazing introduction to SJ Sylvis new series and I am soo excited to see what she has in store for us.
Thank you so much SJ Sylvis and Valentine PR for this ARC!☺️
Tropes: ❤️ Brothers Teammate 🏒 Hockey Romance ❤️ Roommates to Lovers 🏒 Spicy Lessons ❤️ Close Proximity
My only complaint about this book is the fact that it is a novella. The plot and story was so good it left me wanting more. And I am fully aware that, that is in fact a me problem. I originally read Call Me Teach in an anthology and guess what, I loved it then and I loved it even more the second time around! If there is one thing that SJ Sylvis does well, that is writing a spicy college hockey romance. And like I said, I wanted more. In fact I NEED more!
This little novella has all of my favorite tropes: hockey, brother's best friend and teammate, roommates to lovers, forced proximity and an inexperienced FMC with "teach me" moments. Like what more can you ask for?
If you are looking for a quick read that is high in tension and spice, this is the one for you! And guess what? This is the start of a new series called Wilder U!
* I would like to say THANK YOU to SJ Sylvis for allowing me to read Call Me Teach as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.
“They don’t call me Teach for nothing, Hannah. Now get on the bed.”
This fast-paced novella sucked me in. I loved all 92 pages of it!
Hannah is temporarily staying at her brother’s place. While she’s on the phone with her best friend, her brother’s roommate, Nolan, overhears her conversation. Nolan offers her a solution to her predicament. He can “teach” her what she needs to feel more sexually confident. All he wants in return is an owed favor… Simple, right? Hannah never expected what he wanted in return.
I wish this book wasn’t a novella. A full-length book is what I want. I couldn’t get enough of this couple. Nolan and Hannah had amazing chemistry. I loved how cocky Nolan was, but yet so sweet with Hannah. Hannah had a confidence but yet a humble side that was endearing. I WANT MORE! This novella had the perfect balance of everything. I’m ecstatic to read more about our hockey boys of Wilder U. Who knows, we may get some football too. Just saying…
Tropes: hockey, roommates, brother’s best friend/teammate, spicy lessons, secret relationship.
Just finished Call Me Teach and OMG… I devoured it! ❤️🔥😍 Spicy? Absolutely. 🔥 Quick read? Yep. 💨 Hot AF? 100%. 🥵 I’m obsessed and already counting down for the rest of the series to drop!
If you’re into playful banter, forbidden romance, and that brother’s best friend tension—this one needs to be on your TBR. It’s a quick read! Trust me, you’ll fly through it!
Eeeeeeppppssss!!! Guys. I changed my mind. When I first read Call Me Teach, a short story previously published in Hit Me With Your Best Shot anthology, I honestly didn't like it very much due to the lack of storyline and how short it was. However, believe it or not, after adding new scenes, introducing never-before-met characters, and wrapping up with a bonus ending, S.J. Sylvis had turned this novella into an incredibly addictive one! To my astonishment, S.J. somehow perfectly transformed the whole story and offered us a little sneak peek into her upcoming new series, Wilder U, and in all honesty, I couldn't wait to dive back into her college sports romance era! All in all, I absolutely LOVED Nolan and Hannah's story and at the same time, secretly hoped that S.J. would give them a full-length book because they deserved it! Please go pick this up and enjoy!!
***Thanks to the author for kindly providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
4 'Call me yours' Stars! ARC provided via Valentine PR in exchange for an honest review.
A quick, steamy and delicious treat from S.J. Sylvis so she can tease us all about an upcoming new series and crew of characters. Call Me Teach is her introduction to the Wilder U series and it's a short story that surely left me wanting to know more about Hannah, Nolan and the rest of the characters. If you are into forbidden / sports romance and troupes like forced proximity, roommates, spicy lessons and brother's best friend, you definitely have to check out this novella.
There’s a chemistry that I feel with Hannah that I haven’t felt with anyone before, and the more I’m with her, the stronger it becomes. What the fuck is happening?
In more or less an hour, this story had me addicted, already loving this new list of characters. I loved the forbidden and unexpected chemistry between Hannah and Nolan and how their sexy lessons turn into so much more. This is my second time reading this author and I have to say, I am loving everything about her writing. I just wish we had a longer book because I wasn't ready for it to be over that fast! But it sure was enough to have me excited for more, to get more scenes with this couple in the future and to read the first full length novel in this new series!
ARC Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I no longer want to be called Teach. Instead, I want to be called hers.
What a fun and spicy novella! This was a super quick read - easily done in one sitting.
There isn’t incredible depth in the characters, that’s hard to manage with the shortness of the story, but I still connected with them. I loved their instant connection and chemistry. And I was so happy they got their HEA.
Hannah and Nolan were easy to love. Nolan had a very dirty mouth, and the way he guided Hannah in learning and accepting her pleasure was so incredibly hot. I loved him even more when he staked his claim.
This is a fast-burn and spicy MF sports romance novella that ends in a HEA. It’s the introduction to a new series that I’m so looking forward to. I can’t wait to see which supporting characters from this story get a full-length one of their own in Wilder U!
Thank you SJ Sylvis and Valentine PR for the ARC.
*** As an aside, after being burned by one too many unnecessary third-act breakups recently, I kept holding my breath that the MMC wasn’t going to f it all up. I was SO happy that this turned out to be a low-angst read. Thank you! ***
This was a fast-paced novella! A hot and spicy roommate/brother's best friend/hockey teammate that I devoured! I loved Hannah and Nolan. Hannah was having trouble in the bedroom, and Nolan offered to help her become more confident with spicy lessons. And whew, were they spicy! I really loved the part where Nolan started to develop feelings for Hannah. A great introduction to the new series! I can't wait!!
❤️ Spicy Lessons ❤️ College Hockey ❤️ Brother’s Best Friend ❤️ Forbidden Romance ❤️ Close Proximity/Roommates
A hockey brother’s best friend spicy lessons novella…say less. When Hannah was struggling what else could Nolan do, but volunteer his services for some spicy lessons. I adored how Nolan built up Hannah’s confidence after her previous relationship. This was a quick, cute and spicy introduction to the Wilder U series (which now I could not be more excited for).
a novella written by sammi that’s less then 100 pages is not IT. the way that I absolutely DEVOURED this book & still absolutely craved for more, the way that I need a full & complete book on hannah & nolan ASAP is making me want to absolutely scream. 😩
I am purely convinced & I will continue to say it a million times, a book written by sammi is an immediate masterpiece. this book sucked me in HARD, a fast paced & lesson book? yes, give me a thousand more pages. the way that nolan immediately got what he wanted & wanted to scream it out, he’s the next book boyfriend I absolutely NEED. 😮💨😮💨
thank you sammi & valentine pr for this opportunity on reading this novella early. 🥰 “call me teach” is released on march 5th! an introduction to her upcoming sports romance series! & yall, i cannot express how utterly excited i am. 🤭 thank you sammi & valentine pr for this opportunity on reading this novella early. 🫶🏽
4 I do love a "spicy teacher" trope. After she breaks up with her boyfriend and has to move out, Hannah moves into her brother's apartment. Nolan, her brother's teammate and roommate, overhears Hannah complaining that she's broken because she's never achieved the big O with a guy. Of course, Nolan steps up to the plate (wrong sport, I know.)
This is a short and spicy/sexy/yum novella, setting the stage for the future characters of SJ Sylvis' new series - which I can't wait for! If you need a quick, smutty story with a "talented" reformed playboy who falls hard for the FMC, this is the story for you. (Can we get a full length book exploring the relationship between Nolan and Hannah, please? I mean, he does say, "You're mine." *cat sound*)
Reeling from her most recent breakup, Hannah is convinced- she’s the problem. Nothing ever works out, especially in the bedroom… and she’s the common denominator. Forced to stay with her brother and his college (hockey player) roommates, Hannah’s defeat is turned into determination when an opportunity arises to gain confidence and skills in- and out of the bedroom…
Super short and spicy. This was a fun cute little novella! Brother’s best friend, hockey, 🌶️ lessons…
Ohhhh yes I need the first book in this series 😳😳.
Hannah, goes to stay with her brother due to splitting from her ex. Hayes is a hockey player and shares his apartment with 2 of his friends who are also on the same hockey team.
Now imagine one of his friends teach’s his sister, hmmm 🤔, basically how to GET OFF 🫣🫣.
Well hmmm yeah, let’s say these lessons get abit carried away, with the ending setting us up perfectly to see what happens next.
Nolan, cheeky chap, with a mouth that will get you going (literally) 😂😂.
Sports romance, brother’s best friend, spicy. I am here for it all
You have to read this if you love... 🏒college hockey romance 🍌nicknames 🏒brother's bestfriend 🍌roommates 🏒forced proximity 🍌forbidden romance 🏒spicy lessons 🍌secret relationship
This spicy novella was such a good intro into the WilderU series! I love a good forbidden romance.. there's just something about "we shouldn't be doing this" but doing it anyways! When Nolan overhears Hannah say that she has never been able to *enjoy herself* with a man, he decides she needs a teacher; and he is willing to take on that role in exchange for a favor. Their banter and chemistry was off the charts and I am so ready to read the rest of this series!
It is a spicy lessons hockey novella that takes place in SJ Sylvis’s upcoming series: Wilder U (coming 2026)
Nolan is a hockey player and a teammate of Hannah’s older brother. Hannah moved into their apartment temporarily and before they know it, a deal was made between them(a very spicy one).
This book was definitely spicy! It is a novella so it was fast paced. The characters were very interesting, the banter, the chemistry, the understanding, the tension, the pull, ooofff. (so so hot) Despite being short, I was able to connect with the story and the characters so easily.
I wanted more from this book, so much more. It should have been at least 400 pages long. Can we get their book in the series? Please.
This is a perfect read if you want something short and spicy.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 (for a novella)
Thank you for the ARC @valentine_pr_ and @authorsjsylvis
Call Me Teach, a forbidden, college hockey romance follows freshly single Hannah, and Nolan. Freshly single Hannah is staying with her brother and his roommates following her breakup. Our mmc is your typically cocky, player hockey guy, and our fmc is fed up with her ex, under experienced, and ready to jump back on the proverbial horse.
I really loved our MCs first meeting in this one! It was equal parts funny and embarrassing cringe, but in a god way. I was destined to love this whole read since it’s packed full of my fav tropes ~ hockey romance, brothers friend/teammate, forbidden, reformed player & more 🗣️😮💨 There’s just something about a possessive mmc, spicy-lessons trope that has me on my knees 🙇♀️🙂↔️
This novella was very well-written & it left me so excited for what’s next in the world of Wilder U! I enjoyed the small glimpses into Hannah’s family life & her relationship with her brother. The mini introductions to Hayes, Hannah’s brother, her bestie, Aria & other members of the hockey team.
IYKYK, SJ is one of my top, auto-buy authors this book was amazing & I need more asap 🔥
“No girl has ever made my heart beat this fast, and to think, Hannah isn’t even out right doing anything to me.”
“I’m waiting, Hannah. Tell me what you think about when you’re alone. I wanna know the things your dirty little mind conjures up.”
“Once you’re his, you’re no longer mine.”
“I no longer want to be called Teach. Instead, I want to be called hers.”
I loved Hannah and Nolan’s story!!! Fast paced, spicy novella where he falls for her?! After showing her how to be confident with herself. Love it, such a fun quick read!

My review 🫶🏼
OOOOOH BABY. this novella may be under 100 pages, but it's got enough spice for an entire full sized book 🔥🔥🔥 Call Me Teach is just a glimpse into an upcoming new series by SJ Sylvis, and I cannnottttt wait for it!! This novella left me wanting to know more about Hannah and Nolan, and the rest of the crew mentioned.
I couldn't help but smile and kick my feet in the early interactions in the book, and this book just captured my attention immediately. I feel like the book was over as soon as it started and I just wanted more of it. Nolan is 😮💨🥵🤌🏼 and I just wanted more of him and his dirty talk 😂 I will just be patiently waiting over here for the first full book in the series to drop 🙇🏻♀️
Hockey romance • Brother’s best friend • Spicy lessons
“I no longer want to be called Teach. Instead, I want to be called hers.”
Hannah moves in with her brother after a break up which puts her with a few guys from the hockey team. She’s having a little trouble in the pleasure department and Nolan (her brother’s BFF and teammate) overhears this confession and offers his assistance. Lessons for a future favor, that’s the deal. But then it becomes so much more. A fun introduction to Wilder U. Definitely ready for what’s to come.
