AWOL: The Best Way Out Is In

Rate this book
This isn't just TD's story; it's Everyman's story. In AWOL, TD Dierker shares a raw and deeply personal journey that transcends the commonly used military term, instead delving into the universal experience of being missing from one's own life. Through his own struggles with false personas and self-deception, Dierker unveils a narrative that resonates with every man grappling with the challenge of true self-discovery.In a world where many of us have lost command of our own narratives, AWOL emerges as a powerful invitation to reflect, accept, and befriend oneself. Dierker doesn't position himself as a guru with all the answers; instead, he offers a trail guide—a companion for those seeking to reconnect with their authentic selves.AWOL isn't about dictating what to do or prescribing a one-size-fits-all solution. It's a springboard, a narrative that encourages men to look back, understand, and embrace their own stories. Through vulnerability and honesty, Dierker paves the way for readers to embark on a transformative journey toward a more fulfilled and satisfied life.

“Feelings aren’t our decision maker, but it would be foolish not to listen to them.”

In a time when so many men are confused about what it means to be a man amidst the many competing voices claiming to espouse some notion of “masculinity”, Dierker offers a solution to the crisis of masculinity by suggesting the way out lies WITHIN.

Through gripping stories of his life and other great men, Dierker shows how through learning to come to grips with the root of their self-doubts and what lies behind the masks we put on, we can be men who are no longer emotionally AWOL (Absent Without Leave) and thus fully alive - becoming the version of ourselves we were meant to be for ourselves and our loved ones.

excellent but

Profound wisdom taken from the ancient classics. However the book on the kindle “ended at 90 percent,.” There was way more to read and caused frustration as the epages flipped unending. Otherwise, easy to read and a great challenge for all men to undertake.

TD bears his sole through vulnerability and shared experiences. The book is only 137 pages but yet felt a bit long. Still, his anecdotes are terrific and lessons instructive.
