Learn Basic Library Skills

Rate this book
This book describes the skills needed by anyone beginning work in a library or other information agency, whether at a professional or a paraprofessional level.

Each chapter deals with a section of basic library work and with the knowledge and skills needed to perform it well. Anyone who understands the tasks and procedures and the reasons for doing them will be far more competent in carrying them out. Where standard rules exist (i.e. filing rules), explanations are included. For procedures that vary form library to library, the authors outline common approaches or encourage the reader to find out how it is done in a local library.

Designed for use on its own or as part of a formal course of study. Includes exercises and quizzes for improving skills. Answers are provided in the back of the book.
