Twisted mages, dragons, and a sacrificial bride to save the land.
Every year, the villagers of Omdahl pay tribute to their Dragon Master by gifting him with food and jewels for his protection against outside forces. For centuries, this exchange has taken place. This year, the neighboring radical mages have grown agitated, and have attacked the villagers. If matters weren’t already dire, the land is steadily dying, and becoming uninhabitable. When the attacks grow more violent, the Elders of Omdahl agree, the tithe for the Dragon Master will be a bride.
Imara always knew she was different, and the village never ceased to remind her. Unable to conjure magic like her fellow seidr’s, she’s a pariah. But when the opportunity to save her homeland arises, she knows what she must do–even if it means becoming the Dragon Master’s bride.
Now, to protect all she loves, Imara must work alongside the Dragon Master, or they risk losing everything.
Fans of Sarah J. Maas, Grace Draven, Holly Black, and Casey L. Bond are devouring Christis Christie & Elle Beaumont’s co-written novel!
I wrote it, so I'm biased. But this was a labor of love, and it carried both Christis and me through a rough year! That being said, I hope you all enjoy our first co-written novel!
Here's a little side note:
Christis and I have been writing together for a decade, mostly on writing forums, but it wasn't until December 2019 that I proposed to her. "Will you co-write with me?" These characters were already somewhat alive in our heads prior to then, but once we decided we were going to do it, the rest they say is history!
So our journey began... and we both hope you love Ronar and Imara as much as we do.
A beautifully rendered fairy tale with hints of Beauty and the Beast, Lord of the Rings, and all the sass you could possibly want!
Christie and Beaumont bring to life a rich world full of well-rounded characters, fascinating magic, and an enchanting love story for the ages. All I can say is if you love fairy tales, do yourself a favor, and snag a copy. It won't disappoint.
I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK. SERIOUSLY! IT HAD A SEXY MAN BEAST DRAGON! Yes, for those reviews that mention it, it does have similiarties to Uprooted. But only in passing in my opinion. This story was unique all on it's on. And I want to spend waaaayyyy more time with Ronar. Imara can take a vacation. Okay, that was rude. But oh, well. Did I mention the snark? Well, their banter was a thing of legends and I absolutely loved it! Seriously, Imara can take a vacation. That is all.
THE DRAGON'S BRIDE is currently a standalone but how I would love for another book to be written! I'm sure Asta has a story to tell plus I want to hear about the King's ideas... just sayin' 😉
In this story, we meet Imara, who has grown up looked down upon by most of her fellow villagers. When someone is chosen to become the Dragon Master's Bride, she isn't surprised when she is chosen. Instead of an ogre though, she finds someone to torments and tantalises in equal measure, who challenges her to become more than she ever thought possible.
What a story this was! Fantasy, romance, elements, it's all here. And I was swept away with every word. So much so I read this in one sitting because I wasn't going to move until I'd finished it! The pacing is perfect and the slow-burn romance leaves you wanting more before it delivers all you could ask for.
A fantastic story that I highly recommend.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *
I don’t even know where to start, but I love dragons and have been eagerly anticipating this book!!! BUT, this book is SO MUCH MORE than I expected!!!! It is one of the best books I’ve read this year!!!
Unbelievably written by two authors with one voice! A rich world full of fantasy and magic. Dragons that are so breathtaking and majestic!! Well-rounded characters that grow so much as the story progresses. I loved the MC’s!!! I was so wrapped up in them. I’m so happy that their story will continue!!
This is one of those stories that you can't get enough of. Once started I couldn’t put it down! You'll want to turn around and read it again the second you're done.
Thank you so so much to the authors, the publisher, Midnight Tide Publishing, and Midnight Tours for providing me a copy of this book !!!
“The time for meekness is over, Mari Girl,” she murmured. “He may be the Dragon Master, and to be your husband, but let him know you will settle for nothing but a true partnership, no matter his powers”
“I may be a tyrant, but you are a devil of a woman”
Entertaining, sweet and magical … this book truly did the trick for a new year that was different and full of surprises !!! A beauty and the Beast retelling but with dragon shifters and elemental magic and a young woman who’s both an outcast from her village … and the only one who can save them !!! Imara is offered as a tribute to the Dragon Master , to be his bride, in exchange for him to protect her village. But something more is in store for her … and sook enough the constant banter with her Dragon Lord becomes more than simple bitterness … The tension between them is not as hard as I’m used to but definitely there. The attraction is undeniable and when you put two people in a one bed trope … things are bound to get interesting !!! I very much enjoyed this story, including the world building and characters’ development. I grew very fond of some side characters especially so … I’m all in for other books where their story is explored !!!! I would very much like to know what Imara and Ronar are up to !!!!
“We all carry scars, but not all of us are keen on talking about them”
“Dragons shall bow to you”
“The dragon and his bride. What couldn’t they accomplish together?”

Overall, I was fairly entertained by this book by Christis Christie and Elle Beaumont; 'The Dragon's Bride'. The story itself was decent. However, there are some issues. First, the pacing seems odd. The entire thing takes place in a matter of a couple of months, most of the time being spent in jumps. It seems as though either the details needed to be greater, or the scope of time needed to be greater. When you focus on that limited of time, it seems like it would be necessary to get down to the fine details. Another issue is the scope of the setting. Nearly everything takes place in a single valley, yet the reader is supposed to be made to believe that the impending peril is overwhelming. The third and probably largest issue I found was that there were occasions when the grammar and syntax seemed to change jarringly for a few sentences. I don't know if this is caused by having two authors contributing, or if it was added to make the book seem more fantastical. Either way, it would completely jolt me out of any level of immersion.
This is a book that felt like something from a promising novice author. I do not regret my time with it, and would be interested to see what Christis Christie and Elle Beaumont release in the future.
ARC received from Booksirens in exchange for a honest review. My thoughts are my own.
I'm fairly sure I'm probably not the target audience for this book, age-wise, but nonetheless this was a decently enjoyable read. The writing is simple yet lyrical, the plot goes by smoothly and the characters are intriguing enough to keep you reading. The witty dialogue between the two leads was sassy enough to tear a couple of smiles out of me - as usual, I cannot quite resist a romance where the two characters sass one another, rather than incessantly think about each other's physical appearance.
This said, I definitely agree with what other reviewers are said: it reads like a simpler version of Uprooted, likely aimed at somewhat younger audiences. I'd recommend this book to whoever enjoys YA and enjoyable, if simple, standalone fantasy. Sometimes you just need that brain candy.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s written from 2 POVs which can be difficult but was done well. Imara was a perfect blend of strength and sass, and I liked her grumpy companion. I loved the journey she went on to find herself and her ties with her family. This story just made me feel good. It has some Beauty and the Beast vibes and uses them well. I find myself skeptical when it comes to new fantasy books because it’s my main genre and I feel like sometimes it gets repetitive, but this was an absolutely lovely read. I highly recommend reading this story and absolutely praise Christie and Beaumont for opening up this exciting world.
For reference on my tastes: I love ACOTAR and Six of Crows. Caraval and Twilight just weren’t my thing.

The Dragons Bride is an amazing story about Imara, a girl who is the only person in her village who is without any powers. When the villagers get attacked by mages and with the land drying up, there is lack of offerings to gift the Dragon King. So they offer her as his bride in exchange for protection.
It’s a story about character growth and romance, fantasy and magic, secrets and mystery! I really love this story and recommend it to all!!
It's hard to write a story, and for two people to mesh so well while writting a story it's even harder... These two authors did that in spades. I love books about dragons, and if they have slow burn romance, witty banter, some snark and epic fantasy ... well I'm sold. This book had all that and more, it reads so fast once you do have time to sit down with it .. because if you have other chores they will be forgotten.. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between our main protagonists and how their relationship is developped, and I don't often say this but I wish that this was a series because it's a world I would love to get back to. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I am giving five stars because this went in an entirely different way then expected. Is is a fairy tale but not a retelling of Beauty and the Beast which is the direction I thought we were headed in. I found myself drawn in and comparing it to truly classic fairy tales. I loved watching the heroine grow both in confidence and self worth.
While most can see the hero coming quite quickly there are some quirks that set him apart. This is a fun quick read and I hope we see more in the future with another book. will put a smile on your face.
I received this ARC for free and wanted to leave this reveiw.
An absolutely brilliant story that I couldn’t put down! I’m not sure what I expected when I started reading it but I was blown away! I loved Imara, who was a Seidr, and wanted her to show the other villagers that she was far more than the pariah that they had made her! The valley gifted to the Seidr by the Dragon Master is dying and a decision is made that a maiden must be sacrificed to the Dragons in order to get their help in bringing it back to life. I loved the way that Imara just knew that she would be the bride sacrifice and accepted it despite her family’s willingness to fight for her. The love between her and her family was beautiful.
The Dragon Master was never asked if he wanted a bride but he quickly realised that Imara was special and needed the protection and teaching that he could give her.
There is a fight going on between the Seidr and Human mages which quickly involves the Dragon Master and the dragons.
I loved the way in which Imara grows into a wonderful, strong woman.
This book, holy smokes! I loved every bit of it. It took me a little bit to finish it but not because I didn’t want to, just life kept getting in the way. I found myself thinking about the characters and what was going on the whole time I had to be away from this amazing book. I don’t think it was intended, but I got total Beauty and the Beast vibes too which sucked me in even more. The world building was amazing, I was able to picture it all each step of the way. There was so much depth, emotion, suspense, and humor tied into these pages that made it wonderful in every way. I LOVE Ronar. He was the total book boyfriend all of us want. That being said it was Imara who stole the show. She is the true heroine done right and I’m glad I got to experience her and watch her blossom into the perfect leader she was meant to be. I am now buying a hardcopy of this book because I need it on my shelves forever.
This book took me a while to read but that is my fault and not the books 🙈. The Dragon's Bride has very descriptive writing and is a great mesh of two authors coming together. Elle and Christis write well together and I can't wait to read more when they collaborate again.
While The Dragon's Bride did start off slower for me it really picked up in the last half. The character growth is great, love the banter and "bad assery". I may have even cried a bit towards the end. Lol
I highly recommend if you enjoy fantasy, magic, dragons ect. This book does not contain a lot of "romance" but is still a great read.

This was an incredible read. I'm usually able to see where a story is going, but except for a few small things, this book kept me guessing. Even from the first pages, I didn't want to stop reading. Some books take a few chapters to warm up. If you need that, this is not for you. Right from the beginning the we charge to the end, only pausing to catch our breath before taking off once more. But I don't think the last page is the real end.
This novel was the fun fantasy read I've been waiting for! I was fully immersed in Imara's adventure, which started with her becoming betrothed to Dragon Master Lejos and ended with her becoming so much more than his bride.
I finished the book in one sitting, unable to put it down. Starting from the first page, I kept wondering what would happen next. Highly recommended!
I received this book for free and I am voluntarily writing this review.
I wanted to read this story; but by page 15 I could no longer stand the author's penchant for beginning sentences with passive voice. This is a mistake that inexperienced writers make. For example, the author writes: "Picking off a small piece of lamb, Imara placed the savory meat on her tongue, chewing slowly." If this book was edited for grammar I would read it. But as it is, it's simply unreadable. Choose a different book.
Did find it hard to get into at first but once the plot thicken I was hooked. I needed to find out more about Imara and how everything was going to right itself. Please tell me there’s going to be more. As really need more or even hopefully even have a series.

Will she attain her magic? Will they marry? Can she save her valley and her tribe? Please read this story of overcoming hardships and hatred to find out!
I liked this book; I think I read it in a day and a half. It was a quick, very fast-paced, plot-based story with a premise that focused on romance in a magical world. 3.25 Summary: Imara is a seidr, which means she should possess some kind of elemental magic, but when she fails to produce any, she is labelled as an outcast in her village. Omdahl was a prosperous village once, but now the land is dying, and no amount of magic is able to save it. Not only this, but the neighboring village, which was inhabited by humans and mages (humans practicing dark magic), is plotting to attack Omdahl. The village elders and villagers, in their panic and greed, come up with a plot to appease the dragon master by gifting him a bride in return for protection from mages. And Imara, who is already an outcast, gets chosen as the bride, but rather than seeing it as a slight against her, she sees it as an opportunity to save her village. Never in the whole wide world did she predict what happened next.
Plot, characters and writing : This is a very plot-driven and fast-paced book which I feel has costed some depth in world building. It sucked me right in, and I never had a boring moment. It reminded me of a fantasy version of Beauty and the Beast- it is well structured. Having said that, I thought it tried to do a lot in the end, some of which I did not agree completely with. The book is written in third person with two points of view, those of Imara and the Dragon Master. We are introduced to multiple characters, and I just loved them all. I loved Imara's family; they were so wholesome and supportive. One time I found myself not liking Imara because in the beginning she was kind of acting illogically toward the Dragon Master, but soon she grew up, and took ownership of her mistakes, which redeemed her for me. I also adored the residents of the Dragon Keep.
Romance : I loved the chemistry and the angst between the characters. My favorite part of the novel was seeing them struggle to hide their growing feelings for one another.
I was given an ARC for this book in return of an honest review.
The Dragon's Bride turned out to be a fun read, perfect for a lazy Sunday!
🐉 Elemental Magic 🐉Forced Proximity 🐉 Dragons 🐉 One Bed 🐉 Slow Burn
Can one snarky Dragon Master, and his deficient, sacrificial, seidr bride save the lands from destitution, and restore it to its former glory? While also protecting the villagers of Omdahl from the twisted mages?
The beginning was slow, and I wasn't hooked until aroubd halfway through. But the story was fun! I really enjoyed Imara. From the girl who didn't see her own worth, to someone who truly stands in her own power. Ronar is snarky, constantly poking at Imara. But overall I enjoyed the relationship between them. It was very slow burn, more closed door, that didn't bother me. The relationship between the two of them was sweet.
I believe this is a standalone, but I would love another story with the characters! I want to know more about the magic of the world, and get to know the side characters better. I enjoyed it!

This starts out slow. While reading the first 2 chapters, I wasn't sure if I would be finishing it. Then………….. it turned into my favorite Fantasy Novel of the year!
This is the 2nd collaboration between Ms Beaumont & Ms Christie I've read, & both were excellent.
Imara was bullied as a child & teen by her entire village. Then upon discovering her magical powers after she was basically exiled by the village, she learns she is the only one who can save her hometown from ancient dark evil forces. No more on the plot, or it would be a spoiler.
This story really touched me, partially because I went through the bullying thing as a child & turned it around in my late teens. But it's also incredibly well written.
While book 1 in what is stated is a 3 book series, this totally works as a standalone; the only plot component not resolved at the very end is a promise to help a King if he needs it, & on the last page he says he needs help with an unknown issue. But I really did feel a sense of completion as a standalone, which is nice for a change.
I hope to read the other 2 when they come out; this is really that good. I'd give it a light "PG" for mature content; probably 15 & older would be age appropriate.
I've been reading a lot of YA fantasy lately, & as I'm 64 it was nice to read something geared towards a mature adult mentality.

You would like this book if you wished Uprooted by Naomi Novik was more of a romance novel. I enjoyed reading it, but probably would have enjoyed it more if that comparison wasn't always in the forefront of my mind. It was impossible not to compare them: they are so similar. In this book, the stakes felt lower and the characters, except for Imara, felt less three-dimensional.
The strongest part of this book is definitely the world building. It was an interesting fantasy world, a fun take on elf-like creatures and how their magic works. I also thought Imara was a strongly-realized character with a satisfying arc. I wish her male counterpart, Lajos, had had a similar arc, but he pretty much fell in insta-love with her and didn't deviate, which was a little boring. I like romance novels that are about both protagonists growing separately and together (especially when you get dual POVs).
Another main concern was that the title should really be "The Dragon Master's Bride" because .
I received an advance review copy from BookSirens (and authors) for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
When I first started this book, I admit struggled a bit within the first few chapters, having some issues with it being slow at the time. Deciding to give it time a fair shot, I put it down and moved on to other stories before trying again. I'm glad I did. Not very long into the story, the payoff soon shows after "what I thought was" a slow start at all. It was well paced and kept me glued to my screen.
The story is is a well written fantasy wrapped around a woman named Imara who is suddenly thrust by her village into an unwelcome marriage arrangement with The Dragon Master in order to pay for protection from those waging war on them. Imara and The Dragon Master and The 'Snark Wars' between the two is a favorite part of the story though not the only.
The story is well built with a world of magic. The side characters are fun and entertaining. Slyvi almost immediately comes to mind.
Overall, definitely turned into one of my favorites this year.
Rating: 4.5 rounded up to a 5 but honestly, it impressed me immensely. Would love more stories about these characters.
There was a lot to like about this book. Imara’s character arc, in particular, was fascinating. I loved seeing how her relationship with Ronar pushed her to better understand herself and the woman she had the potential of becoming. She was kind and independent and loyal—overall, just a really solid person. Ronar was enjoyable as well, though I felt he could be too sarcastic and dismissive at times. Their chemistry was a bit slow to start, but they eventually became very passionate and loving toward one another.
The plot was also interesting, and I enjoyed learning more about dragons and the magic community in general. Imara’s family and Ronar’s friends were great secondary characters. However, there were quite a lot of slower parts to the novel. Though the action and ending were exciting, the book would’ve seemed a lot more fast-paced and suspenseful if some of the fluff had been cut out.
Overall, this was an enjoyable and romantic paranormal story, and I recommend it to those looking for a longer book with a more drawn-out plot.
*I received an ARC of this novel. This is my complete and honest review.*
Lighthearted, romantic, and sweet; The Dragon’s Bride was a surprisingly lovely fantasy story of an arranged marriage gone right. I really enjoyed this world and the concept of the seidr as this elemental elf like race. I also liked how the narrative was told through the perspective of both main characters. The characters themselves were all really adorable, especially Imara and Ronar as they grew to know one another. I wouldn’t call this an enemies to lovers per say, but it was certainly a major distrust and minor resentment to lovers, from Imara’s side, at the very least. I do, however, wish that there was more of a gradual transition between Ronar’s platonic feelings towards Imara, to his later romantic interest. As it is, the switch seemed to come on very suddenly with some minor moral quandaries given their age gap. These were quickly dismissed though. Imara’s own feelings went through the expected arc as the two characters interacted and bantered back and forth. So, her emotional switch feels like it makes sense. It was only his that sort of came out of nowhere, despite the chapters told from his perspective leading up to it. Overall, I will probably be recommending The Dragon’s Bride to my friends who are fans of fantasy as a fast, feel-good read.
Imara apparently has no magic and is a pariah in her village. No male wants to associate with her fearing that if they marry her plight would be passed on to their children. Unfortunately a blight has come to the land and not even magic can solve the problem and the villagers have a dilemma. What to do about the tithe they give the Dragonmaster every year when they don't have enough to take care of themselves through the winter. Of course! Give him a bride. Guess who the bride will be. But the Dragonmaster senses something special about Imara and accepts her as part of the tithe. There is where the story unfolds. What is the source of the blight and how to solve it? What is special about Imara? How does the Dragonmaster and Imara resolve ... or not ... their relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and recommend it to others.

Book: The Dragons Bride . Author: Christis Christie and Elle Beaumont . Genre: Fantasy Romance . Tropes: Forced Marriage, One Bed, Gentlemen MMC, Forced Proximity, Dual POV . Spice Level: 1/5 . Romance Level: 4/5 . Pacing: Slow . Star Rating: 4/5 . I became a sucker for Ronar’s teasing. And then every time he’d take Imara’s wrist and rub it to calm her down or to feel near to her, had me falling for him. He’s such a gentleman. What I liked about their relationship was Ronar wasn’t just sweet to her with his words but also his actions.
There’s more telling than showing and because of that, I have a hard time falling in love with characters because I don’t fully get to experience their feelings and the moment they fell for each other. But I did enjoy this story and how Ronar was such a huge part of Imara’s growth and finding herself.
The battle scene was pretty epic. The whole ordeal lasted a couple chapters from both perspectives.
Their relationship is goals when it comes to friendship and finding comfort and mutual respect with each other.
