A Hero Pushed to the Brink - An Apocalypse on the Horizon
Qing's Quest continues in this heart-pounding second installment. Trapped in the magical world of Elrydisan, Qing battles demons, monsters, and the schemes of evil men in a desperate race to rescue young Cleo and stop the Devil's arrival before all is lost.
Joined by allies old and new, Qing unlocks greater powers as he plunges deeper into danger. From sewers swarming with ravenous beasts to desert pyramids pulsing with demonic magic, he faces a gauntlet of lethal challenges - and his own growing doubts. Enemies lurk at every turn, including the servants of the Devil himself.
As the odds mount and sacrifice becomes inevitable, Qing is pushed to his breaking point. Yet he cannot - will not - give up, even if saving Cleo and the world means losing everything he holds dear. Because the alternative is unthinkable.
Brimming with intense action, magic and monsters, and an ever-deepening web of characters you'll grow to love, Qing's Quest 2 is an emotional rollercoaster you won't be able to put down.
An action-packed blend of LitRPG and Isekai, with strong character growth and development.
I liked book 1 and I liked parts of this book. I still like the characters but there's hardly a chapter where a character doesn´t lose a limb or worse. As a reader, it's difficult to feel for the characters. While the MC does grow stronger, it feels like the entire book is the typical second book of a trilogy. This second book reads like one big string of failures, presumably all to set up the third book. It feels unbalanced. There is so much loss and so many quests that are failed that it is almost impossible to root for the MC. It feels like he is destined to fail at everything in this second book. I hope and assume he is redeemed in book 3, which I will read.
This book series is so good so far and it is so surprising that it hasn’t received a greater following. Everyone should read this book and have fun as much as I have.
