Redbird is an extended epilogue of about 20,000 words for Sovereign, set six years after the book ends. It's a heartwarming (and high heat) look into Keira and Gerard and their family life on Sovereign Mountain Ranch.
Raya Morris Edwards is the author of the Sovereign Mountain Series, the Welsh Kings Trilogy, and more! She lives near the mountains, but never close enough. When not writing, she's probably spending time with her family and dogs somewhere in the hills or traveling in the Blue Ridges.
Is it possible to get a extended epilogue to an already extended epilogue? I don’t think I’m still quite ready to let go of these characters. This was perfectly written with staying true to both of the MC’s personalities from the original book and I can’t wait for Westin!
3.75 stars This was definitely cute and I love how their story was continued but also wish there was more about them with their son and maybe a small glimpse into what their future looks like with their new baby girl!

This novella is told 6 years after Sovereign. We get a glimpse into Gerard & Keira’s future as parents.. and their relationship dynamic. 🫠 I loved getting to see more of these two, it was all tied together so beautifully!! It might be short, but it packed a punch with some spice. Raya has a way with words, her writing is beautiful and poetic. 🫶🏽
This was such a beautiful treat to have an extended epilogue, love the chemistry between these two characters! 🖤
Everytime I read books with unworthy H characters, I had to remind myself that man like Gerard Sovereign exists and hope is not lost 🥰
A short novella about the couple in the first book, Gerard and Keira and their son, Cash six years after the book ended. God, the dirty talking in this book is absolutely filthyyyyyy. I don’t really read dom and submissive stuff anymore but it’s nicely done here. And the bonding between Gerard and Cash? Oh my lord… so freaking cute 🥹🥹🥹
A little epilogue and a glimpse in the future of the couple, it was very short and I'll have to admit I would have loved to acknowledge even the slightest character development from both of them, I found their interaction a bit cold and stiffy, especially with the son 😐
This little extended epilogue novella packed a PUNCH. In Red Bird, we fast forward 6 years in the future and get a peek into what Gerard and Keira have been up to. What’s different and what is exactly the same 🥵🥵🥵 Short + sweet with a lil (extra) spice.
4.5 stars – A perfect little return to Sovereign Mountain
Redbird was exactly what my heart needed after finishing Sovereign. It’s short, sweet, and so satisfying—like a bonus epilogue I didn’t know I was craving until I had it in my hands.
We jump back into Keira and Gerard’s lives six years later, and getting to see the family they’ve built on Sovereign Mountain Ranch honestly made me emotional. After everything they went through—the pain, the darkness, the slow rebuilding of trust and love—it was beautiful to see them living in the peace and joy they fought so hard for. And yes… it’s still very high heat. Raya never misses when it comes to the chemistry.
Even though it’s just a novella, it felt full and warm and right. Like catching up with old friends you never stopped thinking about.
If you loved Sovereign, don’t skip Redbird. It’s the closure, the softness, and the little spark of “happily ever after” that makes the whole journey even more worth it.
So to anyone who knows me knew how obsessed I was with Sovereign . This was an absolutely great novella to let us know how Gerard and Kiera are doing in life 6-7 years after the fact . And how they grew as people . Is it a requirement to read this novella after sovereign ? No .. but should you ? ABSOLUTELY EFFING YES 🔥 it was spicy , hot , emotional and I loved being back in this world . Gerard will forever live rent free in my head and loved getting some more of his and Kiera’s story !
What a perfect short and perfect read for this couple! I will forever love them and want to read more of them. Seeing how their life is further down the road is beautiful. I do not ever want to leave this world! I'm eagerly awaiting more in this amazing series. I'm sad that for now we are done with Sovereign Ranch but I know we have so much more goodness to come
Redbird is an extended epilogue of Soverign and jumps back into Keira and Gerard’s life 6 years post-novel. I loved getting to see their dynamics as parents, DOM/SUB and a husband and wife. Gerard continues to be a whole lot of cowboy and seeing his interactions will little Cash we’re heartwarming and on-brand for his character.
I’m not going to rate it since it was an extended epilogue to Sovereign but I’ll just say that the author choosing to release these is amazing for fans and I loved the extended look into Keira and Soverign’s life together.
Sweet little bonus tie up. I really enjoyed sovereign so much. It’s a stand out book for the year for me. I will read anything with a hint of Rip and Beth to it. They make Yellowstone for me.
