Unlocking the Power of the Six Personality Types to Strengthen Your Relationships is a book designed for all people wanting to begin the process to transform their lives and deepen their relationships. It takes the reader on a unique and fabulous journey to discover more about who they are, and develop tools to empower them to live life to the fullest by enhancing their existing relationships. It can be utilized by corporate or government institutions desiring to create more effective teamwork in the workplace, by married couples and families wishing to relate on a more intimate level, by churches and schools in the pursuit to empower and enhance individuals to live deeper or more committed lives, and by counselors and clinicians seeking to help pre-marital couples and treat demanding family dynamics.
Charles Causey's family comes from Hangingdog, North Carolina, a quaint community hidden deep inside the Smoky Mountains. As a boy he ran through lush, green fields alongside his grandfather’s Black Angus cows and swam in the cool creeks and lakes - always with a wary eye out for water moccasins. The tales he heard down those beautifully wooded country roads formed in him a love for people, the outdoors, and good stories, usually told by World War II veterans while rocking together on their front porches. Now Charles has the privilege to serve veterans every day as a military chaplain stationed in Washington D.C. He is married and has four children. His website is: causeybooks.com.
Charles Causey's RELATE is a tool every individual, whether a leader or a team member, can benefit from. His framework is more concise than other models such as the Enneagram or Meyers Briggs which means it can be easier to grasp and apply to oneself and others. The online personality test is also accessible, short, and effective.
However, this simplicity can be limiting if you do not align strongly with one of the RELATE personality types, and using a more complex model like either of those mentioned above may be a helpful addition.
Charles’ extensive experience as a counselor and ministering to many as an Army chaplain worldwide is accessible in RELATE and his other books. I recommend readers take advantage of that availability.
"Relate: Unlocking the Power of the Six Personality Types to Strengthen Your Relationships" is a timely offering from author, Charles Causey, dawning on a world replete with conflicts and strained interpersonal relationships.
From his research, and broad experience working with and counseling individuals as well as couples, Causey developed a spectrum of six personality types with insights into each type and how they relate to and interact with each other. He offers characteristics of each type, their strengths and potential pitfalls.
The core of this book centers around the description of the six personality types along with a chapter summary. He then goes on to forecast how the types interact with each other individually and within formal and informal groups.
RELATE's content is written in an easy to read format, but should be seriously approached as it will challenge the readers' understanding. It should be read and reread to ensure a thorough understanding, and should be kept nearby for reference.
The author provided me with his book in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was also a participant in a group launch in which we read a Chapter and then gave our review of it.
The author sets out six different personality types. I took the short test and it was determined that I was an Assertive. When I read the description of an Asserive it nailed me. The good and the bad of each personality are covered. How each personality is viewed by others and what to watch out for if you have this personality are discussed.
I think the test should be used in an employment situation to make sure you are getting the type of people who are needed for the position you are hiring for. It can also help you diagnose what the real problem is between two personalities who just clash.
I enjoyed the book and the insight it gave me into myself and others I work or live with.
A big thank you goes to the author, Charles Causey, and Goodreads for the privilege of being able to read Relate: Unlocking the Power of the Six Personality Types to Strengthen Your Relationships in digital format through winning it in a giveaway. This book has a lot of information about different kinds of personality types, their motivations and ways to encourage them, and even how to look for traits like narcissism. In learning more about how people work together or may clash, it levels up your own social-emotional knowledge and gives you a deeper insight. There was a lot in this book that left me thinking more about interactions in the past and how I hope to work on my interactions in the future. I think this book is helpful not just for work, but also for just general social interactions. I would recommend this book to almost anyone who is looking to improve themselves and their social skills.
A book about trying to label people and put them in one identifiable box. Then label that box as having certain attributs and claim that knowing all of this will improve business. They even explain how people are going to react in certain situations and what gets them emotionally invested. But nothing about how dynamic people are and some days we feel strong and powerful and other days… worthless. What about people that have attributes of multiple boxes? How are they supposed to be treated? Who should they not work with? To me, it just seems like they wrote this book to try and get people to pay for their version of a personality quiz. Then you can blame your bad behaviors on something else.
Excellent new look at personalities. Charles takes a new approach by not only helping you discover your personality type but also giving insight into how your personality can best relate to the others. Easy to read and super information!!
