This one was a really good, suspenseful novel involving the cartel, hired killers, and more! Could totally see this as a movie too!

It was a very unique story- don’t feel like I’ve read something like it before. The plot kept me intrigued the entire time!

I really enjoyed the different POVs and having insight into the perspective of both the “good” guys and the “bad” guys. I also loved that the “chapters” were broken out by the different days/times.

Overall a very well-written story that I enjoyed! Recommend checking it out!🖤

Poor Grant. He had no idea what he was signing up for when he accepted what his uncle willed to him.

This book was a fun ride from beginning to end. Our unassuming protagonist just wanted to start his life over in Vegas only to be taken on the ride of his life. Grant is a lovable character, and enjoyable to get to know throughout the story. And what a story it is. The cartel, secret dealings, killers hired to hire killers, low-ranking cops poking around where they shouldn’t…it all makes for a solid mob crime family mystery. I loved the different perspectives from Grant, Lucas, and Tracy that fit all the pieces of the puzzle together. But the real twist is at the very end, and you may or may not see it coming. I also loved the side story involving Tracy’s neurotic and narcissistic mother, Shelly, whose unreliability makes her story more sticky to figure out. It also gives more of depth and backstory to Tracy.

The one thing that kind of threw me was the addition of a couple of characters for just one chapter each. It made following along with the complex storyline a bit more confusing at times, and their perspective could have been rolled into another main character’s plot line. I just felt those extra chapters didn’t really need to be in the book. There was already a lot going on that was working.

Despite that wrinkle, I really enjoyed this novel. It was a nice Ocean Elevenesque trip book that kept you engaged and entertained all the way through. 4.25 stars.

Kyle Wolfson does it again! I was first introduced to the author during the debut of his last novel DERT. The Vegas Flop is a completely different tale that was right up my alley.

Vegas, casinos, cartel murder plots, and multiple POVs. The Vegas Flop has the all the perfect ingredients for a thrilling crime book. We see the story from 4 different characters points of view. The Detective, the Assassin, the Agent, and the Dealer. This allows readers insight into more than just the murder for hire story. I enjoyed the complexity of the different characters and how the story lines twisted and blended together by the end. If you're looking for an exciting thriller with a shiny Vegas back drop, I definitely recommend it! Thanks Kyle!

Thank you for allowing me to read this story to give my thoughts on it.

This thriller follows different POVs of the characters which I enjoy because you get different perspectives throughout the whole story. You get to see the pov from the good guys and bad. It’s based in Las Vegas so I loved how it was pretty specific on locations, it makes it easy to visualize.

A lot happens throughout the whole story, I don’t want to give spoilers. I enjoyed reading something different from my normal. I highly recommend checking this book out!

(I took a bit longer to finish because the font was a tad small but that’s a ME problem😅)

This was definitely a thriller that encompasses alot of things I love in a great book, including being fast paced!

It's great for fans of Knives Out, Freida McFadden, and The Lucky Number Slevin!

The whole story is told over the course of 11 days. It's also told in multiple POVs, which I always love! They are very different POVs, which makes this a very interesting read as well.
Also, who doesn't love a book set in good ol Sin City, Vegas, Nevada?

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

In the neon-lit heart of Las Vegas, where fortunes are won and lost, Kyle K. Wolfson deals us a hand of suspense, intrigue, and high-stakes danger in his novel, “The Vegas Flop.” With a backdrop as glittering as the Strip itself, this action-packed thriller invites readers to place their bets on a game where the stakes are life and death.

Summary and characters:
Meet Lucas Green, a specialist assassin with a unique talent: orchestrating deaths to appear as accidents. Crashed cars, overdoses, and road rage—these are the tricks up his sleeve. When cartel boss Carlos Guerra orders him to eliminate Grant Anderson, Lucas faces a seemingly straightforward task. But in the labyrinthine world of Las Vegas, nothing is ever simple.

Grant, the unsuspecting target, has just inherited a real estate business from his late Uncle Paul Sherman. Little does he know that Paul’s dealings with the local cartel run deep. As Grant grapples with a house piled high with trash and loneliness far from his family, he becomes entangled in a web of danger.

Enter Detective Tracy Cook, a newly minted Las Vegas detective. She senses the subtle ties between Paul Sherman and the cartels, even if no one else believes her. Her off-the-books investigation leads her straight to Grant and his mysterious neighbor, Lucas Green.

My review:
Wolfson masterfully weaves these characters’ lives together, creating a collision course of competing interests. As the clock ticks, the tension escalates. Who will emerge victorious—the detective, the real estate agent, the assassin, or the drug dealer? In a city where secrets are currency and alliances shift like desert sands, the answer remains uncertain.

The Vegas Flop is a rollercoaster ride through the underbelly of Sin City. Wolfson’s writing crackles with authenticity, and his characters leap off the page. The unconventional premise —a killer who stages accidents—adds a fresh twist to the thriller genre. As the plot unfolds, you’ll find yourself rooting for unlikely heroes and questioning allegiances.

This book was a fun ride from beginning to end. The pacing keeps you hooked, and the twists and turns will leave you breathless. Whether you’re a seasoned gambler or a first-time visitor to Vegas, this novel is a sure bet. Highly recommended for fans of suspense, mystery, and anyone who loves a good gamble.

In The Vegas Flop, the house doesn’t always win. Sometimes, it’s the players who hold all the aces. 🎲🌟

AD-PR PRODUCT

An engaging and easy to read crime thriller! 🔥

This was a really interesting read and I enjoyed it. I’ve never read a thriller that is predominantly set in Las Vegas, so I liked the fresh feel to this book.

Lucas Green is an assassin who uses unconventional methods to kill his targets, making them look accidental or framing someone else. Grant Anderson is Lucas’ current target who has recently moved to Las Vegas to take over his late Uncle’s real estate business. What Grant is unaware of is the deep roots his uncle had to the local cartel. Detective Tracy cook is trying to unravel the crimes. Will Lucas be successful?

This crime thriller was unique in style, but had lots of thrilling elements to it. I liked how it contained multiple POVs so we heard from Lucas, Grant, Tracy and the cartel. The chapter lengths were varied, but the book was so easy to read. The setting also added another great layer to this book. I loved the bright Vegas lights and its contrast to the desert.

I wasn’t immediately drawn in upon starting, however, this soon changed. I was intrigued with how the story would unfold and what Tracy would uncover. It’s strange how I was rooting more for Lucas than Grant, but I think it’s because you get to know Lucas from the very first page.

There were quite a few characters and some of their names were similar, so I found myself having to focus on who was who at times. I did like how each character had a different prominent personality though.

The plot was well constructed and I didn’t predict a few aspects. I think everything happened quite quickly at the end and a few things weren’t tied up perfectly, but I did enjoy this book and loved that final twist!

A huge thanks to @kylekwolfsonwritings for this ARC of The Vegas Flop which is out now and is also available on Kindle Unlimited! 💙

Also, I learnt what a Ding Dong is! 🤣 (I was thinking more of a 🍆 until it said you shouldn’t eat one for breakfast with a Coke! 🤭)

*I received a free ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review*

The premise sounded really clever so I was excited to see what this book had to offer. For the most part, this book delivers as promised in that there are multiple storylines that all converge and work pretty well together. There are a few chapters that I felt could have been removed with no damage to the overall story (ex. the IKEA chapter - it seemed more like this was something the author had actually witnessed and was looking for a way to write it into one of his books, it does nothing for character or plot development and the humor of it falls pretty flat). Grant has got to be the luckiest person ever - despite Lucas's best attempts at setting him up for an accidental death he just keeps coming out of it okay. And considering he spends about half the book traumatized by the events from the break-in I was a little thrown by how quickly he snaps out of it and goes buy himself a new gun. My biggest complaint about the book is that by the end it just feels too unresolved. A good portion of Tracy's storyline is about helping with the investigation at her mother's casino but we never get to learn who was behind it all and why they were framing her mother. Also, does Tracy get to solve the case involving the house flipping scheme or does that all go away now that the main players in it are all dead? Does Grant get to keep all the money? And when exactly did Lucas realize where that money was hidden? The big double-cross reveal at the end was a nice twist, but considering Lucas had been trying to kill Grant (for reasons I still don't fully understand) it was a little disappointing that he got away with everything. I hate a book that leaves the reader with so much unfinished business.

Lucas is an assassin with a unique skill in orchestrating deaths that look like accidents. He has just been assigned to kill Grant Anderson, the very normal (kind of boring) nephew of a real estate agent who has just passed away. Grant finds out his uncle, Paul, left him everything. The real estate business, his house, and all the crap that comes with it (literally). Grant packs up his life and heads to Las Vegas. What he doesn't realize is the business is crumbling and his uncle should've been on an episode of Hoarders.

Meanwhile, Tracy, a newly minted Las Vegas Detective, starts an off-the-book investigation into Paul. She has a good feeling he was connected to the cartels in the area. No one really puts any stock into this theory, but Tracy knows she's onto something. The investigation leads her to Grant Anderson and his new neighbor Lucas Green. They will have to race the clock and each other to find out who will end up on top.

I really enjoyed this story! I was hooked from the very beginning. There were a lot of characters to keep up with, but the multiple POVs made it easy and offered unique perspectives from both sides. I loved all of the descriptions of Las Vegas. It made it easier to visualize and helped me feel as if I was there watching the action.

It was awesome to see how the pieces of the puzzle came together. I thought I had it all figured out, but the twist at the end got me. I am very impressed with this debut novel!

I would suggest this to anyone looking for a twisty, action-packed thriller.

Great storytelling!

This book started strong and kept on going. There wasn't a single moment where I was bored. I'm not a gambler, but neither are any of the characters in this story really. I enjoy how it shows a completely different side of Las Vegas. It's like a story idea I have to show different sides of New Orleans. Everyone things the Strip when they thing of Vegas, and the French Quarter/Bourbon Street when they think of New Orleans. I know from personal experience that New Orleans has so much more to offer. I'm sure that's true of Vegas, too!

Off the top of my head I can't really think of a character I didn't like - except the "bad guys," in charge. The ethics in this one were a bit complex, with one of our main characters sort of being a bad guy, but somehow still being a little loveable. Or maybe I was just in a really weird mood when I read this book.

I've never been to Vegas, and I haven't really read or watched much about Vegas before, until the past year - and this is the fifth book I've read related to Vegas. Intriguingly I have real life connections - I have some family that I've never met yet that live there! Feels a little karmic, like the world is telling me something.

I love a multiple POV books. This one almost stretched my limit, but I was just able to keep up with all the characters. Luckily it didn't add time jumps or I'd have lost it!

What a great book. Unbelievable for a first novel. Written in a style that seems to be coming more common these days, that is each chapter told from the perspective of one of the characters, and what great characters they are, even down to a lesser one namely 'Mum'.
The story follows an assassin, a detective, a drug dealer and a real estate agent. One highly professional and ruthless, one driven to succeed in her job, one ruthless and one a poor innocent caught up in a situation that was beyond his capabilities to handle, given he still did ok in a couple of critical situations. I really liked all the characters and felt they blended together really well as each with their own agendas sped towards an inevitable clash, even 'Deputy, the dog' played his role.
The story bubbled along at a nice pace with no real flat spots. It really held my interest all the way through with a nice plot twist thrown in.
This story reads like one that would make a great plot for a movie.
OK so who wins in the end? This is Vegas, anyone could. This book is certainly a great throw of the dice for anyone looking for an interesting read in a thriller/crime/mystery vein.
I was provided with a complementary copy of the book for evaluation which I happily and freely provide. Certainly recommend this one.

I was very lucky to receive an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and here are my thoughts!

This was an incredibly fast paced and engaging thriller, that I breezed through pretty much in one sitting. The plot was easy to follow but still engaging, and managed to leave several mysteries unresolved, practically until the final pages, which kept you guessing all the way though.

The characters were great! This book managed to achieve a balance that many books with multiple POVS struggle with and that’s between consistent quality of the writing and personality. Often in books of this type one character feels more compelling than another, or the backstory for a character feels unfinished leaving their actions without a clear motive beyond forwarding the plot but that wasn’t the case in this book. Lucas may have been the highlight of the book for me at least but I equally enjoyed reading Grant and Tracy’s perspectives as well. Though the best character was undoubtedly Deputy!!

Overall a really fun and interesting thriller that’s fast paced enough to be finished by most readers in under a day. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read or looking to get into the thriller genre. Thank you again to Kyle K Wolfson for providing me a early copy of this book!!

This book was a book from 4 different POV’s.

When I initially went into the book I was like “oh no different POV scare me because I sometimes get confused.

We have The Assassin, The Detective (who was my fav), The Dealer and The Agent. Each person in his novel was so unique and held a very important piece to the story which made me realize as I was getting further into the story.

I have to give this story a 3.5 star because the beginning was not very eye grabbing for me; it didn’t make me like open eyes or like have a real life reaction which is something I expect out of a thriller most of the time.

The plot within the story picked up, I liked how it wasn’t traditional chapters; it focused on days and times.

Learning about Vegas was great as well because it made everything that happened come together in my head.

Well written and this is a book I would definitely recommend others who are looking for some Vegas history and some cartel, brothel, money laundering vibes.

Thank you to the author for a digital copy of this book. The opinions are my own and freely given.

This is the story of Lucas, who is an assassin and has been hired by the cartel to kill Grant. This is the story of Grant who moves into his uncles home, after his uncle has been found dead, and takes over his real estate business. This is the story of Tracy, a police detective who was a client of Grant's uncle and befriends Grant to get information about his uncle and any ties he had with the cartel.

I REALLY like this book. It was pretty much non-stop. Set in Las Vegas with the desert, the casinos, the shows and the drug dealers. Lucas' niche is to assassinate someone but either make it look like an accident or be able to get someone else to actually do the killing. It is fascinating to me to see how Lucas sets up "accidents". As I was reading this, I could see it as a movie. I would recommend this book.

“The Vegas Flop" delivers a riveting rollercoaster ride through the bright lights of Las Vegas, where danger lurks at every turn. With its multiple POV format, readers are immersed in the intricate lives of four key characters: Lucas, the ruthless assassin; Grant, the unwitting target; Carlos, the seasoned dealer; and Tracy, the rookie detective. As Grant settles into Vegas, unaware of his uncle's cartel ties, the Cartel hires Lucas in a deadly game of murder-for-hire to reclaim their stolen money. Meanwhile, Detective Tracy learns of Paul’s cartel connections. Her ambition drives her to launch an off-the-books investigation, leading her directly to Grant and his neighbor, Lucas. The story unfolds with precision, keeping readers guessing until the very end!

Lucas Green is a professional hitman with a twist. He makes his kills look like accidents or random street crime. This of course takes careful planning, which he excels at. Lucas is always thinking.

So bonus points for an original (at least to me) concept.

Definite Elmore Leonard vibes.

One first person and multiple third persons POV is tricky to pull off, but it worked—most of the time.

There's an abrupt shift in one character's emotional state that I didn't quite buy.

And the subplot involving one of the major character's mother felt forced.

But once you accept the premises and the characters, the story rocks.

I was satisfied with the ending.

I received an advance review copy for free from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Received book for a voluntary ARC review.

Grant Anderson moves to Las Vegas to take over the inheritance from his uncle, Paul Sherman. He meets his neighbor, Lucas Green, who is associated with real estate, like Grant—or so it seems.
Lucas is actually an assassin working for Carlos Guerra, a member of the Cortez cartel. Carlos wants Grant killed because they need him out of the way to recover the money stolen from them by Paul.
So begins the dance that should lead to Grant’s death, but what ensues is a wild ride through Vegas, complete with plenty plot twists.
The ending is not what you expect, but it’s a satisfying one.
The book is fun and enjoyable.

Lucas Green has been hired by a cartel boss, Carlos, to kill Grant Anderson. This should be relatively simple given Lucas’s work, but he’s trained to make these deaths look like an accident. Grant Anderson doesn’t seem like a likely target for assassination, however his deceased Uncle Paul was tied in with Carlos somehow. To make matters even messier, cop, Tracey, makes her way into the folds investigating something fishy with old Paul.

I enjoyed the fast paced action of the story and felt myself flying through it. There were a lot of characters to remember and keep track of, and in the end the different story lines get a little blurred. But all in all a fun, action packed read.

This was such a fun read! Set in Las Vegas this is an assassin for hire story with a twist, the assassin doesn’t actually do the killing. The book is told from multiple points of view so readers are treated to what the different characters are thinking. There are a lot of characters and the relationships between them aren’t always immediately clear, but when the connections are revealed things begin to make sense. I enjoyed the unexpected connections and the unique way the assassin functioned and I did not see the end coming! If you are a fan of crime or heist novels I recommend this book.

A really good story. I first thought it was just going to be about a hired killer, but then it turned out to be so much more. A Vegas Detective Tracy Cook begins to look into the dealings of her real estate agent about the house she bought. It becomes more interesting when she finds he is dead and his nephew has taken over the business. Things still begin to change when the man hired to kill the nephew fails a few times, just by luck on the victim's part. This just adds to the story and keeps you going as the reader. What got me though was the ending I did not see that coming and that made for a good book. An excellent story with excellent characters, very much worth the read.

An action packed and fast spaced story, centered around a hitman with a special talent for making deaths look natural, the poor soul he is tasked with killing, and a cop who finds herself somehow caught in the middle.

The story reads well, is told from varying perspectives and keeps the reader engaged. It's difficult to believe it's a first novel for this writer! My only suggestion is that is could have had one more pass through an editor. Otherwise, it was a highly engaging story.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

This story is told by a few different POV’s the assassin,The Detective, The Dealer, & The Agent.
It takes place in Las Vegas which is like a character itself.
The plot unfolds as if there’s a race against time and with each other.
But which one will win.?
It’s like a suspenseful showdown between the characters.
This book is suspenseful mystery with some real interesting characters and some unexpected twists that had me guessing.

Four major players: the Assassin, the Real Estate Agent, the Detective, and the Drug Dealer all converge in sweltering Vegas, racing against time to achieve their individual directives. Whether they work together or against one another, the antics are WILD!

The way this is written, the full cast, and the completely unique voice given to each character was phenomenally done! This is a roller coaster from start to finish and I really enjoyed it.

How often do you root for the assassin?
Our four main characters are the detective, the assassin, the agent, and the dealer. Chapters alternate between the four. Friendships are made (or are they?), a mystery or two develops, and you can just feel the sweltering heat of Las Vegas.

The story really picked up about a third of the way in, after a lot of description. By then, you're invested and want to keep going to see where the story goes.

I hope to read more about the assassin and his next job.

This is a Las Vegas thriller that is actually very well done. Since I have lived in the Las Vegas area on and off since the 1960's I'm pretty judgmental about books using the location. Kyle did live in the valley for several years and the book is fairly well tuned to life here. This is not a book you would read a bit here and there, and not lose track, sure you know they type you can do that with, you do need to pay attention here but it's a well-developed story....

4.5 stars! I LOVED this book. It had me hooked immediately! I want it to be a movie so bad and I can picture it as a Wolf of Wall Street style movie with the narration. Thank you @lovebookstours for the copy of The Vegas Flop by Kyle Wolfson.

This was a fun multi faceted book. It was action packed. With the multiple points of view, you ended up rooting for all of the characters. I liked how you got to hear from each character and it was told in real time for each character. It kept up the suspense and you didn’t know who was going to come out on top at the end. It was also like a secret, the reader knows more about how the characters were linked than the characters. Grand was my favorite character and he was really well described, from accepting his uncle’s dumpy house and business and not knowing what is in store for him. This book reminded me a lot of breaking bad with the mix up with the cartel and how you can’t trust anyone.
