The last place in the world I want to be is Tuft Swallow. When I left ten years ago, I never planned on coming back. In fact, I cut off all contact with everyone except Aunt Jane... but now Aunt Jane needs help and I have to return to the little town I grew up in. And from the second I cross the town lines, my world gets flipped upside down. I knew I shouldn't have come back. Nothing good can come from being in the same town as my ex-husband.

She's been the love of my life for as long as I can remember. When she walked away from me with only a letter to explain things, I stopped living and started existing. When she crashes back into town unexpectedly, I know I can't let her go this time. I need to show her she belongs here. Prove she belongs with me. I know I can't go on living without her... but how do you convince your wife to date you again?

10 years ago, Delilah's friend told her that her husband was having an affair. Her proof was that he was meeting strange women in a public place in a very small town with a large number of excessively nosy individuals. So, as all rational humans do, she left town without a word to anyone.

Now, she's back, and her ex-husband is acting like he still loves her and has no idea why she left him. And even though she can never forgive him, she's quite happy to give him mixed messages, but she can't just can't tell him that she knows about him cheating. Which, weirdly, none of the large number of excessively nosy individuals seem to have had an inkling of.

Honestly, I was put off this book at 5% when the fucking tedious FMC stamps her widdle foot in anger, but nothing redeemed it. Also, what do cockatoos have to do with the price of fish?

This second chance small town romance was a delight to read with its fabulous cast of characters, witty banter and small town vibes. Delilah and Jonah have a past and That’s Cockatoo Much takes you on a journey on discovering that past. I adored the nod to Bridgerton with the gossip page Nosy Pecker. I really enjoyed this story and hopefully we get to discover more of Tuft Swallow. I received a complementary copy.

I enjoyed the humour and the 'will they / won't they get back together?' in this heated romance but I felt the plot line as to why they parted was stretched thin.

That's Cockatoo Much by Kristin MacQueen is the first book in a shared world series, with stories written by seven different authors.

Delilah left Tuft Swallow ten years ago and as she never planned on coming back she cut off all contact with everyone except with her Aunt Jane. Unfortunately Aunt Jane needs help running her salon so Delilah is returning to keep the business running.

Entering the town she manages to make quite a stir... crashing a police patrol vehicle to avoid a goat walking on the hight street...

Jonah is the police chief and Delilah's ex husband and he has never stopped loving her - even after one of his patrol cars gets crashed into on her unexpected return to town.

Mis communication, hastily drawn conclusions, second chances, small town life and GOSSIP by the Tit Peepers, make this story a real hoot (pun intended...).

"This woman always was the sole focus of my attention, how did I live without her for so long? You didn’t, you idiot. You existed without her. You stopped living ten long years ago."

PS. The authors must have had so much fun coming up with all the (somewhat) corny bird related names and puns!! I'm looking forward to the rest of the series to find out more about this adorable town!

Other books in the Tuft Swallows series:
That's Cockatoo Much - Kristin MacQueen (print 20 April, ebook 7 May 2024)
Tit Me With Your Best Shot - Chantal Roome
Flock and Roll - Vicki Hilton
Don't Give A Cluck - Karigan Hale
Fowl Play - Cassandra Medcalf
This Is Hawkward - Joelle Evans
No Egrets - Susan Renee

The books will be released throughout May to August.

First, let me say that I LOVED this story. It was funny, fun, exceedingly entertaining, well-written, and the characters were really engaging. It's maybe my favorite Kristin MacQueen story so far. She has a real knack for writing sweet and interesting characters that I just know I'd love to be friends with; and this story was absolutely top form. I feel that way about all the characters in this story, and I 100% recommend this for a slightly spicy, slightly emotional, and charming romcom read. I am most assuredly looking forward to more stories in this series.

That being said, Delilah pushes soooooooooooo many buttons for me. She's an awesomely written character, who is funny and clumsy and—through Jonah's eyes—has a lot of redeeming, charming qualities, but she's also kind of awful and there were moments where I didn't want to root for her to get a HEA just for her own sheer selfishness and impulsive, immature behavior—she's not mean or evil or rude or even a bad person and because of her age, I could even see why she did what she did (at first); but she made several insane choices which could have been corrected any number of times but she did; and people just welcomed her back when she returns because they loved her, and that was frustrating from a "IRL perspective". BUT that's actually what I love about Kristin's writing; even with all my frustration with this character and her actions, I still wanted to see it all work out for everyone involved (particularly Jonah, who is possibly the most understanding and forgiving person in fiction, ever).

Who does not want a guy build your dream house?

When Lilah in That’s Cockatoo Much by Kristin MacQueen returns to her hometown after ten years to take care of her aunt, she runs into her ex husband, who has not forgotten her and who still loves her.

From the very first page I was laughing, because this is a really funny but also very romantic book. Lilah is a bit awkward and gets right into a humorous situation when she arrives. She is adorable and I really felt for her. Her ex, Chief of police Jonah is a great character. He is to swoon over, as he still loves her and has never understood why Lilah went away without any explanation. I wanted so badly for them to be together, they were just perfect for each other. They have a great chemistry.

The story-line is so romantic and the mystery why Lilah ran away, is a great misunderstanding. This romance in a small town I just loved. The writing style is great, flowing and the dual POV helps the story going. You can feel every emotion, the pain and heartbreak. I loved the POV of Jonah the most, as he still loves Lilah and has waited like forever for her to come home again. I had a really hard time putting the book down.

This book is an amazing read, it’s a really sweet cute romance story, with wonderful characters, in a great setting. This is the first book about the small town Tuft Swallow and I can’t wait to read more about it, and I definitely will read more books by Kristin MacQueen.

Highly recommended!

That's Cockatoo Much is the first book in a multi author series about a small town called Tuft Swallows. This was truly a story about the problem of miscommunication in any relationship.

Delilah misunderstood something ten years ago and this has led to a lot of pain and suffering of the heart. She finally goes back to her small town to help her Aunt recover from a surgery. She is a completely stubborn and tough woman. She really tries to fight her feelings for Jonah as she feels she can't trust him anymore. But she needed to have more faith in him and learn to discuss things instead of jumping to conclusions.

Jonah just wanted answers of why his wife left him ten years ago. He has been living a shell of himself and has been waiting for her to come back. When he sees Delilah he realizes he needs to understand why she left him all those years ago, so he can recover and move on with his life. But the heart wants what the heart wants.

This was a great book showing how even time and space doesn't diminish the love you can have for someone. Sometimes you just need to talk things out and see what went wrong and work together to fix the mistakes. Miscommunication is a major problem which causes a lot of issues and this was a good way to show that you can't hold onto things for so long. You need to solve the problem to move on from it.

Delilah and Jonah were happily married, until Delilah was told something about Jonah. Then she just took off. She didn’t even question him!?! The ten years they were apart could have easily never happened if she had just been honest with Jonah! And for his part, Jonah could have mention to the person who told Delilah the information that resulted in her leaving what was really going on and to keep it a secret until he was ready to reveal everything to Delilah. So much precious time wasted!!!

I LOVED Jonah! He was sweet and sexy and just wanted the love of his life back! While I wanted to like Delilah…it was hard to get past her actions. She was childish to just leave and not give Jonah a chance to explain!!! She did start to grow on me towards the end, but Jonah was the main attraction in this book! The nosy old townspeople were hysterical! I loved a lot of the secondary characters and I’m interested to see what will happen with Pecker and Mel, and I’m super curious about Winston’s hot daddy and what his story is!!!.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. Delilah has to return to her home town after being away for 10 years to help her Aunt Jane. Delilah left town 10 years ago after believing her ex husband, Jonah had cheated on her. Delilah is funny, clumsy character that outside of her poor decision making is a good character. What I don't like about her is that she ups and believes what she was told about her husband without talking or asking him first before acting like a spoiled child and running away - grow up. If someone told me something about my spouse, first I want proof and secondly I sure as heck would confront him to find out. If at that point I felt something was off I would deal with it like an adult and move on not runaway.

Jonah, i liked from the get go and I was a little sad that he was so hung up on a person that did not deserve his loyalty....but the heart wants what it wants. Jonah is determined not to let Delilah get away again. He is going to prove that they belong together. Also, he wants to know why she left him?

Will Delilah realize she made a mistake and give their love a second chance?

This is the 1st book in the multi-author Tuft Swallow series featuring the hilarious forced proximity rom-com second chance small-town romance between Jonah and Delilah. Delilah is returning to her hometown after being gone for 10yrs because her Aunt Jane needs her help. The reason Delilah left to begin with was because she thought that her husband Jonah cheated on her. Of course her return doesn't go without incident when she collides with the chest of the Chief of Police who just so happens to be her ex-husband. Jonah who still refers to Delilah as his wife has no clue why she even left him in the first place 10yrs ago since she never bothered to respond when he called or texted her. Jonah is still in love with Delilah he never stopped loving her and he's determined not to let her go again. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this hilarious forced proximity, rom-com, second chance, small-town romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

This is my first time reading a Kristin MacQueen book but most definitely not my last. This was an enjoyable and entertaining read from the first page to the last. Delilah never thought she would come back to Tuft Swallow but when Aunt Jane needs help return, she does. She runs into Jonah upon her return, and it makes for quite an interesting first interaction that leads to several more. It's obvious these two still care about each other but Delilah is stubborn and won't admit why she left town and Jonah. Jonah honestly has no idea why she left him, and he wants his wife back. The whole town seems to want these two back together. The entertainment will keep you turning the pages and finally Delilah admits to why she left then let the real fun begin. I love the names in this book/series. I truly was laughing out loud at some of the names. I'm looking forward to reading my next book by Kristin and the next book in this series.

I received an ARC copy of this book.

I loved the witty banter back and forth between Jonah and Delilah; it was just delicious - with parts making me physically laugh out loud! (I’m looking at you, sexual innuendos!) And don’t get me started on the nod to Bridgerton with the “Nosy Pecker”. Loved it!

I fell head over heels for Jonah. My heart broke for him, as he truly seemed at a loss for what made his marriage fall apart. If I had ONE little complaint, and I mean little, it would be that Delilah left without confirming anything, without confronting Jonah. She just ran. And to wait 10 years to clear the air….it just irritated me.

Otherwise, this book was well written, easy to follow, hard to put down and simply delightful! Looking forward to reading more from this author and hopefully this town!

That’s Cockatoo Much by Kristin MacQueen is the perfect classic small town story with memorable characters, heartache, lots of humor, and love!

Delilah makes her entrance into Tuft Swallow in a big way after being gone for 10 years and draws the attention of the Chief of Police, who has been waiting for her return.

I enjoyed this rom-com. It was a quick, easy read with a strong and sassy FMC and a hot, sweet MMC. The secondary characters were so memorable for different reasons and added a lot to the story!

The storyline was good and kept me interested, pacing was good. The end felt a little abrupt, however the questions I needed answered were answered, I just wanted maybe a little epilogue! I didn’t want it to end there! I recommend for a small town rom-com, second chance with some spice and a HEA!

Tuft Swallow is a quirky little town and is the centre of a new multi-author series. Kristin Macqueen starts us off with a second chance romance, featuring Delilah and Jonah.
Miscommunication led to this couple separating ten years ago. Being back in the same small town, Delilah can’t avoid Jonah and she also can’t deny the feelings she still has for him.
Jonah wants answers, but knows this is the second chance he needs to reclaim his wife.
I really loved Jonah, he is such a sweetheart. I wanted to yell at Delilah at times and those moments pulled at my heartstrings.
Well paced, fun, witty, romantic and overall an easy read. This is a rom-com so expect the cute humour and funny puns.
The characters obviously get a HEA, but the journey is a great read and I’m looking forward to more from Tuft Swallow.

Thank you to the author.

📚: That’s Cockatoo Much by Kristin Macqueen

Tropes:
👉 Small Town
👉 Second Chance
👉 Forced Proximity

TWs 😟:

Main Takeaway 🏹: A fun start to the series!

Synopsis 📜: Delilah never thought she’d return to her hometown after leaving in a hurry thinking her husband cheated on her. Now that she’s back, she’s having trouble resisting her hot husband and avoiding their past.

Personal Thoughts 🤔: I could have been Delilah in another life. I would have absolutely reacted the same way to finding out my husband cheated on me. And then I would have avoided talking to him about it when I returned to town. She’s so easy to understand but so is Jonah. He held onto hope and never stopped believing Delilah would return to him one day and that’s the kind of man every woman deserves! This story was so fun, despite the heartache and I can’t wait to learn more about this quirky little town.

I can relate to not wanting to return to a certain place, my reasons and her don't match. But like her it took something important to take me back, as with her. Her Aunt Jane is her one and only reason to go back to this town. She wished like heck she never did.
With everything that happen in her past be able to stay there. Will the people in the town allow it to stay in her past. Wouldn't you like to know what happen? Guess what I won't tell you, come read this book and go on the journey to find out. Smile...
I will say in the end it was a good thing for her, as it was for me. Never say never.. sometimes you have to come to terms with issues in your past to be able to fully move on in the future.

Delilah is returning to her home town to help her Aunt Jane out while she's having and recovering from hip replacement surgery. What does she NOT want to do as soon as she arrives back in town? Well, run into her ex-husband, Jonah, that she hasn't seen in 10 years. But of course, the universe and Murphy's Law have other plans...

I loved this story, and our introduction to Tuft Swallow. Delilah and Jonah's history is so sweet, and their story is so heart-wrenching, and builds to be so heart-warming. A truly heartwarming read...

And I'm looking forward to the rest of the Tuft Swallow Shared World series... I really hope we see more of Winston, and that his Dad gets a story arc...

In this story we have a second chance at love, between Delilah and Jonah.
They were married, until one event took them appart, and made Lilah run away to get away from him and her small town. They spend several years appart and after 10 years she has to come back to help her aunt due to health issues.
It all seems simple enough, until they run into each other. It is clear of their feeling tonone another and it was sweet to see their commitement to each other even though they were apart and weren't a couple any more

It was a really sweet and fun read. I adored the banter between both main characters, and the perkiness of this small town. It was a very good start to this series and I completly recommend it to everyone who wants to have a good time and a few laughs.

This book takes place in Tuft Swallow and there are so many bird puns through the book. Lilah is returning home after running from her husband when she heard rumors instead of talking to him. Her Aunt Jane needs her help while she recovers from a hip replacement. Her first minutes home have her literally crashing into town and Jonah her ex. Jonah never knew why she left and never stopped loving her. Even though she was the one to leave she never got over him either. These two have a lot to figure out and the local Tit Peepers, a bunch of seniors who claim to be bird watching but are just using it as an excuse to be nosey and write about it in the local paper, make keeping their relationship status a secret until they figure it out themselves.

4 Stars on plots idiocy.

I’m truly addicted to the whole series, for sure!!! The chuckles do not stop . Noisy Tit Peepers is a hoot!! But the author makes out Lilah to be an idiot and mostly an airhead, seriously, who does that ? And don’t say she was young , therefore she’s allowed not to even bother to see if there is any truth besides gossip. Let me just stop there … The plot is absolutely stupid, the storyline concerning Jay made him out to be begging. Anyone would be royally pissed if one’s spouse left for ten years and came back to town for another family member . Please I do hope there will not be any more of this type of stories. It’s embarrassing! But all in all i enjoyed the rest of it.

This book was so sweet, funny, and full of drama! I loved the storyline and how everything turned out. The talk about the small town of Tuft Swallow cracks me up, especially knowing that small towns are exactly like this. Jonah and Delilah have so much stuff they need to work out but in order to do that, they need to have an open and honest talk. Delilah's aunt has a soft spot for Jonah and doesn't hide her feelings or thoughts about their relationship. I love how they call the nosy older generation, Tit Peepers. This was a great story and I can't wait to read the other books about this little town and the nosy neighbors!

This is book 1 in MacQueen's new series Tuft Swallow. A delightful start to a new series. This book was a great second chance romance with the best small town vibes and great characters. Add to that the witty banter and humor as well as the romance and this was a win for me! Our main characters are Delilah and Jonah and this story shows just how much pain can be had from a misunderstand/ miscommunication. I loved this read and I really can't wait to see what will be next!

I received an ARC copy of this short and sweet romance. Tuft Swallow is a quirky little town with so many interesting characters. Delilah and Jonah are obviously meant to be even if it takes them some time to get back together. After a big miscommunication, they split up for 10 long years. Their banter was entertaining and my heart broke for Jonah- I don't know how he waited for Delilah for so long and was so good to her. He was almost a little too perfect. I look forward to reading more books in the Tuft Swallow series.

This book is part of a multi author series that takes place in the small town of Tuft Swallow- yes you read that right! When you have police officers like Johnson, Pecker & Woodcock- you know it’s going to be a good time! I really enjoyed this book. I needed a light hearted read that was entertaining and this fit the bill. All of the characters were small town lovely- with their own quirks. If you’re looking for a quick, funny romance check this out! I’m looking forward to reading the other books in this series!

This is the first of a multiauthor series set in the town of Tuft Swallow. Ms. MacQueen has given us a second chance romance about Delilah, who is returning home after leaving 10 years ago, to help her (matchmaking) aunt, and Jonah, the reason she left home. Amongst the snarky comments, the chemistry between the two cannot denied and we eventually get our HEA. My favorite part of the book are the supporting characters and I can't wait to meet then again in future books.

A sweet rom-com with a dash of spice! This was a fun story about a second chance romance set in a small town full of nosy neighbors, friends and family doing everything they can to get these two back together. You can't help but smile throughout this whole book.

The MMC was a total gem. So thoughtful and caring, he had my heart the whole time. FMC took me a bit more to warm up to.
