What would you say to someone you love but didn't get the chance?

Shay is a bubbly high school senior who has plans for herself. After her mom finds a blog on Pinterest, Shay decides to write letters to two of her favorite people in her world. She marks each of the envelopes with when they should be opened and places them in a box for later.

Henry is the star of the baseball team, and Shay's boyfriend. With a full-ride scholarship to a university in California, these two love-birds plan to spend as much time together as possible. On the outside, Henry is a jock who loves superheroes and sports. On the inside, he's a big teddy bear.

Harper has a unique personality that Shay was drawn to in elementary school. Harper has never been one to conform to the latest fashion trends, often wearing mismatched outfits and her hair in wild, short, braids. She doesn't know what she wants to do with her life, but she does know that traveling the world with her BFF is at the top of her list.

As graduation approaches for these three inseparable friends, tragedy strikes. Henry walks away with a scar on his face and a bit of memory loss. Harper walks away, but will she ever be the same? Shay's dreams of the future are changed in a way she never anticipated. Join these three musketeers as they are put to the ultimate test of friendship.

This story spans a period of about twelve years. It deals with loss, friendship, family, anxiety, moving forward, and love. This is a clean contemporary romance that is suitable for young adults on up. Grab a tissue, a blanket, and your favorite beverage as you read through the letters from each of the three friends.

This story is a sweet sad one. It spans a period of approximately twelve years. I loved the story but nearly cried reading it.

Shay, Harper and Henry are three close friends. They are the three musketeers!

Tragedy strikes the three friends as graduation nears. Henry ends up with partial memory loss and a scar on his face. He does not remember Harper at all. Harper has few external injuries but is severely affected mentally. Shay's future changes. Things will never be the same again for her.

The story is told through letters written by the three friends to each other.

It's a heart wrenching story of young love, overcoming loss and coming out the other side.

I recommend this book.

Read this book with a box of tissues. Henry and Harper lost their best friend and his girlfriend Shay in a car accident and they haven’t been the same since. Shay wrote them letters before the accident to open at certain points in their lives and they separately write her back when they feel the need to connect with her and this book is written in that format of letters back and forth.. Henry has had a rougher time with panic attacks and later several not so great girlfriends. It seemed like his path should reconnect with Harper at some point but there’s so much he doesn’t remember including her.

Now I normally don’t go for these types of story formats and the letters, but this book was so sweet and I finished it in a day! For how short it is, I could’ve finished it in a sitting, and I really wanted too. lately I haven’t been able to sit and read for very long but this story was something else.

I enjoyed the different perspectives and at some point had tears in my eyes. from having experienced this type of thing first hand, it struck a chord in me that I never thought could. I highly recommend this sweet book, especially if you’re in a slump.

This is so good. It’s a work of art, told with heart. It’s heartbreakingly sad and uplifting too. It’s a myriad of emotions and feelings of loss ,yet they unexpectedly have her right there on the pages… when tragedy strikes there’s two friends out of three left picking up shards of their lives with one thing in common their relationship with Shay and each receiving a letter she wrote before things changed forever… beautifully written with awesome descriptions and great storytelling.i was forwarded this book and I’m leaving my review voluntarily in my own words.

I received this book as an Arc from the author and I’m leaving a voluntary review. This is remarkable work. Three friends are graduating with lofty goals. When a tragedy happens, everything changes. It’s a story about love, loss, redemption and finding your way. Highly recommended!

Life in Letters

Shay, Henry, and Harper were like the three musketeers. Always together. Shay and Henry were in love already in high school. Shay found an interesting thing online about writing letters for future events in the lives of her important people. So she writes to Henry and Harper . Just before they are graduating from high school, they are involved in a terrible accident. Henry and Harper are taken to the hospital, but Shay is DOA. Her death has a huge impact on both survivors. Therapists tell them to write letters to Shay to help grieve. Because of amnesia, Henry has no memory of Harper. This is an incredible approach to a story told in letters. Grab the tissues, but be prepared for a very good conclusion
I loved this book.

Let me start by saying this is not my usual genre to read but I was captivated by this poignant and heart-warming book. Written as a series of letters the pages fly by as your heart melts.
