Two brothers hunting monsters, solving mysteries, and facing the sinister landscape of a sentient city coming back to life—and having fun doing it.
Emmet
Who knew kickstarting a city's mystical mojo would cause such chaos? Reigniting the Embers of Existence has the Hidden City of Isilon buzzing like a beehive after a double espresso.
All thanks to yours truly.
With a tsunami of awakenings, the streets are teeming with ancient citizens, creatures and critters, and those squid-faced nasties—the Dark Weavers. The danger is ramping up and with the enemy adapting to everything we throw at them, the battle to secure the safety of our streets is getting desperate.
Brendan
Life is full of surprises—like coming back from the dead to babysit a city with a mind of its own. As if wrangling my jokester kid brother wasn't a full-time gig, now we've got a whole population of mythical and mystical beings to contend with.
And they're not all happy about the new management.
When Emmet and I uncover a secret so mind-blowing it will change the landscape of the war against the Dark Weavers, and the island itself, everyone must pull together. Our monster hunting and mystery solving days are far from over but when the dust settles…I’m not sure what that will mean for me and Emmet.
Dive back into the action with Clan Cumhaill and Team Trouble in book two, where the stakes are higher, the laughs are louder, and the adventures of the Cumhaill brothers hit full throttle.

About Auburn Tempest Auburn Tempest is a pen name for JL Madore, a multi-genre novelist giving life to Fantasy, Paranormal, and Sci-Fi Romance. Under the pen name, Auburn Tempest, she writes Urban Fantasy without the sexy-steamy. But whether Romance or not, she loves to twist Alpha heroes and kick-ass heroines into chaotic, hilarious, fast-paced, magical situations and make them really work for their happy endings.
She lives outside of Toronto, Canada with her love of over 35 years and a menagerie of family, friends, and animals.
Book two follows on with both brothers and boy are they getting a hard time in life and love interests.I do wonder if Emmett mate is one of the sisters maybe that's why they believed in him so much foretold that her mate would save them in the future? Anything is possible with magic and time travel and people alive again in this series. (Its great keeps you guessing) Emmett was childish still when he time travelled and met them, he has grown since, not sure about the first fae he comes across who he has happened to have casual sex with before is she like he use to be or ready to grow with him? (Feels like more hurt there) and poor bren it's clear from the start he loved the ghost that's heart breaking what further is there.Think his family is cruel to say about a white picket fence knowing ghosts can't have kids. This book is filled with adventure and magic action (poor bren) and family love but don't expect love more like longing love for these two guys. Great read a twist at the end.
This family continues to hold captive my attention!
I’m not sure if it’s actually Clan Cumhaill that holds my attention, or if it’s really Auburn’s way of characterizes and draws us into her characters’ emotions.
The Cumhaills embody such a tight-knit connection to one another, it’s impossible, one simply cannot stop oneself from loving them.
On the other hand, I firmly believe that Tempest’s true gift lies in how she describes emotions. The fact is, great there are very few emotions that we haven’t all experienced, and Tempest leans into that. Her word choices are perfect to evoke our own experiences.
And then there’s just a great story being told.
So take your pick. Just so you know, there at least 5 other reasons to pick up and enjoy book. Do yourself a favor, if you haven’t read the preceding books, do so first. There is just so much history that informs this story, you’re shortchanging yourself if you don’t.
Emmit has relit the city’s core and Isilon’s energy is charging up. The city is waking up and large group of the former citizens are coming out of hibernation. Unfortunately, this includes some of the enemy Dark Weavers who attack Emmit, hurting him badly. Leaving Brendan to fight them and, with Astrid’s help, work to reorient the awaking citizens and get settled into their old homes.
The search for, and battle with, the Dark Weaver is the main focus of this story, but the budding relationship between Brendan and Nightfall is the sweetest.
Fave scenes: the tiny friends, the overgrown city square, the little girl on the seashore and Emmitt reveling the controls.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the books in this world of druids and elementals (and all the other fae). This series is turning into one of my favorites because it focuses on two of the Cumhaill brothers and their struggles with being confined to the island city. It brings all of the main characters from the other books together to fight an enemy that wrought destruction to the city in the past. You’ll enjoy this book best if you read the other series first but it is not necessary. I’m looking forward to book 3 and the “rest of the story”.
Emmet and Brendan find themselves trying to defeat an old enemy, the Dark Weavers. At the same time the island is coming to live and so are a lot of the people that lived in it. This was an action packed, fun filled book. The characters are some of my favorites and span through 4 series. I look forward to Auburn Tempest books and they always land at the top of my tbr pile.
I would suggest going back and reading the rest of the series that takes place in the worlds that these authors have created, They do an excellent job building characters and putting them in interesting worlds and situations. They also do an excellent job of concentrating on the main characters while building supporting characters that you are equally invested in.
I like this one much better than Book 1. It seemed more cohesive and was easier to follow the planning and actions. The chapters do switch between Brendan and Emmet, so be prepared for that and pay attention to the chapter title which tells you which character is primary. Great to see Emmet getting into his stride magically. Also, to see both guys finding their "other halves" - so to speak. Plenty of action and plot advancement. Looking forward to Book 3.
I can’t believe it ended. I could happily read on all night. These books are so well written I get invested in the story and can’t believe I’ve reached the last page. I love the interaction with the family, the teasing between them all and the love they all share. Read it you won’t be disappointed.
Condgratulations to Auburn Tempest and Michael Anderle for this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such interesting and e,xciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.
I love the stories of Em and Brenny. Who am I kidding I love all the crew, friends, animals, and all the characters that these authors bring to life. I am so excited that the Urban Druid continues with the brothers. I just can’t wait to see if these two get their HEA. Awesome writing and amazing storytelling that never gets old. Happy Reading All.
I love the way the authors take the characters and have them grow in power, character, and yet stay who they intrinsically are. I have been following this family since Fi first broke a nose. Can't wait to see how Em and Brenny handle the next step.
Wonderful read! Auburn Tempest makes you feel like your there! The family she has created pulls you in to their happiness. There is never a dull moment.?
I just cannot get enough of these series from Auburn Tempest and Michael Anderle. They are fun, exciting and you never know what’s going to happen next. Get all of the series related to this one and just enjoy.
Dark Weavers are terrorizing the island draining fae essence is grotesque murders. Brendan and Em are in way over their heads trying to defeat a foe that destroyed the life on the island long ago. Great read, characters, and lots of magic.
Love the humor, banter, and strength of the characters. Laughed out loud with the description and brotherly banter when Brandon became "A living pinata."
I love all the books in this universe. From Chronicles of Urban Druid, Elementals and now Hidden City. They make me Laugh and cry and cheer with the characters.
Emmet and Brendan and the whole gang are back at it. Helping people and having fun - it was a great story. I enjoyed the twists and turns and look forward to the next book.
