This was an obvious AI book - which is both sad and annoying.

Title as a Lich, in reality it's a Wendingo

I am new to this author and while I enjoyed the one book I read, this one seriously went far to the left of the mark.

The most glaring issue is that the title using the word "Lich" is never used in the story. Instead, you are blind sided that the author uses the creature "Wendingo". This usage of Wendingos in fiction has been condemned from Native American tribes, a practice that should be respected considering the nature of this creature. It is the least we could do to a nation that has been so heavily decimated by white washing and erasure.

Secondly, the writing in this is just poor. Random time skips that have no continuity, dragging on situations, seemingly impossible maneuvers just to fluff the chapters and keep it going. It's just not a good plot line at all.

Overall very disappointed in this book.

I cannot believe I finished this. Should have been a DNF. I want to give it no stars but also want to see its rating drop because HOW IS THIS RATED SO HIGH??! 🤯🤯

Abrupt ending

Fun and somewhat light (for the topic) Primal Hunting read.

But that ending had me so disappointed. It's like it was just cut off in the middle of the chapter.

Women are being sacrificed as tribute but those that are taken don’t come back this is the tale of love against all odds. Arya is part of the group of women taken from her world to a word where she is beaten by those that man the prison she is kept in, forced to murder, all part of a game they play with the women and the winner is then thrown into the Ketraxe's jungles, with a bag, and a spear where she finds herself the target of a vicious beast who desires nothing more than to feed on her flesh what her captors didn’t know is that she is a survivor doing what she must. Arya is being hunted she doesn’t know what/who is hunting her, but she knows she is willing to do what needs to be done to survive. Echo the know beast because of his howls throughout the jungle, plays with his prey allowing them to think they have a chance but with each turn he watches her set traps in hopes of catching the beast. Echo admires her survivor instincts and as they play hide and seek, he grows to love her. He shows her there is more to him than just a beast and she sees exactly what he shows her being a friendship that blooms into something so much more making him want something more than just being a beast with his little survivor and protecting her, keeping her safe, has become his mission but is it enough for them to stop sending women his way to feed on their flesh, will they stop taking girl to abuse, to teach how to kill one another, and is there something more to this crazy world of tribute?

This was a fantastic read right up until the cliffhanger which I absolutely hate but now being invested in the storyline has me wanting desperately to find out what happens. Arya is a human female that has just been call up to be a Tribute along with 9 other females to go to the planet Ketraxe they believe they will be married off to aliens isn’t the case they are forced to play deadly games and become a killer to survive and be the winner at the end but being the winner means nothing because she is now thrown in to the Ketraxe jungle where she is being stalked by a beast who she now calls Echo. Echo is a Demon Beast that feeds on the flesh of the woman thrown into his jungle but this one is different than all the rest, this female is smart and he is intrigued by her as he watches her build traps trying to catch him but now he desires more from this female and feels that he is in love with her. Arya knows she is being watched but when they meet and talk she see’s the man inside and the connection that is building between them and what started out as Predator / Prey now moves to something more as they get to know each other, but how can he explain that what he is now the Beast is not what he was before. So looking forward to the next book to see if they get there HEA or not.

Selected as part of a group of ten women to serve as tribute to the Lorpa, Arya (h) travels to their planet, Ketraxe, where the Lorpa what they want from the tributes. The women are forced to participate in a series of events that force them to compete and even kill one another, with violent punishments if they disobey. Arya emerges as the winner and is forced into Ketraxe's jungles, where she finds herself the target of a vicious beast who desires nothing more than to feed on her flesh. She comes to call the beast Echo (H), in deference to the echoes of his howls across the jungle, and the two engage in a game of pursuit with Arya laying traps and trying to outwit the creature. But as time passes, Echo begins to admire Arya and her abilities as she battles to survive, until she eventually realizes that Echo isn't just a mindless beast, but that there's more to him than his monstrous facade. She's awakened something within Echo that no longer wants to kill her, and instead wants to protect her and make her his from whatever dangers come their way. Hot and steamy human-wendigo dark romance with plenty of violence, primal play, and more.

This was a slow moving read. The tributes are taken once a year from earth. They go to a far off planet. But the humans don’t know for what purpose.
Arya is the chosen first for this tribute. She is a survivor and that is all that gets her through this. She is taken. Then forced to murder. Along with bearings beatings from her jailers. Lastly she’s thrown out into the jungle with a bag and a spear.
Arya is being hunted but she is willing to fight to survive. Then when she does met the best things start to get interesting. Echo or the beat is taunting her. He isn’t killing her but he keeps tracking her. This game becomes more as it goes on. Until she can see past his outside to what is inside him. Echo is slowly becoming more just from his continued exposure to Arya.

The story starts with Arya a girl who is picked to be a tribute to the Lorpa. Every year, 10 women are picked to be sent to this planet. No one knows what happens to them once they get there. When they get there they learn they most do a series of events, even killing one another. She then is dropped off in a jungle, where she finds her self at target by a bloodthirsty beast named Echo. There is much more to Echo then being a mindless beast. Eventually he starts to admire Arya and fall for her.
Overall I enjoyed this book. It was a fun short read. I liked the premise of the story. I also thought the writing was great.

Mostly Horror, Tiny Bit of Romance
Arya has been transported to a new planet and thrown into a horrible situation. She’s stalked by a terrifying creature - will she survive? I was not a fan of this story at the start - young women being taken off world and they don’t resist? Seems out of character. I did appreciate that the interactions between Arya and the creature (they called it a wendigo in the story, not a Lich, so the title doesn’t really jive) start off with animosity and only change slowly. A “just okay” read.

DNF for me.
It's not a Lich.
I legitimately wonder if this was AI written.
The creature POV is really stilted.

I don't know if this author is Indigenous but many Indigenous voices have requested that authors not include Windigos in their writing without expanding on their context and including Indigenous characters in the story. And none of that is shown. If you don't want to respectfully use a culture's words and lore, don't write them.

It was not for me.

Made absolutely 0 sense and the plot didn’t clear anything up - sorry, what do you mean earth is just cool with 10 women (all world class athletes of some sort) just disappearing annually. The characters made absolutely 0 logical decisions despite saying their own thought process was logical, and the time skips gave me whiplash. I honestly think chat gpt wrote half this book, sorry. Saw someone else say AI too. Yikes

Interesting read!

It start off like a survival primal spicy book, which I am a sucker for.

It was slightly confusing because it called hunted by the lich, but then the monster referred to himself as a Wendigo. Which are to different types of monsters from my understanding.

Also this author loves AL covers smh! 🤦🏾‍♀️

Where is the ending?

Is there a 2nd book in the series I missed or something? There's not HEA here....you leave me in limbo. Also jumping around different time periods without some kinda indicator of time was a little confusing for some parts. Also felt like his body descriptions changed in a few places?

AI?

I finished it but I’m 99% sure AI was used to write this. This was terrible. One point she’s in a cave but then suddenly she’s not? Very hard to keep up with what’s happening bc it’s written so terribly. The “spicy” scenes were.. weird to say the least

what in the world?

I loved it, except it just abruptly ended when there’s no mention of a part two or anything like that
