Hart Sisters #2

The Road Less Traveled By

Rate this book
All Bree Hart does every day when she wakes up is try. With her stalker out of jail and hunting her down, she’s trying to put on a brave face. And even when she’s forced into a fake relationship to help a Hollywood playboy’s image, she nods and goes along with it.

But behind closed doors, she’s falling apart. And the only person she feels safe with is her old bodyguard, who’s back to protect her like he promised.

Vince Evans has always lived his life by his own rules. He jumps from case to case, never attaching himself to clients. But when Bree needs him again, he hands his current one off to someone else, and rushes back to Pennsylvania.

Vince will do anything to protect her, and Bree will try as hard as she can not to make anyone worry. But as threats loom over her head, even he might not be able to save her this time.

“Look at what i’m doing to them. look at the pain i’m causing them.”

I honestly wasn’t expecting to experience such a range of emotions. the book is full of trauma and sadness but also love and comfort.

let’s start with characters. i actually like vince, which was unexpected. usually bodyguards portrayed as grumpy while he was the opposite; always there for bree with everything needed. except, he scared me when he knew bree’s routine too well👀
i felt sorry for bree a lot of times, her trauma was such a crazy story. but she is one of the strongest characters i know. i honestly don’t think i would be able to float for such a long time without quitting my career and social life.

this will sound so wrong, but i wish there was more chapters about last event. i can’t understand how it happened… so much security and he just went through? weird🤷🏼‍♀️

i also haven’t read the first book, and i can’t wait to learn about her sister’s story.

if you like books with deep emotions and beautiful storyline, don’t forget to read this one. this book is coming out on august 1📅

Thank you Emily Tudor for giving me an arc.

wishing there were more hart sisters right now.

I HATE HATE HATEEE HOW THIS IS THE LAST HART SISTERS BOOK UGHH!!! i would say it has come to an end but tristanlivvy and vincebree will live on forever in my h(e)art.

gawd i loved this book. i knew even before i started reading i would love it. firstly?? folklore. this was folklore to its very core, just like me!! i'm a folklore girlie through and through and this book is like looking into a freaking mirror. also.... bodyguard. romance. AHHHH its one of my favorite tropes and DAMN em executed it perfectly. the forbidden-ness. the tension. the protectiveness. UGHSJSJSJE I JUST WANT TO SCREAMM!!

the romance itself is sweet and vulnerable and filled with longing and so so much love you are overwhelmed with it while reading. one of my favorite quotes ever (i know i say this a million times a day) is "to be loved is to be known/seen" and this was literally that quote... as a book??? being a bodyguard romance, of course we get the protectiveness which we love and then some jealousy and LOADSSS of tension!! especially cause its a slow burn and oh you better trust me when i say it BURNSS

also a little quick note this book not only took a mental toll on me but a physical one as well because i literally (i'm so serious right now i am not joking you guys have to believe me on this) fell off my bed because i was obsessing over vincebree so hard. yeah. and dropped my kindle on my face.... multiple times. anyways i was reading in my bed and i love to giggle and freak out and you know as all readers do i just throw myself everywhere because i physically cannot contain my emotions while reading and i just fell off my bed and it hurt!! really reminded me that i was reading a BOOK and doing all that over a fictional BOOK! oh and also i finished this book via method of one more chaptering and i finished it at 5am and had to wake up at six which was just lovely but also very worth it (p.s. i am so sorry em for all the texts you got at truly absurd times, i just happen to read and freak out over your books at approximately 12-5 am apparently??) anyways this "quick" note has turned into a rant and a very bad run on sentence so lets move on

besides the romance, the actual whole stalker plot had me invested and heartbroken for bree. i dont think i've hated a character as deeply as i hated r*lph🤢🤮definitely check out the trigger warnings because it is some serious tough shit. my girl bree is the strongest ever, shes the character thats breaking inside but the outside world would never know. she really has been through the worst yet with the support of her friends and family and using her own immense strength she pushes through and i seriously admire her for that!!

one of the most beautiful things about this book and the hart sisters books in general is the themes of sisterhood and found family. it was especially prominent in trltb and those certain moments were so so heartwarming to read. i just love how the west family and harts and evans (nellie of course!!) truly were each others found family and could count on each other when shit got tough. it was beautiful to read ugh i love them

overall, i obviously love this book. it had me laughing, crying, heartbroken, heart-warmed, smiling so hard my cheeks hurt, and really put me through all the feelings. i'm so happy i got to experience the absolute honor of reading this book (early!!) and i would advise everybody everywhere to read the hart sisters! these books make me feel so seen in a way no other book has ever done! they are written so beautifully and have the perfect amount of everything you could ever need in a book!!

thank you to emily and love notes pr for the eARC!! i can't wait to annotate this book and have both of my hart sisters books on my bookshelf together🤍🍓

p.s. special shoutout to nico because i knew i was gonna love that man from the very beginning. i literally had to remind myself that i was supposed to be solely falling in love with vince because nico just kept stealing my heart. also teags was phenomenal. i really hope we get her and dom?????????? maybe??????? (i just want more of the wests and harts😭)

here are some of my favorite quotes:

"it feels like all im doing lately is fucking trying but nobody notices"
"you're back" "you needed me"
"when reality got too tough to deal eith, she'd enter a different one. whether through a book, music, or her own head, she would go somewhere else that made her feel safe"
"thats another thing about bree- if you tell her something about yourself, she'll remember it"
"if i was him, i'd never take my eyes off of you"
"i have all the things i've always wanted....-but its not at all what i imagined it would be"
"if i had that once ina. lifetime love, i'd do anything to keep it"
"i'm fine" "its perfectly okay if you're not"
"it's not easy to love me"
"she doesn't do feelings well but her actions show itherwise"
"sometimes its easier to talk to a complete starnger about how my life is falling apart rather than someone i know"
"you're allowed to crack and break as long as you trust that those who love you will be there to piece you back togethwr"
"i want to be someones choice. i want them to choose to be with me"
"i know she still cries when nobody can see her. i know she hides her pain from the world because she hates talking about it. emotions and teagan don't mix well"
"you're my best friend, no matter what your ghosts are you will always be that for me"
"i love you to moon, teags" "and back. bree"
"even though teags isnt a big emotional person, shes always there when i need her"
"its hard to look away from her sometimes, and tonight is no different"
"it feels like he can really see me right mow, and that scares me. i've been so used to pushing people away but right now i dont want to do that to vince"
"i love how we can read each other with only looks, its like the two of us have our own secret langauge"
"he knwos me better than i know myself some days"
"all my scars are invisible, unnoticed by thr rest of the world. nobody noticed my marks. nobody can see or feel the battle that goes on in my head everyday. and no matter how hard i ttry, nobody is able to put me back together"
"bree only continues to laugh, and i coukd get drunk off that sound"
"i soent the entire day reading. some people might call that a waste of time, but spending tome in my favorite fictional universes will always be one of my favorite things to do"
" i immediately thought of you when i looked at it"
"shes goddamn angelic. my beautiful, tortured angel. 'i'll keep you safe, bree. i promise we'll get past this, and i'll soend every single day showing you that being with you is as easy as breathing"
"wherveer you go, i go"
"you deserve to be chosen, not almost chose . chose the path you want for you, not anybody else"
" a smile lifts his face. i did that"
"you keeo yourself at an arms length to protect your hesrt but one of these times you'll realize that the possibility of getting your heart broekn is worth it in the end."
"i used to be a girl who thought she was never destined for love. it felt easier to lock myself away and fall into romance novels where the couples live happily ever after. vince was the person who changed that for me"
"you teo have the love you write romance novels about"
"liv, my entire life all ive wanted to do is run. run grom things i was afraid of, run from this town, run from my feelings about anything snd everything. but you... you were the first thing i ever wanted to run toward"
"makikg bree harr smile is one of my favorite things to do"
"not a biological family, but a chosen one"

it may seem like i just quoted the entire book but that genuinely is not even half of my highlights!!

REVIEW:

oh my gosh, this book was so good. this is the perfect conclusion to the hart sisters stories and I absolutely ate up every little bit. emily poured so much love into this duet and i can’t believe it’s over.
bree and vince just really get each other so well and I loved bree so much. she is probably my favorite fmc that emily has written so far. she’s just so real and her healing journey is so special to me. i love seeing her find her strengths and how she loves finding joy in the small things. she’s just a beautiful character 🥲 vince was so fiercely protective and the way he knew her well enough to make her feel safe and secure when the world was so scary was simultaneously hot and beautiful to read.

these characters make each other whole. and not just bree and vince (who are most definitely made for each other). one of my favorite parts of this duet is how they all surround each other with love and support through the hardest times. it’s the definition of real love and found family and it’s so special to feel their love pour off the pages. i can’t recommend this book enough 😭🤍

tropes:
- bodyguard x famous influencer
- romantic suspense
- found family
- age gap
- slow burn (worth the wait)
- healing from trauma

✨Perfection✨

📖 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐮𝐝𝐨𝐫

“𝘚𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘬, 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘮 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸, 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴.“

I am a sucker for a bodyguard romance and this one was freaking AMAZING. I was so intrigued by Bree’s story ever since getting glimpses of her in 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧. I knew going into this book that Bree would be dealing with heavy emotions and trauma from what happened to her in her sister’s book.

Vince was hired on to be Bree’s bodyguard shortly after her attack and stayed with her until her stalker was behind bars. When her stalker is released early Bree asks him to come back. Vince has strict rules he holds himself to, but for some reason, he’ll break them all for her.

This book was freaking so good. Vince is a supreme protector and gave off all the best alpha vibes. That man would burn the world to the ground to keep her safe. He feels like he doesn’t deserve her, but as the story progresses, his walls crumble.

When the spice hits in this book it seriously HITS. This is a slow burn romance, which I really felt fell in line with Bree overcoming her attack. Vince is a made who takes care of Bree’s needs, outside AND inside the bedroom. (IYKYK) 😉

"𝘍𝘭𝘪𝘱 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘣 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘣𝘰𝘢𝘳𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭.“

Bree was a fantastic FMC. She’s a survivor that is trying to heal but shes never told anyone what truly happened that night and she’s convinced no one will want her if they find out. She loves romance books but no longer believes love is possible for her. My heart broke for her and I was so thankful she had Vince.

"𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥."

If you loved 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧, both Livvy and Tristin are in this book quite a lot! We also get one the the sweetest freaking moments with both of them at the end. It 1000% gave me all the happy tears!

I’m not ready to say goodbye to the Hart sisters, Livvy & Bree. My fingers are crossed that we get more books set in this world! I need Dom and Teagan to get a happy ending. Brother’s best friend is one of my favorite tropes!

If you are a bodyguard romance lover, you seriously have to read this book! Add 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐮𝐝𝐨𝐫, to your TBR today!

This book is everything i needed.
It was so refreshing to read it, and i really didn't expect to love it as much as i do right now.

Rule number one is to always be reachable.
Rule number three is no personal attachments.
Rule number four is to always see a case through.
Rule number five is to never go anywhere without a knife.
Rule number six is that when the job is done, you walk away.
Rule number eight is If you need help from any of us, ask.
Rule number nine is that coincidences don't exist.

He had rules, and for her, he broke them.

Bree Hart is an book influencer. She's famous and with fame comes creepy "fans". Bree is stalked by someone, someone who assaulted her.

Vince Evans. The bodyguard.
The one who protected her until Ralph - the stalker - was sent in jail.

Happy ending ? Oh no, it's just the beginning of their story. Four year later, Ralph is out. Ralph is not happy and he's more obsessed than ever.

Vince promised he would come back to protect Bree if Ralph got out of prison.

And yeah, Vince came.

Rule number six is that when the job is done, you walk away.

His work is important to him but Bree's protection is extremely important to him. especially since it is only with Vince that Bree feels safe.
From there, Vince moved in with Bree and established a whole procedure for her protection. Guards around the house, cameras...

I more than loved their relationship. It was great to see how much Vince cared about her but didn't want to admit it, how he could help her stay grounded when all Bree wanted was to escape her trauma.

Everything was so well written. Their relationship develops little by little, with intense and meaningful moments.

I would have loved to read a little more of their story.

The relationship that Bree will form with Vince is all the more beautiful because he will literally throw his rules into the fire for her??

He literally falls first and he falls harder.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈’𝐦 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈’𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐭. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐦𝐞, 𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝.

Rule number three is no personal attachments

It seems like someone is no longer able to respect their rules !!!

I really liked that Bree was a fan of the books and that we found this love throughout the book.

𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐈 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭.

The fact that he kept naming her "Angel" and even named his company after that surname ??? Nah, it's too cute.

He loved her so much. He just didn't know it.
Their relationship was so beautiful. I really was giggling and kicking my feet.

𝐒𝐡𝐞’𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐜. 𝐌𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥, 𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥. “𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞, 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐞. 𝐈 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐞’𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠.”

Another point that I liked is the fact that all the characters are endearing. I really enjoyed watching them sail around Bree. they make a beautiful family.

The subjects covered are sensitive, we still talk about stalkers, sexual assault, death and mourning... but the way in which the characters react to these situations? it was just perfect.

I read this book in one sitting because I was simply captivated. I really didn't think I would like it that much and I definitely didn't expect the writing style to be so perfect. I plan to read the other books by this author.

So thank you Emily Tudor for this amazing book and thank you Love notes PR.

if you don’t want to read the full review: this book is amazing!!! go read it and buy a copy because you’ll need it.

I have absolute no words to describe how much I love this book and this duology. I’m a firm believer that Emily Tudor can do no wrong and this book is the prove.
In a way, it’s very sad that this duology is ending but I’m so happy I was able to read and love this series.
Bree and Vince are honestly everything. They are the absolute definition of meant to be and I love how much they get each other perfectly.
I want to talk about them and their story but at the same time I don’t want because I just need everyone to go read this book. I will never stop recommend this book.
Vince is absolute perfection. he is absolutely everything and I know you are all going to be obsessed with him.
And let’s talk about Emily’s writing. She is a fantastic writer and you can feel every single word you read. It’s poetic and magical and I’m just so in awe of how her writing is beautiful.

read this book if you love:
bodyguard x influencer
age gap
she falls first
he falls harder
romantic suspense
slow burn
found family

Thank you Emily Tudor and Love Note PR for the ARC

I was excited to read this book because the trope ✨Bodyguard x Influencer✨ sounded so good! The book had so much potential and some parts of it, I did enjoy - Bree (Female Main Character) was frustrating, but I really enjoyed the tension between her and Vince, her bodyguard.

It was a bit like “non stop circle” - Bree’s stalker would get her, she would get saved, the stalker would capture her again, she would get saved again and so on;(

Also, this is a duology (I don’t know how I didn’t knew that), but I don’t think you HAVE to read the first book, I’m pretty sure it’s like a standalone.

So I gave it 2/5, because the FMC was frustrating and I didn’t enjoy the epilogue at all:)

I received this arc to give my honest review. Thank you!!!

Thanks to Love Notes PR for the ARC!

Such a great sequel!! The story follows Bree, a book lover / influencer with a scary stalker, and Vince, her protective bodyguard. Their sweet romance & journey to heal together are heartwarming!! Bree as a character feels very real and seeing her find strength and happiness in small things makes her character beautiful🩷

Now as for Vince- WHAT A MAN 😌 Vince's protectiveness and his way of making Bree feel safe are what I liked most in this book!!! The stalker plot ngl was very suspenseful!! The found family theme is lovely, especially Bree's bond with her sister Liv…

This book was just perfect. Back in February I read The Road Not Taken by Emily Tudor and it was the first book i’ve read her. Now I don’t think I need to mention I obviously will be reading anything else she’s ever written and will write. Yes guys i was already sold by book 1, but this one here ? Yeah it was just perfect.
I don’t want to go into it too much and spoil anything but if you like any of the following things this book is definitely for you.
It has :
bodyguard romance
age gap (9 years) (ok just with these two i died!!!!)
romantic suspense
famous fmc
slow burn
found family
oh and he’s a dog daddy

And if you don’t well go read it either way ! I would definitely recommend reading The Road Not Taken before well first because it’s so good !??! and also because it’ll just make your experience so much better… and i mean if you’re a found family lover you just have to!
This story was so good and literally hooked from the very first page. Bree is such an amazing and strong character and I love her so much. Don’t you get me started on Vince, I honestly think I couldn’t stop talking about him.
I mean how could I when he does things like that ? He literally keeps a hair tie around his wrist for her just in case. JUST IN CASE !!!
Yeah he just won best book boyfriend award.
This book had it all from the feet kicking, the hand slap on the mouth, the silly giggle, the literal butterflies, to the invisible camera staring. I love this book. And the tension ? I need a re-read already.
The epilogue had me in tears this book was just so good! And the playlist ? Once again perfectly ON POINT !!! And once again so many taylor swift songs so yeah happy me !
I 100% recommend this duology, I know i loved it way too much and will be re-reading both of the books soon ! But please do check the TW before.

Thanks Emily Tudor and Love Note PR for allowing me early copy of The Road Less Traveled By. I had an amazing time and can’t wait for everyone to read it on release day on August 1st. It’s a 5⭐️ for me !

I was one of the ARC readers of this book and OH. MY. GOD. This book has me hooked so so so bad. I literally couldn't get any work done because I just couldn't stop reading. This was such a perfect book I swear to god.

After reading about Vince, I actually started wanting to have a bodyguard of my own because believe me when I tell you this, he's the epitome of a book boyfriend. The jealousy, protectiveness, possessiveness and ofcourse the HEAT he has towards her was just chef's kisses.

Bree is very close to my heart. Because never have I ever related more to a character before. When I was reading the book I actually saw myself in Bree. She is literally how every reader actually wishes to be (minus having a stalker). But she was actually everything I can imagine myself and all other readers as.

Most importantly if you're a folklore fan, PLEASE READ THIS. I swear to god you won't regret it. This book was actually what I can picture folklore being if it wasn't an album but a book. And this is coming from a die hard Swiftie so that is saying something.

Also the book showcases a very close relationship between both the Hart sisters. Overall this book was a 5 star read for me and I absolutely loved it and am so obsessed with it

ARC Review - The Road Less Traveled By comes out on August 1st.

If Emily Tudor has no fans then I am DEAD. Wow wow wow, she has done it again.

The Hart Sister's captivated my heart from the second I opened up The Road Not Taken and Bree's story did not disappoint, in fact I think it was better. I binged 93% of it in one setting and then had to FORCE myself to sleep at 4am; I think that says a lot.

Read it, binge it but please do check the trigger warnings; it is a heavy book :)

***MINOR SPOILERS***

First of all....Vince???? Oh my god. I neeeeed a Vince in my life (sorry to my bf). He was protective without being possessive, kind, brave and gorgeous. The way Emily wrote his POV was !!!!!. He spoke about Bree in a way that had me KICKING MY FEET AND BLUSHING. Vince I love you.

This was a heartbreaking book in a very different way to The Road Not Taken. This was dark, painful and didn't try to hide the realities and aftermath of sexual assault. This was clearly well-researched and beautifully, carefully created. Although this was a romance, the way Emily wrote Bree's trauma was difficult to read (in the best way) which meant the changes in tone between the romance and the dark 'drama' was well crafted and gave itself to a much more intense reading experience.

4.5 because there was quite a bit of repetition, especially in Bree's thoughts but the plot, characters and writing made up for it :)

LISTEN TO IT WITH THE PLAYLIST...PLEASE.

Whew! This had my heart racing!😭🫠 This really was romantic suspense because I was on the edge of my seat the entire time waiting for the worst to happen at any given moment. Definitely check out the TWs before reading because this book deals with some heavy themes & scenarios. The stalker plot was actually quite intense & I did NOT expect it to go that dark😦 I enjoyed this book although there was just *something* that was missing, which I can’t quite put my finger on, so unfortunately I didn’t love it as much as book 1.

Bree was such a strong fmc. The shit this girl went through is insane, but she’s a fighter & a survivor, through and through. Despite everything that happened to her, her number 1 concern was always if everyone she loved was safe & okay. She was incredibly selfless & sweet, & watching her struggle was heartbreaking❤️‍🩹

Vince! Ugh that man was too damn good! I’m so glad he wasn’t your regular grumpy asshole bodyguard! He was quiet, reserved & broody, but was still a total sweetheart. The way he was always there for Bree & constantly tried to get her to put herself first for once >>🥹 also, Emily said his face claim was Vince Dunn so IMMEDIATE slay! I love that man so much so of course I have to stan🫦

Vince’s & Bree’s romance exuded comfort, warmth, peace, & feelings of being “home”🫂 they were so cute together, & I loved how protective Vince was over Bree. There is also some jealousy from Vince when Bree has to start fake dating another guy🤭 & tension, of course👏🏼 I also LOVED the found family aspect in this book, & watching everyone that Bree loved continuously show up for her🥹🤍

Tbh there were times where I literally suspected anyone & everyone in Bree/Vince’s circle of people, of working with Bree’s stalker. Turns out I was completely wrong which stumped me a little because I was confused as to how certain events even happened in the first place if they WERENT carried out by the people I had suspected? I think I wanted more of a clearer explanation as to how everything went down. Also the climax was kinda short-lived which might be awful to say, but it felt quite rushed🤷🏻‍♀️ So there was a few downsides to this book, but overall I enjoyed it👏🏼

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞: bodyguard x influencer, romantic suspense, age gap, slow burn, she falls first, he falls harder, found family

Thank you to Emily & Love Notes PR for the arc in exchange for my honest review🩶

the road less traveled by || emily tudor

*.✧ review ✧.*

the road less traveled by has honestly been one of my top reads of 2024, and when I say I could not put this book down, I mean it! I was obsessed with every aspect of the story, down to the final sentence.

“you’re back.” “you’re needed me.”

bree hart, my favorite folklore girl. Her bravery throughout the story was so inspiring and she was able to overcome any obstacle that was thrown her way. even though she sometimes felt like there was no way that she could survive her dilemmas, she kept moving forward and let herself be surrounded by people who could help her.

“aww, that’s nice.” “trust me angel, there’s nothing nice about what we’re about to do.”

vince was the most caring bodyguard I’ve ever read about, but it might’ve had something to do with his target. he was protective of bree in the best way, and his process of opening up was so sweet. i especially loved how he became closer to bree and how he eventually was able to let go of his inhibitions and be with her.

“despite not being related by blood, we will always choose one another.”

tristanlivvy cameos! i literally love them so bad and I was so excited when they made appearances. They’re the cutest and it was so heartwarming to see little bits of their relationship after trnt ended. but not only did I get to see them, the found family trope was so major in this book! teagen and nico, aria and nellie ;) everyone that came together and connected, a group that trusts each other no matter what.

“and i still get to love myself.”

if there is anything you need to know about me, it is that I am an emily tudor lover first, and a human second. The way she writes is so so incredible! she uses words I would’ve literally never thought of, and if taylor swift was an author, it’d definitely be emily. her mind is amazing, and I’m thrilled to see what comes from it next.

4 stars !! arc review <3

“i’ll be her anchor when the weight of the storms in her mind become too much for her to handle.”

bree and vince… how can i start this review… i just love them !! literally read from 10pm til 3am because i needed to see the end but man so much trauma. like the whole stalker plot since book one?? i felt the bad goosebumps and shivers all over my body but vince was always there for bree <3 and i loved how emily portrayed mental health !

the bodyguard trope is a neutral trope to me, for some reason i get tired of it but i enjoyed how emily worked with it but at some point it wasn’t really realistic or believable, and i know this is a book with unrealistic scenarios but in what world would this happen?? for example, when the events happened on book one they knew it was serious and when it happened again they didn’t contact the police?? he got through security more than twice and nobody told the police?? there was a bomb and no police escort?? they only contacted the police when she went missing?? when they found bree, vince was the first to get to her bedroom?? that’s the reason why i rated 4 stars, i really was expecting this one to be my fav but i think little details just got on my head.

i think livvy and bree’s sister bond will be one my favorite thing in the hart sisters books bc they’ll always support each other and the amount of hell they had to go through during their life :(

“i am who i am because of you, liv.”
“you are who you are because of you, bree.”

i love how we got to see more of tristan and livvy !!!! pls we got to see their wedding *sobs*

“i’ll spend every day proving to you that i love you a little more than the day before.”

thank you to emily tudor and love notes pr for the arc <3

Arc review: this book is so close to my heart 🥰it was beyond words, I knew from the start it would be a 5 star because not only is the writing style amazing but the story itself is so empowering and shows the reality of PTSD and anxiety rather than brushing it under the rug. It shows how families can come together and support each other. One of my favourite tropes is found family and this one will always be my favourite one. The way they would run to each without hesitation🥹. Usually I would put a quote but I have so many highlighted it’s hard to choose one😂.
A classic one but we love it is - “fuck it,” he whispers
“As long as you’re around, I’ll always feel safe”
“ let me prove to you that I’m choosing this- us.”
Vince and bree will have a special place in my heart 🥰the way they support each other and choose love each other rather than push away, also spoiler- when he comes back and she says your back all I had in my head was “you came, you called “😭😭😭😭perfection they are perfection. I’m so thankful for the arc of this book thank you so much Emily I can’t wait to see what you do next🥰🥰

BEAUTIFUL, SUSPENSEFUL & EMOTIONAL.
We also get a playlist to follow for each chapter 😍

This book follows Bree our FMC and Vince our MMC.
Bree is a bookish influencer with a harmful stalker who’s already got to her before. Vince is Bree’s bodyguard and will do whatever it takes to protect her.
Their romance build up was so sweet and the way they worked on healing each other was beautiful.

The stalker parts were suspenseful and I did feel for Bree as she just wanted to share her love for books. The found family aspect was also very sweet, the relationship Bree has with her sister Liv is cute.

There are some spicy scenes but it is a slow burn so they happen about 3/4 of the way through. Both main characters were likeable and the story touched my heart.
Definitely give this a read, it is a must read!!
The way Emily wrote this book is truly beautiful, heart wrenching, emotional, and wholesome.

Tropes:
- Found family
- Bodyguard/influencer
- Protective MMC
- Book influencer
- Slow burn romance
- Age gap (maybe like 8 years)
- Care taking MMC (he makes her favourite dessert 🥹😭)
- Spicy scenes hit too

Thanks to Love Notes PR and the author Emily Tudor for the ARC!

I admit that I'm kind of, almost compulsively, in love with bodyguard romances! And Emily Tudor is not helping with my obsession! I AM OBESSED WITH THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED BY, I mean Vince, what a man!!!!

I loved both the characters so much! I mean every kid wants to be like Bree, she overcame every challenge that came her way, and her braveness throughout the narrative was truly amazing. She kept going and allowed herself to be surrounded by people who could help her, even though there were moments when she thought there was no way she could get out of her problems. I did feel like I was seen from time to time in Tudor's representation of PTSD, anxiety and depression, it is not always easy to find a book that represents it like that!

AND VINCE WHAT CAN I SAY?? The man is literally what every girl wants, the way he is with Bree, how caring he is! And can we take two seconds to appreciate the nickname he gave her! (and no I will not say it, if you know you know! and if you want to know, read the book!!!)

I also thought it was great how the author made the book feel like a community where you could feel the love amongst all the characters! We're talking about an excellent support system, the way they all pitch in when things go tough! It makes me love more and more found family in romances, I just loved all the characters so much! This duet is definitely one I can see myself rereading in a few month!!

- bodyguard x famous influencer

I LOVE YOU EMILY TUDOR

first of all i just want to thank emily and love notes pr for selecting me for the ARC of this story!

i genuinely don't know where to begin. i loved the road not taken so much at the beginning of the year, and when this book was announced, i was ECSTATIC! i didn't think it was possible to out-do the road not taken, but oh my gosh, emily did it.

throughout this whole book, emily showcased her superpower of putting so much emotion into her writing that really lets the reader feel like her characters are real people. i just wanted to give bree a huge hug this entire book 😭 the plot had me either biting my nails, laughing hysterically, or crying in a corner. no bodyguard book will ever top this! this honestly is everything and more than i could have wanted and expected for vince and bree's story and it's bittersweet to know it's over! PLEASE READ THIS DUOLOGY ASAP!!

To start I was excited for this read because of its title and connections to Robert Frost (my favorite). However, it was so much more. The author starts by jumping RIGHT into the suspense of the book, the MFC is an influencer and has a stalk that just got out of jail and is 100% coming for her. Love a good thriller mixed with romance. It’s a slow burn between the MCs but when they fall it’s hard and fast. They are cheesy but not too cheesy, and the MMC is so empathetic and supportive, just deeply wanting her to feel safe and loved and that really comes through the pages. Plus he’s super protective but not in a stifling/controlling way which is always great. This book is a trigger warning for SA and Rape, and why I can not personally relate, in my opinion the author does a wonderful job deeply tying in the impact & severity of the two without it being too much (my inability to full relate is the reason for .5 star missing) I did finish the book with some unanswered questions: how the bad guy gets away with shit, and there did feel like a lack of emphasis on the severity of some of the things he does. BUT at the end of the day it’s a fictional story, and those pieces do not factor into the plot much. Loved this book and the message was unique from others I have read. A definite read!

this book is perfect. is definitely my favorite book.
there’s not enough words to describe how i love it and how much it means to me.

i am craving some chocolate covered strawberries after reading this 😞(it’s a joke, i was craving them even before i read this lmaoo)

the way is written is so perfect, is easy to read and the little details are everything to me. THE PLAYLIST AND THE DEDICATION!!!

i see myself so much in Bree, the way she’s written is just so realistic, i loved that.
the way this book talks about ptsd, anxiety and depression is so well written and realistic (been there, i know what i’m talking about)
the way it talks about feeling guilty about what happened, what didn’t happened and what could’ve happened is just so realistic. how is living after that happened.
me in another universe fr, with bows and all, i just wanna give her a hug.

Vince!! oh my god, Vince the man that you are 😩 the way he’s with Bree, just the way that he is! not enough words to describe him, he’s perfect. i love him. THE NICKNAME HE GAVE HER BABSGSHSBSBSHSNSNWNAJ !!
how he is always there for her and how she is for him too.

this book is wrapped with ribbons and bows all around my heart and soul.
for the millionth time, thank you Emily for writing this book, thank you for giving me a chance to read it, and thank you for making me feel seen and healing a part of me.

Thanks to LoveNote.Pr and the author for the ARC.

Bree is an influencer (book lover), has just made a contract for a fake relationship and oh yeah her stalker is back. Vince was her old bodyguard and the only one who makes her feel safe.
Vince has rules and Bree makes him break them all. So when Bree needs him, he rushes back to her.

This was so good. I loved Vince and Bree. It made me wanna read the other book. This was book 2 in The Hart Sisters duology.
Bree is a survivor and she is just trying to heal. To piece herself back together after what happend last time with her stalker. Who is an unhinged person I might add. Bree loves romance books, but no longer believes love is possible for her. She broke my heart and the whole time reading I just wanted things to go her way.

Vince is grumpy and protective, more than what his job as bodyguard requires him to be. If he had to, he would burn the world for her.

"𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥."

The slow burn is so good and when the spice hits, it really hits just right. Vince takes care of Bree and she gains some control back.

I love the side characters too, and I kinda want Teagan & Dom's story too. Fingers crossed.

I read this book as an ARC provided by Love Notes PR:

This book combined so many elements in the best way possible. Firstly, who doesn’t love a bodyguard romance. Emily Tudor truly took her time writing this book in the best way possible. This story reflects the true traumas that someone can go through without diminishing their strength. This story contains heavy themes such as stalking and assault and trigger warnings were provided which is extremely important. Aside from the heavy themes of the story, the romance was written so beautifully. The love that is shown between Vince and Bree throughout the story had me swooning! The resilience of their relationship was inspiring. The story not only reflects the strength of a survivor, but also letting others in and letting your family care for you, even if they aren’t family by blood. This was an exceptional story, and I was so lucky to have read it in advance!

ARC REVIEW :

what a duet, if you love angsty books, with all the feels, it's definitely for you.
the found family in this duet is everything, they're definitely the definition of "you came ? you call."
family isn't always DNA, it's sometimes people we choose and choose us, despite all.
.
Bree and Vince are perfect for each other, they're the perfect match. he choose to protect her being her bodyguard, then 5 years later he choose to protect her AGAIN !
their friendship is so precious, the love language from Vince ? let me scream.
all the tropes are here ok ?
I have a great time with them, and I know I will miss them. the last chapters with Tristan and Liv ? BOOM BOOM.
"WHERE THE FUCK IS MY FUCKING WIFE ?"
.
Emily you need to write MORE, and YOU KNOW ABOUT WHO !
.
thank you for so much for this arc, I'm so happy for this, everytime i will see the sunset i will think about them. always, forever.

Tropes:
🤍Bodyguard & influencer
🤍Found family
🤍Slow burn
🤍Age gap

Thank so much @lovenotes.pr and @authoremilytudor

First of all... Vince? Oh my God. I need a Vince in my life, he was protective without being possessive, kind, brave and so beautiful. He was talking about Bree in a way that made me question when I will have this, Vince, I love you, you are my new master and the ideal type of girls 💘🥹

This was a heartbreaking book in a different way than what I've read this month, it was (a little) dark, painful, and the author didn't try to hide the realities and aftermath of what sexual assault is. This was clearly well researched and carefully created and that's a lot to talk about.

Although this book is primarily a romance, the way Emily wrote Bree's trauma was interesting to read which meant the shifts between romance and darkness in the plot were well crafted.

The family plot was charming, the bond between Bree and her sister was very tender, I read a few days ago that it was necessary to read Liv's book to understand this one, personally I didn't (although I wanted to) but in my opinion I didn't like it. It was so necessary, I would have liked to read it to understand their relationship (and very beautiful) relationship, but that's it.

I give it 4.2/5 ⭐ because there was a bit of repetition in certain situations, especially on Bree's part, but the plot, characters and writing were interesting, light and very pretty.

This is probably one of the beeeeest slow burns I've ever read. ❤️‍🔥 ❤️‍🔥 ❤️‍🔥 THESE TWO...!!!

I really loved that Vince and Bree were together for a while, without being ~together~. Their relationship and its progression felt much more natural than if they had started cuffing after two weeks – which I guess is true for Livvy's book too (which I also loved). Speaking of - if you loved Livvy and Tristan then you're gonna wanna read this. 💫

The plot of this book is so heavy that I really appreciated not piling onto it with intense (or ongoing) drama between the main characters. Vince gives off that broody, protector energy, but he also incorporated himself into Bree's circle and became part of their little family pretty easily. And OMG, the way everyone stepped up for Bree and cared for her – talk about a top-notch support system. 🏆

Really – loved this one so much and, for the love of all that is holy, I simply *must* know what Nico and Teag's conversations consisted of! 👀

Summary:

Bree is a well known book influencer. Her stalker was released from jail and she knows it’s only a matter of time before he comes after her. Vince drops his current job to return to Bree as her bodyguard. He breaks all his rules for her.

My thoughts:

This is book two in the Hart Sisters duet. It could be read as a stand alone ; however, you will miss some of the context that was in book one. I strongly recommend reading them in order.

The Road Less Traveled deals with a few heavy topics. I would check trigger warnings before reading. @authoremilytudor did an amazing job with writing the topics into the storyline. You can feel their pain and struggles. This was an emotional read.

I honestly would love a spinoff series for both the West siblings and the Wilder’s Angel employees.

Thank you @lovenotes.pr and @authoremilytudor for the ARC

This book is sooo good and I have the admit the end made me cry…

I LOVED Bree, this character has a special place in my heart, she’s so strong and amazing. Her way of finding joy in the smallest and simplest things speaks to me on every level. And I ADORED the way Vince protected Bree and was there for her through everything and how made her feel loved and secure despite all the crazy that were happening around them.

You can feel the love all around between all the characters, and it’s just so beautiful and heartwarming to read. I HIGHLY recommend this book and don’t forget book n°1 as well!!!
